Although often tardy returning calls, Tom was very helpful and responsive early in my re-roofing process. When one of my spouts did not drain correctly he replaced it with a wider gutter. I found him to be a likable man. On or around July of 2013 Tom completed by roof. About 9 months or so thereafter I noticed some of the shingles on the peak of the roof were raising up, and a few on the edges were starting to protrude from the edge of the roof. I spoke to Tom re same, I believe around spring of 2014, and he told me that he would come out and put a cap on the roof peak and remedy whatever else. I did not hear from him and called about 3 months or so later and he said that he would shortly make a time to come out. He also told me that he had some health issues, and I was sympathetic with that as I was also experiencing same. I heard no word from Tom and assumed that he was dealing with his health. I began to call five or six months afterwards again, and continued to do so every 3 months or so, but have never had one of those calls returned. I was told that my roof was under full warranty for 15 years, and that the shingles for either 20 or 30 (it was one or the other- getting old and I don’t remember). I helped Tom get two roof jobs subsequent to mine, and am deeply disappointed and angered at his lack of respect for me.

Tom and his crew showed up on time and on the date specified. Because the job was pretty big he returned Saturday AM to finish. Mr. Hensel and all of his employees are polite and professional. I would recommend them highly. Hensel's has replaced part of roof and removed mildew from the rest of our roof on a previous job. He replaced the top of our concrete steps and reinstalled bannister rail, again on a previous job. I have used him and his crew four times in the last several years. I will continue to use him. He is prompt, reasonably priced.

I put in a request through Angie's list for a roofer to replace three plumbing vent boots. That same night, my phone rang and when I answered there was a recorded message that I had requested the roofing service. Then a phone rang on the other end, but no answer. The next day I received a call from a man identifying himself as being from Hensel Roofing. He also said his name was Dave Winter. The next morning I called him and set up a time for that afternoon. The job was started before my wife got home and was finished soon thereafter. The truck had the Hansel name on the side, but he did not give my wife a receipt. I called for a receipt the next day and he said he would send it. The boots worked well in the 9" of rain we had two days later, but I never received a receipt. I cannot recommend someone who works this way even though it appears the job was done correctly.

The vendor was able to show up and provide a free quote in advance of any work being done. He was 25% below the other quotes that I had received. Tom and his team showed up and performed the work in a quick and efficient manner. The team was sure to clean up after themselves and were very respective to the neighborhood and the tenants in the property. Tom provided all of the materials. No money was charged in advance and he provided a detailed receipt at the end of the job including receipts from the places he purchased materials from. He did not mark up the materials as is typically done by many other contractors. For any of your exterior needs, I strongly encourage you to consider Hensel Roofing.
