Very well...we are pleased

My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the way the floors turned out. Everything went very smoothly from start to finish. Originally scheduled to take three days, the job ended up taking four days. Mr. Grix had advised during the quote process that a large area severely darkened by dog stains might not be able to be sanded out. He said boards might need to be replace. That turned out to be the case after the sanding was finished on Day 1. Most of Day 2 was then consumed by taking out boards and replacing them. This pushed the staining and polyurethane days back one day. The additional cost ($200) was very reasonable, I thought. We did the living room, dining room, stairs and long hallway. We had to leave the three bedroom floors for another time, as it is difficult to empty an entire house for a week. Kenny, the sanding/staining/poly guy, did an excellent job, especially matching the new stain with the old stain. The transition from hallway to bedrooms is practically unnoticeable. We most definitely plan to have Expert Hardwood back to do the bedroom floors when we are ready. I would most definitely recommend Expert Hardwood.

Dan and his crew were very professional. They completed the work on time. The estimated price was the final price. They did a great job of refinishing the floors and there was no mess or dust when they were done. They gave us options for staining. They stained some patches for us to chose the color we liked best. The finished job is beautiful. Dan truly wanted to make us happy and listened to what we wanted. He made some very good suggestions while planing the project.

Their ethics were terrible. We couldn't get them out to do the work. He sent 2 inexperienced guys out to do the work. They were nice, but messed up a high quality Raymire floor. They tried to fix it. He kept putting me off. I finally pinned him down to come out to fix it. The floor is still not correct. One of the installers tried to say we knew there was a problem with the flooring. He lied over the phone and to his owner and manager. I was upset because I couldn't get anymore of that flooring. If they made mistakes, we couldn't get that flooring any longer. The owner came to make repairs on a Saturday. He said 'I don't think I can make you happy.' He 1st offered to give some money back. He was rushing around and had an attitude. He messed 3-4 boards and piece mealed it. He tried to use a floor jack and ended up punching a hole in the drywall! Ended up, he put wood filler in it. Instead of trying to push the boards together, he put a bow in the drywall. It was one catastrophe after another. After he had the floor apart, he asked 'how much money do you want?' He offered to give me $300 back off of the $895 we paid him. But still, the floor is not right. It was a very poor experience overall. Before he left, he asked 'once you get the check, would you send a note saying you are satisfied with the job?' I was not satisfied and he would not admit his guy screwed up.

They gave a fair estimate on the spot, when they visited, and we approved. Their two-person team came in, ahead of schedule; and worked their butts off for almost three days to make sure it looked good - it didn't just look good, it looked amazing!

He did the job for me and the buyers were extremely pleased; they said the hardwood looks very alive. I had a couple other estimates ordered, but the buyers for long distance who talk to him on the phone just went with them so I didn't really have a comparison for the price.

They came out right away gave an estimate and completed the work when we called back.They figured out a way that was easier and less labor intensive and less work to be done on other floors. Super impressed with the quality of work. Was a bit pricey, but the craftsmenship shows just how well they know wood floors! Would def use them again and would recommend them to anyone!

I offer the highest of recommendations for Dan Grix and the work completed by Expert Hardwood Flooring. His work and professionalism is nothing short of amazing and the results were beautiful. The floors had a lot of wear and tear and after he was finished, they looked better than new. We hope to hire Dan and his Team in the future.

After reading the review for Expert Hardwood Flooring on Angie's list, we had Dan come to give us an estimate. He was extremely professional and just by the way he approached the job, we could tell he knew what he was talkinga about. We had him sand, stain and polyurethane 7 Oak floors, including the staircase and 2 Yellow Pine floors. Both the othe Yellow Pine floors had been covered with layers of linoleum since 1932 which left black adhesive over both of them. I was ready to just tear them out and tile, when Dan scraped a section and showed us what was underneath. He convinced us to have them redone and they are absolutely gorgeous We also needed to have 2 sections of flooring repaired - one in the kitchen and 1 in the upstairs bath - both Yellow Pine. Dan did an incredible job and the repairs are barely noticeable unless you know what you are looking for. Although he estimated 5 - 7 days to finish, it actually took 9 with the repairs. He stuck to his original estimate and took the extra time to make sure that the job was done right. After he had finished the job, we needed to have a board replaced under our kitchen island that was being installed. Problem was, we only had one yellow pine board left That could be be used and we weren't sure it would be enough to cover. Dan came the same day I called him and made the repair so as not to hold up our cabinet installers. It looks great! His thoughtfulness and attention to those types of details are what separates Expert hardwood Flooring from their competitors.

We had wide plank, pegged hardwood floors on the main floor of our home and hardwoods in our Master Bedroom. They needed refinishing when we purchased the home in 2006 so when we sold our home in 2011 - it was time to finally do it. We had a hard time finding referrals in our area and accidentally found Dan Grix, Expert Hardwood Flooring. I can not speak highly enough of Dan's professionalism, communication, results, etc. He is as close to an expert as you will find in the work he does. We unexpectedly sold our home before the job was to start and he reworked his schedule, stripped the floors while we were moving out; refinished them with the new Owner moving in. The dust-free process is amazing. I have had floors done in the past and dealt with the mess. Not in this case. Other than seeing new life being breathed into our fantastic floors - you would never know such a major undertaking was in progress. Dan comes with my highest recommendation. We moved from the area but hope to have Dan refinish our floors in our new home. Yes - he is that good!!

I called Expert Flooring because the Yellow Page ad stated quality workmanship and dust-free. Great attention was paid to detail, the finished product showed quality workmanship, and Mr. Grix was very pleasant. This is a man who cared about his work. The floors were beautiful.
