My wife and I had tile installed in the powder room , laundry room and connecting hall to the garage door. Tile initially looked great, then the next day it was evident that the installer they sub contracted left a film of grout over the entire floor and it developed a yellow, tainted film over the whole thing. We have been in contact with Lomax for THREE months regarding them getting this film removed and/or redoing the tile, this is their error after all. It is still not resolved. They sent the installer again who could do nothing. They then sent a warehouse worker 2x with some solution that also did nothing. We have a lot of future projects and a lot of young home owner friends who we could provide a lot of word of mouth to for some business , if Lomax would handle this situation with more urgency. I’m open to editing this review but THREE MONTHS and you get nothing but the run around from this place. Send someone with a buffer and some urgency to fix the issue you caused, Lomax. You have our number, call us and advise of what you are doing to resolve this instead of us needing to call you every 2 days to do your job.

Nice carpet, not to happy about the install or customer service. We have a family room with a sliding door with a 6x3 landing. The person who came out to measure said I needed to put a trim around it before the carpet installers came, which surprised me because I thought Lomax was a flooring company and figured that would be in their wheel house, but I guess not. So, I bought the trim myself, but didn't have anything to cut it to fit properly and I didn't want it to look amateur. I thought the installers might be able to put it on, but no. The carpet installers tried to leave it so I could still put the trim on after they put the carpet in. I wish they could have given us the option to take the carpet right to the landing, but instead left a 1 inch gap between the carpet and tile. I tried again to put the trim on, but the carpet was too thick and I didn't want it to look unprofessional. So, I called on Dec 8, explained the situation and the person I spoke with said they were very busy, but he would get a hardwood floor installer for the trim and then have the carpets guys come back to kick it in, but would have to call me back, which sounded great. After 2 weeks of nothing I called back and this time I was told by the person who actually schedules the installs that they have no record of this, but would try to get someone to come out. I do get a call this time, but am told there would be a charge. I thought for $2k for a back room and upstairs hallway, about 400 sq ft, they would be able to fix this and make it look good, but wrong again. I ended up not having the guy put the trim in and put it in myself because I didn't want to give these people any more money. It looks ok, but I wish I would have went to a professional flooring place that could do a complete job. Do not recommend.

Overall we did not have a good experience with Lomax and will not be using them in the future for other flooring projects we need. They shook us down for more money during installation as seen in similar reviews here on 09/02/2014 & 06/07/2015 and 10/30/2014 on Yelp. We went to the Exton sales office and got a new sales person who we found out later it was her first week. Understandably she was new but management had her on her own already and did not have her shadowing an experienced sales person or them shadowing her for support. After struggling through the sale we eventually settle on a carpet/pad/installation and place the order. When the installer arrived and got halfway through the job (carpet ripped up, nails exposed) he puts me on the phone with someone in the Exton office (did not remember his name) who says we are not marked down for removal and rip up of the old carpet and it would be $72 more. I pointed out that we were never given that option by the sales person or the person who measured the room. Even if we were it would have been a 100% yes right away as 1. our township likely would not take that waste, and 2. more aptly my wife and I both work full time and have 2 toddlers to take care of with no free time whatsoever, so no way ever that we would want to deal with disposing of carpet as we have no time or energy to do so. We were never asked about this option or told about this charge, and even if it was, it was never recorded by the sales person or the measurer. This was never an option offered by the company, one that we would have easily understood and asked for (and can afford), but the principle of the matter very much applies. When I told this to the manager he we did offer it, but not sure how he would know he was not the sales person nor the measurer. I said I was not going to pay for any last minute charges that were never offered or explanined to us. Through this conversation he threatened 3 times to have the installer just leave the job site (unfinished), so of course I am in a bind. I told him of course we cannot leave it that way, not just unfinished but we cannot have exposed nails on the floor with 1 and 3 year olds running around. At best he offered to split the difference claiming that his guy needs to get paid for the work he is doing, but he did not see that we were never offered or explained the cost and it is a very horrible business practice to put even 50% of the burden on the customer something that was 100% the fault of the business. I was forced to agree to pay the $36 dollars so that the installer would not leave. After the call was over the installer (who was very nice and understanding) said that I did not have to worry about it and that it "happens all the time". I asked him if it comes out of his pocket and he said yes, so I paid anyway because that is not his fault and he treated me with respect. I will however be filing a BBB report with a request to get the $36 refunded back from the company as to me this is a horrible business practice that appears to be common with this company. Wish I could get more because now I am spending the entire day (at least) ****** off and taking time to write the reviews and BBB complaint, and a day before my vacation no less.

After having a bad experience with another company promising me something that they couldn't get, I was delighted to get what I wanted with no drama, at a fair price. I was so happy with my flooring, after it was installed, that I went back to Lomax and purchased a special-order area rug. When my back went bad and I was unable to pick the rug up (literally and figuratively), it was delivered along with the padding, put in place, and the unbound extra was put away for me. I couldn't be happier with the service Lomax provided, and will go back there when I'm ready to purchase wall to wall carpet for my bedroom and family room.

Quote took some time and person never emailed or called back. Found the communication a but disappointing. Nice install job, installer was professional. BUT the extra material edges and materials that were removed from my house were left in my garbage can. My understanding this type of work is hauled away by installer. My local municipality does not accept. I sent an email to address the issue and have no response. Followed up with a call with response pending Next I will show up to the showroom with the debris.

The people at Lomax were a big help in finding the right tile for our kitchen. They helped us go through many different types of tile's, different styles different colors etc. they had their technician come out and make accurate measurements of the kitchen and for that we're going to have tiled. We had to postpone the installation a couple of times and there were very helpful in doing that. When the installer did come on the day we finally selected he was very prompt and very professional. He made us aware of some of the problems with the prior flooring that have been down and guaranteed us that he would make the new flooring done right. I was impressed that there were fast but at the same time seem to be very accurate. The one installer would make a measurement in the other helper would cut the tile to size I think you got every single one perfect. The chief installer helped with deciding how much of a big route we should put in and we went with his recommendation to use the smaller grout width and we were very glad we did. We had originally been going to put the tile on a slant but when we placed it on the floor within like the way it looked and so we tried putting it just horizontally parallel to the walls and like that much better. By doing this we had some extra tile and the installer said that he had enough to do the bathroom for us and recommended that we do that but also that we turn it 90° from the tile in the foyer and kitchen to differentiate it from those areas, I'm glad we took his recommendation it looked great. The final job turned out fantastic and they had every day cleaned up after themselves. The only thing I would tell people is that Lomax is still selling Congolium Duraceramic. This product is advertised as being an engineered cross between linoleum and a ceramic tile. They promote that it has the durability and ruggedness of ceramic but is not as cold as ceramic. Nothing could be farther from the truth. We had Duraceramic installed previously and after a very short period of time, only couple of years, we found that it had nicked very easily and had lots of nicks in that short amount of time. We also found that some of the joints buckled and were cracked. We had our original linoleum flooring down for 20 years with six kids and it was in better shape after 20 years then the Duraceramic after four years. When the installers for that product came to the house and I saw them cutting the Duraceramic tiles with a utility knife instead of having to use a tile cutter I should have known that it did not have the durability of a ceramic tile as advertised.

Went very well. no complaints. It was a lot of work. They also removed the old carpet and padding. It's worth it to pay for this. We both really liked our sales rep. a younger woman with straight hair. I wish I could remember her name. Compared prices with Avalon Carpet and flooring and they were more than 25% more expensive.

Although the initial experience of selecting and scheduling the carpet installation was good at their store in Montgomeryville, sadly the installation was only fair at best for the money we paid. While at the store we clearly mentioned the reason for having new carpet installed was that we are planning to place the house for sale, and because we had a room where we had our daughter stay with her dogs, that were not as housebroken as promised, we needed to get that room done, and wanted to keep all the rooms on the second floor the same carpet color for consistency. When scheduling to have the carpet done, we also mentioned that we were on a tight schedule to have the house staged for pictures for the first weekend of October. We were given reason to believe the job was going to be done in one day. However a little after noon on Monday of the first day, they stated that they would not be able to finish the job as it was initially stated that they didn't want to rush the job by doing it in one day, and the one person (Todd) stated they were leaving our main portion of our bedroom till the next day, as well as the final installation of the problem room where the dogs had stayed. Initially, although not thrilled with it being extended, I was agreeable with the idea of taking longer would result in a quality job. Regarding the guest room that had the pet stains, He had mentioned about getting Baking Soda for him to spread out on the floor before placing the pad. That was all well and good; however, I truly expected them to stay to at least finish removing all the old carpet and pads in that room. Instead they left about 1:15 or so, after only removing the old carpet and pad in front of the closet area. And although they did some vacuuming of the carpet installed, their vacuum is not very powerful, or they just did a very quick job, there was carpet bits left behind. They also left a decent size pile of pad remnants, in the walk in closet area, where it is obvious we would need to be walking through. They also did not bother to vacuum the stairs where there were loose strands from taking up the carpet from the first floor. Perhaps to some this is extra work, but after having previous contractors thoroughly cleaning up after themselves each day of a multi-day job, cleaning up after yourself should be the mark of a quality job. They also only replaced a couple of the doors of the rooms that were completed, and although I could easily do it myself, if they did the other ones, there is no reason not to put back the doors of all the completed rooms. Although they did complete the job on Wednesday, we are very unhappy with how they left a visible line as you enter the one bedroom, and right as you enter the master bedroom there is spot where it looks like dirt, but is just a few strands of very dark strands of carpet. It is important to note that we had seen this spot in the store when they had laid out the carpeting for us to compare colors. We had asked that that portion of the carpet not be used. Yet the contractors decided to place that area in a visible section of one of the most important rooms of a house. Perhaps the contractors didn't get the message, but it seems only professional to at least place the spot where it would not be easily seen such as a closet area. They also once again did not do a very good job of vacuuming, as we found carpet fibers along the edges along the wall and the doorways. So in essence, the job in hours took a little over 8 hours to do, thus could have been done in one day. And when hearing how another carpet contractor had stayed after hours to make sure to finish the job of a co-worker of my wife, having them spread out the job over a couple of days, and still leaving a visible line between sections in one of the room is not very quality work for the extra vacation day they caused me to have to take to get the job done. As an added note, On our own on Tuesday evening, after calling to verify with the store that it would be okay to do so, we removed the old carpet and padding of much of the problem guest room where there were pet accidents, and put down two layers of paint primer and odor sealer. We also asked the person at the store if it would be okay to request a discount for the amount of work we did ourselves, which she said yes. However when the job was done and was ready to write the separate check for the carpet removal and installation, I asked about a discount for the portion of the room we worked on, and was said that if we wanted to go there they could charge for moving the items in the rooms, even though we were given every reason to believe that the installation cost included moving furniture. The final straw is that when we called to state the problems we had, they stated there wasn't much they could do, but they would call back. We were also told we should have been given sheet with our estimate along with a description of what items were and were not included in the installation. And in that list should have been noted how removal of carpet with pet stains is the responsibility of the customer. Thus we went into the deal with a false notion of what was included in the cost and installation. They also never followed through with a call back from the manager even though the phone call ended with the promise that they would call back. We chose Lomax over Lowes, Home Depot or even Empire Today because they had good reviews, but sadly, although the initial selection and scheduling in the store was a positive experience, and the carpet is fine, the rest of the installation experience was not, and will not use them again.

Choosing the carpet and setting the date for install were effortless and seemed to be smooth. Installation was to be around 8 to 9 o'clock in the morning about a week later. It was during the installation that issues began to happen. I began to get phone calls that the crew was unavailable, but a back up crew would be available soon. Soon turned into about five hours later. When the installers did not arrive in the mid afternoon before they would start they asked for the balance owed, in cash. No check, no credit card, cash. I did not have this cash sitting around, and had not been made aware that a check was not going to be acceptable. Eventually a compromise is reached after calling the store again, and installation commences. As installation progresses, all of a sudden the installer needs more cash to complete the installation. This is unexpected, and seems unusual, but he isn't asking for much, so I agree. This seems preferable to a half installed carpet. Eventually installation is finished. The excess pad and carpet are unceremoniously dumped on my side patio for me to deal with. At this point I don't really care, and just want to get on with my day. Not the best experience I've had. Would not use again.

We compared prices and quality of carpeting at a few different places and Lomax won out. We had a guy come out and measure a few days after we were in store picking out carpet. The estimate we got off of their professional measurements were very close to the one we got in store using our own measurements. Install was a week later and only 50 some dollars. we did move all furniture and remove old carpeting ourselves. Not sure how much install would have been with them doing that stuff. Installers were ok, cleaned the rooms up good but left a mess in our hall bathroom which they were using to keep carpet scraps. There is one spot I found that is not perfect at a closet door, but it is very minor. Nothing I would really complain about. Overall very happy with the whole process!

After having a couple of other carpet providers come to our house we decided to go to Lomax's warehouse to check out their inventory. Much better--we were able to look at a much broader range of types, brands, and prices of carpeting, and compare them side by side. We found that when sales people came to the house the samples they brought for us to choose from were the more expensive styles (and not necessarily the nicest). When I asked to be shown something less expensive, the sales man came back from the car with a different type of carpet but in the same price range, but I digress-back to Lomax. We liked Lomax's large selection, and that everything was priced individually. By that I mean most carpet places charged a lump sum for example $4.00 a square foot and that included everything. Lomax priced the carpet separate from the padding, installation, removal, and moving furniture. You could go more cheaply if you choose to use a lower-priced padding,or to move your own furniture, or remove and/or haul away the old carpet yourself. Also, our sales person, Andrea was very helpful. She did the calculations so we could get the best price with the least amount of waste (this involved figuring our room size with a 12 ft vs a 15 ft carpet width). Overall, a painless experience and we will use them again when it comes time to replace our other carpets.

With a lot of help from Marcy, we finally decided on Duraceramic rather than ceramic tile. The sliding patio door we ordered from another company took way longer than anticipated to arrive, but the folks at Lomax were patient and had the floor installed within days of our slider. I'm very happy with the quality of the carpeting and I was very happy with the quality installation. I remember thinking it was a very fair price at that time.
Description of Work: I had used Lomax Carpet And Tile Montgomeryville Store. They installed carpeting in a study, stairs, a hallway and a bedroom.

When they installed it, it went really well. But the water heater exploded and they had to patch it up. When they did they kept wasting material and wasting time. It was not a pleasant experience and it was just hidden charge on top of hidden charge
Description of Work: They installed imitation hard wood floors.
