After calling several companies and receiving estimates, I decided on Chimney Cricket because of their level of professionalism. Everyone at Chimney Cricket was helpful, responsive, and informative. This was, hands down, one of the best customer service experiences I've had with a business. John clearly communicated the invoice and financial aspects while Peter walked me through the safety and structural components to my venting system and offered his recommendations. The work crew was timely and extremely courteous of my house and belongings and made sure to thoroughly clean up upon completion - they accomplished the entire job while I was at work for the day and, when I arrived home, it was so clean that it was as if no one had even been there.

Chimney Cricket was very responsive when we first called. The person who came to clean and inspect the chimney was very professional. I was very pleased at that point. They even came quickly to install the new liner. And since the air is much cleaner, I can only assume that they did an adequate job on this. However no one called as we requested to let us know that the technician was here so my husband could run home (they could access from garage), they left no paperwork to let us know what they did, our garage door handle broke off and they just left it there and made no mention of it to us. When later I called to ask for paperwork and a receipt I was told that they could not process my credit card for 2 weeks (which means that my credit card info would be sitting on someone's desk for 2 weeks). The bookkeeper also told me "There is only so much I can do" something that should be said to a boss, not a customer. After 2 weeks I had to call again and ask for the warranty and paperwork regarding this $1,700 liner. I finally received the warranty after 3 weeks. And during all this we called and asked to speak to the owner who never called us back. I actually think they do a good job but I want someone who is easier to deal with.

It went well. Positives: 1) Very responsive team: Peter, John, Phil all very customer-focused, professional and keen to answer questions. That's important because if you have the wrong types of repairs done in chimney then smoke or carbon monoxide can get into living space. 2) Very capable technicians: to a layman, the process of applying the cerfractory seems like lining your chimney with a thin layer of cement (it's not cement, but it looks like it). Phil, Dan, Brandon did a careful, thorough job, making sure that it was done correctly and showing me video afterward so I could also see the finished job. 3) Team was very careful and responsible: they took a great deal of care with tarps, scaffolding placement, etc. When by accident they broke a plastic furnace exhaust pipe, they took responsibility and replaced the pipe right away. 4) Very pleasant crew: Dan in particular is very good at "seeing things from customer's point of view". This is a very good thing. So overall I recommend Chimney Cricket very highly.

nice clean job and since my buck stove top plate could not be attached due to it being connected to the insert, I was left with a tube of heat resistant adhesive to attach the plate to the fireplace brick once I made some revisions to it. I use my fireplace 14 hours a day during the winter.

Chimney Cricket did an excellent and thorough job and was a pleasure to work with. The initial inspection revealed a nearly destroyed liner in our chimney. When they came out to replace it, the job was done quickly and with no mess left behind. I highly recommend Chimney Cricket.

I've had Chimney Cricket maintain my chimney since moving to the other coast and renting out my home, for the last few years. They've done annual sweeps as well as masonry work and adding a chimney liner. They're pleasant to deal with, reasonably-priced, and they do great work. I'd recommend to anyone.

Quick, clean and knowledgeable. After sweeping the chimney, the technician explained that my damper wasn't functionning properly. I didn't know it was stuck - the technician explained the problem and fixed it without any upcharge. It was a simple fix, but I would not have known there was a problem if he hadn't told me. Another chimney sweep did not offer to fix it some years earlier - nor mention that it was stuck.

Paid inspections seem to be a rip-off. We scheduled Chimney Cricket to diagnose leakage around our chimney, and they agreed to provide a $280 inspection which included sending a camera down the chimney. When the inspector arrived on site, he was unprepared to provide the full inspection, and he said the most people only need a lesser $180 inspection. He performed the lesser inspection, and provided a written diagnosis of the work needed to repair. When we tried to schedule the repair work, they refused to schedule the work, and tried to sell us another inspection. Evidently they did not trust their own inspection. Faced with the prospect of spending more money on inspections with NO repair work on the horizon, we contacted another mason.

They took on a challenging project that no other company would risk doing. The staff who did the installation were professional, friendly and knowledgeable throughout the process. The only problem we had is that they canceled on us once without contacting us, and the receptionist isn't always the easiest to deal with. Aside from a bit of disorganization and miscommunication, the service itself was excellent and we'd use them again.

Have used this provider for several years now. Professional - introduced himself and politely entered the home. Asked if we had any special issues/concerns. Got right to work. Punctual - arrived within given timeframe. Set up quickly. Clean--we have all white furniture and area rugs in our living room, and the fireplace is fairly close to everything. Technician used abundant drop cloths to protect our furniture and rugs in the area. Great service from this provider every time--I highly recommend.

We've used Chimney Cricket to clean our chimney over the years and have been happy with them. This was a much bigger job. They helped us choose a wood-burning fireplace insert and did a great job installing it, as well as the liner. They were very professional and responsive. They put down drop clothes and such, so they didn't leave any mess. We love having the insert, and it's working well.

We called chimney cricket for a chimney repair estimate on a home we in the process of purchasing. the chimney had a crack and the estimate they gave us was outrageous at over $10,000. Other estimates were below $3,000. In addition they charged us $180 just to come out and do an estimate because we "could use this information to benefit in the purchase of our home. " Shady.

We have always been happy with their work, their punctuality and professionalism. Just the other day I got a reminder call that it was time to have our chimney cleaned again which was very helpful. Made an appointment with them for next week

I call the provider for a business job, at a church. They did not respond after many calls and giving them the deminsions. When they said they would call the next day, I waited for2 days before calling them back. When they finally said they need to come and look at the job and charge us for just to come out. They should have told me that 2 weeks ago when I first called them. Another company came out, and we kept communicating on the phone, so I finally gave them the job.

We have lived in our house for over 30 years and the fireplace has always tended to release smoke into the house. During that time we have regularly had the fireplace cleaned and inspected. Last June, we had to have our smoke chamber re-lined. The man from Chimney Cricket told us that the chamber was badly designed and could not be made perfect, but that he thought he could do a bit of redesign by pulling out some badly placed bricks (I think) and that it should help with the smoking problem. Well, it is December and we have just started using our fireplace. The redesign has plainly helped enormously with the problem. I only wish we had called these guys 30 years ago! Anyway, this was the first time that anyone had suggested that a fix was possible so many, many thanks Chimney Cricket! Obviously these people really know their fireplace physics.

Inspection revealed that 10 years of hardwood fires left ~3/8" that needed removal. Took ~2 hours from start to finish. Laid out protective tarps & suited up with gear. Removed grate & damper. Used vacuum to collect what came down; used leaf blower to encourage upward draft; used electric drill with extensions to sweep & scrub the heavy creosote/soot. Heavy coating incurred extra charge ($140) which was reasonable. Recommended video inspection due to bend in flue which made complete inspection impractical. Recommended stucco repairs on external. Will schedule for after February to take advantage of off season discount. He was patient and knowlegable and answered all my questions clearly.

I got their name from Angie's list when I joined Angie's List this past December or January. Initially, I just called them to clean/sweep my chimney. Peter B., with the company, came out and thoroughly cleaned our fireplace chimney. He advised me that the mortar between the terracotta tiles that line the flu of our 60+ year old chimney had deteriorated to such a point that there were gaps between some of the tiles, exposing us to the potential of a house fire. While he gave me the initial estimate to restore/reline the chimney, I told him that I did not anticipate the amount or cost of the work that was going to be necessary to make our chimney safe to use. I advised him that I would need to get some other estimates. He graciously recommended an outfit close to our home in Yardley, PA that he thought would provide comparable service to Chimney Cricket. I had that company come out and perform a Level 2 inspection (photo documenting the condition of our chimney flu; Peter was right, our chimney was in bad condition), as well they provided an estimate for essentially the same work as Chimney Cricket. The process they were going to use was going to be messy and may end up reducing the current size of our existing fireplace flu; which could affect how well our flu draws the smoke up the chimney. After I looked over the two estimates and the two approaches to relining our chimney (i.e., remove all existing tiles and install stainless liner vs. clean existing tiles and coat and seal with a ceramic lining material that is the only product of its kind to meet UL standards), it was an easy call to make. Chimney Cricket's work saved us over $1,000 and a big mess, when compared to the other guys. Also, they were able to get the job scheduled three weeks sooner than the other company. In short, Chimney Cricket did a great job, were very courteous and professional, and when they were done, everything was nicely cleaned up. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs to have the kind of work I had done.
