ED KOVACH INSTALLATION

Hiring Ed was the worst mistake we have ever made as home owners. He ruined seven windows stripping the old aluminum siding, the workmanship was terrible; taking shortcuts, overlapped wrapping, waving siding. We had to fire him after two days of work. Since he had half the money for the job and the stripped aluminum had to take him to court for restitution. We understand from our local Prothonotary's office that he has a few liens against him regarding his contracting business. Check with your local Prothonotary's office on whether contractors are reputable, they are able to provide you with eye opening information.

We were in the middle of having all new Pella windows & wood trim installed in our home when a question arose. We needed to know whether we should have the wood trim installed on certain windows, since we were going to be installing wood plantation shutters. Our new windows did not have enough depth to do an inside mount, so we knew we needed an outside mount. We just didn't know whether we should install the shutters directly to the wall, or whether they should be installed into the new wood trim. I called Ed after getting his name on Angie's List. He was friendly and helpful, and came to our house the next morning, before the window installers arrived, so he could advise us on this issue before the window installation was going to take place. He was professional; he answered my initial call and when he said he would call back with his availability, he did as he said. I appreciated that he came to my home on short notice since we were in the middle of a project and needed a quick answer. The only thing I didn't like is that he charged $60 for the visit, and that did not include any window measurements - it was only for answering the question I described above. He seems to be very experienced with installing window treatments, and is the head or second installer for area JCPenney stores, though he is not an employee of Penneys. He did not install any window treatments, so I can't comment on his work quality.
