Build With MD

Compared to other quotes I received, Shannon was open to any ideas and provided recommendations rather than telling me what I wanted. The quote was for two weeks and it was done in two weeks and the original estimate is what we paid. I would've liked to have all the options planned and picked before construction as some things were brought up as construction was going on, but that's a minor gripe. The deck is beautiful and we've had many neighbors come take a look offering compliments.

No complaints. They worked so fast. Only a couple days to wait for an in person estimate. Then the demo and rebuild of my deck only took one day! The crew was friendly and respectful.

Shannon was great! We needed a deck inspection and some advice and Shannon helped us out greatly. He showed up on time, was professional, and very friendly. If we need deck repairs in the future we'll come to him first!

If your contractor doesn't bother showing up for the price quote, you really can't count on them to show up for the job or if there are issues. Time changed a couple times when I called to see if they were coming. The last time, he said, I am on my way, will be there in 45 minutes (or whatever the time frame was). He had no intention of showing and didn't show up. I rescheduled to give them another chance and they cancelled. At least, they did that in advance.

This job was hard because the chimney was flush with the masonry wall of the house and was accessible by only a narrow alleyway. Shannon brought a small hitch to the front of the house to remove the debris. He sent photos and videos of all the work and called whenever he had an update or found something we had to make a decision on. We are especially happy with the look and strength of the roof where the chimney was removed. Shannon matched the old shingles. Shannon and his team accomplished all this in less than a day, kept everything clean, and got an outstanding result. Other masons and contractors did not want to bid on the work because it was a tough job in a small area. We’re again thrilled and will hire Build with MD again soon.

I needed to have work done on my elderly parents home. After trying unsuccessfully to just get someone to come and give me an estimate, I was given Shannon’s contact information. He came out and assessed the issue within a few days. By the end of the week, my parents had a new roof! Shannon and his crew showed up on time, worked hard and completed the project ahead of schedule. He was stellar at informing me of the progress and making sure we were satisfied. We chose Build with MD to replace our deck and I cannot speak more highly of them! After getting estimates from other vendors, their pricing was on par the other estimates we received. We chose them based on: responsive and high quality communication, solid reputation with good reviews, and a highly knowledgeable crew. We love hiring businesses where we can directly with the business owners -- and in this case Shannon and Nelson did not disappoint! For the initial meeting and estimate, Shannon assessed our existing deck and spoke for us about what options we had for replacing the existing footprint. We discussed pricing and various material options. As a pro Trex installer he shared the magnitude of color options we had for the deck and railing, bringing by the sample materials for us to view in our home. Having young kids, we wanted to make sure the area was safe for them by adding a gate -- they found the closest match and ensured it secured the area. When it came to the build, they handled our deck permit with the borough and ensured all was set before getting started. Nelson and the crew promptly arrived early every day and if there were any changes we were informed ahead of time. The crew was super helpful in providing us with daily updates and communicated with us every step of the way -- which is not the case with all contractors! The team worked hard to wrap the posts and take the deck itself to the next level (instead of leaving the posts as treated wood). Steps can be tricky, but the crew built our new steps. Not only are they safe, but they are comfortably set so that anyone in my family from kids to older folks have no issues going up and down. We love our new deck and I hope you trust Build with MD for your next deck replacement! We'll be using them again soon for more interior remodel and exterior work. This big project on a high steep roof was finished in five days, with no cost increases, and we are thrilled with our new roof. Will look forward to hiring Shannon and his team again soon. Shannon addressed all our concerns before beginning the project: he got us detailed information on the fasteners that would be used and their 50-year warranty, he discussed the ventilation options that made sense for our building, and he agreed to remove the existing old shingles to inspect the underlayment before adding the furring strips. During the work, Shannon checked in with us daily, giving us updates and sharing new information. For example, Shannon learned that the interior beneath the flat part of the roof was separate from the rest of the attic space, and he wanted us to know this as soon as he learned it. Shannon cares about the details. He installed commercial grade hip and ridge covers, and he was able to perfectly align the dormer sides with original carpentry on the front of each dormer. We highly recommend MD Construction and will hire Shannon and his team again.
