They were so kind when we had no AC and continuously came out to replace the freeon when it would leak out of the AC. They made sure we were comfortable. They ordered and installed the new coil as soon as it arrived. I have been using Oliver for over 20 years. They put in my original AC and my Heater. I use their contract for both and have never been let down by this company. They are true to their word and are tops in my book. They do not lie and are very faithful to their customers. Description of Work: The coil in my AC went and it was not yet a year old. I phoned Oliver Company where I have my contract and purchased the AC last year. They were wonderful and I could not ask for better service. They ordered a new coil and no cost for me and kept me with freeon until my coil arrived a week later. They came and promptly installed the coil when it arrived.

Found water dripping out of main panel. Further inspection showed water damage to box due to cracked wire casing outside the house. Called Oliver around 1pm and they immediately sent a representative out to the house. Crew arrived around 4:30pm and began work. New service to the house and breaker panel was installed by 10pm. Work areas were clean when they finished.

Estimator arrived on time, and took extra effort to fully understand the scope and complexities of the jobs. He was honest with us that they would not be able to install a fan in the powder room due to the configuration of our ceiling and outside wall, which would have prevented them from properly running the vent line. I appreciated that he didn't try to proceed, but was honest about not attempting the work. The work team arrived within their window on the day they were scheduled, and even called in advance to say that they might be slightly delayed due to traffic. They checked in throughout the day, including verifying the exact position of the new fans before cutting into the ceiling. Their colleague who came a day or two after the work was completed did flawless repair and plastering work. We had an very good experience with Oliver and would consider them again for future work.
Description of Work: Replaced one bathroom fan/light, and repaired a problem with the fan vent. Installed two new bath fan/light units in bathrooms that did not have them previously installed. Installed timer switches for all three fans. Repaired and plastered areas around new fans, and holes that had to be cut to install new vent ducting.

Day 1: The wrong pump was ordered. A couple of weeks later Oliver called to reschedule the installation. We agreed on a Monday. On Wednesday they showed up unexpectedly. We allowed them to attempt the installation regardless of the scheduling foul up. Again the pump was wrong and they blamed the size of our well. The plumber left in such a hurry, he left material behind. Several calls were made requesting a chat about what could be worked out. None of those calls were returned. I assume our experience is not typical, but I would not hire them again.
Description of Work: Oliver was hired to install a emergency backup sump pump at my residence. The Project Manager Bob provided a written estimate and we agreed to hire Oliver to install the pump. We both agreed that this should be a very simple job.

After talking to six HVAC professionals and receiving quotes, Dan Lippin from Oliver was the only person able to help me make a decision on whether or not to keep using heating oil. I am so glad that I got Dan to give me a quote because I probably would have gotten a lower efficiency system from someone else and deeply regretted it. Oliver's price beat two others for the same system, and their reputation speaks for itself. You can't go wrong with Oliver!

So, I did that, scheduled the work for today. I was not sure what time they were showing up. So I called the day before to confirm and also to find out the time, they never picked up the phone after 4pm!!! This is Unusual for them.I left a message confirming what I thought to be the time of the job start and saying that I was confirming the appt. and eager to get the work done. The next day no one shows up. So I call to find out where the guy is. Only to find out the dumb receptionist canceled my second appt. because she could not reach me on the phone that morning! After I already confirmed it!!!! When I questioned her about why she would do such a thing she claimed "so they would be paid"! Keep in mind I have a contract with them for over 10 years now and have just spent over 10,000 of plumbing work with them in the past few months. I have been a good and loyal customer for many years and thought I would try out their electrical services. They May Have BEEN GOOD in the PAST, but now they are getting TOO BIG and making too many mistakes that the customer has to bare. If you like to press 1 for this and 7 for that, like you are dealing with Comcast/Verizon etc. and want the same quality of work then they may now, be for you! This is NOT the same OLIVER Company that it was 2 years ago. I am not happy. Looks like I need to find someone else.
Description of Work: Nothing. I called the NEW Electrical department since I had a blown out fuse and outlet. I got charged a service call fee and the person was not able to do ANYTHING. Claiming it was a large job and he would have to come back. To schedule the job the following week, so that he could bring a second guy along to figure out the problem. I will also share with you that I have been using this company for over 10 years in their plumbing department and have a contract with them for service. They have been fair and ok with their work up until now when I think they are biting off more than they can chew trying to be all things to all people. They are buying up different companies electrical, and contractor companies. It appears that they are becoming one giant with poor workers and a lot of hassle.

He spent more time sitting in the truck than doing the work. He used a vacuum to clean out the flue which sprayed dust and dirt around the room. He initially charged me over $400 and when I mentioned I was with Angie's List, he knocked the price down over $100. The bill shows that I only received a $35 discount for being a member.
Description of Work: They removed paper, glove, and bird from the flue from the water heater to the chimney. He cleaned it out also.

My husband called Oliver Heating and Cooling to show us how to turn on the heat in our new home, since it is our first time dealing with radiators. Customer service mentioned to him that cost to diagnose problem would be about $80. The service person came the following day and spent an hour and a half trying to figure out what was wrong with the system and eventually told him that we needed to have a part replaced. My husband signed an invoice from service person for the $80. Low and behold a few days later, we see another charge on our debit card for $147. When my husband called to find out what was going on, he was greeted with a "you agreed to this service program and we have a recording of the phone call". The $147 was for a maintenance contract for a year. It was not made clear during his initial call, that he would have to enter into a one year contract just to have someone come out to figure out what was wrong with our heating system. There was no effort on the customer service representative's part to help rectify the situation. We also note that the service person that came out did not even sign on the service record attached to the furnace that he serviced the system. We are pretty sure he didn't actually service/clean the system. Please also note that the previous homeowner had Oliver service the system in January 2015 and a part stopped working within a year of their inspection. We are very unhappy with Oliver's service and plan on taking our business elsewhere. Oliver should do a better job of explaining to customers about the 1 year service contract that you automatically get sucked into if you want them to fix a problem. Update: Oliver called the day after this review was written. We have been re-funded the money taken out of our account for the service plan.

This service was excellent ... a great experience. I called several providers and was very frustrated that some were on vacation, had to hold for 25 minutes for another, then I reached Jennifer at Oliver. I called her around 1:00 p.m. There were at my house and finished by 4:00p.m. I so appreciated that in this emergency situation. She took all of the information on my water heater, did not try to over sell me, and gave me coupons from Angie's List. She told me when the technician would be there. They showed up on time and were very professional. I actually took a photo because they left the area so clean and the work was absolutely excellent.

Everything went very well, just not pleased with the price.
Description of Work: The tub had a bad drip. Tech said he needed to replace the stems on the tub. It took him about 30 minutes. I don't think the parts could be more than $100 and they charged $600. But they came quickly and fixed the problem. I just think the price was a rip-off.

The simplest answer is that the cost of any given part is only a fraction of the costs involved with providing service to our customers. Oliver uses a flat rate system that also takes into account the vehicle, gasoline, maintenance, tools, and materials necessary for our plumbers to provide service at your home. In addition to these aspects of the call that you see, we also must account for the professional contributions of our customer service representatives, dispatchers, parts coordinators, and accountants that handle each call as well as the overhead costs of the office building. All parts that we install come with a 2-year part and labor warranty, and we offer 24/7 emergency service with no overtime rates. We do operate on a profit, which is a necessary part of staying in business, but the profits that we earn are a very small portion of the flat rate price. UPDATE: since posting this review Oliver has contacted me three times: 1- to apologize and see if there was anything they could do for us (I agreed to review an actual estimate if they were still wanted to provide one). 2-they called to let me know when the estimate would arrive via email and 3- the estimate arrived from Rocco with a note of apology for the delay. The estimate was for nearly $18,000. This is almost $7000 more than the other quotes from Angie's List contractors. For me this whole thing has been a signal that they really never wanted the work. Might have saved lots of time if they had said that upfront. Other reviews seem good, so I am not sure what went wrong. ORIGINAL REVIEW: An excellent "Consultant" came out and discussed all of our options for replacing our OIL fired boiler system with a new high efficiency natural gas system. He was very knowledgable and helpful and NEVER GAVE US AN ESTIMATE DESPITE MY REPEATED CALLS AND EMAILS. This seems like a good company and their oil guy did good work for us on a repair......but..... It just seems crazy that they wouldn't want the work. I called 3 times and emailed twice since their March visit and though Rocco Pace did send an email (reprinted below) he never did. Not sure why. We are moving on as I just can't trust it now. I give them a zero for professionalism and responsiveness. I simply have to move on to get the work done. They were a little high priced, but everything went very well.
Description of Work: They moved the washer and dryer, fixed a kitchen drain, repaired some minor leaks, rewired for the new dryer and put in 2 bathroom vents.

Service man who came out for the tune up was brutally honest and seemed competent. He did not charge for today's tune up but admitted it could not be completed because the heat pump could not be assessed until Oliver corrects the problem. He indicated he ordered the sensor and EIN board needed to allow the heat pump to be part of the system. We will wait to see if someone from Oliver calls to schedule the repair.
Description of Work: paid for a Tune Up service because one year ago had a furnace, water heater and dehumidifier installed for approximately $6000. During tune up, service man found that the heat pump (which we had purchased from Oliver 5 years earlier) had not been hooked up to the furnace and connected to the thermostat. It was supposed to be our main source of heating when the temperatures were mild but it actually was doing nothing. In fact, we were using the furnace all winter without benefit of the heat pump. I conclude that Oliver has very poor quality control. We assumed they checked the installation after it was completed but evidently did not. I have no way of knowing if the work was done right and had to call Oliver to schedule a tune up to find out they did a poor installation.

Our service manager has attempted to contact you regarding this situation and to offer a potential resolution. Although he will be able to speak in much greater detail and answer further questions, I appreciate the opportunity to also address your concerns. In reviewing the installation and service records at your property, we did discover that the installers made a note that the heat pump was wired as a straight A/C unit due to an issue with the control. Your sales representative should have notified you of this issue at the time of installation, and I apologize for this breakdown in communication. The service calls to your property in the meantime were for unrelated issues, and did not require a test out of the heat pump unit to resolve. Again, I apologize that a miscommunication among our staff caused such understandable frustration, our goal is always 100% customer satisfaction and I apologize that we missed the mark here. As I stated, our service manager will be following up with you with additional details and a suggested resolution, and as always we are available to answer any additional questions or concerns you may have. I thought the heater was going out. They let me know that they didn’t think that the heater had gone out yet but they did schedule me an appointment. My heater had not gone out but they are very helpful and polite and courteous. I’ve also used them in the past for my AC and I would use them again in the future.
