We have a smallish (30'x30') backyard that was in need of complete overhaul. We're new to the whole house thing, so we needed a landscaper who could talk us through the process. We worked with Jason (Palat) to plan out a new backyard and have it installed. Here's what this covered: Demo of the yard: Basically, Palat tore it all out. He managed to successfully NOT tear out the raspberry bush, which is a good thing! Mulch beds around the perimeter Basic grass seeding in most of the rest of the yard Installation of a 12'x20' stone patio. This includes the moderately thorny challenge of ensuring that the patio is properly leveled (purposely sloped slightly downward away from the house), on a lot that is already not level. The yard slopes down in two directions, so it's actually pretty difficult to put in a properly-level patio. Installation of off-the-shelf steps-to-the-patio: Since the patio ended up ~18" off the ground, we needed steps as well. Jason did a good job finding affordable, off-the-shelf steps that fit the overall look of the patio. Overall: We're really pleased with the new yard. Everything was installed in a timely manner, and the quality of the workmanship is excellent. The total price (~$8k) was perfectly reasonable, given the scope of the work. I definitely recommend Palat to others!

Jason and his crew did this expeditiously and well.

The work went extremely well. Jason, the owner and his employees are very professional in their communication with the customer and in their work. Due to all the rain we were experiencing in the summer of 2015, landscapers have had extreme hurdles to jump to be able to complete their work. From the point that we signed our contract in May, Jason remained in constant communication via email letting us know where we stood on his schedule. (This is something we immensely appreciated.) If we had any questions, Jason replied to emails in a very timely manner the same day. This built confidence on our part in Palat and that we would be pleased with the finished product. The end result was exactly as we anticipated. We wanted color for all the seasons and Palat delivered. We have had many compliments on our yard since completion of the project. We would highly recommend Palat for any landscaping needs and would not hesitate to use them again.

We had versa lok stone walls that were built several years ago on both sides of our driveway that, unbeknownst to us, were not built properly and in bad need of repair. We obtained estimates from several different companies and after looking at the reviews on Angie's list and the photographs of Jason's work, it was obvious to us that Jason was the man for the job. The caps on top of the blocks were crumbling which Jason said was more than likely a manufacturing defect. Jason took it upon himself to contact the company about the caps and after investigating, the company agreed to provide the caps at no charge to us. He told us, it would be deducted from the original estimate and he would be able to reuse most of the original block. He is a busy man and although we hired him in May, he was not able to start the work until July. When he started the job, It took him longer than expected because the blocks needed to be scraped of glue and cleaned before he could actually start building the walls. This caused unexpected extra time. He was here most of the days working along side his crew. In addition to the walls, he was going to rebuild the steps on the one side of the wall, but did not have enough block so he used solid concrete steps which he mentioned cost him an additional $1000.00. It was not in the original estimate, but he said he would not charge us extra for the steps because he knew we were already at the limit of what we could afford to spend. He needed to purchase extra block and asked us if we would be willing to pay for the extra block needed to finish the wall. We agreed and the work was completed. Being that the job was underbid by a full 4 days because of the required cleaning of the blocks, he did not discount the money for the caps. We felt this was reasonable. In addition, he agreed to reseed the lawn above the walls at no extra charge, but this will not be completed until September. The walls and steps look beautiful and will add to the value of our home. We would highly recommend Jason as he is punctual, conscientious, hard working and does meticulous work.

Jason was very prompt in returning my initial phone call and assisted us in identifying what needed to be done in a timely, professional manner. He commenced and completed the job within the agreed schedule and he and his crew were a pleasure to have around. They were courteous, reliable and professional at all times and cleaned up thoroughly upon leaving. The paving job was more than excellent and we are delighted with the result. Many friends and neighbors have commented on how great it looks as well as how professionally it was done. I would highly recommend Jason to people looking for a professional, reliable paving service and have already given his details to friends.

Removal of the old deck revealed extensive wood rot damage to the frame of the house. Jason's crew could not continue with their work until the framing and problems with the foundation could be repaired. Jason was so understanding in rearranging his work schedule to give me time to have the necessary repairs made. He worked closely with the contractor doing the repairs so that the whole project ran as smoothly as possible. Jason and his associates were all very professional, considerate, very skilled and knowledgeable. And Jason is extremely responsive. He immediately replies to calls or emails. Even months after the project was completed, if I had a question about anything, he would not only reply, but would actually stop by to see what I needed advice on. My back yard is absolutely beautiful. I enjoy sitting back there and enjoying the many new birds that frequent the yard. I highly recommend Palat Landscaping. Jason will be my go to guy for any of my landscaping needs.

Water was pooling in the backyard, a stone wall was falling down, and we had no ramp for mowers to get to the backyard. He solved all of these problems and now everything drains and looks great.

From the first phone conversation till the cleanup when the job was done, I was very pleased with Palat Landscaping, I had a retaining wall installed on both sides of my driveway, along with a couple steps. It was not a large job, as the retaining walls are rather small. I was very pleased with everything...including price, workmanship, and communications throughout the job. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and I plan on calling them again next spring.

Jason and his team were great. Arrived when they said they would and our wall looks great. They did some additional work for us, which we added on to our bill. Would highly recommend them to others.

I originally contacted Jason because I needed a retaining wall & the scope of work just expanded from there. They came the first day with a very large piece of equipment and started excavating immediately. There was a lot of digging involved for the wall and the raised beds in the back yard. Jason referred me to a fabulous nursery that I didn't even know existed in Plum, he also arranged for a friend of his who works there to be available to help me select plants and he gave me his discount. Pat & Ben did the landscaping, they are really nice guys. Some plants needed to be removed for the wall construction and I wanted to replant them myself. I've never had help planting flowers before but Pat jumped right in and it went great. In order to convey the professionalism, honesty, and quality of work done by Palat Landscaping I must tell you about an issue we had, I'll try to keep this short. My old wall (calling it a wall is a stretch, it was more like a pile of rocks) did not come straight off the corner of my house, it angled off of the corner into the driveway. I wanted the new wall to come from the corner of the house and run straight to the street. Decorative stone covering the foundation block was put on the house many years ago but, now with the new wall location there was an area where the bare foundation block was visible. We decided that Jason would repair it using stone from another area that wasn't so visible. There was to be no charge for this work. Jason builds a beautiful wall that will last forever but, he's not a mason. He watched multiple videos and talked to people and came back 3 times to work on this job. He had already been paid in full and could have just walked away. He did not. His work is meticulous. Jason and his employees will go above and beyond to please. I would recommend Palat Landscaping, without reservation, to anyone.

The team was incredibly professional and the completed work is exactly what I wanted. I had three estimates on the work, and Palat Landscaping was right in the middle. I selected them because Jason provided great feedback on how I could best widen the driveway and make it look the best, without yet repaving the entire thing. He worked within my budget and gave me ideas to best meet my needs. It did take a little while to get the work scheduled, but when they got started, they worked through until it was finished. It took several days, and they were very considerate of cleaning up after each day. My retaining walls and front yard look fantastic.

The job went well as always. This is the 3rd time we've used Jason and his crew. They are very courteous, check before leaving if what was done was acceptable, or if there was anything else we needed taken care of. We needed a wire for a light Jason had put in earlier this year (our dog bit through it). He had the manufacturer call and get what length we needed and is having it shipped directly to us. That was taken care of immediately.

.The work took almost 3 weeks as the demolition was much tougher than anticipated (90 year old house). Palat cleaned up each day and they were very professional and respectful. Jason was a pleasure to work with. Picking out pavers, stone, design was probably the trickiest part. We are pretty pleased with how everything turned out. It looks so much nicer.

We requested a bid on installing a staircase and ramp in the yard, changing the fencing to allow this and creation of terrace boxes to alleviate our issues with a slope. No bid appeared for a month. When contacted Jason stated that the bid had been emailed- it was never received. He replied to our email, and we got a bid for the staircase and boxes. It did not include anything about gates and fencing. When contacted about this he stated we would have to find our own fencing, he did not provide that. Had we been told about that initially, we would never had pursued his services. In addition the bid was more than $10,000. We had told him that our limits were $7,000.

Everything went very smoothly! We contacted Mr Palat in early spring, and since we were in no hurry to have the project done, he quoted a fabulous price, literally thousands lower than other estimates we received. He was very responsive via email, phone and text. Upon signing the contract we paid half of the amount, then paid the balance upon completion of the work. There was only one very short delay in starting work (just a few days) and Mr Palat let us know what was going on in a timely fashion. We were in no hurry and appreciated him keeping us informed. Work was finished in the 2-3 days expected. The workers were polite and friendly, no coarse language or crass talk which is important to us since we have small children. We would certainly hire this company again for landscaping type work.

Worked started and finished on time. Jason's communication was fast and thorough. Our job had some challenges to it (yard is on a hill and had different slopes), but Jason's team performed expert work. Highly recommend.

When I decided to extend my concrete patio using pavers in May ? I went to Angie?s list for recommendations. I elected to contact Palat Landscaping. Jason was very quick to respond and timely in coming to the house to look at the job. My wife and I had an idea what we wanted but weren?t sure. Jason looked at our idea but what he recommended was so much better. Our original patio was concrete and we wanted to extend into the yard. Our idea was to just put pavers in the yard and leave the concrete. Jason recommended we overlay the concrete with the pavers and continue on into the yard for a much better look. This turned out to be a great idea. Jason gave us a quote ? we accepted ? and went on the schedule for September. Although Jason and his crew (who by the way all worked extremely hard) ran into multiple difficulties which resulted from having to deal with 3 different slopes -he remained firm with his original pricing. He did everything he had committed ? he is definitely a man of his word. They did a fantastic job (see attached pictures). A few of our neighbors commented on the work ethic that they saw in Jason and his crew. Jason himself worked on the finishing touches and clean up. He also did a fantastic job in re-landscaping the areas that were messed up during construction. He also returned all emails, text and voicemails and kept us informed before, during and now after the job. Everyone that has seen the finished job has commented how awesome it looks and the high quality of the job. I would highly recommend Jason and his crew to everyone (in fact one of my neighbors has asked him do a retaining wall)

My wife and I chose Palat Landscaping for the quality of work and great price. Jason and his team did an amazing job and we were very pleased with the outcome. One of our neighbors from accross the street went with Palat Landscaping as well. Other neighbors are looking at Jason's services as well in the near future. My wife and I want to thank Jason and his team again for all their hard work and amazing quality in service. We would definitely advise others to use their services for retaining walls and landscaping.

The first thing that impressed me was that Jason called me within an hour, while he was on vacation, to respond to my request for a quote. He said he would get back with me as soon as he returned which he did. He came out promptly to give us a quote then again, to review the job and answer more questions we had. Once we had him scheduled, he was very good at keeping us informed about when he would be starting, as there were a few minor delays due to weather. Jason was onsite almost the entire time. His crew was VERY nice, cordial and responsive to any questions or concerns I had. During the reconstruction, there were again a few minor delays, but, again, Jason kept us informed throughout the process. They were also very good about cleaning up at the end of each day. The driveway was swept and all tools were put away to keep everything as clean as possible considering the project. We weren't sure we would like the look of the Versa-Loc compared to the timber wall, but it turned out beautifully. Jason recommended a color which compliments the house and surrounding area. Our neighbors also really like the look and job they did. I would highly recommend Palate Landscaping. One of the most important things is returning telephone calls, emails, texts in a timely fashion and Jason does that. Jason is very professional and knows what it takes to be a successful contractor.

We had a good idea of what we wanted to do about this hillside where little grass would grow and was hard to cut anyway. Jason understood exactly and showed us what was practical and what would look good. He even provided a list of recommended plants and shrubs. His crew showed up on Thurs. and it was complete by the end of the day Tuesday. Everything was cleaned up after each day's work and they never did block our access to the driveway as I would have expected. The finished project exceeded our expectation in every way. Would not hesitate to use Jason again or recommend him to anyone.

I can't say enough good things about Jason Palat and his Landcaping company. First of all, the finished job is excellent and we are so happy with how it turned out. We ran into a few delays with all the rain we had, but Jason was extremely responsive and kept us updated on progress constantly. He addressed all of our questions and was very easy to get a hold of. The work done was fantastic and the crew extremely professional. Without a doubt the best service we have ever experienced from a home improvement professional. We will definatley be using them again!! We are so happy with our yard :)

We called a few providers for quotes and were disappointed that we did not received very many calls back. I know it was a busy time of the year, but we felt upset that we had no response. That was until we called Jason at Palat Landscaping. He came out quickly to give us a quote, and he was flexible in coming out after work which allowed both my husband and I to meet with him. He gave us some great ideas and showed us different options of stone we could use. We have a decent sized backyard for living in the city, but the concrete that was back there was so broken up and the areas where grass was basically just looked liked mud pits. Jason understood our vision and helped us choose what we wanted while also keeping our budget in mind. The result was amazing! The backyard looks like a completely new space, and I cannot praise him and his employees enough. We share a driveway with our neighbors, and the crew was so polite that our neighbors even commented how polite they were when something needed moved or space needed made for parking. The work is beautiful, and Jason even came back out when we had some leaking into the basement after all of these heavy rains to caulk an area. The basement is now completely dry, and we have a beautiful patio to enjoy this summer. I highly recommend Palat Landscaping, and we will be calling them again for future projects! Thank you!!
