8 Point Construction & Remodeling Inc

This company did some work for us years ago (gutters) and my husband called them concerning fixing and ultimately replacing our roof. The call was never returned. Even if one is busy, or booked, it is bad business not to return a call- it speaks volumes about a person.

The quality of the project was great. We were pleased with the end result. However, our concern was constantly asking for the money prior to certain portions of the project not being completed. We felt like we were funding some other project. Not a good feel and not professional at all. For that reason, we won't use again.

All plumbing and electrical work was done to specifications. The crew were polite, prompt and worked very efficiently. The plumbing problems were detected immediately and repaired in a timely manner. All electrical repairs were done exactly as requested.

Very well. Matt showed up on time for the initial appraisal and estimate, and followed up with a former bid in exactly the manner and timing that he committed. Once a final price and terms were finalized, everything went exactly as promised. Matt brought samples early in the week, a color and style was selected and a deposit (50%) was paid. He and his crew started on the date and time they were scheduled, and stayed on the project without interruption until completed. There was one small change order at the very end of the project, which was handled professionally and in full consultation with us. Upon completion, cleanup was complete and I could barely tell that anyone had even been there. As an aside, I'd like to make particular mention of the professionalism of Matt and his crew. first of all, he had sufficient staff to handle the project, all were young men. They pretty much worked uninterrupted. My wife, who works at home mentioned that she could hear a radio, but it wasn't overbearing, and that the men talked with one another, but weren't yelling back and forth or using foul language in their talk. Decent behavior should be something that is expected and would go without saying, but I thought it notable given experiences with others.

When I chose to take my kitchen to my new home, I contracted the carpenter who originally designed and built it over 25yrs ago. Altho he did a remarkable job of adding a few more cabinets to fill the larger space, his health and family issues soon made it clear I would need other help. So I turned to Angie's list where I found Matt McCune and 8 Points Construction. Not only did Matt give me full and prompt attention, he gave a carefully thought out bid that included suggestions to finish my ideal kitchen with the least expense. He worked well with my original contractor, set up a schedule, coordinated all the steps, and provided some really superior, experienced crafts people. Everyone from his extraordinary carpenter, Pete Carson, to the most meticulous painter I EVER watched, Elaine Castronovo, worked hard to do exactly what I wanted, even though my instructions were "think Rock Pile". They all did such an amazing job matching in new, functional pieces to the style and color I wanted. And when I did a Columbo-ish "...oh...just one more thing..." about a 4-ft spice rack, Matt and the crew were courteous and obliging without hesitation. I now have a terrific large spice cabinet for little extra money. At all times 8 Points were courteous, careful and always cleaned up after each phase, treated my family, my home and my dog with great respect. I'm thinking of finally putting in an entertainment center. I know EXACTLY who I'm going to call!! Thank you, Angie's List members, for recommending 8 Points Construction. According to the listing, Washington County is in their service area; however, after waiting 3 days for a return call from Matt, I called him again. He told me my house was located too far and was not within his service area. My house is in Washington County in Washington PA. I would appreciate it if he would update his listing so he does not waste anyone else's time who is searching for a company to provide remodeling services. Also, when I did speak to Matt, he told me he received my 1st voicemail but "forgot" to call me back - not very good customer service.

8 Point Construction, on paper, was really one of my top choices for our third floor gut job. But, customer service and responsiveness is a top quality and 8 Point has royally failed.

The doors are hung beautifully! They look like they were always a part of the house. I can't even tell that the moulding was removed and replaced. I am so pleased with the work . The guys were very nice and professional as well. The price was very reasonable for the work that was done. The next time I need any contracting work done, I will definitely be contacting 8 Point Construction!

I found another contractor that didn't make you wait and wait for a simple rely.

I had a very positive experience with 8 Point. Matt came provided a written estimate via e-mail first. When I had additional questions he came to my house and looked at everything in person. The work was started on the windows shortly after they came in. Took 1 day and they had all the windows replaced. Since it was absolutely freezing out I agreed to wait on having the flashing done until it warmed up a bit. Once it did the flashing was completed in one day while I was at work. After the job was complete Matt came back to make sure that it was done to my satisfaction. Everything was done correctly and neatly and my house was treated with respect. You can tell they take pride in their work. I wholeheartedly recommend this company and hope to use them in the future when I need work done again.

Matt and his brother Jesse at 8 Point Construction did an amazing job on a full gut renovation. Extremely concerned with client's satisfaction. They took pride in creating the final product and often went well beyond what was expected in quality and design. Most of the problems that were encountered, they handled themselves and I didn't even know it was a problem until after it was fixed. The only negative comment I have is that the project went beyond the expected schedule. However, it was a massive project and some delays are to be expected. I know that they did everything they could to complete as close to on-schedule as possible.

My friend and I recently purchased a 3-story home in the Southside area of Pittsburgh with the intention of eventually renting it out as a 3-bedroom apartment (2 bedrooms on the second floor and 1 bedroom on the third floor). However, it was going to be difficult to market it as a true 3-bedroom apartment because you had to walk through one of the rooms on the second floor in order to access the stairwell to the third floor. So we hired Matt (i.e. 8 Point Construction & Remodeling, Inc.) to come in and build a divider wall in that room, which created a separated hallway that residents/occupants could use to access the third floor without having to walk through someone else's room. 8-Point Construction & Remodeling, Inc. did an incredible job! They were timely in their communication with me, the job was completed in the estimated time frame, and best of all they offered me an incredibly low price (compared to other contractors I had reached out to for the same job)! I would highly recommend 8-Point Construction & Remodeling, Inc. ANYDAY!

8 Point Construction - Matt, Mike, Tom, John and all - Very good job. It's amazing. We have a 100 year old house, with a very small bathroom. The plan was to push the wall back 3 feet taking space from the walk-in closet/integral bedroom behind it. This also involved moving the attic access which was in that space. From quote to demolition to finished product - everything went very well. Even when we ran into other issues, everything was taken care of. Communication was great. Phone calls and emails were answered in a timely manner. Every morning, the guys would show up at 7 am (punctual) and meet with me to tell me what was planned for that day, and then I would leave for work. When my husband got home at 3:30, they would talk to him, telling him of any issues. Every day it was cleaned up before they would leave. As this is our only bathroom, Matt and the crew worked with us to make sure we at least could use the toilet through the entire project. The entire room was demolished, wall removed, fixtures gone, and all the old plaster taken away. Attic access was covered over and moved to another room. Pocket door installed giving me way more room. New wiring, new plumbing (correcting an existing problem with drainage) and ceramic tile floor and shower/tub ceramic tile were installed. They even did a great job matching the woodwork in the new bathroom to the existing house, making it look great!! The stain matches and everything. We are very pleased with the finished product (even my husband who didn't see why we needed it in the first place). LOL, now on to the KITCHEN!!

We highly recommend 8 Point Construction. We had three contractors bid on finishing our basement. 8 Point was the first to get their proposal back to us. They were also the least expensive. They were able to start the job 2 weeks after we met, which was sooner than anyone else was available. They were professional and courteous. They showed up timely at 8:00 AM every morning and completed the job in the time promised. They had good ideas on how to design things and the finished product looks great. They were prompt in their communication and always returned calls and emails. They also replaced our attic steps and did some minor siding repair as well. I would highly recommend them.

Showed up on time. Removed old tub surround and floor, sanded, installed ceramic tile and new floor, exhaust fan, and sink and cabinets.

Matt from 8 Point Construction is fantastic. Excellent communication, very skilled and creative, high attention to detail. Very reasonably priced. Keeps project clean. Courteous crew. Don't waste Matt on your small, easy handyman project!! He gave us our dream kitchen. They worked from 9/1/2013 to 10/1/2013.

They were fairly prompt to stop over to review the details of the job and stated we would have a quote by the end of the following week (so approximately by 10/4). We received no such email with the quote so I contacted the via email on 10/9 to ask about the status and have received no response of any kind. Not very good customer service at all, if they were unwilling/unable to perform the work it would be easy enough to state that to us. We explained how we wanted it doe before winter so now have been delayed a few weeks waiting for nothing.

I can't say enough positive things about 8 Point Construction. From the estimate through the final touches, Matt was friendly, responsive, and made my husband and I feel comfortable. We have never hired a contractor, so we had a lot of questions, and Matt was very patient with us. He came out at our request before the job began to discuss details, and was communicative about the start date and duration of the project. Once the project began, he arrived every morning and briefed us on what would be done that day. We threw some curveballs at him with last minute requests and add-on work, and he exceeded our expectations. He really aims to give his clients everything they want. I am extremely pleased with the quality work he and his crew completed at my house. I would hire him again without question and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a contractor.

Since he never gave us an estimate, or contacted us back, it went nowhere. Not very professional.

Matt from 8 pt construction came to my residence to give an estimate for a basement remodel. He took measurements and I told him what I wanted. He gave me his card and left and said he would email an estimate to me. That was on 7/4/2013. Since then I have not received an email or a phone call. Not professional!!!!

The quote process went very smooth. He came out and took measurements. He showed up when he said he was going to be here. He was very quick on time. He got here, moved through what he needed to get through. I had a quote in my e-mail the next day. He was very timely with it. I already had a quote in hand from the other company, so this was just kind of to validate the price point. The other company had them beat. I gave him word back and he was again very professional and courteous. So, I would not hesitate to bring him out to give me a price again on something else. He ran on time, gave me exactly what he said he was going to. He was again very professional all the way through.
