He was doing this between jobs as it wouldn't take long. He was also the one who did a good job on rebuilding our front steps. He didn't put any hinges on the access panel. He just screwed it in and it took him all of 10 minutes. I could have done that myself but I wanted some hinges which would have required additional prep work which I didn't have time for at the moment. He gets an 'F' for that. The one closet was nothing more than expanding the old one by a couple of feet and hanging new drywall. That went pretty good. The other closet was being built as we added a master bath and some of that space replaced the old closet so we had to move the closet over. He did a lousy job here. He never spent the few minutes to cut out the carpet and remove the molding. He just framed on top of the carpet and sheet rocked over the molding. He got one layer of spackling on before leaving for the day. We contacted him about this and he became very upset that we would challenge his work. He refused to redo the work he had already done. He decided to cut his losses and quit the job. He never asked for any money on this project because he knew we would be good for it since the front steps work cost over $7,000. One thing we noticed about him. If he knows there is an inspection is required he will do his best work and will work with you regarding any changes you like but if no inspection is required it seems he doesn't bother asking you a thing. Even if he considered coming back to finish the job we would never want him (and partner). They never arrive earlier than 10:30 am if you are lucky. They don't follow through with what they say they are going to do. They will take short cuts whenever possible. Don't hire this guy unless you don't mind having a 1 week job take two weeks. Also we caught one of them urinating under our deck one day during a job. They take a lot of liberties. Don't let them talk you out of getting an inspector because if there is no inspector then they tend to take short cuts. If we had an inspector for the closets, I am sure he would have had them rebuild the closet correctly.
Description of Work: We wanted to add some closet space in 2 areas plus asked him to install a hinged utility access panel to an open section inside of the garage. This access panel was to serve 2 purposes. This was to keep rodents out of the house and still allow us access to the area.

They do really good work and pay a lot of attention to detail. However, they are generally late and they are not good with money. I'm afraid they have maxed out their credit card because they are always asking for money for materials. This is not in the contract we agreed to.
Description of Work: They're a construction company that is doing work on our basement.
