Previous shower floor improperly installed with concrete , Steve and his son spent a day chipping the concrete from the floor. They installed a new base and matched the existing tile. Steve was very creative in designing the new base and walls.

It went well. They did a job that was good and they did everything in a timely manner and they got back back to us. The price was on a high side but we got what we paid for. He is very detailed, he takes time to do his thing. He is very professional. I am happy with him and will go with him in the next projects. I highly recommend him.

Steve and Brandon were very nice and enjoyable to deal with. They did everything promised and provided some additional work that was not in our original aggrement. They arrived when they said they would each day and were very flexible in changing dates to accomdate our changing schedule. The repair work done in all the bathrooms turned out well. We were very pleased with the tile that Steve recommended for the tile for the kitchen backsplash which turned out great. Steve was very helpful in his suggestions on the various work needed as to the pros and cones on the various ways things could be done. When they left each day they made sure things the work areas they had worked in were clean. We found them them to be very honest. The quality of their work was great. Based our experience and how well everything turned out we would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They did a new tile back splash in our kitchen and did repair work in three different bathrooms repairing grout and replacing broken tiles.

We hired Sauder Tile to do some minor repair work on our master shower enclosure. There were several areas where the grout had broken between the tiles and the caulk surrounding the enclosure pan and shower door to wall joint were moldy. Steve and his son Brandon arrived promptly for the estimate and thoroughly looked at the areas of need. They also recommended removal of the original grout at the corners of the tiled walls and outlined the plan to replace the moldy portion of silicone caulk along one joint. Brandon arrived promptly to do the work and was completed in a very timely manner. The work is very professional and no mess was left behind. In all, there were two grout replacements, the tub pan to wall joint was recaulked, two corner joints had grout removal and caulked, 1 partial silicone joint re-caulk, and the joint at the outside of the door to pan was caulked (the builder did not originally caulk that joint). We are very pleased with the work and I would not hesitate to contract Sauder Tile again to do more tile work for us.

I did not get work from them. He was slow to get back to me with the estimate. He took about two weeks, and he was very pricey. The quote was in the neighborhood of $3000 to $4000.
Description of Work: Sauder Tile gave me an estimate for some bathroom tile work in the shower. I had some cracks in my tile. The water got behind it, so I needed the work done for that.

Steve Sauder, the owner of Sauder Tile, arrived punctually and after assessing the job, gave us an estimate on the spot; he returned calls immediately and was punctual on arrival each day. The work space was always cleaned up each day, allowing us access to the kitchen. Each phase of the installation was explained to us, getting our go-ahead as needed on minute details that were taken care of to our satisfaction. Sauder Tile exceeded our expectations of the tile installation experience. Steve Sauder is beyond an installer, he is an artist. The work was flawless; impeccable craftsmanship describes his work. The new backsplash is beautiful -- we would highly recommend him!
Description of Work: In our kitchen remodel, we left the existing cabinets and put in a new countertop and chose tile for the backsplash. Sauder Tile went the extra mile to install new wallboard and additional studs for more stability so that the new tile would be applied to a straight surface. Other contractors had suggested leaving the old drywall and simply spackling over the areas damaged by pulling off the old tile. This phase of the job is one reason we chose Sauder, as he went the extra mile to insure the walls were straight. Installation of new tile went smoothly even though to our observation, the tile was difficult to work with. He not only mitered bullnose corners but also made an incredible cut to make tile fit around a window sill space. The workspace was cleaned thoroughly after each day's work. A tile cutter machine was set up in the garage, and even this space was cleaned daily.

Steve and his son came to our house to give us a free estimate for a tile installation in our kitchen and mudroom. He arrived when he said he would, and he moved up the estimate date to work with our time limitations. He measured the area to be tiled (it has many odd corners), and he was very professional and attentive to detail, even going into our basement to look at the under-surface of our kitchen floor. He was prompt in getting us the estimate within the time frame that he said he would. He wasn't comfortable with doing the type of installation we were considering, so we didn't end up using his services, but I was very happy with his professionalism, reliability, and good communication.

This was a challenging job and turned out to be more work and take longer than expected, including new cement substrate for the damaged area. The area that was repaired can be seen on close examination due to the slight color mismatch of the tiles, but it's a decent match for the rest of the floor and is not noticeable to the casual visitor. The quality of the work is excellent, and Mr Sauder kept me informed of all aspects of the work and kept his appointments. The cost of this repair was high, but not unreasonable given the scope of the work, and the lack of reasonable alternatives to preserve the look of the old bathroom.
Description of Work: 1939 original bathroom: Floor has one-inch hexagonal tiles in black-and-white pattern, set in cement. Cement substrate had settled and deteriorated over about 3-4 square feet, leading to areas of loose tiles that could not simply be reset. Mr Sauder worked with me to analyze the work that had to be done, found tiles that were an approximate match in color to the old tiles, removed and rebuilt the damaged floor area, and individually hand-set the new tiles in a pattern to match the original.

The price above includes all of the materials. It went wonderful. He installed the backsplash and then did the floor. Everything looks great!
Description of Work: Steve was great to work with! We heard about him from Classic Granite and Marble, when we bought our granite countertops. They also had examples of his backsplash there. I then looked up on Angie's List, where he got a great review. We called him and he came out here on 12/21/09. We discussed possibilities for the backsplash. We had some examples of tiles that he gave comments on. He suggested that he could cut up a sample granite piece that I had which matched the countertop. We loved that idea and asked him to go with it. We set up a date for him to do his work, starting January 4. He finished today on 1/14/10. Not only does the backsplash look wonderful, but he also added in pieces of granite in the tiled floor. He is very thorough and pretty much a perfectionist. I also enjoyed that on 2 of the days he brought his son, patiently teaching him tiling skills. It ended up taking a day longer than he expected it to, but with a set price up front, that was fine. He would often step back to make sure everything was looking good. He asked my opinion on everything, including where to put the small pieces of granite. My husband's car was broke down for the first week and we were both home most of the time. That didn't seem to bother Steve at all. He's great to talk to and great to work with!!! I'd recommend him to anyone!

Steve is excellent to work with. He has creative ideas for design and is a perfectionist in his work. He is very detail oriented and makes sure the job is done right. He makes sure to clean up properly and never leaves a mess behind. He is punctual and often finishes the job earlier than predicted. He is very comfortable to have around the house and was very patient when our two children (ages 2 and 3 at the time) liked to watch him work. Our bathrooms and fireplace look beautiful! I have recommended Steve to friends and family and those who have used him have been incredibly happy with the results. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone to do tile or stone work. We hope to have him back soon to tile a backsplash in our kitchen.
