We used this plumber before to repair a leaking water line on a Saturday afternoon. We discussed the existing tank which was getting old and he gave me a price to replace it. I scheduled the installation about a week later and he came and replaced it for that price. Today when I had another leak I called and he returned the call in a very short time. He arrived a little before the time we arranged and fixed it quickly. Highly recommended.

I called Guardian plumbing on Labor Day, because the shower stopped working the night before. I spoke with Joel, and he set up a time to come out the following day. He arrived when he said he would, and he was very professional. I was very happy with him, and expected to hire him for the job. I showed him the piping, and he explained he could cut the pipe at different parts. The farther back he replaced the better, but the more expensive. He also stated he would replace the trap, and would prefer to replace the entire drain while he was at it. I had no problems with any of this, even though the drain had just been put in less than a year ago. Joel went out to his truck to calculate how much it would cost. At this point, I was still planning to hire him to just get the job done as soon as possible. I had read that he was a little expensive, but most people seem thrilled with his work, so I didn't mind paying a little extra for quality work and prompt service. When I got the estimate, my heart almost stopped. He gave me two drain options, a nicer one and a slightly lower quality one. For the installation of the "budget" drain, as well as having a new trap installed, he wanted $694. For the more expensive all-brass drain and new trap, he wanted $817. At this point, my shower still wouldn't be able to drain, as the clog was deep in the piping, well past what he would replace for this price. To actually get my problem fixed and get the rest of the pipes replaced, it would cost $324 if he did it while he was already out. If he did it a a standalone job, or if he came back to do it, it would cost $682. Plus, it cost $50 for a service fee just for him to come out and look. In other words, the cheapest pricing I could get from him to actually get the issue fixed was $732 (pvc pipes + $50 service charge. This wouldn't include a new trap) The job I was expecting to get done (new trap + all new pipes), would have been at least $1067, because he insisted on replacing the drain. If I had picked the most expensive drain and had him come back a second time (not sure why I would, but he gave me the pricing options,) it would have been $1584. I grudgingly paid him the service charge, and started calling other plumbers as soon as he left. One guy called me back, and was able to come that same day for an estimate as I was already off work. He also wanted to replace the drain. I asked him to give me a price with and without a new drain installation. He informed me the drain would cost $30 extra. When he looked at the piping, he said he would just replace all of the old piping that led away from the shower drain, which is exactly what I wanted to have done. He also went out to his truck to calculate an estimate. When he got back, he told me it would be $300 for the entire job (including the drain). There was no service charge for the estimate. I hired him immediately. He came the next day, replaced everything in two hours, hauled all the old piping away for me, and even fixed a minor issue I was having with my sink at no charge. I couldn't be happier with that plumber. Joel/Guardian wanted a minimum of $767 more for the same work. To put it another way, he wanted almost two weeks of wages from me for two hours of work on his part. The drain I had installed likely isn't what Joel would have put in, but I don't care. Water drains down it fine, and it stops water from draining when I want it to. It also looks nice. That's all a shower drain needs to do. As I said before, Joel was very professional and prompt, and I don't mind paying a little extra for quality work. But 3x more is not a "little" extra. I have no doubt that Joel/Guardian does nice work based on all the great reviews, but I highly suggest anyone get estimates from others if they are considering hiring them. I'll find a use for the $700 I didn't spend hiring him.

NOTE: I do not know the approximate cost of service--I just entered an amount. My parents were having water back up into their tub and needed a plumber to unclog the line. I contacted Joel through Angie's List to schedule them an appointment and I was very impressed with how professional and friendly he was on the phone. The day he came to my parents' house, he listened to my mother as she voiced her concerns, he took time to communicate with her and ensure she understood what he was going to do/suggesting to be done. He ran a camera down the sewage lines and showed my mother what he was seeing--no problem except the lines have residual water backed up in them. She was impressed he didn't try to pull a fast one on her and tell her the line was clogged. Joel then discussed with my mom installing a new toilet--he showed her four choices, offered to pick the toilet up, installed it that day, and hauled away the old one. Mom knows she could have paid less to purchase a toilet at a hardware store on her own (which is why he got a "B" rating on price), but felt his offer was well worth the extra pennies--outstanding customer service trumps price! Mom felt Joel went above and beyond by showing her everything he was doing before, during, and after, offering her choices, and performing a superior job on the entire problem. And as the daughter, I am very happy how easy Angie's List made finding a good plumber for my parents. My parents plan on using Joel again to fix a leaking shower, and I feel good knowing that if I need a plumber, I already know who to call. Thank you Joel!

He was on time, polite, knew what to do and did it efficiently. One of the "frozen " valves was near the furnace and he asked when it had been cleaned last. He checked the service envelope on the furnace and noted the last cleaning was April, 2013. We then called Shipley, with whom Mom had a service contract including an annual cleaning and arranged for them to come out to do the cleaning. Very professional and friendly. I do minor plumbing repairs at my house and Mom's house so seldom have to use a plumber - so I may not be a good source to comment on price. However, the parts (guts to the Delta faucet, and three shutoff valves would be somewhere between $60 and $70 ) so 2 hours labor ran about $400. This seemed to be high.

It went great. He was very proficient and neat. The work was excellent.

He was knowledgeable and very professional. They were on time, reasonable with communication, and they had very competitive pricing.

Had a leak in new kitchen cabinets. Determined why leaking. It turned out to be an old garbage disposal which was very loud. It was replaced with a new disposal which you almost cannot hear when it is running. This was much better than the most expensive disposal Sears sells. So installation and new disposal which was again stronger than the best Sears has. Price was very good and very prompt. Called and was there next day.

He arrived timely and looked at what I needed to have done. I had to take my dog to the groomers (told him this when we set up the appointment) and he wrote up an estimate. The estimate was $971.95 to cut a hole in the top of an old dresser, take out the old sink and put the new sink in place. I had all the materials except he said he would install a new drainage pipe and sink lines. When he gave me the estimate, I immediately wanted to send him packing. I used him because he had a good rating on Angie's list and the reviews listed fair prices. I told him that I thought his estimate was too high. He said he would be there all day! Total silence. Then he suggested that I cut the drawers myself and he would take $145 off the bill. I also mentioned that he had $44.95 on the bill for the dispatch fee and that it was to be free according to his note on Angie's list. He took that amount off as well. Then I made the foolish mistake of saying ok (and no, I didn't get other estimates because I wanted to find a new plumber) since he was there already and I wanted the work done. He started working and dismantled the old sink. I had shut off values so it was very easy. I helped him carry the old sink outside. He then taped the top of the dresser and cut a hole for the sink. All went well. We carried the dresser upstairs and he cut the holes for the plumbing. He actually cut an extra hole because he did one wrong. Then he hooked up the sink. Again no problems. We leveled and plumbed the dresser. He put caulking around the sink. It was 1:00 at this time and he was very slow to finish. He cleaned up and put the lights back in place (even though I said I would do that). Then since he was there I asked him to look at a hot water spigot on the shower. He took it off and put it back on correctly. He took a picture of the inside cartridges and said he could find them. He thought they would be about $50 each. I told him he could call if he found them but that I get them and would fix it. His estimate also included cutting part of the chair rail, which we didn't do because the dresser fit well without doing that. He was finished by 1:30 p.m. and I paid him the $782.00. I actually have no problem with his work. He was friendly and was knowledgeable about what he did. I just felt incredibly stupid for paying that sum to install a sink. He worked 5 hours which comes out to over $150 per hour even with the supply line and drainer pipe. I would not use Guardian Plumbing again but only because of the price.

He showed me what the problem was, why it was leaking. He explained what would have to be done to repair it correctly. he gave me a price before he proceeded. That was the price i paid when he was finished. Great job.

Very good. He was very prompt and worked fast, including doing a few other extra things that were minor but showed his attentiveness to the entire plumbing setup/house and not just the job at hand. Would definitely hire again.

Joel installed a chlorine generator on our pool. He was on time and came up with several useful ideas that were employed. An additional shut off valve was purchased to enable the safe removal of the control cell for periodic cleaning. This will prevent water from emptying from the pool. He cut access into the pool storage unit for the electrical and electronics hook up. He also installed a new 20 amp receptacle and cover that were 13 years old. After the install was completed he set up the control module and performed start up tests. Overall, it was a great job.

Called Joel because of his ratings on Angies List. First visit was to trouble shoot the problem. He communicated with A.O. Smith and they sent a new control unit (under warranty, would have been $400 otherwise). On second visit he installed the unit and also installed two oil-filled gauges on the fire system in our home. He also gave us pointers to keep dusty items away from water heater as it draws in air, so we made those adjustments. A few days later had problems with this water heater again and Joel was right back (no charge this time) he again is communicating with AO Smith and they are sending another part. This has been frustrating but Joel has been there for us at every turn. Before we installed this water heater we researched it and wanted to put in the best and most efficient on the first go-a-round ($2500) so we made the selection as per above. We had no problems for the first two years and now this. Joel will be back to install the new part soon. I would hire Joel again with out any hesitation. He is professional, and very nice to work with. He gives his honest opinion when asked a question. He treats yours questions as he was answering them for himself and his family.

I Called Guardian plumbing based on reviews on A.L. and the fact that they weren't one of the BIG overpriced corporations. I left a message to call me back regarding a kitchen faucet/valve leak. Just a few minutes later Joel called me back to see how he could help. After explaining what I was looking for Joel said that he could meet me at my house later that day. He was very prompt, in fact he was already looking under my sink by the time I got home from work. Joel looked over the job, which was to install a new faucet, replace 20 year old plumbing that had been slowly leaking for some time, along with replacing shut off valves that would interfere with a hose on the new faucet. While inspecting loose fittings on the drain at the garbage disposal Joel also noticed that the garbage disposal itself was ready to fall off. Joel walked me through our whole well/water softener/filter system, he explained the workings of the system and things to look for, he showed me things that will need some attention in the future but were not emergencies at the time. Based on all that Joel found he gave me a price with a couple of options. The price he gave me to remedy a potential big water issue down the road seemed fair, the only reason I gave a B grade is because ALL Plumbers prices seem high. From start to finish Joel may have been at the house for 2 hours, he was very professional, friendly and informative. I would reccommend him to anyone with plumbing issues, and will be using his services agian in the future.

I called and recieved same day service. I had a leak in the basement and not sure where it came from. Joel found the problem right away and replaced the pipe. He even took at look at my toliet and replaced filter at no extra cost. Thanks Joel! I would use them again and recommend Guardian for all your plumbing needs.

We have an up flush pump for the basement bathroom and the motor went out which meant the toilet, tub and sink couldn't be used. This happened thursday evening. We called that night and Joel was out the next day around 2. By a little after 4 there was a whole new pump in and he cleaned out the tub and sink incase some of the sewage came up the pipes while he was working on it. He also replaced some piping for our up flush pump and our sump pump. Since our pump needed completely replaced he had to run out to get the pump and it still didn't take long! I was very happy! We mentioned we found him on Angie's list and we got 10% off!

Joel arrived on time and I found him to be very professional, courteous, and patient in explaining everything. He put booties on over his shoes every time he came in and out of the house. He was organized and cleaned up after himself. I would call him again for my plumbing needs.

Called and had someone out with in a few hours later. They were in and out & very professional. Please to do business with, will definitely call back with any other problem we may have. I also got 10% off for mentioning I found them through Angie's List.

Their estimate was reasonable for the work. They were good. They were efficient and pleasant.

I called guardian and asked them to come out and finish installing my new kitchen sink. They were able to come out the next morning. The technician was very courteous and removed his shoes at the door when he saw ours out there. We have a 13 month old and try to keep our floors clean for him. He preformed the work very quickly and efficiently. Would definitely use them again.

Arrived at the time scheduled and completed the work in about 4 hours - cleaned up and tested the new system.

He was punctual. He was ready to work and worked in an orderly manner from the upstairs bathrooms down to the kitchen.

Overall totally satisfied. We would and definatly use again. They were nothing less than professional. Always punctual and super clean.
