Martin and team are awesome. We recommend them to everyone. If you are looking to finish your basement, these are THE GUYS. Don't look anywhere else. Martin has this work mastered, they don't disturb the rest of your house during the project, and the results are better than expected. Can't thank Martin enough!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Martin and his team were exceptional. They took great care from start to finish to make sure our basement project was done perfectly. They brought everything in/out through our egress window. Every day the work area was cleaned up and orderly. The workmanship is fantastic and it is evident that Martin takes extreme pride in his work. Martin’s communication was top notch. Our job stayed on track and we never had to worry about anything. Above all, Martin is one of the nicest guys ever. I recommend him wholeheartedly if you want an amazing basement. Thank you, Martin and Phil!

Martin Hartel is, hands down, the absolute best at what he does. When you hire Martin you can be confident that not only will the end result be amazing, but the entire process will be so stress free and pleasant. From the very first conversation, I was impressed and knew we made the right choice. We contacted Martin before we settled on the new home we were purchasing. We let him know that the basement was going to be used solely as my photography studio/work area and time was an important factor as I wouldn’t be able to work until this space was finished. Martin showed up on the same day as settlement to get to work immediately! He communicated every single step and detail along the way. He took all of my ideas into consideration and brought them to life, even offering some of his own ideas and making very helpful suggestions along the way. His attention to detail can be seen in his absolutely flawless craftsmanship/work. I truly believe his quality of work would be very hard to beat or even match. It’s very evident that Martin takes great pride in his work. Not only do you get excellent communication and top notch work, but Martin is a genuinely amazing human being. There were many times throughout our basement finishing process (we were moving in at the same time) where Martin would so graciously stop what he was doing to lend a hand to us, to people delivering appliances, another contractor working in another area of the home or any place he could for that matter…all while keeping up with the timeline he gave us with his own work. That is not something we could have ever expected, but were so so thankful for. Martin goes out of his way to make sure you get everything you’re looking for in a new basement living space (or work in my case!) and so much more. We ended up with a whole experience that FAR exceeded our expectations and a final result that was even better than anything I ever imagined! I’m certain if I told him once, I told him 100 times…We fully appreciate that he just specializes in basement finishing, but sure do wish he did other things because we would hire him for absolutely ALL of our projects!!! We could not possibly be any more happy or pleased with our decision to hire Martin Hartel!

Martin and his team remodeled my super large basement and they did such magnificent job that we want to spend all day there. It has become the most beautiful part of our house, and the most entertaining, with our ping pong table, games, beds for guests and what not. Martin and his partner Phil were all around fantastic. From day one, Martin listened to what we wanted, asked us great questions, and offered suggestions that made the project even better than expected. His quote for the job was very reasonable, and he stuck to it. Martin kept in constant contact with us and let us know what was happening and when it would happen every step of the way. Martin and Phil's craftsmanship is on display everywhere you look. I will be recommending Hartel Group to anyone I hear is planning a basement remodel.

The Hartel group did an outstanding job finishing our basement. They were professional, paid close attention to detail, had good communication and cleaned up when the project was finished. Martin worked with us on the design and small details throughout the project. He also gave great design recommendations, allowing us to utilize the most of our space. We will be having the Hartel group back to finish the second half of our basement when we are ready! Martin and his team did an excellent job! They transformed our basement from dingy storage space to a beautiful media and playroom for our kids. Aside from the high quality craftsmanship, we really appreciated the daily communication. Martin let us know the up to date schedule and he was always here when he said he would be.

I am so happy and fortunate to have been able to use their services to complete our dream basement. First of all, Martin has so much experience, expertise and skill. His craftsmanship is impeccable. And his ability to work with you to pull out your ideas, and turn them into reality, is awesome. He is extremely patient and smart, and knows how to balance cost and quality to deliver what you want at a fair price. Some of the things that most impressed me were his attention to detail, desire to do quality work, and just their overall goal to make sure the client is happy. I could tell he was treating my job as if he was finishing his own basement. The framing and wiring were impeccable. Many contractors will do sloppy work with wiring, figuring it will be covered anyway. Martin’s wiring was so clean, smartly run, and used the best materials. The subcontractors he works with are also top notch. The drywall and painting were done quickly and to a high standard. Finally, the overall design and fit and finish were excellent. Everyone who sees our basement is blow away. From the wet bar, to the bathroom, to the custom iron railing, everything is perfect. And I can tell you that his price was substantially better than what the builder wanted to basically do four walls and lighting. Honestly I’m so pleased I wish he could remodel my whole house! If your considering a basement remodel project, do yourself a favor and try to get on Martin’s schedule. You won’t regret it!

Martin pays close attention to detail even inside the wall. The framing was high quality, exacting and built to last. The finish carpentry is also high end. Martin can give excellent suggestions on finishing ideas or work with your plan. He can also adapt to changes that might come up during the job. The finished product exceeds the standards of my high end builder home and an excellent cost base. I would gladly work with him in the future.

Martin and his team at Hartel Construction were beyond amazing. From the very first meeting, my husband and I knew he was the right guy for our job. We were looking to finish our basement and turn it into a family hang out/play space for our child. He gave us a super fair estimate and a start date and remained on schedule/ahead of schedule the entire project. I liked that his payment plan was super honest, as well. Providing payments along the way helps make sure that we were happy, but also giving him assurance to be paid on time, as well. He paid attention to detail, bringing things to our attention, providing suggestions, and answering any questions we had along the way. We did make a few changes to our initial plan, but things kept moving forward without missing a beat. The quality of his work is also exceptional. He made custom built-ins for our son's toys and they turned out amazing. At the end of his job, he did a walk through and paid attention to our notes and comments and at the end of it all, we were BEYOND pleased. The dedication to his work that him and his team have is super hard to find in other companies. There were no hidden fees, no sneaky "additional costs" based on "found" problems. His team is honest, hardworking and just plain nice guys. If you are looking to have your basement remodeled, we DEFINITELY recommend Hartel. You will not be disappointed!

Hartel came highly recommended by some of our neighbors, at least 8 of which used them for their basement renovations. Now that our job is done, we can understand why! Martin and his Team did a fantastic job assisting us in the development of our space, making reco's and providing photo's of past work to help us make our decisions. They were prompt, precise, and kept the job site clean. They met our timing needs and were extremely flexible. Our project included adding a Powder Room, Bar and TV area as well as a space specifically for our gym equipment. We finished approximately 900 square feet of our basement area. The job was well done on time and at a fair price. Our basement is beautiful and will be a great space for sharing good times with family and friends. We will happily recommend Martin and Hartel Construction Group to others...in fact we already have. Great job!

The fact that I didn't hire this company but still giving them a positive review should tell you something! Martin is a fantastic young man, friendly and does excellent work as I've seen the jobs he's done. My story is we simply couldn't come up with the money. I would recommend this man and his company ten fold for anyone looking for a basement remodel..just look at his reviews. If you read this Martin maybe someday we will be able to hire you. Martin and his team did a fantastic job in completing my basement refinishing project. He made many helpful suggestions during the process in guiding me to a beautiful finished product. The workmanship is excellent and the materials used were high quality. The team worked very clean and the job was completed on time. The Hartel team is absolutely a professional group. Martin's ideas and suggestions were extremely helpful for my wife and I to develop a plan we could agree on. From framing, to drywall, to electrical, to plumbing, this is one stop shopping. Their attention to detail is excellent. They come and go through the egress window eliminating dirt in the living area. The only time they entered the living area was when the items they had to bring in, drywall or doors, wouldn't fit through the window. At the end of every day, they swept the area they were working on, keeping the entire basement very clean. The job was completed in a timely manner and on schedule. I would absolutely use this contractor for any future basement remodeling.

As I know reviews are an important part of my decision making, I based my assessment on a few key areas: 1. Quoting Process: Martin Hartel and the Hartel Construction Group was the 4th group we had in to review our job. He provided excellent insight on the construction process, offered suggestions on how we could accomplish our goals for the basement, and was open/flexible to our input. Although I knew after our first meeting, he was likely to be our choice (even prior to the quote), he met with us (3) times to ensure we were all on the same page. When it came to the quoting process, the details were clear, the pricing was fair, and the drawing he provided helped us easily visualize our project. 2. Construction Process: To start, the Hartel Construction Group was very punctual... every day. They were efficient, conscious of being in our home, and worked hard. Unlike a new build, where it is sometimes tough to see the day to day progress or more importantly, the attention to detail, with a basement project you have that opportunity. Needless to say, their attention to detail is best in class. Whether it was how the electric was run, the placement of mechanicals, the finishing work, or their organized work area, it was great to see this level commitment to our project. 3. Communication: Martin did a nice job of providing updates on the progress made and the next steps. He was always open to feedback and took the time to explain various aspects of the job. Knowing that change-orders are inevitable, Martin helped provide timelines to ensure decisions were made to minimize cost and disruptions. Additionally, his communication eliminated both surprises, and more importantly, disappointments. In conclusion, I have nothing but positive feedback for the way Hartel Construction Group handled our basement project. We had a vision for our basement and Martin and his team helped us realize it. They were professional, courteous and simply great to work with from start to finish. We are very happy with how everything worked out. Martin and Jordan’s attention to detail is the absolute best. From a very quick and fair quote, to a fast start, and spectacular end product, we can’t say enough about their work. They worked with us through every phase of the project with utmost professionalism and patience. They also offered alternative ideas that were integrated into the project and not because they wanted additional fees but because their experience dictated a much better outcome. Additionally, they are just nice friendly gentlemen who want the best outcome for their customers. We hired Martin to completely renovate the interior of our 1957 ranch home. This entailed a full kitchen remodel and 2 full bathrooms plus replacing all of the interior doors and interior trim. Electrical and plumbing work was required as the project progressed. Martin's attention to detail and communication skills were evident all through the remodel. We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend Hartel Construction Group.
