Elite Concrete & Stone

Description of Work: Matt Ordean, owner, of Elite Concrete and Stone for an ambitious hardscape project designed by me, a local professional landscape designer. The projected consisted of rebuilding a 'dry stacked' field stone wall, installing 900 sq. ft' exposed aggregate patio and 300 sq. ft. of cut stone. I am sorry to report that we can not recommend Matt. The project remains unfinished 6 weeks since it began, is a mud pit and we are scrambling for a replacement contractor after having to fire him. He was unreliable, sometimes not showing up at all, sometimes leaving early and always providing a litany of excuses. Before signing the contract, he assured us he had an experienced crew of 4 and proper equipment. His credentials appeared legitimate. With the exception of 3 visits, he had only 1 laborer whom he had hired just recently from Craig's list and had borrowed a friend's Bobcat -and in short order had hit the side of the house. This experience is disappointing since Matt was always pleasant, seemed honest, worked in the neighborhood and his prices were fair. On several occasions and remaining perpetually patient, we expressed our concerns and even extended an offer of assistance by suggesting we find him laborers. However, Matt was insistent that he had the project under control and help would soon arrive. Unfortunately, he did not have control and help never materialized. I heard passion in his tone for his profession but sadly, we never saw the professionalism nor the capabilty to make "things" right. Perhaps in another 10 years, he'll get his business "right"
