Oliver installed my original heating and air conditioning system in 1992. Now it was time to replace it and Mr. Ed Kelly from Oliver came and measured the existing unit in the basement. He quoted me a price of $ 9130.00 for an "Oliver" brand system with 80% AFUE. Upon my inquiring he said the '"Oliver" brand is made by Lennox. I got three more estimated and decided on a Lennox system by another company. The specifications for the new Lennox system were similar to the ones quoted by Mr Kelly but it cost me only $5000.00. This is a price difference of $ 4130.00!!!

I have been an Oliver gold plan customer since moving to Chester County in 2007. I have never been disappointed by them. I decided I wanted to replace our HVAC system before it died, and also wanted improved air quality, so I contacted Oliver. The sales representative was unbelievable in terms of responsiveness and honesty, and was clearly very knowledgable. He even encouraged me to talk to other contractors if I needed to get comfortable with pricing. The prices were higher than I hoped, but I learned from dealing with other contractors (even small companies) that this was simply the cost of a high quality system. Oliver also helped with available rebates and a fantastice financing program where the local government pays 6 months of payments. In the end, it was an easy decision to stay with Oliver. And there is a lot of comfort with their 5 year peace of mind plan. The installation went smoothly and now we have great new system that is working great.

Oliver Heating Cooling Plumbing & Electrical, they do everything actually. In November my heater broke, I believe that was around November. I spent $500. They are very professional. The cost is right. The do all kinds of service besides heating and air conditioning. They are on time, great company. I don't have any concerns. They answered everything for me. I have a service plan with them and that's been working out great. They service the heater for you every year.

18 February, 2013 I woke up to find my house at 55? F and the outside temperature hovering around freezing. The heat would not come on and I called Oliver. Their technician, Mr. Samuel, arrived at 2pm when I was already chilled to the bones. He found a faulty ignitor and offered to replace it for $ 278.50 plus the service call $ 89.- which totals $367.50. Although this sounded awfully high I agreed because I did not want to freeze any longer. I paid by credit card and had to sign a blank screen on Mr. Samuels tablet. He would not give me a receipt but promised one by email. The email?s sender was Dottie Haggerty and the title was (no subject). Normally, I delete emails like this but Mr. Samuel assured me Dottie Hagerty works for Oliver and it was indeed the bill! Immediately after Mr. Samuel left, I searched the internet for the ignitor and found it at www.repairclinic.com for $27.-. Mr. Samuel charged me more than 10 TIMES THE RETAIL PRICE!!!

Our flat rates also take into account the vehicle, gasoline, maintenance, tools, and materials necessary for our technicians to provide service at your home. In addition to these aspects of the call that you see, we also must account for the professional contributions of our customer service representatives, dispatchers, parts coordinators, and accountants that handle each call as well as the overhead costs of the office building. All parts that we install come with a 2-year part and labor warranty, and we offer 24/7 emergency service with no overtime rates. We do operate on a profit, which is a necessary part of staying in business, but the profits that we earn are a very small portion of the flat rate price. I had gotten quotes from two companies to purchase a generator and I choose Oliver Heating Cooling Plumbing & Electrical. He went over the whole house to see how much electric I would actually need. He wrote down everything. Then we sat at the kitchen table and he gave me a price. They came and did everything. It was very professional. They did a good job. They came with people who knew what they were doing - the electrical contractors, heating and plumbing. They were top notch. Their price was very fair. He could have tried to sell me a larger generator, but he didn't. All I needed was a smaller one and he was honest about it. I see their trucks out all the time.

Description of Work: The shower stall in our newly bought home was slightly leaking behind the wall. As first-time home owners, we were very nervous to call a plumber as we didn't know how much the repair would cost. We contacted Oliver Plumbing based on their reviews on Angie's List. We received a very warm reception when we called to schedule a visit. Andrew Hostler from Oliver was able to come to our home within a day to look at our shower stall. He noticed that the shower head arm was slightly leaking behind the wall and was able to make the repair without opening the drywall. He even replaced our shower head. Andrew was very pleasant, professional and explained in clear detail the problem we were having. The leak has stopped and we are extremely satisfied with the service we received from Oliver Plumbing. Description of Work: We have used this company for years...before Angie's list... and we have been happy with their service. In early October...just as cold weather was beginning....our heater was red tagged and since the repair would be expensive, we decided to replace it and the cooling system. Oliver did it at a reasonable price within a reasonable length of time. The new heater has been very efficient and has also lowered our heating bills. We will continue to have them service the new units.

We purchased a new HVAC system from Oliver about 5 years ago. At the time, the salesperson specified a system that would perform with our existing chimney and had no issues. This system worked fine for 3 years without any issues at all. About 2 years ago, the maintenance tech told us that our chimney was not working properly so that we should have it repaired because it was not drafting properly. 2 years ago, a new chimney liner was installed upon the advice of the HVAC technician. A year ago, the system was still having issues with drafting properly- again, it was stated that the chimney was at fault. Last year, again, upon Oliver's technician's advice, we had the chimney repointed and checked for proper operation. Nothing was found. The technician on this second visit was very rude and simply told us that we had a problem with the chimney drafting. No further solution was proposed, other than suggesting a fresh air intake from the outside and conversion of the furnace to side exhaust. However, Oliver does not perform services like the fresh air intake and they suggested to search the internet. With some slight paraphrasing, all they said was "it's broken, fix it," without much other help. We hired a different HVAC company to come look at the system- they found multiple faults. The chimney liner was not installed properly, leaving a gap from the exhaust pipe of the furnace to the actual liner- that was the cause of the drafting issue. Although this was not Oliver's fault, they made no effort to investigate this problem at all. Second, the furnace exhaust was not installed in a typical manner and the second HVAC tech was wondering why there was a pipe diameter expansion coming out of the furnace- this is not mentioned in the Carrier installation manual at all. The larger diameter pipe would cause loss of flow velocity in the pipe, which would further hurt drafting of the chimney. The result is what matters- the second HVAC company found the issues, recommended a plan to fix the issues, we implemented the fixes and got the carbon monoxide level back down to a normal, safe level. Oliver did absolutely nothing to try and resolve the problems- either they are purely incompetent, lazy or just unprofessional. I put in several calls to their service manager about this issue and they would do absolutely nothing to fix the issue or try and address the issue. As a result of my experience, I terminated our service contract with Oliver and would not recommend them to anyone. I've also filed a complaint with Carrier due to Oliver's lack of competence in diagnosing and installing the system. I want to update my review to respond to the comments by Oliver. Although you mention that the piping kit was required, why then does another, President's Award winning Carrier dealer tell me that the exhaust piping was unusual. Not only is it unusual, if you understand thermodynamics and fluids, expanding the exhaust piping slows the velocity of gas down, which would actually contribute to poor venting. Secondly, because you did not deign to actually examine the chimney liner and how it was attached, you could not find the actual problem- I had to hire someone else to find it because you refused to do so. After two years, I can report that my furnace is working properly, there are no drafting/exhaust issues, there is no carbon monoxide buildup in the basement. There never was any modification done to the house that you allude to in your response. The intake is the same as it was when you initially installed the system in 2007- no fault codes are generated now, and the system works fine. The way you left things with our house, there were fault codes for improper drafting, and you thought that the chimney was not large enough to accomodate both the furnace and the water heater. You also said that the heating system was not specified properly for our house, even though that would be the fault of your salesperson and the techs installing the system- that's not something I could determine on my own. If that were true, that is totally your company's fault and belies your incompetence if you were actually admitting this as fact. Even I don't believe that to be the case. You also said that there is not enough fresh air to feed the furnace, as it stood. However, this is not a problem two years after the fact, so I guess you were wrong- you just can't admit that you did anything wrong and you never stood behind your own work or made any effort at customer satisfaction to make things right, even at my own expense. You can apologize all you want after the fact, but the reality is that the technicians you sent to my house were confrontational, argumentative and unprofessional. You never tried to fix the problem properly, even after a $10k HVAC installation. Your lack of effort, professionalism and courtesy cost you a customer and will cost you lots more as you generate more bad reviews as I have seen here.

I apologize for your frustration in this situation, and for the fact that an internal miscommunication contributed to your difficulties. When your parents replaced the system in 2007, the specifications were calculated based on the preexisting HVAC system, chimney, and conditions in the home. The piping kit (KGACA02015FC) you described is a factory-required piece for an 80% efficiency furnace connected to an external chimney like the one in your home. From 2007 to 2010, as our records and your account indicate, there were no problems found or reported during our yearly maintenance visits. When drafting issues began in 2010, our technician confirmed that the problem was not a result of the performance of the heating equipment, and recommended a chimney sweep to come out and inspect the chimney as a possible cause. Apparently, the third party chimney sweep recommended and installed a chimney liner, which unfortunately did not completely solve the problem. With further investigation, it appears that home modifications may have also contributed to the drafting problem by tightening up the home and changing the fresh air infiltration. In subsequent visits by Oliver technicians, covered in full by your warranty, it was discovered that the liner installed was inadequate for drafting both the furnace and the water heater and was recommended to install a liner that is sized properly for both appliances. We do understand that there are sometimes size limitations that prevent installing larger chimney liners. For that reason, the field supervisor recommended a Home Performance Test, to be performed at no charge by Oliver, to identify the best long-term solution or additional options to improve the drafting issue. These types of recommendations are made by a Home Performance Specialist. This is where we experienced an internal communication error, as it appears that the appointment for home performance testing was not scheduled by either department. I sincerely apologize for the frustration that this has caused you, and thank you for bringing it to my attention so that we can improve our processes. I would like to re-extend the offer to return and perform this test, again at no charge, and hope that you will allow us the opportunity to confirm that the appliances are drafting correctly and that no safety concerns remain. After smelling a faint odor of gas in the basement we called PECO. PECO confirmed the location of 2 leaks, marked the locations, shut gas off and told us to contact a plumber to fix the leaks . We contacted Oliver the next day. The technician arrived within 1 1/2 hours. of placing the call, explained what needed to be fixed, and immediately fixed the problem. I would definitely use them again.

The gentleman who came was able to alleviate the problem in the shower quickly. Fortunately for us, he procured the part needed from the truck. Temporarily the water in that part of the house was turned off and in less than an hour, we had water pressure. He was honest, quick, and skillful in accomplishing the job. We had been told it would be necessary to redo the entire shower. This obviously would have been very expensive. Kuddos to him and the company who hired him.
Description of Work: Oliver has done a lot of work for us. This particular problem was intolerable. The bathroom has had multiple problems. The shower was something that we had multiple companies look at. Basically, no one could come up with a plan to provide adequate pressure to shower. Oliver did other work in different areas of our house, including the bathroom. The team that did work in the bathroom prior to the shower, recommended someone in the company who would estimate the cost of repairing the shower. The man came and recognized what he thought was causing the problem. Told me if that was the problem, he could fix it without a shower teardown. This was what other companies had said was necessary. He did it!

My phone call to get estimate appointment was answered live and appointment was conveniently scheduled with Dan Lippin. Dan showed up right on time and spent almost three hours reviewing our situation, discussing options and taking measurements to do calculations. Did a good job of explaining the different flue venting system required for 90%+ efficiency systems. Received his fairly detailed 3 page proposal the following day even though he had been in a serious vehicular accident the night before. Impressive! The owner, David Oliver, called asking if we had any questions. On following days Dan and I corresponded mostly by email, but also by phone, with me asking questions and requesting references, and Dan responding very quickly with well organized, clear answers to my questions and then clarifying items by revising the proposal based on items we discussed when appropriate. I never felt rushed or pressured. Instead I felt respected for getting into all the details and specifics and wanting them clear and in writing before the deal was signed and the installation was started. His price wasn't the lowest either, but close enough. I also got very good parts and labor warranty coverage and a 5-yr maintenance agreement included. I never got any attitude from Dan as I had with other contractors. Dan was always professional, organized, responsive and pleasant to deal with. Dan was terrific! Installation was scheduled for several weeks later at my request due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Scott, the lead installer, was right on time with his crew. They wore booties and put down tarps from the front door to the basement. He organized the install so that we would not be without heat at night during the 3-day installation process which included replacing our 75-gallon water heater. The furnace with the cracked heat exchanger was replaced on day one; the other the next day. Since new pvc piping had to be installed for the direct venting required of high efficiency furnace systems, there was a lot of finessing to install the pipes through the finished part of our basement ceiling and exiting to the outside of the house keeping the pipes pitched appropriately. His team got the job done. The entire job was finished in 3 days, just as promised. Dan stopped by twice. Scott did a fairly good job of keeping me apprised of the installation plan and progress. I wish he had replaced the tarps they put down daily with clean ones, because after a wet second day they were very dirty and not doing the job that they were intended for. The concrete floor in the unfinished part of the basement and the floor in the finished basement were dirtier than they needed to be. I had to request they clean/vacuum them a second time. There also were a few nicks in the trim, but given the size of the equipment they had to move, somewhat understandable. There's a lot of detail involved installing furnaces and air conditioners beyond the units themselves and as a novice I am impressed by the expertise and workmanship required configuring duct work, gas lines, condensate pumps and outlets, water lines for humidifiers, adding new flue exhausts, etc. By the way, also love the new Lennox iComfort digital programmable WiFi enabled thermostats I had them install to replace our old thermostats. In the two months since it's installation the furnace seems to be working fine and the heat feels more even than with our previous system.

The inspection process was great for a first time home buyer. Technician was on time and wore shoe covers to protect the floor inside the home. We had disconnected wiring from some home improvements and it was easily hooked up and running with no extra charge. He did find one issue with the chimney pipe but was able to quickly find the problem and clean the excess stoot and dirt form the heating elements. Extremely knowledgable and only took about and hour and a half. Only down side was in scheduling the appointment. They were only able to give me a week and day then called back with a time. Just wish I were able to easily make a time for them to come out. Over all great experience and will use again.
Description of Work: Performed annual inspection of heating system, and cleaned interior parts to work at their highest level. Inspected output units and gave detailed information on options for upgrading to a newer system.

Our furnace went out and I called Oliver on a Saturday and they had a person there by the end of the day. Their responsiveness was excellent and the person on the phone was very helpful and courteous. When they came they diagnosed the issue and said I needed a new furnace. (which I did since it was practically falling apart and full of soot). The next day a salesperson was there with an estimate. I did not ultimately go with them due to the price (about $800 more than two other estimates I got) but I appreciate their punctuality and their level of service. They charged me $80 for the visit which is to be expected since they diagnosed the issue. I would definitely go with this company again for both service and an estimate for a new appliance. Their salesperson was very responsive as well.

ur heating broke down late on a Saturday afternoon just before Christmas. Oliver was on the scene in one hour and, despite the need for a part which was only available miles away, they came back at 10 pm and fixed the problem. There was no charge as the heater was under warranty, but the service was excellent and the repairman was professional and courtious.

My oil burner stopped working, and I had to make a quick decision about replacing it or switching to gas heat. I was very unsure of the process and relied completely on the Oliver company to explain the entire process and the pros and cons of each system. I was in daily e-mail contact because I needed a lot of reassurance! Their representative answered all of my questions thoroughly and patiently. They provided the contact information I needed for PECO as well as suggestions for support services such as having my old oil tank removed (from a crawl space!) and having the chimney cleaned. It was only because I felt confident in being able to rely on them that I made the decision to switch to gas. It has been almost a year since I had this service performed, and I am completely satisfied. I would recommend this company for any services because of their professionalism, quality work, and being pleasant to deal with.
Description of Work: The Oliver company handled my switch from oil to gas heat. They installed the entire heating and air conditioning systems as well as a gas water heater.

One of the furnace stopped working last year. After some research on internet, I think some of the sensors are dirty. This is why I ordered the cleaning service. Obviously they did a good job. The furnace works smoothly so far. I used the coupon provided by Angie's list. The price is nice, but there is shorter warranty since it's discounted price.

My experiences with Oliver heating have all been positive. My first experience was for air duct cleaning. I had received multiple coupons in the mail with really low rates for air duct cleaning and had heard that many of the companies end up charging more when they actually come out because the coupons are based on a limited amount of vents (usually a lot fewer vents than you find in a small house like mine). I contacted a few of these companies and then, based on reviews on Angie's List, I contacted Oliver which was the only company that asked for information regarding the # of vents/registers and explained the process to give me an accurate estimate ahead of time. The guys who came to do the air duct cleaning were friendly and professional. Since I had such a good experience with them for the air duct cleaning, I used the coupon for the furnace/heating inspection this past November and had a similarly good experience so I also decided to speak with them about a whole-house generator which was installed in December. I plan on continuing to use them for all my heating & A/C needs

I have used Oliver for a number of years now, and have never had a bad experience. The people they send out are always knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. One thing I really like about them is that they never rush through the work... it's very clear that they take their time to be thorough. They're also very good about answering questions. I recommend this company very highly.
Description of Work: Every year, as part of their annual service contract, Oliver comes out and checks our heating system and humidifier. (In the spring, they do the same maintenance check for our AC.)

The experience was great. Oliver was the only vendor willing to replace and install a new Buderus oil fired boiler and hot water system while at the same time relocate the whole system from our laundry room location to a basement location and replumb the whole system in less than a weeks time. This also required relocating the chimney system which they could not do but recommened another vendor who could and stayed involved until that was done correctly.
Description of Work: We completely replaced our thirty plus year old oil fired boiler with a new Buderus boiler and hot water system.

Company was contacted in order to set up appointment to perform routine service check on gas hot air heating unit. The Company showed up as scheduled and performed the required work. The service person was courteos and everything went fine. I would definitely consider using them again.
