We offer a full portfolio of chimney and masonry services. Whether it’s woodstoves, fireplaces, chimneys, or dryer vents, we understand the intricacies of the venting systems in your home. We are equipped to address all of your maintenance and safety needs. We have serviced your community since 1990.
I presently have two open fireplaces and was seeking input on which fireplace to install a fireplace wood insert. Matt arrived on-time and looked over my floor plan, asked questions regarding the types of wood I plan to burn, how often I plan to burn and my experience with wood stoves. He was knowledgeable and genuine. He was able to address my concerns about clean outs, inspections, cat vs. non-cat stoves, blowers and passive registers, etc. He provided a written estimate on-site. While many chimney sweeps attempt to talk you out of self maintenance, such as cleaning your own chimney, Matt was fully supportive of the decision, provided a few safety suggestions and supplied me information on their inspection services if I needed them. This really impressed me.

I used this company last year after an absence of several years due to the exact problem that occurred today. All went well last year so when the postcard came this year announcing the date of service, I decided to use them again. I called last week to confirm the appointment, gave them my work number and asked for a call if the appointment needed to be changed so I would not leave work needlessly. I got a confirmation call last Friday. Today, I left work and arrived home to an answering machine message from the technician saying that they were running super early due to the rain and asking if they could come early. Since I had not been home to receive the message, I called back to find out what was going on, There was no answer, and the mailbox was full so I could not leave a message. I called the company. There I was told that my service for the day had been cancelled because the technician had come to the house and realized that he could not use the ladder to reach the top of the chimney so he cancelled the service for the day. I have no idea when I was going to be informed of this fact if I had not called. I asked why I had not been called at work and was told that there was no record of my call or my number. I informed her that they had not cleaned the chimney from the top ever so I had no idea why that would be a problem. I was told that there were pictures of the chimney top so apparently at some time they did so. However, they regularly did not do so which is one reason why I had stopped using them. The other reason was that that this exact same scenario occurred previously. A request to call me at work was ignored causing me to use vacation time and missing work for no reason. The receptionist did offer to schedule another time at my convenience, but I declined. I will not be using this company again.

This was the most comprehensive and thorough cleaning of the chimney and wood stove since the house was built and the stove installed in 2000. Mike and Greg were very prompt, and their attention to detail, documentation, and cleaning were the best ever. Mike showed us the before and after pictures to confirm the chimney is clean and the stove ready for the first fires of the season. I will definitely use them again!
Anderson's inspected the premises and quoted a cost of $3,365 to perform the work. After I signed the contract and submitted the deposit, Anderson's called me to tell me that they wouldn't do the work for the contract amount quoted, but would do the work for $5,200. The Anderson/s employee who spoke with me said the Anderson's employee who had prepared the initial quote had underestimated the cost. I reminded the employee who I was speaking to that we had a legally binding contract in place, but that did not alter his position. I offered to split the difference between the initial quote of $3,365 and the new price; that was not acceptable to Anderson's. I did not accept the revised price; Anderson's did not perform the work; and Anderson's returned my deposit.

I called them and set up an appointment in December, 2015. They came out and took some photos of the chimney and said they would provide me with an estimate. They said they could not start the work until spring because of the cold weather. They also believed that part of the previous work they performed was under a warranty but they would double check this and let me know when they provided me with an estimate. I never received an estimate so I called them about the first week of March 2016. The lady who answered the phone pulled the file and told me the photos were in there but no estimate was performed so she told me she would have someone get right on it, provide an estimate and contact me. Well it is now 3/28, three weeks later, no phone call, letter and no estimate. I decided they simply did not want to perform the work so I contacted another company who was prompt and provided me with an estimate the day he looked at the chimney. He is scheduled to repair the chimney next month.
Description of Work: They were suppose to provide me with an estimate on the cost of repairing/re-pointing my chimney. They had provided this same service on the same chimney about 7 years ago.

Mr [Member Name Removed] I want to apologize for totally dropping the ball not once, but twice with your job. This is not (normally) how Anderson's operates. I have gone over your issues with us with Mr Anderson, and again with the company as a whole, so we can make sure this doesn't happen with any other customer. I know this doesn't help you at this point, but I do appreciate you letting us know so we can improve our service on every level. Thank you

We were very pleased as they were prompt and polite. I can' say much about the price because we didn't shop around much, but the inspector was knowledgeable and gave us good information about what we needed and the work being done. My only complaint would be that they said they would silicone a crack in our exterior chimney where it has separated slightly from the house. They forgot (no big deal as it wasn't essential to the repair, more of a piece of mind thing for us) and my husband tried to follow up a few times with no response. We will be obtaining our annual inspection this spring in order to keep up with the lifetime warranty and will check in then.
Description of Work: They did an inspection and chimney sweep in May and the came back in June to install a liner. Due to the access in the basement for the chimney, they had to do some masonry work as well.

They came out on 11/1/14 and determined that both chimneys required repairs. They could not do the repairs until 11/29/14, when I was told that they would be at my home at 8:30. They arrived at 9:40, without one of the parts needed to do all of the repairs. They claimed that their supplier wasn't open- I don't know why, with 28 days to get the needed part, they waited until the last day. Then they offered to come and finish on Tuesday! (I'm supposed to take a day off work because they can't think ahead?) They will be coming back on Monday to finish their work. In the meantime, we cannot use the coal stove. It has taken them a month and three actual days of being at home with them for them to make these repairs.

I apologize for the inconvenience of your appointment. This is our busiest time of year and unfortunately our schedule really reflects that this year. The technicians did make me aware of not having the thimble that they purchase at the mason yard, for the first time the mason yard decided to close on that weekend due to Thanksgiving which we did not anticipate. I will make a note of this on your account and we will also make a note to give you a $25 dollar discount off your next service as an apology for your inconvenience. Thank you so much for your review and we look forward to being your sweep for life.

Called and asked for an estimate for a new chimney liner. Gave person my name and number and was told somebody would call and set up a date/time to give estimate. A few days later I received a call and set-up my appointment for July 24 between the hours of 2-4PM. Two day's before appointment I received a call from the same individual who wanted to give me a reminder of appointment. On the day of the appointment, I came home at 1PM. Not wanting to waste my time I went to the back of my house and began working on a deck project. I had put a note on both doors stating that I was out back of the house. NOBODY SHOWED UP--NOBODY CALLED TO SAY THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE MAKE IT!!!! I called the following day and spoke to the woman who answers the phone to ask what had happened. The woman told me that she would check. Was told that there was a note in a log book that person was not home. I explained that I was home 1 hr before the scheduled arrival time and had a note on both doors telling them where I was at. I asked if they had tried to call and was told yes. NO MESSAGE LEFT ON MY MACHINE. The woman kept on saying she was sorry thru out the conversation and continued to ask to set up another appointment. I don't think so. Think I'll take my business elsewhere

Hello, Thank you for your review. I did check our files, it looks like there were 2 inspections done at your property the day of service, I also saw a note in there to go back and remeasure for a chase cover since it was very wet out that day and the roof was pretty steep. I do apologize that the follow up appointment was overlooked by the secretaries when they entered the job details back into the computer. If you would like to have them come out and measure for the cap, please call me and I will schedule your appointment as well as give you a discount off the chase cover for our mistake. The Chimney cleaning went well. But as they did the cleaning, they said they detected some problems inside my chimney and recommended a $2100 fix called Heat Guard. While my research verified that this is a legitimate product, further estimates and consultations with home repair experts have indicated that this service is not necessary for my chimney?especially not at the level of "we recommend that it's not safe to burn a wood fire", which is the verbal and printed warning with which I was left. I emailed the company owner to learn the nature of the threat and no one responded. It is disheartening to learn of a reputable company that, in doing the service contracted for, will "discover" something that needs fixing, and an expensive fix at that. This often happens more with women home owners?and especially those with gray hair! Fortunately, I have common sense and have found reliable people to give me an honest assessment of what my chimney needs.

Hello, Thank you for your review. I wanted to first let you know I checked with Mr Anderson to see if he received an email from you about your concerns, we double checked and an email was not received by us. The procedure that was quoted to you was using our product Heat Shield which we are certified installers of that product. I did look at your pictures from the day of your appointment and the flue clearly has cracks in the flue tiles and also missing mortar joints in between the tiles. Because of the cracks and missing joints this makes the chimney flue against NFPA (national fire prevention agency) code 211. Our technicians were correct in their assessment of the flue and they by law as a certified sweep must deem the system unusable if it does not meet the code requirements . I am very sorry if the Heat Shield procedure was not explained to you thoroughly, if you would like further details on how the process is done please feel free to contact me in the office either by phone or email and I would be more than happy to explain it to you. I don't ever want a customer to feel like they were not treated fairly for any reason, this industry has a lot of scammer companies that do tend to prey on females and the elderly. My goal is to ALWAYS set us above those companies by making our customers feel like a customer and not a number. If I can answer any questions for you, please don't hesitate to call or email me. Thanks so much..Heather Wakefield Office Manager

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate. The soonest they could get out was about a week and half, which was fine. They were prompt and professional. Two guys came to look at the damage. They looked at the closet where the problem started, then the attic where the chimney was exposed enough to see direct chimney damage, then the basement. They were convinced that the chimney was beyond repair and we would need to run a whole new insulated Class A chimney from our boiler and up the side of our house. I had expected something along these lines and knew the price would be high. Estimated cost was $4800. I had a few other chimney sweeps in and got different opinions, and we ended going with someone else, a mason AND certified chimney sweep who told us that the chimney actually was in pretty good shape for being as old as it was, and that he would have no problem putting in a stainless steel liner, that a new chimney would not be necessary. It was still expensive, but it was half the cost and we were able to use the existing structure. I would use Anderson again, but they wouldn't be my first choice.
Description of Work: Anderson came out to give us an estimate on some chimney repairs. We had interior plaster discoloration and bubbling, and chimney disintegration toward the upper level of the house (interior).

I had to contact the office on two separate office visits to talk about the work. The time management of the crew was odd and I learned that the management did like any type of questions about their work. The crew did return to re-do one of the crowns. I had taken pictures of the work completed - but was not rec'd well by Management. I will never use this company again, nor could I recommend this company to family or friends.

I'm sorry that you feel this way, I looked at your account and it looks like we did send our guys out to your property about 4 times to complete the job to your expectations. In reviewing the estimate give the pictures that you sent and the pictures the technicians took it does look like my guys did everything that was quoted on the original estimate and a little more actually just to ensure that you were pleased with the work. I'm sorry if you feel that management did not handle your concerns in the way you would have liked. They did an excellent job. The hearth is so clean I don't want to burn any more wood fires! During the inspection they found some damage to the inside of the chimney and showed me a photo taken from the roof. They presented me with an estimate of $2145 for what appears to be a new process of chimney coating that will help restore and protect it. I wasn't expecting this and am wondering if there's not a different and perhaps more reasonably priced way to protect the inside of the chimney. I looked on Angie's list for an alternative and there's only one other chimney sweep/repair company listed. I know Anderson has an excellent reputation so I'm not suspicious that the problem detected is not real. I'm just cautious and don't have lots of resources, so I want to proceed with caution and I don't want to pay huge amounts of interest if I go ahead with the job and finance it.

two men cameout to our home, two hours past time window and spent all of about 20 minutes inspecting, measuring, and then producing an estimate (it was past 5 on a Friday evening). They were very quick, unprofessional, snooty and acted like they were d*** us a HUGE favor for coming out. Since we had two other companies that already provided us estimates for the same work, we can honestly say their estimate was about 20% over the price of their competition. The written estimate was produced for us on the spot and we were never contacted again.

I do apologize if they did not call and that you felt like your appointment time was rushed, they are instructed to always call the customer if they are running late and they are never to make a customer feel like they are not 100% important. I will be bringing this to both of their attention. They were very, very good. It was a family-run operation and I felt they were very honest because there were things that I felt that they could have charged me for or off of their services for but they told me upfront, "We could do this for you but it will cost you a hundred dollars, you can go to Home Depot and get the same thing and do it yourself for thirty bucks." And all the suggestions they gave me, I used them. The chimney inspection and the chimney sweep, I did it and they suggested that I do it on my own which if they had done it, it would have cost me three times much more than they charge the hourly rate. So I saved the cost of their labor and just go find the materials myself.
