Description of Work: There was a valve (shutoff type valve) leaking on the heater (which powers not only our heat, but our hot water). The company which services the heater said that it would cost $400 and 1/2 a day to replace. Bob and his crew replaced it in an hour for half the cost. Whenever I have any kind of plumbing issue, I call Bob. He's courteous, good at his job, prompt, neat, nice...all the things that you want in a contractor.

PHENOMENAL JOB!!! Bob is absolutely the BEST! I'll use a disclaimer here...Bob and I are next-door neighbors, but that wasn't in his favor at the beginning. I have a FIRM RULE to NOT work with my neighbors because I want to remain friendly with them. That said, over the years, Bob has had to 'save me' from various plumbing disasters - a cap that went down the drain, a leaking toilet, etc. Every time he entered my house, he treated it better than I treat it myself. He drapes tarps (clean ones) from the front door to wherever he's working. He cleans up remarkably well after himself. Anyway, after having had several experiences with Bob on 'smaller' stuff, he replaced a sink in a powder room (I wanted a pedestal sink in a powder room which sits on a concrete floor). Bob replaced the sink (chiseling up the floor to get the pipes seated where they needed to go) without complaint, cleanly, professionally and for a reasonable cost. So, when the time came to redo my main bath, I asked him to do it. He coordinated not only his part, but also the tile provider (Bob did the tile himself and did a tremendous job), electrician, carpenter, granite people. Bob treated absolutely professionally - even though we are over-the-fence friends. His demeanor with me was the same as it is with clients he doesn't know (I've heard him on the phone - he's always polite and gracious). He understands that having someone in your house is intrusive, and strives to make sure that he lets you know what to expect, when its going to happen, what he'll do, and the cooperation he'll need from you. For example, at some point during the remodeling, he needed to turn off the water to the entire house from the main. He consulted with me, and we found a day that was mutually acceptable. When I had an emergency dishwasher failure mid-bath remodel (doesn't everything always happen at once), Bob jumped right in and said "If you go to Sears and buys a new one, I'll install it for you when it gets here". That's just what he did. When he got to the basement, he labeled ALL of my pipes - not just the ones to the Main Bath in which he was working. He doesn't stop half-way. Bob runs through the finish line at full throttle, takes immense pride in his work (as well he should - I'm sure that the plumbing is 'pretty', but honestly, that's not the part that I care about - I just want it to work - and it DOES - PERFECTLY). His tile work is fabulous. He's creative, so if you get stuck along with way trying to make a decision, he'll help guide you on the pros and cons of one choice over the other. At the end, you'll be confident that you made the correct choices. Bob makes sure that you WILL be a reference for him in the future. So, our neighbor-ship relationship is preserved...in fact, it's stronger...because I would NEVER call another plumber again...and I liked the plumber that I used to use. They were prompt, polite, reliable, but they weren't Bob. Didn't have his personality or vision. He's great for those 'little items', as well...he knows that a leaking faucet can turn into a larger remodel down the road. I can't count the number of times he's come in for a 'quick fix' on this or that. He never says 'replace it' when a 'fix' will do. I don't hesitate to give him a hardy 'A+'. The only non-A I gave him - he's not the cheapest...I know that, but he's the best...so he has a right to get top dollar. He WILL NOT rip you off, but he is not bargain-basement, either. If you're shopping price, probably best to go elsewhere.
Description of Work: Complete redo of hall bath. I mean it was gutted (I mean down to the studs), and rebuilt. Floor joists had to be reinforced, plumbing lines completely replaced, electrical rerun, tile redone. Soup-to-nuts.

An excellent plumber and a really nice guy, very open to homeowner needs and ideas. The floor tiling work was a real bonus. Great with the dog, too.
Description of Work: Has done routine plumbing for us, plus was the foreman of a complete bathroom gut/renovation which is where the $15,000 came in. That included costs of the electrican and the building contractors, plus the redo of the upstairs bathroom plumbing, done by someone else, which leaked into the lower bathroom until it had to be completely gutted. Bob also did the floor tiling himself.
