Jeremy Reich of Ingericks Basement Waterproofing & Construction was hired in July of 2013 to refinish our basement after we had a waterproofing system installed. He asked for 50% deposit ($1350) on the job and agreed to start on July 30th, 2013. On July 30th, he never showed. I had texted him, called him, and left a message. He finally returned my call stating he was in the hospital and could not make it for a few days. I later found out he was at a rock concert that night - not in the hospital. He finally showed up 2 weeks later and worked for a few hours. He left early stating he had a "work emergency" and would be back the next day to put in a "full days work". The following day he came back and that is when I realized he was not qualified for the job. He had no idea what he was doing. The framing (supposed to be pressure treated lumber - was not) was not plumb in the walls or anchored to the floor, the sheetrock he hung was pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle (was supposed to be greenboard - was not), the elevated bathroom floor was also rebuilt with no support and also put together with scrap materials like a jigsaw puzzle. The spackling was horrible, huge gaps, seems and tape showing through, cracks and dents, just a plain mess. It appeared that a five year old was plying with mud down there. When I confronted him on the quality of his work he got defensive and then his phone rang. He said his daughter was being taken to the hospital and he had to leave. I also found out this was not true. He was being harrassed by several other customers for not showing up to jobs or doing quality work. Several days had passed before we got in touch with him again and he stated he could not come back as his daughter was still in the hospital. in the mean time, we had another contractor come look at the work that he was doing. The licensed, insured, accredited contractor stated that everything would need to be torn out and redone. Including the electrical that he botched up. We contacted Jeremy on August 29, 2013 again to advise him of our findings and he agreed to give us a full refund of the deposit. He even gave us a check number and told us it was in the mail. We have not heard back from him since. We have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney State General, his insurance, and former employer. What should have only cost us $2700 to have done, will now cost us over $6000 in repairs. This man is a liar, a con-artist, and has no business doing construction for anyone. Beware!!!! Make sure you check references and insurance on any contractor you deal with and NEVER pay them in cash. Here's a link of a video I took so you can see for yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn-GUMigOu4
Description of Work: Jeremy Reich was hired to refinish our basement after a waterproofing system was installed. We paid him 50% up front ($1350). He repeatedly did not show or call when he said he would. When he finally did, he worked for two half days and we realized his work was extremely unprofessional and of poor quality. He destroyed our finished basement.
