Based on a recent experience, I would not recommend using their services. My father, a disabled veteran, was charged an excessive amount for repairs that would have been relatively inexpensive at a hardware store. The two parts replaced would have cost approximately $40.00. However, due to his disability and limited financial resources, my father relied on their services. The total cost has caused significant financial strain for my parents, who are living on a fixed income. I find it concerning that anyone would justify charging such high prices, especially to vulnerable individuals like disabled veterans. Therefore, I advise exploring alternative options to avoid similar financial difficulties.

I called Jeff Wilbur, after watching his advertisements on TV, thinking he was a customer friendly, veteran loving company. Imagine my surprise, I called to have 3 flapper replaced in my toilets, the parts at Lowes are about $9 each, the service tech gave me a quote of $92 each to replace the flappers, I had to pay a $65 service call fee, just to get that information. I'll never call Jeff Wilbur plumbing again.

Not so good. Greg arrived promptly with a helper that he was training. My master bath has a one piece fiberglass shower that was installed when we built the house in 1980. As Greg knelt in the shower he pointed out to me that there were bubbles in the fiberglass that he hadn't noticed the last time he was there. He explained that the shower stall was defective and would need to be replaced. He then cut a very large hole in the fiberglass wall so he could "tie off" the pipes and prevent my shower from dripping. Greg did a very nice, neat job with the pipes. Greg and the helper left with the understanding that he would provide me with a quote for the new shower stall. Even if I did not use Wilbur plumbing for the new shower install they would come back and install the shower faucet and sink faucet as agreed. At the time I was making these decisions I had been a widow for only 5 months so I was very inexperienced. I received a quote for the shower installation that was approximately $5000 with me supplying the tiles and other materials. At that point I contacted the contractor who remodeled our main bathroom. He came to the house and was furious when I explained what happened. According to this contractor, the shower stall was fine. Even if it wasn't fine a company like Bathfitters could have repaired the bubbles. Because the shower stall had a large gaping hole that could not be covered with a Remodel plate there was nothing I could do, but replace the shower stall. My contractor recommended that I contact Wilbur plumbing and ask them to return part of the "down" money they had been given because they had made it impossible for me to repair the existing shower. I also decided then that I didn't want Wilbur plumbing to complete the plumbing work described in the $1128.50 service agreement. My contractor was also furious that I had to give them money (beyond a $65 service charge) before any work was done. At this point I felt like a huge fool. However, right is right, and since I'm not loaded with money I called Wilbur plumbing. I was informed that they made two trips to my house (the first trip with one technician and the second trip with two technicians) so I probably owed them even more money due to the hours involved. I asked to speak with a supervisor. No one was available at that time and I never received a return phone call. I was surprised at the self righteous tone of their employee...as if I were crazy for requesting a partial refund. Here's the kicker folks....I'm an Industrial Engineer so I'm familiar with setting work standards and establishing prices. I had no idea that I was charged 2 hours for the first service call. Honestly, 30 minutes was service time and the other 90 minutes was chat time with Greg regarding his cousin and the Susquehanna Ski Club, financial investing, retirement, my husband's recent death and so on. If I knew I was "on the clock" Greg would have been in and out of my house in the absolute minimum of time. I have warned all of my fellow widows to stay away from Wilbur plumbing. Since that time I have found another plumber who is friendly and knowledgeable. Beyond that, this plumber is affordable and trustworthy. I would NEVER RECOMMEND Wilbur plumbing. It's a $564.25 "lesson-learned" that I will never forget.
Description of Work: I called Jeffrey A. Wilbur Plumbing because I thought they were a reputable company. Their technician, Greg, arrived promptly at my home and was friendly, knowledgeable, and won my trust. I had called Wilbur plumbing because my master bath Delta shower faucet was dripping. I tried to make the repairs myself, but I could not take the valve apart. I decided that if I needed to have a new shower faucet installed then I would purchase the matching sink faucet and have Greg install both faucets. I purchased all materials for the job. The quote for their labor was $1,128.50 with the agreement that I would pay $564.25 that day and the remainder at completion.

I asked for a hot water heater to be installed. They came and worked me up a price - $1,900, less $99 for my coupon or $1,801 for a cheap hot water heater that is available at Home Depot for $432.00. This would mean the labor rate was $500 / hr. The tech informed me that it would take 3 hrs. max to do the job. I declined and was charged $65 for the estimate. This was not disclosed to me when I made the appointment or prior to performing the estimate. I called the office to speak with a manager and never received a return call.
Description of Work: The service provided did nothing. They charged me to tell me that what I already knew - I needed a hot water heater.

We do respectfully disagree with the claims this member has made. This gentleman was not even home at the time of our visit. [member name removed] was very nice and explained that she had been living without hot water for nearly 4 weeks! We did some inspecttion work to confirm that the [member name removed] water heater was in need of replacement and it was. We have several models of water heaters all ranging in price and efficiencies. [member name removed] indicated nothing with any bells or whistles. We presented our standard water heater pricing including the required expansion tank and all necessary vent piping, gas piping alterations and connection of the hot and cold water lines with new shut-off valves and hauling the old one away as we always do. [member name removed] then contacted [member name removed] by phone to get his approval and he blew up about the installed price. He did speak to our Customer representative about not being happy with pricing and the Trip fee we charge. We refused to reimburse the trip fee. It was explained up front when the call was booked and is reasonable to get a licensed professional to your door with a water heater and the material to complete your job right then and there. [member name removed] did not hesitate or question the trip fee. Comparing an inferior water heater from a box store without sales tax to our Professional grade water heater, installed with everything I mentioned earlier is unreasonable at best. We wish [member name removed] luck in having her hot water restored in the near future.

They came out and installed a pump it didn't work. They came out and installed another pump it didn't work. They installed the sink and put the first pump back in. Then another person came out and told me I had a black sewer line may be due to trees and wanted to run a $300 scope to investigate. After the fourth time I gave up and never use them again. My new plumber told me it was installed wrong.
Description of Work: I called them to install a pump and a sink that would get the water from the washing machine to The sewer.

[member name removed], My apologies for our unsatisfactory performance. This is the first I heard about this. I see that this happened 4 years ago. I wish I had heard from you sooner while everything was current and all involved could be questioned. I'm not sure that this employee might not even be with us anymore. Regardless I regret that your job went this way and I would welcome the opportunity to make things right. Please contact us at our office when you have time for a phone conversation to bring me up to speed.

The cost was ridiculous for the amount of work that was required.
Description of Work: I had a clog in the outgoing sewer pipe leaving my house. They used my plunger and cleared it from the basement drain location. They were not in the house any more than 30 minutes or so. I had hoped since it required very little "expert" service from them that the bill would be much more reasonable.

See paragraph above. The person providing the estimate was prompt, courteous and efficient, but that's about all I can good about the experience.
Description of Work: Services were not performed, as the estimate was outrageously high. I asked for an estimate to relocate a sink from a laundry room to the garage. The three bids ranged from $850 to $2,400+, and Wilbut Plumbing submitted the $2,400 bid, even though two competitiors' bid $850 and $1,000. We selected Zimmerman Plumbing to handle the work for the $1,000 bid. It was a good decision. I assume Wilbur did not need the work, since they gave me what amounted to a throw-away bid.

Every part of working with Jeff Wilbur was excellent. I was very pleased with the initial phone consultation, the work, timeliness and price of the job.
Description of Work: Jeffrey Wilbur was recommended to me by a neighbor. After American Water increased the water pressure in our region we started to hear noises from our pipes (clanging, banging, etc.) We also had just bought a new water and when the water started to go into the tub or when the watch shut off the water it made quite a racket. I discussed the problem with Jeff and he described a number of causes for the problem but was pretty sure it was caused by the increased water pressure. His son came over on the day and time we agreed upon, he checked all the piping then checked the pressure. He determined it was excessive water pressure causing our noise problem. Within 30 minutes he installed a pressure valve, tested our pipes and all was (and still is) quiet.

They put in two systems for me, and we have been using them for 11 years. They never fail to be prompt, courteous, and excellent. Most recently, my motor blew out the whole airconditioning system during the heat wave. Jeff Wilbur, stopped work on a commercial job, drove to the distributer to pick up the materials, and came back the next day to put in the unit. This is the nicest thing a service provider has ever done. I really appreciate what he did. They have done terrific things. Also, the quotes that he gives for jobs are very accurate with no additional charges after the work is completed.

Wilbur had done a job for me about two years ago. His charge had been reasonable. This time, before starting the job, his plumber presented a form showing a Service Fee of $59.00 for coming to the house, which I found acceptable. Also on the form was a list of 10 different price categories, each category showing the jobs applying to that category. He checked off a category with a charge of $199.00, with the item checked off .50-1.0" valve, while at the bottom of the form was hand printed: "Replace 3/8" angle stop". I questioned him about the price but he said that it was correct. Rather than argue, I figured that I could straighten it out later with the owner. I signed the form authorizing him to do the job. Unfortunately, when I did call the owner, Jeff Wilbur, he insisted that the charge of $258.00 was right. I pointed out that for less than 1/2 hours work, $199.00 equated to almost $400.00 per hour (the valve cost $6.53). He refused to budge, and I blew my top.
Description of Work: Wilbur sent a plumber to repair a small leak in the cold water shutoff valve under a bathroom sink. I shut the water off at the main, the plumber removed the 3/8" angle stop and replaced it with a new one. I turned the main shutoff back on. There was no leak. The plumber was in our house a total of about 25 minutes.
