The feature was ordered. My husband painted it in order to save to labor, and then it was installed. We have used this service numerous times and have always been pleased with the quality of work, the sub-contractors hired and the price. We recommend them to anyone who needs work done around the house.

Fantastic - the workers were very friendly, punctual, and extremely well skilled. Tom is a pleasure to organize a project with - he provides ample background and explanations, is diligent with follow up and scheduling, and it is our pleasure to work with his team and him. We plan to use them again and again. They are familiar with new construction and repairs needed for older housing stock like our 100-year-old charmer. We highly recommend them.

I interviewed 4-5 angie list contractors. Total Home was second most competitive on price, but I chose them because of their professionalism throughout the process. Some of the other contractors, while I'm sure they would have done a good job end of day, I didn't have anywhere near the same confidence level that they would complete on time and on budget. Tom was a pro from day 1...accurate on budget, 2. responsive, 3. responsive in punch items after the main construction was done. If you want a professional good contractor you can have faith in doing what they say throughout the process, Total Home is a good choice. Bathroom came out really well.

We engaged Tom based on his very professional presentation in which he said that we would see a detailed spreadsheet of project costs and a computerized timeline of project activities. Tom indicated that he was very concerned about sticking to our budget and completing the project on time. Although we did see a timeline and the project was completed on time (very important to us) we never saw a detailed spreadsheet of costs. What we got was a word document consisting of a group of aggregated expenses. This budget turned out to be 5% over our target and it proved impossible from it to determine any effective way to reduce the final cost. However despite this initial disappointment we turned out to be very satisfied with our remodeling project. Tom has assembled an extraordinary group of people. His designer Beth created an outstanding set of plans and the crew led by Earle executed them in excellent fashion. They are all experts in their craft and there is nothing they can't do. Several problems arose during the construction phase and they were solved with skill and no appreciable delay. In all this Tom managed the project, did the ordering, made sure that materials arrived on time, saw to it that everyone was on the same page, handled all arrangements with the building management, and did numerous other things that I am probably not aware of. The company is called Total Home Solution and it is just that. Our project involved a complete renovation of a large Condo in a high rise building and Tom provided all the needed trades from wallpaper removal at the outset to flooring at the finish. We were only needed to make material and design choices. When we came to the job site everyone there treated us with great respect and told us that it was important for them to make us happy. We would certainly use Tom again for a future project and recommend him most highly.

Sent two guys to do a small job at my house. They showed up on time, were nice to deal with, did a good job and did the work in the time expected.

Total home solution did a great job remodeling our kitchen. Tom Hawks, the owner came out and gave us an initial estimate for free. After agreeing to hire total home solution we gave them a deposit and they helped us design our new kitchen. The construction process went very smooth. The crew showed up on time each day. The foreman explained what they would accomplish each day and answered any of my questions. They were very polite and courteous. They made a point of cleaning up each day and took care to not leave any tools or materials in our children's reach. Our new kitchen looks great and we are very happy with the work. Tom was very responsive throughout the whole process. He answered all of my calls the same day. We really appreciated his responsiveness and like the quality of their work.

We needed both outside repair work and inside renovation, and Tom provided excellent work for all of these tasks. He came promptly to inspect what needed to be done, arranged further assessments by his subcontractors, and then provided detailed proposals for everything. Our outside wooden fence was broken in one area, and we also needed a new fence gate installed. In addition, a number of wooden boards on an outside deck ramp were warped and needed to be assessed and replaced. Our front door wouldn't close properly, and our back door had a broken screen. Tom's crew was professional, highly skilled, and polite, and all these repairs were done well. Our interior work included the removal of old wall-to-wall carpeting from two rooms and a hallway, and then sanding and finishing of the underlying hardwood floors. The floor specialists that Tom sent did an excellent job, and our floors now look great. The crew safely moved the furniture out and then back in without breaking anything, and they successfully protected the rest of the house from dust. We also needed interior painting done on five rooms and a hallway, and here too, the painters that Tom sent handled everything very well, completely protecting our furniture and our brand-new flooring. The walls and ceilings that they painted look wonderful. We were very happy with Total Home Solution, and will definitely use them again in the future.

Tom came out and looked at all the areas I needed work done on. We came up with a list and agreed to work through the list as I was able to fund the projects. I choose to start with the bathroom flooring, which he staed he could do for about $400, but when it came time to schedule it suddenly went up to $700. At that point I was no longer interested in doing business with him. If you quote it, I expect you to stick by you quote.........

After asking him about the cost differential again, I asked a third time for the detailed cost break down. I have attached an email from Tom, summarizing the costs. The description included the removing of counter tops for $3918 and installing the sink and faucet for $609. I called the company Tom asked me to go to for the granite, sink, and backsplash and asked them if the $80 per sq ft was including install of sink. They said YES... As you can imagine, I was beginning to feel very upset as I was being taken adv of. Called Tom, and said if there isn't a breakdown of costs by EOD, then we were going to have a serious conversation. Tom said "you're not going to like what you see." I then received a cancelation email FROM Tom, but he was charging me $750 in extra fees, the ONLY way I would get that money back was if I didn't defame his company and not call AG office. Everything is ACCURATE AND FACTUAL! Buyer beware, if you do decide to use him be sure to review in detail!

Our house had a very old and outdated bathroom and some water damage to a second bathroom's ceiling. Contacted several places to try and arrange an estimate. Tom was very quick to return my call and arranged a meeting quickly to discuss what we were looking to do and to spitball some ideas. Other places either didn't bother to get back to us or seemed pretty disinterested right from the outset. We narrowed it down to Total Home and another company. Tom had the best ideas for the bathroom and was always extremely responsive and always available to talk so we selected him and we couldn't be happier. His responsiveness is fantastic and his guys did a tremendous job. A few days before work was to begin, the missus and I discussed adding recessed lighting in the living room. Tom came out, took a look and had an estimate for us later that day. The wife and I were happy with the estimate, so added that work to the bill as well. When it was time to get down to business, Earl and Quinton came out bright and early and were always prompt, professional and clean. We have an old house and, as such, the house may not always play nice, forcing you to improvise and think on your feet. Earl ran into little surprises like this a couple of times and always came to us and clearly presented the issue and the potential solutions for us to choose from. Earl and Quinton really made it easy. My wife and I could not be happier with the work that we had done and with Tom and his crew from Total Home Solution. We will definitely be contacting Total Home in the future to work on our kitchen and basement when we have the means to modernize them as well. I know lots of people who have nightmare stories about contractors --- our experience was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. I think it was the first time I was ever happy to hand over a check for $5000!

I have used Total Home Solutions in the past for small projects. I have always been pleased with the quality of work and their professionalism. This was our first major project with them. Tom's approach is a bit unique. He asks for your budget, then designs and built the room to meet the budget. He laid out different upgrades and options that varied the price over time (both up and down). but he was very organized and issued formal change orders that clearly outlined the costs before we initiated any change. I appreciate the professionalism. There was a bit of a delay in getting the project started. I expressed some frustration at this, but Tom responded quickly with a sincere apology and a timeline for completion. My main requirement was that when the project started, I didn't want delays or periods of inactivity. Tom and his foreman Earl did a great job planning out the job so that when each task was completed, they flowed quickly into the next. This included the permit process. Despite some weather issues over the winter that cause power problems, the project move quickly and efficiently. The quality of the work was excellent. My biggest concern was the structural integrity of the basement and Tom's design was great. He had a number of excellent ideas such as a mechanical backup sump pump (as opposed to an electrical one). While not a very complex basement, it was still a big project and the attention to detail and finishes were great. As in any project, problems cropped up, but Tom and his team addressed them quickly and efficiently. Very pleased with the work and we've had many positive comments from our friends and family. Total Home Solutions is not a low cost provider. Depending on your perspective, the price for the work may have been high. From my perspective, the extra money was worth the assurance of quality and professionalism. I'd rather pay upfront rather then pay someone else to fix shoddy work. I wouldn't hesitate to use Total Home Solution again or recommend them.

Tom was extremely professional and very dependable. He called when he said he would and showed up at appointments on time and ready to perform the jobs he was hired to do. The job needed to be done quickly and he did this while doing a great job and cleaning up when he was done. We had a couple of kinks but he worked through them quickly and we would definitely use him again. It was a breath of fresh air to use a contractor that listened to what the customer wanted and didn't change the job to suit what they would want or change it to make it an easier job to complete. His carpenter, Earl, was fantastic and worked through a small kink without complaining while spending extra time doing it. Love the job they did!!! Sorry it took so long to post this rating.

He did a fabulous job. He was neat, clean, and very pleased with the service. I recommend him to others and would use him again in the future!

Met with Tom Hawks..went over details..wanted me to have a specific budget.... helped with budget and my selections. I opted to choose most fixtures and vanities on my own. His crew was great. did a good job. I would certainly recommend them

He listened to my design preferences and budget restrictions and executed both perfectly. Tom is excellent at communicating, presenting options, helping to prioritize based on budget restrictions. I look forward to working with them again as I tackle additional projects to update an older home.

We recently decided on an update to the guest bathroom. I obtained several estimates (all from Angie's List) and finally decided on Tom Hawks, primarily because of his approach to the job. First, decide on a budget, then select tasks/fixtures according to that budget. Tom was easy to work with - answered calls and Emails promptly; suggested suppliers who were very helpful with material and color choices. The work crew, Earl and Quinton, were amazing to watch. Prompt to the job, they worked fiercely all day and then were back the next am for more. They replaced floor and wall tile, installed new vanity, medicine chest, toilet and overjohn cabinet. Bathtub was reglazed to match. New lighting also installed - the lights I had chosen initially really didn't fit too well with other choices, so Earl suggested we do something entirely different. I decided to have a bedroom painted and additional lighting installed in master bath while the workers were here - nothing was too much trouble for these guys. Both men were courteous and considerate in keeping work area clean. This work was being done through snow storms, so it wasn't always easy. I would recommend Total Home Solution to anyone looking for a reliable company known for quality workmanship.

I called the number provided not expecting to get the owner of the company. Tom, the owner, was very curtious over the phone and knew exactly what type of work I needed from me just explaining the problem. I called on a Friday and he sent someone out at 8am on Monday Morning. The Contractor he sent out, Earl, was very nice, on times, and did excellent and fast work. The quote Tom provided me over the phone came in a lot less when the work was all done, which was great. I am going to go with Total Home Solutions for all my repair work and remolding.

Tom was very courteous and professional as was the crew he brought in to do the carpentry work on my second floor (trim, baseboards). Turn around time from quote to completion was less than 2 weeks. We also had him bring in a crew to paint the kitchen / living room ceiling as well as two of the upstairs bedrooms, bathroom and new baseboards. Ed Young and his team were wonderful. Very polite and professional. Quality of the work was top notch. Again - - from time of quote to completion of work was ~10 days.

My wife and I could not be any happier with the work performed by Tom and his team! Tom was professional, courteous and met all expectations that he provided. We will definitely use Total Home Solutions again!

Tom Hawks sent Dennis Roofing to give me as estimate on some leaks discovered in my 80+ year old roof. Jon climbed all over and checked everything. We arranged the contract and scheduling via email. Jon and his assistant arrived on time and worked for 7 hours with only a brief lunch break. There were many small and large problems that needed to be repaired. They also cleared the two VERY clogged downspouts easily. I have since had no unwelcome drips, leaks or floods since. We also arranged for periodic checks on the roof in the future. I first used Total Home Solution in August for a very different handyman-type job. I found the company here on Angie's List. It was a smallish job and I figured it would be a good test. The test was passed with flying colors! I have used Total Home for three jobs so far and have another coming up soon. Every provider that Tom has sent has been efficient, fairly priced, pleasant and hardworking. I plan to use Total Home Solution for all my future home repairs.

Tom responded immediately to my phone call. He came to give me an estimate in two days. Earl, the carpenter, arrived exactly on time, worked right through the day; returned the next day (plaster had to dry; new wood had to be purchased.) He cleaned up all the areas of debris and sawdust, probably left it cleaner than he found it! I was so happy with the service that I contacted Tom again for two other jobs that needed doing. Since they are for totally different services, I'll detail them in separate reviews.

Tom sent his flooring expert, Phil, to consult on my floor project. Initially, I wanted laminate to be placed on my kitchen floor. My kitchen and dining room are really one room, but my kitchen floor gets lots of abuse and I was concerned about making it tough. Phil gave me prices and options for both the laminate and for refinishing the entire floor. My home is over 80 years old and has original maple flooring that had only been refinished once before. He gave me advice on what would be done to make it as tough as possible. I chose to have it refinished. Phil's crew arrived promptly on the day the job was to be done. They moved some of the bigger pieces of furniture out and then they went to work. They completed the sanding and 3 coats of polyurethane in one day. The floor looks beautiful!!!!! The negatives were that the workmen did not cover my gas stove or cabinetry with any plastic drop cloths. If I had known this, I would have done it myself. The nextday, the head of the floor crew (not one of the men who actually did the job) came in with another workman to replace the big pieces of furniture. He saw the stove covered with sawdust and addressed it with his crew. Also, my tv cable was damaged by one of the big pieces of equipment. After I told Tom, he came to my home himself and fixed it the next day. These things are the kind of little glitches that can happen on any job. What was important to me is that they were addressed and remedied immediately. I am totally happy with Total Home Solution. Since I found this company, I may never need Angie's List for home repairs again!
