Beyond Disappointed. A and S Mechanical came to our house to fix our furnace. After three trips to our house spanning nearly a month, the water from our furnace was still not hooked up. On the third trip, nearly three hours was spent cutting and re-soldering the same pipe, which was ultimately never completed without leaks. On the fourth time, a different technician undid the mess the first employee did, and finally finished our furnace. In the month that it took to finish our furnace, we had three water leaks, one of which was in a finished room in our basement. Additionally, we needed to call A and S an evening after the technician left to get direction on how to turn our water back on because the technician had turned the water off at an unknown location and failed to turn it back on. With that nightmare behind us, we figured talking to the owner(s) would give us some satisfaction; but we were wrong again. We asked the owner to call us after the fourth trip, which they never did. I called to speak to the owner, who was unavailable, but assured they would call me back. No one ever did, however, we got an incredible bill in the mail for a greater amount of time than the technician was even at our house. The owner was called again, but was not in. She conveniently called at the end of business, so when we returned her phone call 15 minutes later, the office was closed. We called the next business day, to which we were told again she would call back, but she did not. Calling A and S again near the end of business that same day prompted one of the owners to finally call us back. She discussed the issues with us and advised she would review everything and call me back. Of course she didn’t, and we instead just received another bill in the mail. She was happy to suggest sending their most experienced technician to look at our furnace, to try to get more money from us, but we declined. To be clear, we hired A and S Mechanical to fix our furnace, which took four trips, the last two of which were to just clean up the mess from the first two visits. We were charged for the labor to undue their own messes. We had three water leaks, one of which was discovered by walking down to our basement and hearing the water gushing down the wall and pooling on the floor. After all this, the customer service was even worse than the damage done by the employees. We are thankful they didn’t do more damage to our home.

I would not recommend calling A & S for HVAC services. They did work that they didn't inform me of and my bill was $400 more than expected. They do not call back when you call them. They will not explain the bill you get, you will simply keep getting the bill each month with more fees tacked on. On top of this, my furnace is now extremely noisy and still does not work properly. I will call someone else next time. So I see that A & S responded and I take issue with some of their points: Issue 1: They say "Yes, the cost of the completed repair was more than the ?estimated? cost but please understand that A&S charged the customer cost of material with no mark up and labor was also discounted due to the issues that we encountered" My response: Alright, I asked the workman in my kitchen if the new part would increase the cost. These issues were the adapter needed, which he discovered on that day after not showing up for weeks or returning calls. He didn't really look at me, just said "no". I specifically asked if the issues would increase the cost! Of course I didn't find out until I got the bill Issue 2: They say "The third call we received from the (removed member name) was in reference to the zoning or control of the individual areas of the home. Upon arrival, technician found that the boiler control board had failed and was not working properly. A&S stocks this part and was able to make the repair the same day therefor eliminating a no heat situation for the customer." My response: They didn't stock that part, the workman had to leave and go purchase the $400 part and IT FIXED NOTHING. MY ZONING STILL MALFUNCTIONED after the workman left. No change. Issue 3: They say "I?m not sure what the confusion was regarding the invoices, and I can?t imagine anyone at A&S telling the customer that the $700 invoice was for all the work done. I apologize for any confusion, but the invoices A&S submitted to the customer and the customer paid are legitimate invoices and in reality, they are much lower than they should have been." My response: When we finally got them on the phone, they assured us the bill would not be higher. After we got the higher bills, we did not receive one returned phone call from them and we tried for months. They got their bill paid because they just kept tacking on fees and not responding to us. I will continue to let neighbors and friend know about my experience with A & S mechanical.

Response from A&S Mechanical
A&S Mechanical performed three separate service calls at member's residence. The first call was initiated by customer 2/24/14 for boiler not working. Upon arrival, technician found that inducer motor was going bad. He was able to make it run by oiling motor and A&S gave customer a price to make repairs. A&S then heard nothing from customer till months later, and we returned to the home 5/9/14 when customer informed us they felt there may be additional issues as well. A&S ordered the motor kit and yes, it did take some time to receive repair parts. Upon trying to install the motor kit, it was discovered that the new motor kit was not going to adapt to the customers unit and additional parts would be needed. A&S then ordered these parts and scheduled with customer to complete repair. Was required to use them through my home warranty company AHS. Each visit costs $75.00. They have made multiple trips to examine a leak and found nothing. Leak is still present. Non responsive when I call - almost never a call back.

Description of Work: Needed repair on furnace - not firing correctly. Had 2 service calls and the nozzle was replaced both times (the second call only a few days from the first). Within several days we experienced a furnace malfunction in which we incurred over $10,000 in damages. Called them back to determine specific cause. They discovered that the plate was not securely attached to combustion chamber. Each time the service technicians were here - they would have been directly in front of that plate to replace the nozzle. The technician spent one full day here following the malfunction and did mention that he was probably going to get into trouble for not securing that plate on his last visit. We had many discussions with the manager but they refused to accept any responsibility.

They were always very prompt and service staff were very courteous. Very pleased in general, but when we had a big repair to replace our entire system, their pricing was higher than another local service so we switched

Oil furnace issues. They came right away, diagnosed the problem right away, replaced parts. One part later malfunctioned, they came right away, and didn't charge us. Awesome service, kept us apprised of the costs, and were, overall, excellent.
Description of Work: Oil furnace at rental home this time. Last time heat pump issues at old home.

The estimate was never received. No call back to any of my calls was received, even after speaking with them directly. I found someone else to do the work.
Description of Work: I have called many service professionals in the area recently to get an estimate for services and availability dates for performing the work. My wife and I called A&S three times and spoke with them to get a quote and each time they promised to call back with the information but never called back. I am very disappointed.

Our facility had been struck by lightning, and we did not realize our walk in freezer had been affected until the end of the day on Friday. They sent someone immediately over to look at what was needed and they needed to order more parts, but they did the best they could and came back as soon as they could once the parts were in. Always phenomenal services from this company!
