Windows Plus

The process went by very well. Steve came out and provided an overview as well as an estimate for the work. He understood our needs completely and recommend windows and a door that meet our needs as opposed to trying to sell us on the premium package. His candor and honest assessment was very much appreciated. Once the materials were in stock the team came out and installed the windows. It took about a day for everything to be installed,. Upon finishing the installer noted that additional work/material were required for the capping. He advised that they would come back out and finish the Job shortly. About a week later, it was finished and he windows and door look great. We have already noticed the difference in the temperature, and with a small heater this space could be used year round. Overall, met all of our expectations and we would certainly recommend/use in the future.

The salesman, Steve Booth, came by and gave us our estimate. Steve is very knowledgeable about his product line and was very quick about providing a solution to our window issues. I never felt pressured to make an immediate decision and Steve was very cool with that :-) After he gave the estimate, I wrote a check for a small down payment (33%). A few days later I received a call from WinowsPlus to schedule an appointment for them to come in an make precise measurements for our windows. They came by in a few days and took a mere 15 minutes to make the measurements. After that, the windows were put on order and took approximately 6 weeks to come in. They called me and scheduled a date to come by and install them. So it was a little under 2 months to from estimate to installation. That duration worked well for me. I wasn't there when they installed them but my said they were incredibly fast and very nice to her and my two little girls. The experience was so good that we are having WindowsPlus replace the rest of our 1st floor windows (9). This is way ahead of our originally planned home remodelling schedule.

The salesmen was excellent. Everything he said they were going to do went exactly as he said. The whole process was very smooth and they are very reliable.

We did not feel comfortable with him because he talked us into a lot of things that we did not want or could not afford. We do not think it was professional of him.

Their sales guy was very nice and explained the products. He had a book with their products listed but did not have the product I selected. I picked a ProVia door, the options, the type of installation, etc. and I was given a quote. After all that I got a call that they were no longer an authorized ProVia dealer. Their price was within the range of the other 2 estimates and they were very responsive. It was annoying that they did not have what I wanted after spending the time to select. However, I would recommend them to friends and family andI would use them again in the future.

We scheduled a start date, and Chip and Anthony installed our windows - 15 standard OKNA windows, 2 large picture windows, and 1 large bow window in the kitchen. All these were installed in a timely fashion with very little clean-up needed afterward. In four years, we have not had one complaint about the quality or performance of our new windows

Warren Weiner walked through our basement to look at our windows and sliding glass door. He also looked at our siding. He quoted some prices as we walked around the house. At the end I asked when we would get the estimate and mor info on the products used. He said "I can write an estimate but I'd rather just schedule you to get the work completed." I explained he was the first person out to give us a quote and I wouldn't hire him on the spot without seeing and estimate. He seemed annoyed but then did the estimate. Needless to say we did not use his services.

I thought they were very helpful, quick to respond and did an overall good job. Then when I had complaints, they were able to come out and fix the problem right away.

We had 3 estimates for 12 double hung windows. They all came in around the same . Windows Plus was $100.00 more . I am sure if we wanted to go with them we could have negotiated on that. The other 2 window companies were very professional . They brought in samples of their windows in a cover case very clean. Windows Plus did not come in with the window ,and was a hour late. He started in on telling us about the windows and asked how we would be paying for the windows.And he wanted a deposit after we told him we are getting other estimates very pushy. Then ask if we wanted to see the window. He went to the truck and brought in this window that was full of spider webs , rusty handle to carry it and sat it on my carpet which made a puddle on my carpets. Needles to say we did not go with this company. Yesterday I received a call from the sales man. I told him we decided to go with another company. I was asked what company we went with , I told him . Then how much we paid , which I said it doesn't matter it was our choice . Then was told that the company we went with had very cheap windows! Which we did research and believe they are good windows . I also had received a call this morning from a women in the office still trying to get me to switch. As far as I am concerned were way to pushy and professional .

The Windows Plus salesman was not very personable but he was very knowledgable. He answered every question honestly and straightforward. That is what I would prefer in a saleman, not some slick saleman that throws one high price at me then calls his "manager" on the phone and the manager says that their "commercial" installers are a little slow right now so, if I sign today, they can give me a 25% discount. What BS. (This is what Castle windows did). The salesman recommend a door from Alside. I was buying a 6' sliding door and a 9' sliding door. The two installers showed up on time. They quickly removed the old doors. While one man prepared the frame for the new door, the second man assembled the new sliding doors. Both men put the new doors in place, secured them in place and insulated all around. It was obvious that these installers were very experienced. The then moved on to the 2nd door and completed this installation in the same professional manner. The old doors were removed and the install area was cleaned up. I am writing this review over 1 1/2 years since the install and I love these doors. The doors are solid and they provide me with superior insulation during the coldest days and the hottest days. I am thinking of moving soon and as I look at older homes, I am not concerned that they need windows and doors replaced because I know that I can call Windows Plus and get a great job at a very competitive price. This is the second time I have used Windows Plus over an 8 year span. They know their industry and they stand behind the products they sell and the installation. It's good to have a contracter like Windows Plus.

I just didn't feel comfortable with having the work done by them b/c they seemed very aggressive on the marketing side of things. They have a lot of great reviews on Angie's List, but I've heard that they give a discount for those who report on them.

The owner, Ed Lancaster, contacted me regarding a quote request I submitted on their website. We setup an appointment for Wed, 5/25/11. Salesman, Lennon Knight, came to my home for a showing of the Okna window. He was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. He said he'd call that Friday to arrange a second visit. I requested an emailed copy of the quote in advance for review. He said, "No problem". Despite making multiple attempts to obtain the quote, Lennon was pretty unresponsive. I called the main office expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of attention I received as a potential customer. The quote was emailed and a couple days later I was put into contact with the owner. Ed made a personal visit to my home on 6/21/11 to try to smooth things over and seal a contract. He was pleasant and addressed my questions. We secured a deal which included a promise to use his most experienced installers, Anthony and Chip, on my job. My new windows should be installed within the next 4-6 weeks. This is the single most expensive transaction I've made since I bought my home. So stay tuned as I will most certainly provide an update on how the job progresses from now until the installation is complete.

I was very pleased with their estimate because I felt that I was getting a quality product for a reasonable price. I had obtained only one other estimate where I felt that I was being sold more window than I really needed for more than I wanted to pay. Windows Plus replaced virtually all of the old, original wooden windows in my older twin house ( built in the 1930's). The salesman, John, was very professional and didn't try to push anything on me that I didn't need. He was very thorough about explaining what makes for a quality window that will save energy costs and look just fine. The work team did a very professional job with the installation and removal of the original windows. The finished windows look so great that it almost looks like there was more done to the outside of my house than just new windows. The whole outside looks fresh and new. The only problem was that one of my dining room windows took a little longer to replace because of a series of shipping and measurement errors. The first one came broken in the shipment. The replacement for that one came with the wrong measurements. The third replacement had the grid on both the top and bottom instead of just on the top. Although this was a bit of a set back, these problems seemed to be mainly at the manufacturer's end rather than with Windows Plus. All of the windows were replaced except for this one and when the last replacement for this one came in, they went ahead and installed it. Then when the correct bottom part came in the just had to exchange it for the wrong part without having to redo the installation. They were very apologetic about the series of delays and very responsive to my phone calls for updates. I am so pleased with the quality of my new windows. There was a noticeable difference in my home's ability to keep the warmth in throughout the winter and now, to keep the cool AC air inside so far this spring/summer. I have lready recommended Windows Plus to a co-worker who needed new siding. She hired them and was very pleased with their work and their price.

They were very professional. I let them in the house to do the work, left for work, and was checking every now and then because I work close by. I was very pleased with their work. I think they did a good job.

I gave them an A and called them back for more business.

The experience was very good. Steve came out and met with us, explained everything very thoroughly and gave good recommendations on what would be good windows for us. After doing a significant amount of research on the types of windows, we decided to go with WindowsPlus rather than another local company based on the quoted price for the quality of windows we were considering (about $5,000 less than the competitor). Although it took a while to get on the calendar (about a month and a hafl) this seemed to be standard among the companies we looked at. When the work was finally started, Anthony and Chip installed and were great - very punctual and did a great job to be as unobtrusive as possible. They had a crew with them to do things like move pictures or items in the way and to clean up. The windows are great - very high quality and a significant upgrade. The only things keeping me from giving them a higher grade are (i) there were about 6 nails left on carpets in various rooms that they missed after the first day. But I told Anthony about this and he apologized and it didn't happen again. And (ii) they installed the wrong type of window in the basement (a glass block without an access vent - I had ordered one with a vent). But I notified them and they were apologetic and said they would refund the difference; it wasn't a big enough deal to have them do it over. I'll definitely use them in the future.

Accepted a quote from Lennon Knight with WindowsPlus on 10/20/2010 for replacement of 9 windows with Okna 800 series windows. The deposit check was cached a day later. Mr. Knight was professional and enjoyed our dog. He originally estimated installation to occur the last week of November. We were lead to believe a technician would perform final window measurement at the same time we accepted the quote, but another week elapsed before a technician was sent. When the technician came he arrived 45 minutes late, though weather and traffic were bad that morning. He apologized for being late. The technician was professional and completed measuring within 10-15 minutes. After measuring, Mr. Knight re-estimated installation around 12/2/2010. He explained the window manufacturer was "slammed" but, because were were expecting a baby in December and our installation date already slipped once, he would have our project expedited. Mr. Knight said he would contact us when WindowsPlus received the windows from the manufacturer and could schedule installation the week after. As of this writing, 12/10/2010, WindowsPlus has yet to schedule installation with us. We understand that due to the tax credit expiring the manufacturer is probably backed up with orders. WindowsPlus likely took advantage of the rush for windows and overbooked themselves. Unfortunately, this is our most diplomatic guess what's going on, because we haven't heard from Mr. Knight since the end of October. He hasn't explained the delay nor the status of our project despite reaching out to him yesterday.

The interaction was limited. They assessed the problem. They did the repair it and it seems to have fixed the problem. They were courteous and professional. I don't recall any issues at all. They were very responsive and punctual.

It was more money than I wanted to spend but I did get other estimates and I am pleased with the end result.

I first used the "Service Magic" service. IT's free and they send you 3 names of contractors. The 1st contractor that showed up was "Castle Windows." They tried to pull the "let me call my supervisor," scam on me. He said if ordered that very minute, the suprvisor could take 30% off the price. I had to ask him to leave. The other 2 contractors were nice and I could have used them and been happy but they used products that they could by from a supply house with an upcharge to me. When you go back to the Service Magic website, it does not allow you to look at any other contractors. Service Magic is a "lead generator." The companies they offer pay service magic. I would think if you are a good company, you don't need to pay anyone for business. I used Windows Plus in the past for a $5000.00 window job at a previous home. They did a fantastic job. The salesman they sent was NOT a typical fast talking, aggressive salesman. No pressure. He was very calm and he knew his products. The salesman offered me a brand that I wasn't familiar with. The price was lower than all other quotes. I checked out the brand on the web and it looked good. The date of the install was a few weeks from when I placed the order but I think that was because they were very busy. The installers have worked for Windows plus for many years. I think that shows that they do a good job. I love my new doors. Once the sliding doors were installed I noticed a noticable difference in the amount of time the heater need to go on, and the temperatures in the areas around the doors was the same as the rest of the house. The doors also qualified for the gov't rebate. Finding a contractor can be a crap shoot so I hope Windows Plus and Ed the owner stay in business as long as I need a window/door contractor.

They were the high bidder.( I did NOT go with the low bidder when choosing the company to do the work, so price was not my only concern.) Professionalism was my first concern, and I felt very uncomfortable in this regard. They alone of the five bidders wasted my time (not just one visit to the house, but two visits including a time-wasting effort to measure the windows when they had yet to get the job). The sales pith was slick and bordered on pushy("the price will be lower if you put the order in before the end of the year"), including a vist from two sales persons together. In short, this was the used car appproach. I ended up going with a company who saved me thousands of dollars (over 20% lower) and who took the New Lexus dealer approach - low-key and respectful of my time.

I had several estimates when I was looking to replace my windows. Windows Plus was hands down the most responsive to my concerns. Their estimate was very fair. I wanted larger windows than some of the original windows, so some openings had to be altered. New sills and trim were added to all windows. Capping and sealing was also included. One of the windows had a crack when installed and another window's sealing was defective.. John Thomas, our sales rep, handled everything from the estimate to troubleshooting the problems, with courtesy and efficiency. I ordered the windows with a full screen. This has caused some problems because it is very difficult to remove the screens on this brand of window. Windows Plus also replaced some weather stripping on windows they installed for me about 10 years ago at no extra cost to me. I thought Windows Plus was a great company to deal with 10 years ago and even more so today. I heartily recommend them.

I was getting 5 bids from various window contractors (all "A") reports on Angies List. I had initially set up an appointment with Windows Plus but then my next door neighbor told me that they had a poor experience with them the previous summer, so I cancelled the appointment and I told Lisa at the Windows Plus office that my neighbors weren't happy with their experience, I wouldn't use them for that reason, so they would be wasting their time and mine by bidding on the job. John from Windows Plus showed up anyway. Then he proceeded to call the president of the company on my phone and made me talk to him for 10 minutes. Then he asked if he could bring his example window inside and give me a bid. I let him go ahead because I was really uncomfortable and weirded-out. He ended his visit with asking me if I was taking out a home improvement loan to pay for the windows, which I thought was completely out of line and none of his business. So after all that, he calls me a week later to ask if they won the job and when I told him "no" , he asked me who did win it. When I told him, he proceeded to bad-mouth the company. My whole experience with them was uncomfortable and I thought they were unprofessional.

The owner/representative was very professional, punctual and informative. The work went as described and we are very pleased. The guys who did the installation were professional, helpful and tidy.
