Just awful and lied from the start. My elderly mom who have some dementia and is legally blind had set up for them to replace her windows. Just days later here HVAC began to fail at the beginning of winter. I made sure from the start of her issue with heat that we may need to put a hold on her install. We had post dated a check and asked the rep not to deposit it until some $ had posted to her account. Have been keeping them informed and then today. Started getting nasty text from someone with the company. Made threats about putting a lien on her home if she didn’t pay the remainder as listed in the contract. This is before ANY work aside from the first rep and a contractor coming and doing a 2nd measurement. Even questioned my mom’s dementia in a text to me. ELDER ABUSE so be careful. Don’t let them do ANY WORK for u at all. I have contacted her lawyer as of today and let’s hope it gets sorted. Guess they want her with no heat but have her windows replaced.
Description of Work: Windows replaced. The price listed below is the total price. So far we have paid 1/3 but it hasn’t even been posted or cashed as a check yet. Why the treat for my elderly, blind mom about a lien on home

My wife and I purchased 3 windows for our home. The first meeting with the sales consultant was over an hour long and was largely a waste of time. The sales consultant was extremely salesy and tried to use as many high-pressure sales tactics as possible. He tried to push us to sign that day and give a deposit by offering “the best price” and some “secret” neighborhood discount (all this was false as we got a better price when they sent a sales manager out the next week). The sales consultant talked poorly on other companies’ products and referred to them as “Home Cheapo”, “Dan in a Van” and “Chuck in a Truck” which was very unnecessary. The sales consultant and company promote their relationship with Good Housekeeping and says that if Install America were to ever go out of business, Good Housekeeping would pick up the windows warranty. This was a key factor in our decision to go with the company and I’ve tried over the phone and via email to get proof of this claim and no one has been able to provide support. This claim was a lie. During the entire sales process we were told our windows would be covered by a product warranty (the windows) which is standard and a labor warranty (the windows were installed correctly) which is less common. When we finally got the warranty paperwork, I read through the papers and only saw labor coverage for 1 year versus the lifetime warranty we were sold. We were never provided with a lifetime labor warranty for our windows. This claim was a lie. Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I will never do business with this company again. There are far too many people involved in the process. Pushy salespeople who you don’t want to interact with. Terrible customer service and false and deceptive claims to get you to buy their average products.

They replaced my windows two years ago. I have two complaints. 1) they advertise the BEST warranty. 100% WRONG. I should have hired a Home Depot cobtractor again. They give LIFETIME warranty which is the best warranty. 2). Screens are pure crap. Mine are already coming out of the frame with normal wear and tear. I called to complain and was told I have to replace the screens myself. At $1000 per window, I now have to replace my screens ?? OUTRAGEOUS

Had gutters replaced and a roof installed with a 50year warranty. The gutters were installed with a 45 degree angle piece directly over my patio. I had to remove it a connect it to my underground pipe. A week later the soffit at the gutters was hanging and they had to come back a fix it. The roof has been leaking for 2 years since they installed. I'm talking buckets on the floor in my guest room leaking. Finally got them to come out to fix the leak. They wouldn't cover the damage to the drywall in my guest room. I'm out of pocket for that and a week later the roof leaks again. They also don't really return phone calls. Horrible experience bad and would not recommend this company to anyone.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE Craftsmanship, and even WORST Customer Service!!! This company really needs to be investigated by the D.O.S., and I think I'm going to be the one to do it... They called me out of the blue after a couple years of some of the WORST contractor work I've ever received.... Said they were under new management, and wanted "To make things right"... They came out to my house to "evaluate" what their guy originally did wrong, then GHOSTED US!!! I checked in 2 weeks later, and they said, "We can finish the job for $850"........ ***BUYER BEWARE!!*** ***LAWYER CONTACTED***

Keep in mind that this was an ESTIMATE and we were in no position ready to sign or purchase any services. The initial impression was very professional and he came very prepared with the multiple products that they offer. It was about 1.5 hours of him explaining the backstory of the company and getting an idea for what we needed done. After looking at our bathroom and discussing this further he drew up some INSANELY high number which we told him was out of our price range. He was writing this all on paper and said he did not have any business cards with him (shocker) We went back and forth on a couple things that could possibly be taken off but really would not have shaved the price too much. I did make a joke and ask if he would take 50% off which he said he wishes he could do but cannot. After a few minutes of this we told him that we do have another person coming out in a few weeks for another estimate since when you are spending money like this you want to have options and not drop your money on the first offer that comes. This is when things started to get weird. He says he could give us some special offer that would only be good for today (after hearing this I should have asked him to leave immediately) and we could not tell anybody. Says we would need to put up signs in our yard and get a few referrals to him and would need approval from his boss. There was also some 30 day contract that he said to sign which I quickly told him that we are not signing anything. He then pull out a number that was 13k less than what he initially gave us and said this is good for today. No matter what we said this guy would not take that for an answer. He then began to start taking his things out to his car then comes back in and calls his boss on speakerphone to explain what is going on (I'd bet anything he was aware of the situation before he stepped back into our house). We then got both of them trying to talk us in to this which we kept replying with "we are going to keep looking at our options." This was probably worse than any car salesman that I ever came across. If a company pulls this type of funny business where they do not respect your right to shop for the best possible price on the work you need done and literally DOUBLES their price for the service, kick them out and keep on shopping.

The contractors showed up on time. They seemed to know their job. They tore out the old deck boards including the 8 ft 4x4’s that held up the roof over our deck. They put three foot tall pvc posts back in that space. Now nearly two years later, our top is falling down. Even though they never built the top, they did remove the old support beams. Never put anything back under to support the roof. I called early on Friday 06/19/2020 talked with Conner and was told he would report this to the manager and get back to me. They never called me back. I feel this unsupported part of the roof will completely cave in causing a lot more damage to our home or worse fall on a person on the deck. We can’t sit out there until this is braced back up to top.

Was told they do not hire outside contractors….not true the guys were outside contractors but they did do very nice work. Was told the deck would be maintenance free…not true…they left three old bare trim boards at top and I had to fist fight to get them to come back and cover them. Some of the old brace boards were removed by the workers and a couple years later my existing roof started to fall down. I had to do another fist fight to get them to send the workers back to nail up two braces. The work crew was very good and I’d hire them without hesitation but never again will I hire Install America. The office crew were 💩 to deal with. Cost over 5,000.

A bad experience from the beginning. Where do I start? The "SALESMAN" [quasi-estimator] informed me that we had to order all bathroom renovation products from his company, even if they didn't carry the style of vanity or tub that I preferred. He also stated that they do "NOT" install nor recommend tile showers...??? He further stated that he could not discuss color options, etc. without my wife being present, because she was the main decision maker. Are you kidding me...??? The guy should be selling shoes at the mall, not $50k renovations. VERY DISAPPOINTED...!!!

Used install america in the past for replacement windows and a carport - Did great work both times. They will always quote you extremely high and then work down "close" to the price of other companies. This time we used them for a washroom remodel which involved: 1) Moving electrical and plumbing a few feet to relocate washer dryer 2) adding an additional light and an additional exhaust fan, 3) repairing bad section of flooring around toilet, 4) removing an old built in cabinet & installing new base cabinet w/ counter top, 4) removing old sink & replacing w/ new sink base cabinet with faucet. 5) Install & finish drywall for painting over the existing paneling. 6) replaced old door with solid wood door. One negative is they have many different people coming to do the job. and they don't always know what the last guy did or exactly what they were supposed to be doing that day. They have a few good people that actually know what they are doing. Unfortunately they are usually the ones they pulled off the job after a day or two. I would have done this job myself but I don't have the time and I thought I could trust Install America since I used them in the past. DO NOT let them work on your electrical, plumbing or any other critical areas inside your home. I guess they didn't realize I know how things should be done correctly. After everyday I would inspect their work , take pictures, etc... A picture says a thousand words. Unfortunately you cannot upload pictures on Home advisor. (Look elsewhere as I will be posting on many other sites as well with pics if possible) Here is a BRIEF list of cut corners, poor work etc.. 1) They had to redo the plumbing (washer drain pipe) twice as they had first installed the pipe under the floor higher than level of the flooring. 2) For the electrical they had to bring out the outlets & switches due to the added drywall thickness. Instead of doing it the right way they used "DRYWALL SCREWS" through the switches to attach the switches to the boxes to try to adjust them outward more flush with the new drywall. 3) They kicked the breaker, & shorted out and fried the 1st exhaust fan they were "trying" to install. 2nd fan they actually installed without burning my house down. 4) They installed a DRYER EXHAUST WALL VENT on my soffit where the fan was vented. (Obviously you use a "soffit" vent for a soffit) 5) When they cut up the floor to move the washer drain they did not level off the patch job properly and the floor was extremely saggy and unlevel in that area. I had them remove the flooring and install an additional subfloor which any novice would have done in the 1st place. 6) The drywall finishing was supposed to completely sanded and paint ready. (NOT) Overall decent but horrible around switches, outlets etc.. The only reason I ended up with a "decent" job on the room was because I basically took apart much of their work to see what they were doing. Also. nails, screw etc.. left in driveway several times, drywall mud tracked across our carpet. They had 1 employee who had some suggestions & wanted to do a couple things to improve the job such as to switch the door swing to improve the flow of the room which was shot down because it would have added a few bucks to their costs. I know every detail of the cost of this job as far as materials etc.. (They purchase all of their building materials from Home Depot) I researched & wrote a detailed list of every piece of wood, drywall, screws, flooring, caulk, pipe, electrical components, labor etc. etc. I intentionally estimated high. Their cost for this project was approx. $8,800. (Max) We paid 17k Normal mark up for most remodeling companies is approx 50% which would be around 13k (max). If I wouldn't have been all over this job myself, I would have ended up with a washroom with bad floor, & electrical that didn't meet code. (They also lost my central air outlet cover & left me with hole in ceiling)

This job was not building a new deck...it was remodel to existing deck. Salesman told us all old boards on deck would be replaced or capped so deck would be maintenance free. They left old boards on all three sides at top, exposed. Was also told they do not sub-contract their jobs which was a lie. The deck guys were sub contracted. Don’t misunderstand me. The deck guys were excellent. The best part of the entire process was the deck builders. But they said covering those old boards were not in the contract. We made several calls to the office and they tell us they are going to find out why this happened but they never call us back. My husband and I are elderly and have disabilities, we can not climb on a ladder to paint those three exposed boards. The company was very nice until after the job was finished, now they’ve dropped us completely. Have not even called to explain why they are not covering those boards. Was also told that the supervisor, Tony would be very active at the job site. We have never met Tony. Cost us 5,000. For removing old deck and stairs, replacing deck floor and putting supports under the deck to 16” center instead of 24” that existed. Also did not get the two middle supports to make sure the space was not over 8 foot. They also installed new white vinyl railing, was supposed to get black metal between railing. Our deck is quite small. This job was to replace the floor and railing, not the steps. We agreed not to do the steps. I wish they would have at least called us back, even if it was to explain why they are not wrapping those three boards. I always said...”You do a good job for a customer and they are likely to tell a few people, do them bad and they will tell hundreds of people”. Sorry Install America, but you get a thumbs down for your management. The only reason I’m giving you a D in overall is because your Sub-contractors were very good at their trade.

I believe we got what we paid for. We had Install America out for a quote and they originally priced it somewhere around $16,000. But we got a phone call during the winter asking if a senior salesman could stop by to discuss new pricing. He wasn't pushy at all and told us they would do the roof for $10,000 and we were allowed to select from the more superior shingles, which we weren't in the original quote. Our old roof was nearing the end of its life, so we figured we were getting a good deal and decided to go forward with it. The workers showed up later than anticipated on the start day, and when they finally did, there was nothing on their vehicles to let us know that they were with Install America. No logos on the vehicles or clothing...nothing, so it was pretty obvious that it wasn't Install America doing the work but a subcontractor instead. Nobody came to the door to introduce themselves. Outside of us taking the initiative and coming out to meet them, there was no communication with the workers. I couldn't have picked the foreman out if you asked me to. We have a big roof and the work took 2 1/2 days, which was fine. They would have been done in 2 but they didn't order enough shingles. Not a big deal. The biggest issue we had was that they didn't make an effort at all to clean up the nails in our yard and flower beds. I understand if you miss a few, but I walked around after the job was done and picked up 250+ nails. We have 3 kids and a dog. Granted, it was January and they weren't playing outside much, but I was still finding nails 6 months later. My wife called to complain, but she kept getting the run-around with Install America. All this to say that we definitely wouldn't go with Install America again if we had to. There was just a lack of professionalism by the subcontractor and Install America (afterwards, not prior to the work being done). We are satisfied with the finished product, but it just seems as if they were happy to take our money, but didn't care about customer service at all.

Friday September 8 – Install America installed windows and was supposed to replace two window sills. One window sill didn’t get replaced and the other was replaced incorrectly. We as customers made the mistake of paying for the job before it was completed correctly. DO NOT pay until the project is done….EVER!!! Even if they seem to make it appear like the customer comes first. For the next week we left messages and no one would call us back in response to messages. I finally didn’t get off the phone until I got a real person and appointment date to finish the window installation. The earliest appointment available now to COMPLETE the installation project becomes October 13th. October 13 – No one shows from Install America. More fun with phone calls as we try to set up a new date. October 20 – Someone finally comes to our house but only takes pictures because new person was just thrown on the job and now needs to go make the sills. He’s gone in 5-10 minutes after he arrives. October 23 – We discover that one of our new windows is leaking pretty dramatically when it is windy. Curtains blowing inside the house when the windows are closed. October 24 – We get a call that now the earliest appointment to complete our installation project is November 6. I call to let them know that we also have a leaking window. This doesn’t make an impact on our appointment date. We still need to wait until November 6 to have our window installation project completed. October 27 – Got a call from Install America asking what our problem is? Shouldn’t they know since we’ve told at least 3 different people? Will they finish the project on November 6th? Will they stand us up again? Will we receive more phone calls asking what’s wrong with our windows? Will we need to spend more time on hold, waiting for calls back, or explaining what the problem is? Will this installation project ever end? Will we need to contact Better Business Bureau?

They claim their warranty is good for 50 years. They were honest and did a nice job on the roof installation, but they were messy and they were not careful around my gardens. I made a point to talk to them about the gardens before they started, and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. However, the machine they used against the house was immediately causing damage. They stopped as soon as I asked, but there really wasn't anything they could do about it. I just feel that they should have been up front and told me that I should expect some damage to the gardens. The men who came out did their best to do what I was asking, but the man I spoke to on the phone was not very understanding and didn't seem concerned when I said they were not truthful with me.

We signed the contract on August 8th. The work was completed in mid November. The workmen and products are as specified. The management of the job was sildshod and unprofessional to a high degree. We let them come over to get a quote for the work. The person that was supposed to come was sick, we were called 15 minutes after our scheduled time to let us know. They sent someone else an hour later. Things were fine at first, she went over the company information and the doors and their features. When she gave us the price we told her it was a little higher than expected so she started going over how we could get a discount that it was only available that night. We told her from the start we were only looking for a quote. She told us that they are the only company in the state that offers that high of quality door and we are stupid for not taking advantage of the discount offered. She also called my husband deceitful and a liar - claiming that he said we would agree to the work if she got the price down. What was supposed to take one hour took just over two. At this point it was after 9 pm on a weeknight. I had asked her to leave and she continued to call us stupid for not buying their door.

Outstanding. Everything from the first visit from their salesperson to the completion of the installation. They offer a very ( and I can't emphasize enough) high quality product. Sales person showed up on time and presented sample and was not trying to over sell. The person who came and measured the windows arrived on time as did the installers who had to work in a slight drizzle. Installers were real professionals and cleaned up afterward. There was a problem with one window not closing properly and they sent someone within a few days to look at the problem and made plans to remedy the situation. Windows are well constructed and look great. Would I use them for another project? Like everything else, it would depend on price, but at least i would feel confident with these guys.
Description of Work: Remove old windows and installed new vinyl windows including picture window. 15 total.

Met sales reps at York home show, they were friendly and we were interested in getting more information about their services so we scheduled an in-home, no pressure follow up. A person called during the week to confirm our appointment and we restated that we were just starting to get pricing and would not be signing any contracts for awhile, he assured us that there would be no pressure and it would just give them a chance to learn about our project. A different sales guy came to our house right on time. He started out friendly and started giving us ideas for our project. Three hours later he drew up a price sheet for about $28,000 and started talking financing and explaining their 20% off deal which included canvassing the neighborhood and giving them names of people to contact for future work. We were very turned off by this, I don't want any company bothering my neighbors and friends! We said no to that whole idea and went on to say that we would never sign a contract without researching the company and the products they were selling. The sales guy said he could call his boss and see if he could get the price dropped, it was just like a used car salesman. We said no matter what we would not be signing anything. He was upset and got a bit rude but did pull himself back together before he left. Funny thing, he took all the information about our project and didn't leave us a card or anything to contact him If we wanted to use Install America. I felt like our meeting was very high pressured. Definitely turned off by Install America now. We have since found the products the sales guy was going to install for a significantly lower price including installation. Do your homework before using this company!
Description of Work: Gave (and took with him) a price quote for home project.
