All that has been requested is to snake a kitchen drain. If they couldn't make it today, I should have been notified so that I could contact another plumber. I have been all day with dirty dishes, backed up water in my dishwater and still no word on when they will be here. Never again. If they do come at some point this evening and perform a fabulous job for a great price, I will adjust this review.
Description of Work: Nothing, thus the problem. I called at 9 this morning and was told they'd be here within a window between 11 and 2 p.m. It is now 7:08 p.m. and they still haven't arrived.

The work required digging into my concrete floor three places and one hole outside for the main tie-in. They replaced all the lines that were broken, cracked or leaking. Installed a liner in the main sanitary line and connected the floor drain to the system so that it would gravity drain (something that it didn't do before). The men worked for nine days to get all the work competed. They were very good about working around my schedule.
Description of Work: Replaced most of my sewer system below grade and the main stacks. Removed all debris, refilled the holes with fresh fill and refinished the broken concrete.

It went very well.. several days before my second floor toilet was stopped up. I thought I had fixed the clog. before going out of town I put some food down the garage disposal . I leave town come home 3 days later and went to basement to do laundry the tubs in basement were full of water with the food from the garbage disposal.. since I was home I knew to call Root Rooter because they will come out as soon as they are available. I didn't want to take a day off to get this fixed. David showed up from Root Rooter assessed the problem and fixed. I was very happy with the outcome and knowing if anything goes wrong they will come back and fix it. my tech was David -3039

It was not the technician's fault, but he didn't arrive until 3 hours after the appointment window. At least the main office called me several times to keep me updated and asked if I'd rather reschedule. The technician was efficient and professional, polite and patient with my dumb questions. We'll definitely call them again.

My basement sewer backed up in February had it taken care by another plumbing company. It was fine until this past Thursday when it back up a little bit. But by Sunday it backed up again. I called Roto Rooter North Hillls office they sent me 2 good guys Matt Tech #996 and his apprentice Dave. They came told me what was wrong they worked on the sewer that was backed which was my basement bathroom had it working in no time , made sure my upstairs toilet was flushing good and they also checked all my other sewer lines in my basement being that my house is and older home. Everything went great . I could not ask for a better crew. I would definitely use them again.

I called Roto-Rooter late on a Friday afternoon to check on a basement toilet that had a very slow flush. Fully expecting to get an appointment the following week, I was pleasantly surprised when I was told they would send someone over that evening. When the technician, Mathew, arrived with two apprentices, they took a look at the problem and asked a few questions about it (for example, age of the toilet and flush mechanisms). The initial thought was that they would need to run a snake cable through the toilet waste line. . While walking through the garage to get tools, one of the apprentices asked about some water that appeared near the floor drain. He was very observant because I hadn't even noticed it. There was an odor in the garage a few months ago, but I never made the connection to the problems with the slow draining of the toilet. . Mathew worked with the other apprentice to run the snake cable through the waste line and discovered that tree roots had permeated it. Based on the number or roots that were extracted, the line was severely blocked. They quickly resolved the problem, but they did not stop there. They advised that someone would be out on Monday around noon to check the inside of lines with a video camera. The pricing to clear the drain (including the follow up camera work) was very competitive and the work was completed professionally. . On Monday, as promised, the camera technician, Ryan, arrived around 11:30 AM. He first ran the camera through the line which had been cleared. He showed me where a section of the clay pipe had collapsed, allowing the roots to clog the line. He then offered to provide another quote for excavation to replace that portion of the pipe. I was glad to have this option so that I did not need to contact another contractor. Before writing up the quotation, he checked the other lines (from the upstairs bathroom, for example) to be sure there were no other problems lurking. Since that was not the case, I signed the contract and, once again to my surprise, I was told the excavation would be done that day. . Ryan had all the equipment necessary to identify exactly where the line ran underground. He marked the area so that when the excavator, Les, arrived, he knew where to dig. Before starting, they did all the necessary checks to avoid potential problems with gas, water, or power lines. The markings were so accurate that the hole was not much more than six inches on either side of the portion of the line to be replaced. During the excavation, an additional line (for wash water) was found so Ryan checked that with the camera too to be sure there were no problems. It was fine, but it was good thinking to resolve any potential problems while the ground was open. Les explained exactly how the replacement would be done and which specific parts were used to comply with local codes. When the work was done, the hole was covered in the manner we agreed, and all debris was removed. . I am complete satisfied with work of the Roto-Rooter team. They were professional, thorough, and efficient, and they quoted competitive prices. I would recommend their work to anyone.
Description of Work: - diagnosed the cause of a slow flushing toilet - cleared roots from waste line with snake cable - used video camera to determine where the roots were coming in - checked for potential problems with other lines - excavated and repaired a portion of the line - concluded all work as agreed (and much sooner than expected!) - punctual, clearly stated work to be done, professional, good pricing - one-stop shopping (i.e., didn't need to contact multiple contractors)

This review is specific to Murrysville Roto Rooter, 3731 William Penn Hwy, Murrysville PA 15668; 724-325- 1382; mike.merz@rrsc.com. This one did not come up on Angies list, and so I had to add it manually. Review Recently I noticed that the sewer line was leaking water at the point where the 4? PVC pipe exits the basement foundation wall. For example, on running the washing machine I saw water leaking out and running down the inside of the basement foundation walls. Over the past 6 months I had noticed that the foundation wall in that area was wet, in spite of all my attempts to fix the outside rainwater drainage system (proper grading of soil, installing indoor sump pump, outside French drain, new larger capacity gutters and downspouts). I got two free estimates. Both used cameras to inspect the blockage. One estimate was for about $3000 from an A-rated Angies list plumber (of two other A-rated plumbers contacted, one could not start until September and the other said this was too large a job for him). The first estimate proposed to put a "stent" inside the pipe (also called trench-less repair). This would not involve any digging. The other estimate was from Roto Rooter, that is B rated by Angies list (but they could have the wrong Roto Rooter, not the Murrysville one I dealt with). Ray Clarke did the camera inspection. He proposed to replace the sewer line from just inside the basement to the point where it connects with the outside sewer line that runs about 50 feet (under my front yard) to the main municipal manhole near the street. He told me that after repairing the shorter section he would ?camera? the 50 foot run, and that my costs could go up if there was further damage in that line (jumping ahead, I was lucky, that section of the pipe was fine). Roto Rooter?s estimate was much higher because it involved extensive digging instead of stenting. Somewhat like the difference between open heart surgery and a stent operation. Knowing something about the history of this house (it was built in 1989 and I have lived here since 2002) I selected Roto Rooter and I am so glad I did. After digging they found an 8" mismatch between the level of the pipe that penetrated the basement foundation wall and that of the 50 foot line that ran to the municipal manhole. The basement pipe was 8" BELOW that of the longer line: water does not like to go uphill. This problem, which was present from the very beginning of the construction of the house by DeCesare, would not have been solved with the stent solution suggested by the other plumber. The digging also revealed extensive blockage of the pipes, mostly from caked powdered soap (we use liquid soap) presumably used by the previous owner. The Roto-rooter plumber assigned to my job (Vincent) had studied the photographs of my property and noticed the tight space in which they would have to dig. Therefore he selected his experience excavator equipment operator (Damon). The work took two full days with a two man crew: Vince and Damon. The digging unearthed a car battery that had been dumped next to the foundation walls! Needless to say, leaking sulfuric acid next to the foundation is not a good idea. Vince came up with a clever solution to preserve my existing French drain system and protect it from otherwise inevitable setting of the soil in the dug-out area (the French drain would have ended up with a dip in it). I was very impressed with his knowledge of the plumbing business and his attention to detail. Vince and Damon tried their best to protect my existing plants, but there was some damage to the lawn as is expected from this kind of work (this was clearly specified in the contract). There was no damage to low hanging gutters and other house parts. He also fixed an improperly installed downspout. The original sewer construction had a single U-trap vent on the outside. This does not meet current plumbing code so I could not have sold the house without correcting it. Roto rooter replaced it with a new U-trap and two additional cleanout spouts to make it easier to clean out any future blockages ? now it exceeds all applicable codes. They had the installation checked by the municipal authority (FTMSA). Finally they back filled the dug-out area with crushed stone (to minimize settling ? the original builder did not bother to do this) and the rest with soil to higher than ground level (to account for settling). So why the B-ratings. I believe it is just a price issue. For simple plumbing problems the A rated providers are probably fine. My house, built in 1989, has a history of problems related to poor construction. Two other houses in my area have similar sewer related issues. Given the number of shortcuts the builder took, I would not trust plumbing issues to anyone other than Roto Rooter. I believe their work has added to the value of my property. Their prices are higher because (i) the work was more comprehensive, (ii) their people are more experienced and (iii) they have the manpower resources to get the job done soon. I had considerable difficulty getting the other plumber to return phone calls and commit to a start date, as he was too busy. Roto rooter started the job one day after I agreed to their price. Incidentally, this is my fourth experience (over 15 years) with this company, and they have all been positive. Expensive, yes, but they solved the problem every time. Now my basement is dry and I say let it rain, let it rain! I can finally proceed with finishing the basement.

Mat and Tony were careful not to make tracks through the house and worked diligently to make sure the parts--which we had purchased in advance--had the proper "fit". They are definitely an "A-Team". When the work was done they cleaned up the basement (leaving it in as good or better shape than they found it) and took away the old laundry tub for us. Overall a great experience--we'll use this company again.
Description of Work: The company replaced an old 3-legged laundry tub/sink with a new one; they replaced the p-trap and installed a new faucet as well as a new basket strainer.

It took quite awhile for the first tech to realize that the snake was going into a cross drain pipe instead of into the septic tank, but they didn't charge me for any extra cost for that time. When he was finished with the job, he did leave my clean out plug loose which caused toilet water to leak onto the basement floor, and he uncovered a unused drain hole and didn't reseal it so the smell was even worse than before he came. When I commented on the smell before he left, he said it would go away after an hour or so. The smell did not go away, and the water was leaking out of the drain plug, so I called them back and they sent another plumber out the next day (Ed Schwartz). He not only fixed the problems, but he instructed me on some measures I could take with the floor drains to help keep any smell out of my house. If I need them again, I would specifically request Ed.
Description of Work: Was called to unclog drains and stop the terrible sewer smell in my home. Tried to use a snake but it was hitting sludge and couldn't unclog the drain so he had to use the power water flush.

I called another Angie's List member, a solo practitioner who was very busy, on May 19th. He called back on May 20th and although he was very busy, he scheduled me for May 28th after 6 PM. He never showed up and he never called. Today, May 31st, I kept running into tasks for which I needed outside water, and I'd already waited two weeks. Enough was enough. I called Roto-Rooter, and the phone was answered immediately. I made my call at 2:40 PM and I was told that a plumber would be here between 3 PM and 6 PM today, and that someone would call me when he was 30 minutes to arrival. I received the "30-40 minutes out" call as promised. The truck pulled into my driveway during that time frame. The plumber, Chris, was great. He was very personable, patient, and didn't mind my watching the repair. The quarter turn all-in-one valve wouldn't close all the way. The only way I could turn the water off was to shut it off inside the house. Chris removed the current valve, which was soldered directly onto the copper pipe. I asked if he could solder on a threaded extension, and then just screw a new valve onto the extension. This way, when the valve needs to be replaced in the future, I can just replace it myself. He did exactly as I asked, and then supported and secured the pipe coming through the wall (it had previously been held in place by a steel collar screwed into the mortar-- only once screw was actually functional). Chris left my house between 5:30 and 5:45. Total time from my initial call to completion of the job was three hours. On a SATURDAY! I think that is amazing and I am VERY happy.

Tried to turn on my hose to get water and the pipe burst in my garage on an outside wall. After i shut the water off called my usuall guy who is very reasonable but he wasn't feeling well. Then called roto In 3 1/2 hrs. the truck showed up and gave me a very high estimate which I declined since it was below freezing and didn't need the water for atleast a month. The plumber negotiated and we agreed on a price which I thought was fair.

Was responsive my inquiries to all the plumbing issues we've been having and how they connected to the current issue. I've used Pittsburgh roto rooter a couple times and techs I've met are as good if not better than all the other companies I've tried. I still don't trust corporations in general (I work for one so know the issues they cause), so I consider the jury still out. Plumbers always charge you top dollar (corp or not) it seems to be an is what it is type of thing. I like the techs I've seen from this company though.

Chris the technician was very friendly and explain the options to me. I thought the faucet just needed new washers and everything would be fine, wrong. The old faucet stems are chipped and will need replaced or changed. I was informed that it may be tricky to find a replacement stem and it might be better to just replace whole unit. I wasn't ready to spend $645.00 to replace the faucet and choose to have Chris just replace the washers. He did stop the leak but informed me that the washers would wear quickly unless you replace the stems. Chris was working on this for almost 2 hours and had a friendly attitude. This is the second time I have Roto-Rooter the only issue I have with them is the arrival time is usually hours after what you schedule but they do come the same day you call.

The plumber was great! Very quick. The cost was a bit steep for the amount of time it took but I was just so happy it was a quick fix. The only problem with this place is their scheduling team is not accurate with their quote of times and they don't update you when they aren't going to be able to make it on time.
Description of Work: We had a leaking pipe. The plumber added a connector to fix the area with leak

All three of our toilets have been flushing slower, clogging all the time, even just flushing down some toilet paper. Service tech Chris Provenzo came out on day scheduled, though he was about 4 hours behind schedule. The dispatcher called several times during the day to update his arrival time. Chris examined the toilets, and gave me an honest assessment, that auguring probably wouldn't help much. He provided a ballpark figure (about $1300) to replace all three toilets, so I decided to go with auguring for now. He was done in about half an hour. Professional and courteous. Satisfied overall.
Description of Work: Augered three toilets to remove mineral deposits, possible clogging
