Oliver Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, & Electrical

I have three separate heating systems in my house: an older gas HVAC for the main part of the house, a heat pump for a second floor addition and a small gas-fired hot water furnace for a greenhouse. We moved into the house 1 year prior and were overwhelmed with the number of systems. The previous owner was very meticulous with maintaining the main furnace but there were no service records for the other two systems. I wanted to have all serviced at the same time, however there seem to be two different types of heating tradesmen: plumbing and heating guys and HVAC guys. Oliver is unique in that they service all three types of furnaced. The service technician spent a lot of time going over and cleaning all the systems as well as answering my questions. A previous company came into my house over the summer to clean my air conditioner. He told me that my heater had a crack and needed to be replaced immediately. Two service technicians later, I found that that person was probably trying to hype me into replacing the system. The Oliver technician, while stating that the system was old, did say that it was still functioning fine and fairly efficiently. I appreciated his honesty.

They come out in between if required and it is included in the annual charges. They are very courteous, very organized and punctual. They are very professional.

They come out once a year and do maintenance. We have been using them for about 10 years and have been very satisfied.

I selected 4 highly rated companies from Angie's List to provide estimates for work I needed on my heating system. Basically the heater I have now is not old, but is too large for the house. In addition, the central return on the duct work was not connected to anything at all, the vents have never been cleaned (in the 6+ years I have owned the home) nor has the heater itself been serviced. Oliver was the one company who understood my needs from the beginning, did not try to upsell above what I asked for, provided an estimate in the format I requested, and worked with me to get the most out of the existing HVAC system, providing ideas to make it last longer, and giving me honest feedback. The Oliver workers were on time, completely professional, and cleaned up after themselves. They even saw that my dryer vent was not connected and they put a brand new one in without charging me for parts or labor (we had not discussed this as part of the work). This experience really emphasized for me that I should trust my instincts, and I am happy that I chose Oliver. I would totally use them in the future.

The sales rep let me know in advance to have a path clear in my garage so that they could bring in the furnace, good so that I did not have to scramble. Overall, the installation went well, and I am happy with the result. It looks good, is quiet, and I go through much less oil, though my electric bill is higher also. I had a small issue with the installation guys. One of them was putting the outside evaporation coil in place, and it looked off level to me. Heat pump units are large, and I wanted it to look good in my back yard. When I asked the man to level it, he literally wouldn't answer me, and kept working. I started to get louder and his co-worker came out, said they could level it. He later made his co-worker come back and apologize to me :). Which is cool, I mean, it probably didn't matter to the function of the pump, but I was paying $9,000 and I knew I would have to look at it for years, so, I thought it was within my right to have it look good. And it does. In summary- Very good job, I'm happy with it, much cheaper than similar equipment from Horizon, and I would recommend Oliver as a company.

I?m on their service plan now so they come within 24 hours of my call and they?ll service my system. They came the day after I called them and they fixed the problem. He worked on it for quite some time but he wasn?t able to get it quite as robust as it could be.

After an absolutely horrific experience with another HVAC company regarding the installation of my High velocity central air system, I contacted Oliver for a service contract for my two A/C units. I have a Gold level service contract with them, which means that they would come out asap if I ever needed anything. They have always done a good job - prompt arrival for appointments, good service, decent price. I only had one small issue with them one year - one of my units stopped blowing cold air immediately after service. I called them and they told me that it would flush itself out shortly, and it did. Overall, no complaints - continue to use them for my annual A/C maintenance and service.

I met with Joe for an estimate to replace my HVAC system and install some new ducts. Highly professional, he carefully assessed the situation and answered all my questions. Oliver is well known for its quality service. The company was high on my list of preferred vendors, but their price was just too high. They earned my respect, tho, for taking the time to do a thorough, professional assessment. Thanks, Joe!

Service man was more than prompt, courteous, and very helpful, even when delivering the news that we need a whole new system.

They were very helpful. I am still using their services, so things went very well.

The sink was still draining slowly after the new one was installed. He is a subcontracted individual. He was prompt. I would not use him again, in part because I'm moving to a new location.

Start to finish went better than expected.

I wanted an estimate. Made a lot of drawings and spent a good amount of my personal time to overview my job. Upon hearing that I was going to seek a bid from another firm, the sales rep seemed less interested and told me it would take him 2 weeks just to be able to get me a response. I agreed to that and waited patiently. After 2-3 weeks i started calling and never received a call back. I finally got a secretary to hear me out and I was told the sales rep (who wouldn't even get on the phone to tell me directly, ) didn't have the time or interest to handle an estimate. I believe this was due to the fact that I made it clear i would seek a competitive bid. The sales rep seemed more worried about that, than actually putting in an honest effort to just tell me if his company could handle the work. I made it crystal clear I was looking to compare apples to apples, and that i was not trying to pit multiple companies against each other to get low ball prices. I understand companies are entitled to a fair profit for a fair days work. It would have been the proper and professional thing to tell me right away he wasn't interested. Instead I wasted my time waiting around for nothing.

A quite bad experience a while back & haven't used since: Tech arrived several hours late. I explained that I now needed to pick up my children so needed to leave the house. Tech said fine. The tech had parked his repair van broadside, directly behind & only about 3 feet from my garage door. By now it had gotten dark. I pressed the garage door opener & backed out -- didn't even see his van and backed into his side door panel. It was a ridiculous place to have parked. But, at least he should have mentioned it when I told him I had to leave since there was no way anyone could back out of the garage without him moving the van. I had to pay for the body damage to their van! (That amount is not reflected in the spend amount entered above)

They are good. We will probably use them again in the future.

Quite well - everyone knew what they were doing and it went very smoothly. One small aesthetic glitch was remedied on the outside of my home. The new system cut my heating bill IN HALF! Fabulous. ANd we are more comfortable in all of our rooms.

They came on time and were clean. They did exactly what they were supposed to do. Everything was great.

I don't remember the cost. We had no problems with them. They were terrific. We had several bids and they were comparable. I would recommend them.

They are always on time and always very courteous and helpful. I have a maintenance contract with them. They check my furnace and ducts to see whether everything is working well. I am happy with them as my furnace is working fine. My experience with them has always been very good.

I like working with them and I feel like they do good work. They always remind me that it is time to have my system serviced because I usually forget. They do a nice job and we've been happy with them.

Worked with Scott Picha in sales and Tom Koons on installation. Prompt in providing estimate and had the units installed within a few days after the agreement was signed. Obtained 5 other estimates and this was the best value for what was provided. An important deciding factor was Oliver's 10 year labor in addition to the usual parts and labor warranty. More typically, companies provide 1 or 2 years labor unless you buy an extended warranty for over $1,000. Installation went flawlessly in less than one day.

They had come to my house in 2006 for my HVAC, and the salesperson was very nice. I called them this year because I needed duct work installed. I explained that I only wanted duct work for the heat, and was not interested in getting the outdated central air system to work and did not want to install duct work for the air conditioner. The salesperson kept pushing me to install duct work for the air conditioning, and we continued to go back and forth. He finally gave me a verbal estimate of $6,000 to $10,000 to do the ductwork, which I thought seemed a little high. He said he would get back to me, but he did not. I called, and did not hear back. Another week went by and I still didn't hear from him. I asked him to give me a call, and never heard. I do not know what happened, but I this was a strange situation, and I was disappointed that they never got back with me. They have a good reputation, but I thought this encounter was an odd experience because of the pushy sales and the lack of response.

My husband was home during the install and he said they even wrote booties on their feet to keep from tracking dirt in the house. They arrived when they said they would and the job took a day like like they said. So far the cooling system has worked very well. It has been a mild summer so we haven't had to use it a lot but it seems to cool the same or better as the old system.
