A little longer than I expected, but still within estimated time frame. All the people who came to our house were very courteous, friendly, and professional, especially the installers. In fact, I would consider the installers "meticulous craftsmen."
Description of Work: Kitchen Magic replaced all the cabinet doors and handles in the kitchen and polished the existing Corian countertop.

Initial visit was by the Marvin, who was very professional and straightforward. He made it clear that this company was very service-oriented and he was absolutely right. Nancy was my overall coordinator. She did an excellent job coordinating all of the subcontractors and necessary materials. All subcontractors were professional, on time, and did wonderful work. The overall schedule was adhered to and was flexible to meet my needs. The overall professionalism of this company and the quality of work was outstanding. I would give them an A+ if I could.
Description of Work: Complete cabinet refacing throughout kitchen. Build of new island. Modify one existing cabinet. Provide and install new sink and new quartz countertops. Preparation of uneven backsplash area to get it ready for tile.

The weirdest experience ever! I called them to come out and give me the quote for new cabinets in the kitchen and they refused to even talk unless apparently the walls are down. the project that I have is my existing kitchen is going to expand into the dining room by taking the walls down and the representative said they can only come to my house to talk and look at the place to give suggestions/plans and then quote after all the construction is done. Why would I wait for contractor to take my present kitchen away and then start taking quotes from cabinet maker..they expect me to be without the kitchen for 4 months!! Out of their mind..Was completely useless. I dealt with atleast 5 different kitchen designers/cabinet makers ..None of them made that comment!

We met with the salesman (Marvin) who gave us a detailed description of the work to be performed. He gave us many options and we decided to hire them based on his recommendations of the company's professionalism and workmanship. He explained to us that they do not hire subcontractors and the work would be complete within one week. They began work on July 9th. Note that one week prior to work, I confirmed our schedule with Matt, who I believe is a scheduling person, in the following order: Day 1: demolition; day two: floors were being ripped out; day three: upper cabinets were to be installed; day four: lower cabinets were to be installed. Day 1: The carpenter (Tom) arrived at about 8:30 a.m. and removed all the old cabinets and the counter top which took approximately 5-6 hours. Upon speaking with Tom, I came to find out that though he wore a Kitchen Magic shirt, he was a subcontractor who got paid by the job. I found this alarming as Marvin advised us that they do not hire subcontractors and they were all part of Kitchen Magic. This was a very compelling reason for us to hire Kitchen Magic as I hear horror stories about dealing with subcontractors. But, at this point, it was already too late to reconsider our options. Day 2: Prior to the end of day 1, I advised Tom that our floors were to be ripped out so he did not return until Wednesday. I also let him know again that we will be getting our new floors installed on Friday. Day 3: When Tom arrived and saw there were no sub floors, he became agitated since, for the first time, he told me that he was going to complete the cabinet installation in one day and he needed to start with the lower cabinets. He further advised me that he could have gotten another job today if he had known and that it was a long drive for no work. I told him I confirmed the schedule with Matt which Tom relayed to me that he was new at scheduling. I told Tom that I would ask the floor person to install sub floors where he needed to install the cabinets but he nastily refused and said they wouldn?t do that. I said they could and would but he did not want to wait and just left. Day 4: Tom arrives and begins to install the cabinets. The cabinets are very nice. The quality and workmanship that went into them was beautiful but the completed install was lacking the same quality. There is spacing between some of the cabinet units and the trim looks terrible. They is one spot where the trim is much smaller and very noticeable. He was only able to install the shell of the cabinets -- no doors or drawers. He then proceeded to ask me for payment and I refused. I said that cabinet installation is not complete and he disagreed and became annoyed and rude. He said that since I had possession of the cabinets that I should pay him. I said that I do not know how to install cabinets and that the job was not complete. He became even more annoyed and said I am not going to argue with you but the company will want their money. I finally said to him that if I give you payment and you don't come back tomorrow then what will happen? I have no clue how to finish the job and you are a subcontractor - not employed by the company. Also, when I reminded him about our new floors being installed and became even more nasty and defensive and said that they better not be coming here tomorrow. He finally agreed to call me at 10:00 a.m. to confirm the floor was done since the floor guys were going to arrive at 8:30 a.m. Day 5: Tom arrived at 10:15 a.m. while the floor was just finishing and proceeding to perform work on the cabinet doors in the garage. One of the most disappointing attributes about Tom is that he never ask for my opinion on the trim or one where certain cabinet pulls were to go. There was one pull that I would have like on the other side so the two cabinets would open away from each other. Now what do we do to fix that problem? There was a soffit put in the cabinets that we found out was not needed but Tom never asked for my input and now we lost valuable cabinet space. The following week, the counter tops were installed followed by the back splash. The company who installed the back splash was advised to come at 10:00 AM because the counter top was supposed to be installed at 8:00 AM but they showed up at 8:30 AM. When I asked him if the office told him to come at 10:00 AM, he said no. He gave me his cell phone number and asked me to call him once the counter tops were installed. About 15 minutes before the counter top installation was complete, I tried contacting the back splash company but the phone number he gave me was incorrect. Even the counter top guy called Kitchen Magic to find out where the back splash guy was but was also unsuccessful. I finally called Matt at Kitchen Magic and asked him where the back splash company was. He said he would contact the company and call me back. Matt never called me back and 3 hours after the initial call to Kitchen Magic, the owner of the back splash company came to my home to install the back splash. This is another example of Kitchen Magic?s poor communication with its customers. Speaking of poor communication, Kitchen Magic offered us a free closet system but never told us when the person who would be installing it would arrive; he just showed up! We didn?t even have the closet emptied. Very frustrating. We paid a lot of money to have our kitchen remodeled and there was little communication from the scheduling of our remodel to the cabinet installation. When speaking with Matt, the scheduling person, about the schedule and the conflicts presented by the subcontractors hired by Kitchen Magic, he proceeded to blame me for those issues and stated the schedule we spoke about one week prior the start of the job never happened. I spoke with two other people at Kitchen Magic about these issues and they said that they would advise the owners but I still have not heard from them. We are very disappointed with the level of service we received and would not recommend their services to others. We feel that we were lied to and deceived by the salesman. I could have hired another company for less money and the same quality. I did not want to deal with the aggravation of subcontractors but that's exactly what happened.
Description of Work: We hired Kitchen Magic to remodel our kitchen which included new kitchen cabinets, new counter-top (with sink) and new back splash.

It has been a funny yet sad experience.I have never spoken to a service company who kept on asking me if I was sure of the appointment time because: 1. I had to be sure of BOTH my husband and myself have to be there2. As we were closing on the house same day, were we sure the closing will happen!! In this competing world of service providers, any company expressing as if they are doing some kind of favor by giving free estimate visit is absolutely suicidal and hilarious. So, I pick up the number from Angies' list as they are so highly ranked!, gave them a call and fixed a appointment for 5 PM when we were closing on the house 11 am in the morning. The lady who fixes the appointment is fine.I recieve a call 2 days prior to my appointment and voila - rain of questions Are you sure you want 5 PM?Are you sure both your husband and you will be there? Are you sure you will be able to close successfully cz you know there might be a problem!?If you have a problem in closing, call u immediately to cancel This is freaky - 1 . It seems someone is trying to show off a favor they are doing 2. I didn't like someone telling me that I might not be able to close on the house 3. Are you serious - If I have issues in closing, I will remember to call you first rather than trying to resolve the matters!!!4. In this world of woman power, all they want is the HUSBAND to be there. What happens to all the single women trying to build their houses out there!! Highly dissappointing customer service. They may be great at their work but all I did was cancel the appointmet right away as I don't want to deal with people like that. There are way too many people out there who work professionally for money. Stay Away and find someone professional.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NO CONTRACT OR WORK HAS TAKEN PLACE IN THIS INSTANCE. We are a company owned by four women who completely understand the challenges of juggling a household, family work, home and schedule. We regret the member¬ perceived bias in our requirement to have wife, husband, partner or other advising party present for our free consultation, however this is simply not the case. We offer our best advice, free and without obligation, whether we earn a customer’s business or not. And while is a free service to consumers, it is quite costly to our company and representatives. Our consultants often drive long distances to reach an appointment and once there, we assess each individual situation and needs. We then create the best solution we feel brings the most value; this can take considerable time. We put no time limit on the amount of time we spend with a consumer to be sure they receive the full benefit of our expertise. Of course for all of us, time is simply limited resource; we cannot make more of it. In order to best allocate our consultant’s time and travel, and continue to provide this free service, we have learned we must ask these two simple conditions are met: 1) We need to meet with all parties who may be involved with the decision or whose opinion might be helpful. For the above mentioned reasons, we need to present the company and products at one visit and answer all questions at that time. Every person learning about our products has different questions. 2) We must meet with the owner of the property being considered for improvement. Often unforeseen circumstances arise in the process of closing, so we do ensure that we visit with the actual homeowner. And of course, should the members need our services once they have finalized the closing on their home, we are thrilled to offer our free consultation. Thank you for taking the time to read this response. Respectfully, Kitchen Magic.

They were prompt and worked hard. The overall outcome of the job was a beautiful job. Clean up and removal of materials was a problem and when I called to complain the troubleshooter in the office he was very arrogant and rude. The pricing was also very confusing and not explained completely.

First, we Thank you for your business. We work hard for our customers to have a wonderful experience every step of the way. The fact that the final outcome is beautiful is important, but we would really want to look into why a call or question wasn’t handled well. It would be very helpful for us to know who it was that our customer was dissatisfied with so we can work with them on improving. (Please call 866-595-0498 and we will look into this!) Also, at any point, the best person to clarify any question on the pricing is the in home consultant who designed and the kitchen, and our representatives are always available to answer questions and certainly to clarify information. Respectfully, Kitchen Magic

The man that came for an estimate from Kitchen Magic Inc was great. He was thorough, he knew what he was doing, he was respectful, and any good quality you can contribute to a human, he has it. I didn't like at all that he tried very hard to convince me to make a decision right then and there for a lower price.

We've used Kitchen Magic before in another home. So we had good feelings about the work they do. This led us to call them for an estimate and to eventually do this kitchen. The sales person was helpful, timely, and professional. He helped narrow down the choices of colors and materials, offering good suggestions. Next, the draftsman came to do a very detailed drawing of the kitchen layout and dimensions. He made several good suggestions about addtional cabinets and types of hinges. Installers arrived as scheduled and went through the process of removing existing cabinet doors, counter tops, moulding and trim. They then took the time to install the new cabinets as well as apply the laminate "refacing" of the existing cabinets. They did a good job of managing the dust and dirt and cleaned up each night. New cabinet doors and drawers we installed including all handles and pulls. The carpenter, Igor did a nice job finding a solution for the very small spaces located on both sides of the kitchen window by gluing two small laminate strips in to make a clean finished appearance. This part of the process (demo to completion) took a total of 3 days.Counter top template was made during day 2 of the project and a week later, it was finished and ready for installation. The installer made sure all dimensions were correct and were very timely with the installation. They also made sure that the stove was moved into place and was level.Tile backsplash was scheduled for the following day and was done nicely. I would have liked to have any left over tiles - but that didn't happen. Not sure if there simply wasn't any left, or if they just didn't do it. All in all, a good quick job that looks great and is very functional at a reasonable price.

We are disappointed to learn of the customer's feelings regarding her project. To set her mind at ease, we looked into her account and discovered that the price was deeply discounted and very much in her favor. Additionally, we are here for her to address any tangible issues she may have, however, a perceived facial expression of one of our installers is not such a matter. If there is any problem with our product or services our service department, as always, is happily at Ms. Cody’s disposal and can be reached by calling 1-800-237-0799.

My husband built oak cabinets for our small 10x12 kitchen. He wanted laminate countertops which he could have installed himself but I said these cabinets are so beautiful we should have a stone countertop installed. We called Kitchen Magic first because of their rating on Angie's list. We scheduled an appointment when I was ready and the salesman showed up. He was punctual.. We discussed stone countertops and the corian backsplash that Kitchen Magic sells. We decided to go for quartz because of its durability and the fact that it is non porous and doesn't have to be sealed like granite. Cambria was shown to us which is only sold by exclusive dealers and it is made in the USA. Therefore it is no different but higher priced than Silestone. He was at our home for almost two hours;it was starting to wear me down. We discussed the countertop and backsplash. After the "discounts" the quoted price for the countertop and backsplash was $6500.00. It was too expensive so we agreed on just the countertop. The price was $4650.00 for an 8ft Lx25inW countertop and a separate 42inLx16W countertop a "free" stainless steel sink, the purchase and installation of a Moen Brantford faucet and hook up of my dishwasher. We agreed and the order was written up. My mistake was I didn't know how much we were being charged a foot. You couldn't read the customer copy. I called the salesman the next day and said this is kind of expensive for the amount of counterspace. He said, "You get what you pay for". I told my husband we are only getting a "deck" installed;not the 5in "lip" backsplash along the countertop. First of all, that looks unfinished and water could seep behind the cabinets and destroy the wall and cabinets. When I told the salesman my concern,he told me if I get rid of the plumber he will install the 8ftx5inW backsplash for an additional $350.00!!!! I put my husband on the phone he told him,"You can't read this paper; How much am I paying a foot?' He said $260.00 a linear foot. You mean to tell me for that price I am not getting a lip'backsplash. The agreement changed to an installation of the backsplash but no plumber;an equal wash. A few days later the engineer from Kitchen Magic showed. He was punctual and pleasant. After that the template was made by the manufacturer who has been in business for 50 years and only deals directly with the dealer. He was pleasant and professional. Soon thereafter, the installers came from the same company. They were also pleasant ant professional.I am pleased with the results but I feel the price is high for the amount of countertop. I also feel that I should have not had to sacrifice the plumber to get the small backsplash lip. My mistake was I should have shopped further before I made the commitment.

I contacted Kitchen Magic prior to joining Angies List, however during the initial meeting at my apartment the salesman did pull up a long list of positive reviews on Angies List with contacts to get references. A friend of mine works for his family cabinetry business so I had a price quote from him prior to KitchenMagic. Even though my friend gave me what he considered a very generous discount, KitchenMagic still came in nearly $1,000.00 less expensive. This company has cabinet refacing down to a science. I submitted an inquiry through their website and was contacted almost immediately. They set up an appointment for the salesperson to come take a look at the job. They were very flexible with the schedule. Since I work long hours the only time I had available was 7:30 PM and they were perfectly fine with that. The initial salesperson came to my place (on time), looked at my current cabinets, told him what they could do and for how much. Since I priced things out ahead of time I took the deal on the spot. I had to pay a certain amount upfront (i believe it was 1/3 of the price quote but it was nearly a year a go so I can not recall with 100% certainty) and I set up a time for another person to come take measurements. That person came on time, took the measurements and went through the scope of work, gave me options to select from, and then put me in touch with the main office to schedule installation, approximately 3 weeks from the date they took the measurements. As promised, the installer showed up every morning before I went to work (approx. 8 AM) and he left around 3 pm-4 pm everyday. He was very friendly and knew what he was doing. I am a single guy so I did not have the luxury of leaving someone in the apartment while the work was being performed, however he never gave me a reason to be concerned. The installer completed the work within the time frame that I was told (4 days) and he left the place immaculate. Since the work was completed in my place I have referred this company to my father as well as a colleague of mine. My father is nearly an impossible man to please and even he was very happy/impressed with their work and how professional they were. My colleague is only up to the point of getting measurements done so I can not give a testimonial from her just yet. Highly recommend this company, the process was easy and the end result was fantastic.

The company's representatives, from the original designer, to the installers, to the people who delivered the cabinets and countertops, could not have been more professional and caring. The designer provided recommendations and worked with me to get what I wanted at a price I could afford. The installer, a freelance carpenter named Rich, was one of the best contractors I've ever worked with. He was extremely polite, worked efficiently, and was the neatest worker ever to grace my doorway. His work was somewhat hampered by a few doors that were not the right size and needed to be remade, but that didn't delay the completion of the job and he never complained about having to make a return visit. The trash was removed exactly on-time, every delivery was precisely as scheduled, and the plumber hired by Kitchen Magic to hook up my appliances even solved a problem involving the placement of the faucet which was not of his doing. Long story short, I've very happy with the firm and their representatives, and even happier about the end result.

I chose not to do business with the company because of their policy. It is out of touch with modern life--many of us don't have spouses present in the home or who work full time. It is inappropriate to expect two people to be present for an initial meeting to give an estimate.
Description of Work: I contacted this company because of the high rating it was given on Angie's List and also its ad in the AL monthly brochure. When I tried to make an appointment for an estimate, they refused to do this unless my husband was present at the appointment. I informed them that I was the decision maker in this case as well as the person paying, but they still refused, even after I spoke with a supervisor. I found this behavior insulting of my intelligence (the representative kept reading from a prepared script) and lacking in customer service. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Dear Member, It is our goal to make our customers happy. We are a custom kitchen remodeler with over 30 years of experience. We always recommend that all homeowners be present at our free in-home consultation. This alleviates the probability that our Representative will have to come out twice for the same presentation. It's always best if all homeowners are present so we can answer all questions in one sitting. While the in-home consultation and estimate is free for homeowners, it is not free for Kitchen Magic. Additionally, a Representative may have to drive, in some cases, 2 hours to get to an appointment. Thank you in advance for your understanding. If you do decide to take advantage of our in-home consultation or have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Respectfully yours, The Kitchen Magic Family

I found them at a fair. They are well known in the area. They were very professional. They came out when they said they would. The quality of their work was excellent. I thought they did a really nice job for me. If anything is wrong, they will come out and fix it. I noticed that one of the seams had come out. They came out and fixed it. They were a little expensive, but they did a nice job. I would use them again in the future.

Response from Kitchen Magic Inc
Feedback is very important to us, and provides us with the opportunity to clarify important distinctions about our products and services. We are keenly aware that cost is a key consideration with any investment. However, Kitchen Magic never claims to be the cheapest. It is impossible to be both the least expensive and the best. We have found, however, there is a wonderful middle ground, where few other companies are able to live, where customers benefit from impeccable value, affordability and outstanding service. Living in that space takes a huge commitment to excellence on all fronts, and that is the space Kitchen Magic lives in. Our products and services are the finest American Made quality, backed by our Lifetime Warranty. And after more than three decades and fifty thousand kitchens, we are still here, keeping our promises to customers. Thank you for your feedback and for reading this response.

1 week later we noticed scars on the top of the laminate counter, that had been concealed by a well-matched acrylic grout?it was beginning to peel away from the marred areas thus exposing the cover up. These are quite clearly machine/power-tool marks. We politely reported the condition. KM responded to that email in a timely manner, stating they would discuss it with the installer. I requested a list of our options as to how to address this? The remaining 4 emails over a 3 week period have gone unanswered. Their recorded message when you are on hold on the phone with KM sings their praises regarding customer satisfaction and service. Do Not Believe It!
Description of Work: We first requested estimate after submitting detailed plans/product specifications and photos (by architect). Kitchen Magic (KM), took 2 weeks to reply to initial email, and approximately 2 more weeks to actually come through with a price, after repeated telephone calls. The price was very attractive, I was assured that despite my frustration dealing with them, everything would proceed much smoother from now on. A workman, courteous, professional and punctual arrived on agreed date to measure and inspect the existing conditions so that estimate could be finalized/contract agreed and fabrication of laminate countertops begun. 3 telephone calls over 3 weeks were made, unreturned by KM, to find out when they expected to begin fabricating the order and when installation would be undertaken. Finally they responded with the necessary information during a particularly angry call. Installation began on agreed date. KM arranged the plumber too. Installer was, we thought pretty professional, and seemed to really care about his work. A finished end panel was not supplied, even though it was specified by us and expected in the price provided. We however accepted the field-work provided by the installer for this end condition, without undue fuss.

They haven’t started the work so I don’t know about the workmanship. They are very professional. They are very pleasant. They knew what they were talking about. It was very good. I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used Kitchen Magic Inc to get an estimate about a week ago. It is for kitchen and bathroom remodeling. They quoted $22,000.

I moved to a new condo with an outdated kitchen. Thinking that the cost of remodeling the kitchen would be too expensive, I considered refacing as a more cost-effective alternative. Since Kitchen Magic has such excellent reviews on Angie's List, they were naturally the first company I called. The company sent their representative promptly. However for an 8X10 galley kitchen, the representative said the cost of refacing would be over $13,000 - and this was with discounts. Without discounts, the cost was much higher (over $17K). This cost would have included new laminate cabinet doors, and drawer fronts, a new granite counter-top, and a new under-mount stainless steel sink. Since a lot of friends and family said that was on the high side, I decided to get a cost comparison for a gut-remodel from another contractor, and guess what... for just $2000 more than the Kitchen Magic refacing price of $13K, I got a gut remodel of the entire kitchen, with brand new all-wood cabinets with crown molding, a new undermount stainless steel sink, a new granite countertop, a new backsplash (which Kitchen Magic said they wouldn't do), and a brand new tile floor (again which kitchen magic said they wouldn't do), and under-cabinet lights (again, Kitchen Magic said they don't do this). In addition, since this was a gut remodel, I got the cabinets placed exactly where I wanted them. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I am afraid, for a re-facing job, they were outrageously expensive, and I don't recommend them. I would also recommend that anyone who is thinking of re-facing their cabinets, should get a comparative price for a full remodel and see if the refacing option is cost-effective.
Description of Work: No service performed because I didn't hire them.

Not a very positive first impression.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate as I intend to remodel a bathroom - probably reface. I called this company multiple times to make an appointment to have someone come out and and evaluate my bathroom and provide the estimate. Each time I spoke to office staff who took my name and number and told me I would receive a call to set up the appointment. I never received a callback. I believe an A-rated company should act more professionaly and follow up. Perhaps their high rating on Angie's List has generated so much business that they do not need to do so. UPDATE - after learning of my frutration from Angie's List, I did receive a call back.

Excellent service. They showed up on time each day, was very considerate of my home, very professional and offered to throw in some extra touches that were not part of the estimate. Of course, they asked my opinion first. I wish they did plumbing, electric and everything else as I would hire them again and again. I definitely recommend them and would give them an A+ if it was an option.
