Gnu Tub Bathtub Refinishing

Before we called gnu tub, we used a bathtub refinishing kit that we bought at Home Depot. It lasted for 4 year before it started peeling. We had our tub refinished by Gnu Tub in 2020. We have had nothing but issues since. Within a year the bathtub was cracking and peeling in several places. When they came to look at it, I was yelled at and said I was not cleaning it with the proper cleaner and that we had scalded the finish on the tub with too hot of water. They “fixed” it and put a textured mat on the bottom of the tub without asking and charged me another $200. Since then, it cracked and peeled again. They came out and “fixed” it again. They again told me we were scalding it. Our water is not that hot. We have a toddler and have the water heater turned down to avoid accidental burns to her. Now it is once again peeling right on the edge of where he “fixed” it. I called and the woman on the phone said she would let the owner know. I waited a week for a call back. Nothing. I called them again. The woman on the phone said that the owner said, “What do you want him to do about it? He’s been out several times to fix it.” I told her I wanted a tub that is not peeling especially since I’ve spent almost a grand on it. She said she would let the owner know. I waited another week with no return call. Called again. The lady told me the same thing. I told her to tell the owner that I wanted to speak with him directly. I’ve waited a week and nothing. Completely unprofessional and rude. The service is much to be desired. The product is even worse. Here I am, almost a grand out and my bathtub is awful. I could have replaced my tub and surround for less. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Everything went excalent, there were a few pieces ou dutr that somehow got in the tub after they left, They came back right away and fixed it. I am highly satisfied with this company.

Extremely professional and knowledgeable. He did very good work. When there was a slight problem after he left he came back to investigate and explained what could be done to fix it. We decided no to go through with the work but he was very attentive to working with us to resolve the issue. Cost was also reasonable.

They did a great job. The craftsman who did the work was professional, competent, helpful. He was careful to seal everything properly to keep all of the mess in the bathroom. The job was well done. The results are beautiful. If needed, I would hire again.

The owner quoted a price to me of $650 but after completing the job, charged me almost $1300. At first the tub looked great; after 6 months, the finish started to lift and peel. The tub surround walls cracked in the corners. When I contacted the owner about this, he told me that my water temperature was too hot. He would refinish that area and seal the cracks for another $350. I'm not a fool twice.

I had to put down $50.00 for an inlay panel to fix a fiberglass shower floor and the owner told me it would not be in for two weeks. I called them a week later and the panel happened to be in, however they told me they could not fit me in the schedule because they were too busy that week to install the inlay panel and fix the crack in the fiberglass shower unit. I told the owner I needed the work done quickly because my husband was coming home from the hospital. The owner came to do the work and it was terrible. The inlay panel did not cover the existing shower floor markings. The owner told me he would take the shower doors off and he did not do this. He told me he would not charge for caulking and he ended up charging me. His pricing was totally misleading. I called the next day after the work was done and told the owner it looked terrible. He did come back and admitted it did not look good. He painted around the inlay panel on the floor of the shower with fiberglass paint and told us to wait 4-5 days and we could use it. The floor was still not dry after 5 days and we called him again to come back. The owner said it was too tacky and he had a feeling that would happen. He then painted around the mat again. We had to wait 5 more days to wait for it to dry. It did dry finally but there is a terrible smell in the bathroom and it is still there to this day. I called them again on June 10, 2012 and the owner started screaming at my husband and myself. The owner told us he would refund the money for the project when we decided to put a totally new shower unit in. I mailed a letter June 12, 2012 and have not heard anything back from him regarding our complaint.
