Outlets and lights that were on one breaker switch were not working. I had another electrician look at it but he was not confident in finding the problem in a reasonable amount of time. I called DTS and after checking the lines Dave found the problem. It was a very good experience with DTS and I would highly recommend.

The three projects took most of the day. Dave arrived on time, went over his approach for each job and went to work. He would have hung the ceiling fan I provided, but discovered some problems with it and pointed these out (I provided the used fan from another location in the house).He kept me informed on his progress and consulted me when decisons needed to be made. He was presented with a challenge hidden behind the drywall during the TV outlet install and handled it smotthly and with my input. Overall quality work at a competitive price.
Description of Work: Three projects: 1) Installed a ceiling fan outlet box, wired it, and expanded the wall switch from one to two to accomodate the fan control 2) Installed a new recessed light above a shower in a vaulted ceiling and expanded the wall switch from 2 to 3 for a separate switch for the new light 3) Prepped a wall for mounting a 60" led tv by adding a power outlet and outlet for the hdmi cable that would be hidden by the tv.

purchased a Big Deal for electric work. DTS installed a few new outlets i my garage and gave me an estimate for additional work.. They showed up on time and were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend them for any job large or small.

Right from the very beginning, the experience was fantastic! Dave returned my phone call promptly, was understanding and courteous when I needed to change his appointment to give me an estimate, was knowledgeable and skilled when he completed the job. He even called me the evening of the job to make sure I was satisfied! DTS will be doing more electrical work for us in the future, as this experience was outstanding.
Description of Work: DTS installed a series of 3 electrical outlets on the outside of our house (built, 1869), including one which required him to do the work from a crawl space.

See above for details. Essentially, he only did one item which should not have taken the whole two hours. I had told him it was a ground fault interrupter on the phone when planning the visit. I don't think the time he took to go get one should have counted in the two hours. Otherwise, he was efficient, courteous, and did a good job on the ground fault interrupter. I would not hire him again unless we could both be very clear on what is and is not included and how he handles preparation for a task that is described to him on the telephone beforehand. This was clearly a communication problem and it may be that my husband misunderstood something the day of the visit. I was not present.
Description of Work: This was a "Big Deal" offer and I don't recall the specific date. The "deal" was 2 hours of electrical work for $99. The service provider arrived promptly and began to work on a list I had left with my husband. He was very clear in explaining that he couldn't do all on the list, which I had said -- in writing at the top of the list -- that we understood. In other words, please just work down the list. The problem is that he began exactly where we asked him to, but lacked the appropriate parts. I had told him what the situation was (ground fault interrupter problem) but he did not have one in his truck the day he came. He left to purchase one and was gone about an hour. When he returned, he completed that job and then said he had done his two hours.

Dear [removed member name] I am sorry if there was any miscommunication with the work. Sometimes when I open something up and find more problems they have to be addressed before i move on to anything else and in this case with it being a big deal threw angies list i am not able to see the job before i get to work, and I may not have all the appropriate parts, colors or variations on my truck. and unfortunately when doing the big deals the schedule is so tight that i have to leave right after the two hours and that does include if i have to leave to pick up a part. Problems like this are the reason I no longer participate in the big deals. I would rather leave a customer 100% satisfied then have a time limit on what can be preformed. also to give the homeowners a reasonable expectation on what jobs will be done and how much time they will take. If you would like i would be more then happy to help you out on your other jobs for an upfront price and let you know what would have to be done. Thank you, DTS Electric

I Have spoke to the customer about this, The misunderstanding came when she had called the wrong company to schedule. She said she had spoke with a woman about being delayed and not being able to schedule immediately, I have never had a woman working for me. when i spoke to her she said she was going to remove post.

Description of Work: If there were ever a perfect service call by a perfect professional, this would be it. Dave not only installed a ceiling fan among other chores, but he went with me to Home Depot to get just the right switch for an antique lamp. Great work, great attitude, and he cleaned up completely!

Very satisfied with price and outcome of his visit.
Description of Work: Checked bathroom fixture that shorted out when I tried to clean it. And cleaned and checked a bath exhaust fan that was making a lot of noise. Dave was very professional and did the job well. Explained everything we needed to do to avoid the same problem in the future. Would hire him again if we had any electrical issues.

First, David Spain came to the house to check the underground wiring for the lamp. He gave us advice and information about various options on outdoor lighting and lamps. After we bought the lamp and post, we called David, and he set up a time to install it. He did an excellent job from start to finish. He brought cement to make sure the post was secure. When he saw that the post came in two pieces which overlapped, he drilled holes and put in screws so a high wind wouldn't take it down. What I really appreciated was all of the knowledge he has which he is happy to share. I got many tips and pointers from him. David is efficient, personable, and prepared--a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: We had an outdoor post carriage lamp that got smashed down during hurricane Sandy. DTS Electric (David Spain) installed a new post carriage lamp for us.

Dave Spain came out and gave me an estimate on several electrical jobs. he was prompt and fair but I ended up just selecting a ceiling fan. The fan itself was a difficult install and Dave took me to Lowe's to select a better fan. The fan is perfect, except for a slight wobble at lower speeds. I hired him again today, 11/8 to find an electrical burning smell that happend in the night. He came more quickly than he expected and that was a big plus. The problem turned out to be a bad ceiling fixture and it was replaced quickly and at a failr price. I would definitely call him again and I recommend his work.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for a whole-house surge protector. I contacted David Spain, the owner of DTS Electric, and setup an appointment to have the whole-house surge protector installed. Dave arrived exactly when he said he would. He was personable, courteous, knowledgeable, neat and efficient. He installed the surge protector without a glitch and took the time to explain its operation. He even pointed out a minor issue within the electrical panel that he fixed. Without hesitation, I will use his services again when the need arises.

Dave communicated with me via e-mail and let me know when he would arrive on the date the work was to be done. He arrived on time and promptly began working. Once he started working he found an issue, which he worked with me to figure out how to correct. In the end he finished ahead of his estimated time and actually charged me less than his estimate. He even vacuumed and cleaned everything up prior to leaving. I highly recommend DTS and will be using them in the future.

I recently moved into a new house and a ground fault interupter was tripped and wouldn't reset. Dave came by and looked at the set up and noticed that the switch wasn't turned on. He told me that a GFI can't be reset unless the switch is active. He fixed the problem and didn't charge me anything. Dave was very professional and kind. I would definitely call him again!!!!

The experience was fine overall. We needed plugs changed from non-grounded to grounded, and he checked all the ones he could. We had him back to do some other work for us, which included adding a ground to our box, and installed a whole-house electrical surge protector. He worked with nicely!

Great. David is very personable. Explained everything to us. This was an angies list deal for $99. We spent extra for the supplies that were needed.
Description of Work: 2 outside electrical outlets were not working. The one on the pole at the street, he was able to fix. The one on the house needed new protective housing, so he replaced the outlet with new outlet & protective cover.

Dave was punctual, completed the requested services in a timely manner, and cleaned up afterwards. For estimated work, he explained options and best ways to completing the work while keeping costs down.
Description of Work: Dave replaced an electrical socket, installed a thermostat, diagnosed a ceiling fan problem and removed a faulty fan remote control. He also provided an estimate on some rewiring work for my swimming pool & a installing a microwave.
