Even Flow Custom Painting

Steve gave a very enticing price estimate and told us he could begin work within a week and finish the job in five days. He changed the start date five times, and blatantly lied about the reasons why (to other people we know). At one point, he stopped answering our calls and texts for over a week. We had given him a check for 1/3 of the estimate as a deposit, and he had cashed that immediately, so we began to worry that he had simply stolen the money. After a delay of over three weeks, Steve finally began the work and did a fine job. HOWEVER, he was shockingly unprofessional, demanded that we leave work on the day he was to complete the job in order to hand him cash in our driveway, and even called us 'stupid' for claiming that a check is considered same as cash. Yes, he called us stupid; I still have it on the text thread on my phone. I would never use this painter again, and would not recommend him to anyone.

Stephen Erisman no-showed and no-called on the job. He stopped responding to my phone calls and text messages and kept a $2000 cash payment I made directly to him. He resurfaced 2 days after our agreed start date with excuses and told me he would meet me to return my money. He did not do so. I have filed a criminal theft complaint in NJ and PA. Stephen Erisman is a convicted criminal and stole the money I provided him with for the job.
