University Painters

Overall University Painters provided an exceptional service for a price that was better than their competitors. The team kept me informed of their progress, and exceeded expectations when extra services needed to be added to the job. They kept to the negotiated price, used quality paint, and made me thankful that I hired a professional team to get this job done.

The work was good, they are definitely skilled. Everything as far as the work itself was done as expected. * It was the lack of respect and professionalism from the work crew that had me so upset. My house is almost empty, but I still have items in it that I'm still moving out and getting it ready for sale. The house is old 1900. They acted like it was their house and it was party time, booming music,(my house is a semi-detached, so they didn't consider my neighbors including the surround neighbors) I wasn't there all the time, but the one day, I showed up and heard the music booming from the house, I mean So Loud I'm sure it was heard across the street and down several houses. I just couldn't believe it! I ran into the house, and yelled at them to respect the fact that I have people living on the other side of the wall. They still were pretty loud afterward, yelling and singing so loud ugh. I also called and talked to the neighbor they said earlier they were screaming. But now it was ok. They took over my house like it was their party house. - Using my personal items- a box fan (which they later broke and didn't tell me) they left my old porcelain tub with metal markings in it. Luckily I was able to scrub them off, they used my antique floor lamps as their spot lights, even though I specifically told the supervisor (Prior to them starting the job) that he needs to bring some Spot Lights as the downstairs fixture was removed. His reply..."Ok" but instead they used my lights! Roaming around to areas Not included in the job - I know at least one of them looked around other rooms in my house too, as he stated. " I lived in a house similar to this, except the 3rd floor is different" What! the 3rd floor is a finished attic, with a locked door to it, I still have items up there, What was he doing up there!? I felt invaded. The first day, I was working in the basement cleaning up and taking items out. When the supervisor, asked to barrow a broom and dust pan, I was currently using. Then later, to barrow an extension pole for painting. Wait...These are Painters and they don't have Lights, or Brooms or ALL of the equipment needed for the job. And if not, there's a hardware store about 3miles away. They decided to use my box fan, and left it plugged in and running. I happened to be there that day. So before I left I went to see the work they did, and heard it running. #1 don't use my Fan! #2 before you leave Unplug everything! its an old house. I don't want something to happen when there's no one there. I endured all of their lack of professionalism during the 4days they were there. However, the final straw was when they had finished and had gone. I discovered that my box fan they had used was left broken and mangled. Never said a word. I'd had it, I took pictures and texted them to the supervisor. I told him I believe he owes me a new fan. I waited about 20minutes and called the main guy, Jonathan. We had a long talk, he was polite, but tried to find some explanations for the crew's lack of respect for my house and personal property. Saying "well I guess they thought since it was an empty house(no it wasn't) that they got a little too casual, about things." "but yes, that doesn't excuse them" He offered to give me $100 I didn't want his money, I wanted him to rip into the crew and supervisor until they understand that when they are working on Any property, they can't act like its a frat party and help themselves to personal items, or roam around the house. They are there to do a job, so do it! I got a text reply later, from the supervisor, saying he apologized as he wasn't aware of it, and that one of the crew said he dropped it. but didn't say anything more. Then the guy says, "I'll replace the fan its and easy fix, No need to address me in such a disrespectful manner" I almost died with laughter, except I was fuming. I did not reply instead I forwarded it to Jonathan and told him. Not to have Sergio(supervisor) talk to me. I would Never ever ever, advise using this crew

I was happy with the completed job. The painters were professional, nice and easy to talk to. I was happy that the company sent an inspector to review the completed job who also touched up the few areas that needed it. However, I was unhappy with the contractor to customer communications. Job start and job completion were delayed 3 times because it had rained the night before. I was not contacted to be informed that the painters would not be there that day because of the rain the previous night. I am smart enough to know that you can't paint the exterior of a house if it was wet. But I would have appreciated a call from them. I had to contact them. I was told 3 times that they would not paint the exterior of a house if it had rained the night before. Then, the day the job was completed was also a day when it had rained the night before. Not sure why it was OK to paint that day when it was not OK the previous days when it had rained the night before. Again, I am happy with the completed job. I just wish that their contractor to customer communications had been as good as I expected from a company that has received Angies List Superior Service Awards for multiple consecutive years.

Had these guys come in about 4 years ago to paint our living room and bedroom. I just repainted everything myself and looks fantastic now. Our contract stated Sherwin Williams was to be used, but they ended up using Glidden Flat (without telling us), which feels like sandpaper and wipes off if you look at it. Wonder how much extra they made on us by switching brands? Job took longer than agreed, a section was completely missed, paint was on the carpet and other areas, guy was outside my house taking smoke breaks, one of their guys called telling me about his personal life issues (what?), it was a mess. Maybe I was their first customer or something because all of their current reviews are great. Glad it worked out for everyone else.

University Painters are truly the most experienced and professional painters I have ever worked with. They were always on time, very productive, and cleaned up by the end of the day. I will be hiring them again to do some interior painting for me next.

Painters worked extremely well together. A lot of areas had to remove loose paint prior to priming. They worked as a team to finish the work. Upon first inspection we noticed some touch up that had to be done. They responded quickly and it was finished the following day.

Very satisfied. Workers were professional, friendly and followed request to wear masks. 3 bedrooms done in one day!! They did a wonderful job. Would re-hire again.

Excellent! I had forgotten the side door when I got the estimate, so the man who did the work added it to the work order for what I thought was a nominal charge. I am very pleased with the work done.

In 20 years, we've hired 3 different companies for various projects. UNIVERSITY PAINTERS, BY FAR, IS THE BEST. Responsive, courteous, highly skilled, excellent quality, thorough, clean and accommodating. Can't say enough positive about Jonathan, Jason and our painters. The price was excellent for the scope of work. We are so pleased, and we won't want to use any other company in the future.

By far the best service for the best price... they under promised and overdelivered from the moment I requested the estimate to the work being completed ! They did not oversell their services. They were honest, and dair in their estimates, and the quality of the work is superior !!! I could not be more happy with the end products!

The experience we had with University Painters was fantastic! Jon came out and gave us a detailed estimate, showed us examples of other projects, and was very friendly. We scheduled the project, and the next day they were working! The crew that came out to do the job did not mess around either. They were organized, friendly, very hard working, and incredibly fast. The quality level of the job was excellent!

The team from University Painters was very kind, punctual, and delivered excellent work. They are a little "old school" with asking deposits be mailed by check to them in their main office in Virginia, but were able to do the deposit with credit card when I asked. They were flexible about changing colors and adding work when asked. I would 100% hire again and really appreciate the boost they gave our home!

Looks very good. The painters were very proficient technically - cutting the edges well. They took care to protect our appliances, and diligently cleaned up afterward.

Work was excellent. We will definitely use them again. They worked quickly and drew from experience to handle some of the problems we needed resolved. We felt the price was very reasonable for the special work done.

We had wallpaper on the diningroom walls and the bedroom walls and ceiling were textured. They removed both and fixed everything that was needed. The bedroom wasn't easy but they figured out a way to remove all the texture and give us smooth walls. The crew of three did a great job.

He asked questions and answered all my questions. The crew foreman was prompt on the day of painting. We did a walk through and he was very friendly. We love the freshly painted family room! The painters did a great job! They painted the trim, walls and ceiling. The two painters were very polite and did quality work. Will definitely have them back!

The sales rep was very courteous and professional. The crew did a great job and worked through the day to complete the job in 1 day. The foreman took the time to walk through and inspect the work being performed and they cleaned up very nicely when they were finished.

The work was fine. There were a couple of times when we stayed home specifically to be there for the painter and he was delayed. It was a small nuisance but once no big deal.
