Martin is the BEST! He did an absolutely amazing job on our basement and we couldn't be happier. I shopped around, getting quotes from several other companies, and they were all so rude and acted like doing our basement was a waste of their time. I came across the Hartel Group, called after hrs to leave a message and to my surprise, Martin answered. We talked for several minutes about what I wanted done...he was so polite, he didnt make me feel like I was wasting his time. After meeting with him in person, getting a prompt quote, I decided to got with him. Everyday, he showed up when he said he was going to, cleaned up before he left and finished right on time! He kept us in the loop on everything he did and gave us so many other suggestions on little things we would have never thought of. I have included before and after pics here. After reading reviews on Angie's List, we contacted Martin Hartel for an estimate. After our first meeting with him, his assessment, and reasonable estimate, we knew we didn't have to seek other estimates. He was the one! Martin is very easy to work with, and he was prompt and responsive at all times from the beginning to the end of the basement project. He was the best contractor we have ever worked with, and we highly recommend! We have already referred him to two of our neighbor friends and he has finished one basement and will be finishing another one this spring. It took Martin and his team 5-6 weeks to complete our basement. Very fast! His team is professional, clean and very thorough. He is an excellent, experienced project manager with vision and possesses expert carpentry skills. We love how he opened up our stairwell and his suggestions and finishing touches that make the space very comfortable and convenient for our family. His HVAC contractor set up two zones for our house and the easy care, water proof Cortec flooring is practical and very attractive. Our basement had an existing rough-in bathroom but we added a kitchenette adjacent to the bathroom (easier to tap into the plumbing) to the floor plan. We love it all and are very pleased with the additional space. Thank you so much!

We got Martin's name from a neighbor as we liked their basement remodel/ with bar. We have since passed his name to other neighbors and everyone agrees he comes up with great ideas, solves problems and is a perfectionist about quality. The basement is now the best part of our house and we get compliments from everyone who comes into our house. It doesn't seem like a basement anymore but just more room in our house. We added a bar, a bathroom and an entertainment area while keeping two unfinished areas for storage.

Awesome!!! Martin and his crew were very professional through every step of the process. They submitted the plans to the township for permits and handled all of the inspections without any problems. During the construction they would come and go as they needed and if you didn’t hear the noise from the tools, you wouldn’t know that they were even in your house! EVERY DAY when they were finished, the tools were put away, the floor was swept and supplies were neatly stacked out of the way. The quality of the work and their concern for detail was exceptional. In particular, the neon sign that we were installing in the wall was a little unusual and required some thinking on your feet. Martin and his crew did an excellent job with installing the sign and the finish details around it. We couldn’t be happier with both Hartel Construction and the service that they provided.

Martin and his team were extremely professional and highly communicative throughout our basement renovation project. We had many ideas regarding the overall design and Martin was able to execute our vision with perfection! Martin and his team were very knowledgable and detail oriented. Martin made sure that we were fully educated regarding decisions that were made to enhance the functionality of our space. We had recently hired a basement waterproofing company to put in a sump pump and waterproofing system in our basement. We also had them rip out all of the walls in our basement so that we could start from scratch with a new basement remodel. We got quotes from three basement remodeling companies, including Hartel construction. Hartel's quote was the lowest price, and also had the most detailed proposal and the best plan for our basement. We absolutely love the results, and we found it to be a great value for the money. Martin, the owner of the company, did a great job of communicating with us throughout the remodeling process. He is very responsive via text message and phone. He kept us posted continually on the progress of the job. We were pleased with their work, so we requested several items of additional work along the way. These were handled quickly and done for a very reasonable price. We saw some photos of custom bookshelves from one of Martin's previous projects, and we asked for some similar custom bookshelves. They turned out great and the price was reasonable. We also asked Martin to do a couple of additional tasks such as putting in a new exterior light, an exterior electrical outlet and hose bib. We also asked them to put in a new kitchen floor for us. These also turned out great and were completed for a very affordable price. At the end of each work day, they did a good job cleaning up the area. Martin and all of his company's employees were very polite and considerate when interacting with me, my wife, and my kids. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

We had heard good things about Hartel Group prior to hiring them but when we called we knew right away that this was the best company to go with to finish our basement. Martin and his crew were very professional, courteous, and, most importantly, communicative. Every step he took he walked us through it and did an excellent job of explaining how he did things. Our opinions and desires were taken into consideration and, if Martin knew of a better option for us, either cost effective or more suitable to the overall construction of the room, he explained it to us so that we could understand. We were able to keep in constant communication with him, ask questions, and the feedback he offered us was invaluable. He and his team did an excellent job within an acceptable amount of time and was very flexible when it came to last minute requests or concerns, within reason of course. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Once Martin and his guys started we could not have been more satisfied with the work that they did. They arrived daily when they said they would be there and they treated our house like it was their own. As the process was moving along they offered suggestions for changes that they thought made sense for our project and not just something that would drive up their final bill. They were also quick to respond to any changes we wanted to make through the process. At the end of the day we could not have been happier with our choice of Hartel Construction and would highly recommend to anyone who would ask.

I couldn't be happier with the results. Everyone was so professional. I was able to go to work and leave them a key, without any worries of having them in my home while I was not there. Martin sent me pictures throughout the day of the progress and he was extremely responsive to any questions or minor issues that arose. He kept me informed about all of the work that was going on along the way. The team cleaned up all of the construction dirt at the end of each day. I would not hesitate to hire Hartel Group again! Excellent! These guys are top notch! The little things are often overlooked, but not with these guys! Soup to nuts...GREAT JOB! Competitive pricing with excellent craftsmanship. They also help you out allow the way with suggestions, but still let YOU decide vs. other contractors just kind of do what THEY want. Keep site clean, professional yet fun to deal with and show up when expected OR let you know otherwise.

Martin provided a competitive quote and was very knowledgeable on how to proceed with the basement project which is the reason why I selected him. They arrived as scheduled, were here every day on time, even worked some weekends to get the job completed on time. These guys busted their butts and did a great job. They cleaned up at the end of each day. I especially like Martin's flexibility to make changes in the middle of the project. I also gave Martin free reign to suggest ideas that would make my basement more livable and he did a tremendous job. Martin is a perfectionist and is a master carpenter, and it shows. I highly recommend the Hartel group for any basement remodeling project.

The project went great! The basement was completed in the time frame expected, and they were always on time each day. Martin always communicated with me, and let me know if there was a change in the weekly schedule. The quality of the work was outstanding! I was impressed with the skill and attention to detail in their work. Everyone that worked on the project was friendly and professional. At the end of each day the area was cleaned and organized. The basement looks fantastic!

Everything went very well. All team members were extremely nice and professional. Work was performed as expected and they were amazingly clean about everything - all areas not in the "zone" were draped and nothing was ever left "messy" at the end of any work day. They were amenable to small changes as the work progressed and change ordered items as necessary as well as making additional recommendations as needed. The end result was everything I wanted!

Martin exceeded our expectations. His wealth of experience allowed for trouble-shooting on the front end, like where to put outlets, how to hide pipes, the addition of molding above the bar, etc. His suggestions saved money and added to our enjoyment of the basement. He is a perfectionist. He never cut corners. The quality of work was extremely high. I only wish I could hire someone like Martin for every single service job I would ever need. I appreciated how much pride he takes in his work. We recommended him to our friends who live down the street and they contracted with him as well.

Martin and his team were great! The estimate came to us quickly and Martin communicated with us throughout the entire process. He started the job earlier than expected and had a lot of great suggestions for what we could do in a space that had funky pipes, load-bearing supports and an odd under the steps space. Very professional, detail-oriented and the level of workmanship was clearly evident. The entire experience was fantastic. I would hire him again in a heartbeat!

Martin and his crew are very courteous, detail oriented, hard-working and maintain a level of professionalism. The quality of the their work is second to none, top notch! I have experience with construction projects and must praise Martin and his crew for the materials used and their workmanship. The drywall, electrical, and trim was all done with complete satisfaction, there was no cutting corners. They ensured there was more than sufficient lighting, receptacles and future wiring for cable TV or additional electrical lines. At the end of every day they would clean up any debris, organize tools and materials keeping safety a number one priority. Martin would check in with me on a regular basis giving a progress report of the job. The project was kept on the timeline as promised, completing the entire job in only three weeks, even with one of the crew members having a family emergency and needing to leave for a few days. I have dealt with many contractor's who give schedules, but few tend to keep on track. This was so much appreciated! Martin makes sure he follows all the local and governmental rules and regulations. Upon electrical inspection, the inspector commented "another well done job by Hartel". It is refreshing to see a team work so well together and take so much pride in their work. My wife and I are totally satisfied with the work done by Martin and his crew. Our finished basement exceeds our expectations and we would highly recommend Hartel for your project!

Martin and his team were 100% professionals from start to finish. He arrived on time for our initial consult and walked through the project/quote with open ears and was more than willing to make great suggestions. Throughout the project his team was always on time, courteous and conscious of the amount of dirt and dust they were creating and sought to minimize the impact on our daily lives. Numerous times, he and his team pointed out related issues with plumbing or the HVAC system that needed attention that saved us a ton of money on what would certainly be future repairs. Martin started the project exactly when he said he would and finished ahead of schedule. We have had multiple renovations on other parts of our house over the past two years and working with Martin was the best experience by far! I only wish we would have started working with him earlier.

Martin Hartel was very easy to work with and he would listen to what we wanted and make suggestions to best meet the needs of the space we were trying to acquire. He was extremely knowledgeable working on our 40 yr old house that needed some extra TLC and updating...ie: plumbing issues/old pipes, moving the water heater, and wiring. He helped us think through the pros and cons of different options so we were able to make the best choices for our space. He was very reliable and kept constant communication as the job proceeded. We are very happy with the results and would highly recommend him and his team. We plan to have him back when we are ready for the next phase!

From start to finish, Martin and his crew were timely, professional, and the quality of the end product is outstanding! We received a detailed estimate within a week, and the work was completed in the time frame that was stated. The suggestions that Marin gave to us for the finishing of the area were spot on, and many were things we never would have thought of. Instead of entering the home each day thru the front door, Martin and his crew used the window egress. All supplies and tools, except for drywall and 2 tools were bought into the basement this way. This was less intrusive to us and very clean. At the end of each day, the work area was clean and neat. Communication with Martin was always open, and no detail went unnoticed. Again I cannot stress enough how pleased we are with Hartel Construction Group. Well done Martin and team, well done.

Martin did a fantastic job from start to finish. He made a lot of suggestions as we went along about things we never considered including lots of lighting and electrical outlets. He and his crew were flexible as we threw a few changes along the way. They were very professional and really kept the area clean. The craftsmanship is top notch - the basement doesn't feel like a regular "finished basement" - it's actually just another level of great living space as they were able to keep 9' ceiling throughout. They even put finishing touches in areas like closets. For the HVAC they suggested dual zones, so we now have the added bonus of a warm second floor (it never really got toasty in the winter) along with heat and AC in our bonus room on the second floor. It seemed like they always made an effort to do more. One example - the day they were installing our 70" tv. They opened the box, and the tv screen was cracked. Martin offered to load the tv into his truck and take me to the store to exchange it. It's the little things like that that really make a difference! They finished the job faster than I anticipated, even though we had a couple of minor delays along the way (township scheduling - not the contractor's fault). I would 100% recommend them to my friends and neighbors and would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Martin and his team were great and very professional. They used the fire escape to enter the house, which was perfect especially since I have dogs. Martin was great with ideas and communicated progress and changes throughout the entire project. He was very innovative with ideas and exceeded all expectations. His team is awesome as well. Always answered questions I had. He was great working within our tight schedule of wanting the project completed. Couldn't ask for a better experience. The basement looks amazing. It is now our favorite room in the house. It's perfect for our family. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a remodeled or finished basement and I don't say that lightly. We have had two other contractors this year one for tree installation and one for a backsplash, neither of wish I would recommend to my worst enemy. Call Martin you won't be disappointed. I just wish he did whole houses.
