In a bind we contacted Oliver H & C to give us a quote on a new gas furnace. Our old system had stopped working when it was bitterly cold on a Saturday. Joe Radico came out to meet with us immediately. He is both knowledgeable and professional. Everything he said he would do, he did. Oliver brought us over electric heaters to get us through to Monday. He gave us a good price on an excellent system. The installation team led by Gerry(don't be put off by the grizzled beard) was superb. The installation was really clean and thorough. It was wonderful. We called Oliver at 7 pm and left our number and got call from service at 7:20. Kevin, the on-duty emergency service tech, informed us it might be 2 hrs since he had to go to Boothwyn to get a water heater. About a half hour later Kevin called back and said he had checked in Morton and they had gotten a late afternoon delivery, so he would be over with the new water heater in 15 mins. I told him we hadn't even gotten the water completely off the floor and he said that was no problem. Once Kevin arrived, he checked with us regarding where we had turned the water service off and offered to help clean up the standing water on the floor! So I squeegeed and he ran the shopvac and we worked as a team to get the water out of the basement area where he was going to install the new equipment. While he was working, I stayed in the basement, cleaning up the other room. When I took a break, I went over and asked him about water heaters since the one he was replacing didn't last 5 years. He explained the workings of the water heater and he wasn't condescending or a "Mr. Know-It-All" in his explanation, nor was he annoyed at me asking. It was very informative and helpful. Once Kevin had installed the water heater and turned it on, he explained we should drain it about every six months and showed us how to adjust the temperature and cautioned us on setting it too hot and the danger of being scalded. Kevin was personable, VERY helpful, knowledgeable, calm, very competent and professional--he was exactly the service tech you want to come to your house when you're stressed out after discovering you have 3 inches of standing water in your basement. We cannot thank him or Oliver enough for the quick response and professional service.

I have read and heard alot of great things about oliver heating company and I must say that they lived up to their billing and then some! On Thursday 3/6/14 night I was watching TV in the family room downstairs and heard a crashing sound coming from the mechanical room in the basement. When I went to investigate I had found the exhaust pipe had fallen off the hot water heater. This is when I gave Oliver a call. Now this was 11 o'clock at night when this happened. I called and left a message and someone returned my call within 10 minutes. The lady(i'm sorry i forgot your name) was very helpful, I told her about my concern of the Hot water heater coming on and she said she would have someone call me within a half hour. Got a call from the on call technician within 15 minutes. I forgot his name to but he talked me through shutting the heater off and said that someone would be out the next day and I would hear from someone by 8 am. At 7 o'clock I get a phone call from Kevin who provided the repair and he said he can be there within 20 minutes and he was there within his promised time. Kevin was very professional, he explained what he did and also gave me a heads up on a list of repairs I will need to do in the near future! Because of oliver's quick response and professionalism from the first call to the repair they will have me now as a repeat customer! Great job and please keep up the excellent work!

Kevin Ravert, the service tech,was another fine example of why I use Oliver heating, and now plumbing services.He called ahead, and showed up on time. He was clean, courteous, "people friendly".And he cleaned up after he was done.I expect the job to be done properly and at a reasonable cost.But what makes the difference for me is how the service tech does his/ her job.How they represent their company.Thanks Kevin and thanks Oliver.

We have been Oliver Heating and Cooling residential customers for over 12 years, they installed our systems and we routinely pay an annual fee for a service and maintenance contract. We had not had any problems with the system until this past Saturday, and we learned that the service that they provide is poor. The technician charged a diagnostic fee, even though we knew what was wrong with the system when he walked through the door. I was under the impression that this visit would be covered by my contract, but he instead suggested that I purchase the upgraded service. The technician stated that the part would be in on Monday. When I called on Monday they stated the part would not be in until the next day and that they would not schedule an appointment to install the part until they had it in hand. They could not guarantee we would get an appointment on Tuesday, due to the fact that it was so busy. When I questioned a supervisor as to why I could not schedule the appointment now, since the part will be in that day, she stated that it was their policy not to schedule the appointment until the part was in. I left the call not knowing if the part was going t be in and also not knowing if I would be able to schedule an appointment once the part came in. The outside temperature is going to be in the teens over the next day, Oliver did not care to offer any solutions to this dedicated customer. Here is a summary of the issues that I have with Oliver: 1. Maintenance contract - The agreement states that you will be contacted to schedule regular maintenance; however the customer has to remember to call. Once I called for maintenance and Oliver told me that I was calling too late and it would be almost impossible to set up an appointment for my heating system as they were scheduling air conditioning maintenance. 2. Maintenance contract - The cost is too high. 3. Telephone service - in general the mindset is that they are doing you a favor by picking up the phone and that they do not value you as a customer. I was spoken to as if I was not intelligent and that I was bothering the customer service representative by asking questions. If you ask too many questions, they transfer you to a line that places you on hold and then asks that you leave a voice mail. When I called back and asked to talk to a supervisor, the response was "well she is just going to say the same thing as me". I am currently searching for a new heating and air conditioning service provider and regret having Oliver install my system.
Description of Work: Oliver did not deliver a part for heater repair in the time frame that was promised. The Oliver customer service representative was rude and inconsiderate on the telephone. Oliver customer service manager refused to schedule an appointment for installation of the part that was delayed.

I am under contract with them and they came over to tune up my old heating and A/C. They told me they did not know how much longer the system would last. I called Oliver, it was midnight and he answered. I really did not know what to do. They called back within 15 min. they assured me that a fire was not going to happen. They said they would send someone out to me that same day and they did later in that day. They checked the system to see if it could be fixed. Pat was the expert who looked at it and he said it would be $600 for a new motor and it would be complicated. He said I should consider a new heater, which I ended up doing. Within a few hours they sent Dan to show me my options and tell me what would work best for me. He was an expert as well, they are all so highly qualified. He explained everything and was very kind, he did not try to sell me other things that I did not necessarily need. Pat brought me space heaters to keep me warm in the mean time and gave me very fair pricing. They were reassuring and prompt in everything that they did. Friday is when they were there initially so they set an appointment for Monday to come install it. They are from PA and they really got hit hard with a storm, so I called Sunday and asked them if they would even be able to come out. We adjusted the appoint to Tuesday at 8:00 am, they were very well trained as well. They configured it so that they could service it from the front instead of the side. They gave me a new thermostat, all of the work was measured well. They were also cheerful, which was nice to see. The man who was working inside was Scott and the one working on the heat pump was Matt, they did an expert job under difficult circumstances. They kept the prices the same even though they had to do a lot of adjustments to make the small space better. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They are very ethical.

The experience was good. I had problems with the unit and every time they were very quick to respond to what was happening. It is a brand new unit and we will see what is going to happen. They are very prompt to come and take care of it. So I am very pleased with that. They do everything what I ask them. They are good. They gave me the best price and they gave me a discount. I've been using him for electrical too.

Oliver replaced my nothing-but-trouble previous 30-gallon water heater after this year?s first ?polar vortex? freeze had retreated. On 1/8, the old one (barely 4 years old) leaked and the pilot wouldn?t stay lit, so I started calling plumbers on 1/9. Another plumber was less expensive, but they couldn?t come out until 1/13. Jennifer at Oliver gave me a quote promptly (calling back to confirm after she checked on something) and was able to schedule me for the next day. On 1/10, Kevin called to let me know they were going to be a bit late with the bad weather that day, but when he and Zach arrived, they got right to it, working with the less-than-ideal location of the water heater in a closet on the patio. The guys were no fuss and very professional (including putting on shoe covers to come into the house). The actual cost matched the estimate.The new water heater is a Rheem and the installation LOOKS much better than the last one?the pipes were wrapped and the unit?s been elevated off the ground on cement pavers?plus it?s much quieter than the old one. And I have hot water!

I contacted Oliver and they promptly called me to schedule an appointment to give me an estimate for the conversion. Bob VanBuskirk came to my home, explained the process and wrote up 2 estimates each for the boiler and the hot water system - basic and high efficiency. Once I decided to work with Oliver, Bob remained in close contact with me to help me schedule the work days and coordinate with PECO and Henkels and McCoy to do the utility change over. I am a teacher, and Bob also worked with me to allow me to miss as few days of school as possible. All the technicians that came to my home were pleasant and knowledgeable, especially Joe and Scott, and explained to me the procedures. All areas were cleaned every day when they left.

My heat ignition to a very old furnace stopped working late during the night on 12/12. I think this was the beginning of our cold spell. I called Oliver first thing in the am and someone was out by the afternoon. The technician came in and I explained to him what was happening. He was professional and once he removed the furnace plate he immediately saw the problem. I had heat again in about 30-40 mins. I would most likely hire them again, only I'll try to steer away from emergency calls.

Absolutely fantastic, from start to finish! When I called to inquire about services, Jennifer helped me with determining what we needed over the phone, quickly getting me quotes and working with me to schedule all services to get them done in my tight timeframe. She was super helpful and knowledgable and very friendly. Kevin came out yesterday to do the hot water heater install. He arrived 15 minutes early, so I wasn't waiting around for him to arrive. He was very careful to make sure our basement floor was covered with a drop cloth. He got right to work, changing out all the valves, putting in the tank and new expansion tank. He took the time to explain the new unit to me, showing me the new shut-off valves, how to adjust the temperature and explaining other features of the new tank. Today, Brandon and John came for the duct cleaning. They were both also early to arrive and ready to start work. They both always wore booties in the house, and were very careful and considerate. They could not have been any nicer or knowledgable. I learned more about my HVAC system and how to maintain it than I have ever before! John was full of heating and cooling tips that I will put to use to help make our home more comfortable. They were very observant, realizing that our vents were never installed properly and were missing panels on the top. They quickly filled in the missing panels, which will make our system much more efficient! John was meticulous in the house, making sure no dust blew around and helping me to remove old vent cleaner filters. They did a great job cleaning the vents. I am so happy I called Oliver. Everyone I worked with was professional and friendly. I will definitely be calling them again for my service needs. I highly recommend them to anyone!

Andrew Hostler installed the new kitchen faucet. He did a great job. He told me what he was going to do and was very thorough. I talked with him about a couple other potential plumbing needs and he did a great job in providing me the information I needed and getting a cost estimate. He provided the pros and cons for each of the options. He answered the questions I had and was very professional. I would definitely have him come back and help me in the future.

We could not have been happier with the service from Oliver...I feel badly it took so long for me to review! From the first phone call, they were polite and efficient. We knew this would be an expensive replacement when we bought our home about a year ago...we were just hoping the old unit would have lasted longer but of course it completely conked out right during a heat wave! We had gotten several other estimates. Oliver was actually the cheapest one of the large, well known companies we got...in some cases by several thousand dollars!! During the estimate visit, we did not feel like the rep was a "salesman" even though we know that was his job. He took the time to explain everything and answer all of our questions when we didn't understand some of the technicalities. They provided us multiple options and did not recommend the most expensive option. They did not rush us in decision making which was much appreciated since it was such a large expense for us. They helped us obtain the PECO grant and also got us the rebate through Lennox which helped with the costs. On the day of service, 3 men showed up and got right to work. They covered the whole main floor in cloths so that they would not track dirt. They worked quite quickly and paid attention to detail, coming in to ask me which way I wanted the outside unit to face. VERY importantly to us, they made sure to get the necessary permits ahead of time...our township inspector came out two weeks ago and said everything worked great and that they rarely see any major problems with Oliver's work which was very reassuring to us. At the end of the day I went down to check the basement and it was cleaned up very nicely. Because they had to drill additional holes in our walls to the outside, there was a lot of dust, so I did an extra mop up but in general everything was really cleaned up. About month or so after the service was completed we received a package in the mail...much to our surprise it was a tin of cookies and two travel coffee mugs from Oliver! It was a really nice surprise and showed us that they do think customer servie is important. I would highly recommend their services!

We had one of our heaters had a cracked heat exchanger. Oliver came out and quoted us quickly, arraigned to have multiple bids on various equipment, with the options that I had preferred. They sales person was highly professional and was very much concerned with answering all the questions that I had. They arraigned to install the heater on a Saturday as the weather had just begun to turn cold and to come back on Monday to replace the second unit as well during the middle on a minor snow storm. The installation team was highly professional and thorough. They walked me through all of the equipment and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend Oliver's and plan on using them for a long time.

In the end, we are very satisfied. As with most jobs, there are unknown and unpredictable issues that come up. Oliver dealt with the surprise issues professionally and dispatched a third party professional to resolve the issue so that they could finish their job. We were very impressed. The crew was professional, hard working and really nice guys. They worked for almost ten (10) hours without us detecting them taking a break. They removed the old boiler, installed the new boiler, tested lines and gave us a tutorial. It just went well. I must add that my husband did his due diligence and research before we selected a company. We received three bids from top rated Angie's List vendor's and selected Oliver. We are so glad we did. As a result of our experience, we have subsequently used Oliver for plumbing too.
Description of Work: The provider provided a thorough and clear estimate, presentation of product, installation and follow up for our new boiler. I'll get to the point. Our 30-year-old boiler died during the onset of the cold season. It was a daunting job, and we were facing it right before the holidays. Oliver Heating held our hands from the first contact, to the last piece of paperwork. Their sales associate staff was patient, understanding, clear, professional and accessible to us during the duration of our experience. The experience was wonderful. Unlike sales experiences I have experienced where the associate closes the deal and moves on, this was not the case with Oliver. Sales staff was accessible to us as the “point person” throughout the job. They were communicative and responsive. The company’s approach to using the sales staff as the contact person throughout the job was subtle, but powerful. GREAT experience, especially since it was done under duress. We also got a call from the owner of the company who told us to call him personally if we had any issues. This made us feel confident with our decision to choose Oliver. No regrets. We really liked that the sales staff walked us through available discounts and incentives that he believed we were eligible for (which we applied for to lower our cost).

I can't say enough about how pleasant, professional, and patient Jason was. The night before thanksgiving and he was so thorough and explained everything he did, what he found, and what I needed to follow up with (with peco). When they called me back this morning they were a pleasure to deal with. This is by far one of the best companies I have had experience with. And Jason, one of the best technicians.
Description of Work: My heater was blowing cold air on one of the coldest nights of the season. I called and left a message and they responded the next morning. We set up an appointment for that evening...which was the night before thanksgiving. My heater needed a cleaning and not the major repair I had anticipated. Jason cleaned and checked the system and made some recommendations for future work. I also opted to purchase their (very reasonable) service plan for my aging system.
