 + -1 moreDon worked us in before the May date, which we really appreciated. He and his worker arrived on time and began removing the old sidewalk. They were efficient and friendly. After removing the sidewalk, they raked the area. added gravel and put down wood forms. The concrete was poured two days later. Because of inclement weather, the work was finished the next day. Don also sealed where the sidewalk and driveway met to keep out rain water. Don and Bob were very professional and communicative, cleaning up the entire area and even putting back the mulch. The sidewalk looked beautiful, and we are very pleased with the work that was done. We will definitely use Express Concrete for future projects. Thank you Don and Bob!!

 + -1 moreIt's not what this business has done, it's what they didn't do and that is to return my initial phone call. Obviously the owner doesn't need the business all that much. I called during the week of March 7 and today is March 22 and still no returned call. I already found someone else to do the work, therefore hopefully this owner won't waste my time and call me a month later. I am not really sure how one can be on Angie's List if the business cannot even return a phone call.

 + 0 moreI was extremely impressed by Express Concrete from start to finish. We had just asked for stamped concrete, and as he came to the house, he was able to transform our idea into a nicer one. He takes pride in his work and it shows. Every step of the way he would let us know what he was doing and making sure we were happy with the progress. He was timely, responsive, and professional. I highly recommend him and am looking forward to future projects where I could use his services. I don't think you will find a better person to trust with a project for your home.
Description of Work: Don poured about 1,300 sq. ft. of stamped concrete under our deck and around the side of our house to our walk out basement. He also extended our driveway about 300 sq. ft.

 + -1 moreStop looking and book this amazing contractor, Don Bridy. Get on his schedule, if you can! Don is a true professional, concrete artist! From the first meeting, when he came to see the project to the last day he was on site, he was friendly, knowledgeable, prompt, and a perfectionist. He and his crew are hard workers and their attention to detail is outstanding! Our driveway, walkway and porch were new in 1961. When Don got his hands on them, they were all cracked, lifted and barely functional. The porch was falling away from the house. He transformed an ugly eyesore into a beautiful finished porch, walkway and double car driveway. When we need concrete work again, he will be the one we call. Seriously, call him before you are ready because he is booked solid!!
Description of Work: Removed old ugly concrete (covered in blacktop) double car driveway, sidewalks, walkway and porch. Replaced it with a minimum 4 inch stone base, crushed stone and then high psi concrete. He re-barred the porch and driveway into the home foundation.

 + -1 moreFrom my initial meeting with Don Bridy when he sized up the project and pvoided me with a verbal estimate (followed by a written contract) until the end of the project Don was professional, punctional, communicative, and very particular with his work. He and his co-worker Dave did an outstanding job with replacing the pad at the front door of the house and replacing the sidewalk. Both worked very hard and diligently, paying close attention to every detail thoughout the entire process. After removing the forms to the pad and sidewalk Don and Dave even troweled the sides of the new concrete. At the time Don provided me with a verbal estimate, he discussed a few things he would do if awarded the job. Everything Don mentioned to me verbally was put into the written contact and done. These folks obviously take great pride in their work and I would recommend them to anyone needing high quality concrete work done by people who care. Thank you Don and Dave for a job well done.
Description of Work: Provider removed old concrete pad and sidewalk in front of house and replaced with a new concrete pad and sidewalk. In the process they also raised the pad and sidewalk by 4" and moved the sidewalk about 8" further from the house.

 + -1 moreDon at Express Concrete was prompt to respond to our request for a quote to replace our concrete driveway (51'x16') and on-time for the appointment. The work was scheduled in a timely manner (within 2 weeks) and was completed as promptly as permitted by a rainy July. We really appreciated how Don was very careful to schedule the pouring only when there was a rain-free window. The completed work more than met our expectations and has greatly improved the appearance of our home. The original driveway had been poured with no rock base and had subsided (needed a "ramp" into the garage) and had many cracks. They excavated and added/compacted a minimum of 4" of 2 B stone and used rebar to attach the new driveway to our garage and porch. They used control joints, sealed the driveway and hauled the old concrete away. Don and his co-workers seem to us to be very proud of their work and they went above and beyond in taking care and providing service. For example, our mailbox was blocked during the pouring and Don took the mailman our mail and picked up our mail for us! They also brought in our garbage cans on collection day.

When we requested a delay because we needed to make an out-of-town trip, he agreed to begin work at a later date. All the work was done in a professional manner.  + -1 moreDon Bridy of Express Concrete was a thorough professional, listening to the specific details of how I wanted it constructed and adding suggestions from his years of experience, while giving me the options of deciding the exact specifications for the project. His work was very neat (not disturbing more lawn than was absolutely necessary), quality construction (using expansion strips and re-enforcing rods drilled into adjacent concrete to prevent settlement, etc.), timely (excepting only unavoidable weather delays) and very fairly priced.
Description of Work: Constructed approximately 650 square feet concrete extension of drive and concrete pad for parking motor home alongside garage and underground drainage pipes from two downspouts.

 + -1 moreBecause he does the work himself, he is a little difficult to initially get a hold of. But in his voice mail he tells you that up front. I got a call back in one day. He came out and viewed the potential project and discussed various options that I had but recommended replacing the front stoop and all the sidewalk. I did not feel pressured into selecting the total replacement of my stoop and sidewalk but it seemed to me to be the best option in view of the condition of my existing sidewalk and stoop. He showed up at the time and day he specified he would be there. It was a two day job. He answered any question that I had about the job. He finished the job when he said he would. I am more than pleased with the job. I would hire him in second if I had any other concrete jobs. He and his crew were professional, diligent, and paid attention to detail. The price was excellent. If you have a concrete job and want it done right and on time, then hire Express Concrete.
Description of Work: Removal of existing walkway and front stoop. Installed new sidewalk(approx. 12') and front stoop(approx. 5' by 5'.). Hauled away all materials. Put in stone base. Added rebar on front stoop. Cure seal used. 4000 psi concrete.

 + -1 moreDon showed up promptly for scheduled estimate. He provided a non-detailed estimate until I agreed to have him do the job then I received a contract and detailed estimate in the mail. I was a bit hesitant because as they say, 'the devil's in the details'. But I went with my gut as Don was very easy to talk to and share my concerns with and I'm glad I did. He answered all of my questions and concerns during the project as well. He is a true master of his craft as is conscious of the details. Each day, he was insistent on cleaning up his work area and keeping things tidy. I had a bet with my hubby that I could see this job through from beginning to end on my own and he was quite impressed! The only concern he has is with the access to water entering the expansion during the winter months, freezing and causing problems. We will be getting expansion caulk and sealing it ourselves. We love our new carport & breezeway and look forward to coming back in a few years to comment on how it has held up. We are excited for Don to come and install the new column. We would definitely recommend Express Concrete to our family and friends and would contract with them again. Thanks Don & guys! :)

Don told me when I first contacted him that he was busy and that he may not be able to get to it until August. But he called last week and told my wife that they would be here at the end of the week and get started. When they arrived Friday, he explained what they were going to do and went right to work. I couldn't recommend Express concrete any more highly. In the future, anytime that I need concrete work done, I will be calling Don.

 + -1 moreWe had a great experience getting the new sidewalks and driveway! Don is very knowledgeable and explains everything that will be happening in the days ahead. We had weather that didn't want to cooperate throughout the time he had set aside, but he worked around it and it is completed. He started on the start day he said in the proposal and finished close to that day as well. He had the help of one guy for the sidewalks, and 2 more for the driveway and the work was done quickly and efficiently. Since we widened the old sidewalks, we'll have some new landscaping to do, but after they left everything everything looked great!

 + -1 moreDon was so professional and knowledgeable. When he came to give the estimate we explained what the goal was and he explained in exact detail how to get the best results. We received the estimate within a week detailing every single item we agreed upon. He explained his schedule was filling up and was able to accommodate the date we wanted the work done. His schedule was about a month out and that was perfect for us. He was extremely meticulous and communicated with us during the entire 4 day process. He stayed on schedule, even accounted for any rain and we had rain one day. He was always prompt and friendly. The work has started to cure and it is just amazing. We could not be happier. We are getting compliments on the project and its has not finished curing. I had two friends already request his contact information. It took us a year to settle on a company to choose for this job as it is the entranceway to our home. We asked everyone we knew for referrals and no one that had concrete work completed was extremely satisfied, that is why we turned to Angie's List for the first time. Don's reviews for his work were undeniable. We were comfortable with his detailed explanation and him as a person from the first day we met him. We highly recommend Don and already had him quote another job for the fall.
Description of Work: Don had to remove a concrete porch (43 x 5 feet), a sidewalk (16 x 3 feet) and a small pad/step. He replaced all of the previous and we expanded the sidewalk to 4 feet 3 inches. ***We requested to enlarge the sidewalk an additional 3 inches during the project and Don took it in stride.

 + -1 moreDon did an exceptional job all around. He was prompt, courteous, and took the time to explain my options along with his recommendation. All concrete is not the same, and Don's years of experience and attention to detail were key to me selecting him for the job. It was quickly evident he and his crew took great pride in their work, making sure the job was done right the first time. As portions of the old concrete driveway were removed, Don explained why it sank in the first place (too much concrete poured in certain areas was too much for the ground to handle). Don and his team completed the job in 2 days, well ahead of schedule and at a very competitive price. In addition, Express concrete is a local small business and Don is an Army Veteran, just two more reasons I felt I made the right selection. I would not hesitate to use Express Concrete again in the future. A+ all around.

 + 0 moreI joined Angies list to find a decent concreete contractor after having a nightmare of a time with someone I found on Craigs list. I had called Express because of all the positive reviews. Don returned my call right away and we discussed what i wanted done and the location i am in (about 45 minutes from him). He was very knowledgeable abpit what he does and gave me a rough idea of what i would be looking at price wise. I decided to call him and have him come to my house for the official estimate. He came out on a Sunday (which he said he usually does not do) and met with me. We went over all the details for about 30 minutes. He left me color charts and samples and said he would get back to me with a price. At no time did he say it was to small of a job or to far to travel. I waited until the next Saturday and called him, got his voicemail and left a message asking if he had a chance to get any numbers toether and when he did he could call or email me. That was over a month ago never heard from him again. I don't really care that he dose not want to do the job but it would have been nice if he would have let me know so I could find a contractor.

 + -1 moreI really don't need to say much here. The project went great. Don and two of his employees handled the job and the finished project went beyond my expectations. Don takes pride in the work he does and it shows. They were very thorough in their clean up and and made sure any landscaping that was disturbed was returned to where it was before they began their work. I have a limited amount of potential work that would be need in the future, but regardless of what my next project might be, if it involves concrete is going to be my sole source. One other thing, there was a strip along my front door that needed caulking and Don called me the next day to advise me that it was missed, he apologized for it and he returned that day to put down a strip of caulk maybe 36" wide. I have had similar situations in the past where the phone call was to tell me that the caulking was missed and where I could purchase the material and finish the job myself. Not Don. That's why he is so busy, he takes care of his customers. I would and will recommend Don to anyone who asks me who did the work.
Description of Work: When I first contacted Don, I left a message on his phone and he returned my call promptly and was up front with me about his work load and that he would get back to me within a few days to schedule a time to look at my project. He came when he said he would and gave me an estimate on the spot Again he was up front and informed me that his work load was such that in all likely hood it might be July before he could begin the job, which I was fine with (I had been putting up with a cracked front walk and drooping stoop for several years and the delay was not an issue. I did not give Don the go ahead immediately, but did call him within five minutes of his leaving my home and told him to write up the contract. To my surprise, Don called me on the following Sunday and because of a couple of other jobs in my area he felt with my ok he could start the upcoming week and kept me abreast of what had to do with his other projects and approximately what time he could be at my home to begin. He was at my home when he said he would be and started the project. Understand my project was not a huge job, but he took the time to get at it quickly and got it done. Going back to the Sunday phone call, he apologized for call me on a Sunday, but he wanted to get in touch with me as soon as possible. I really appreciated his professionalism and courtesy.

The pour was done in a low area so soft ground was a problem. As I said, Don knows his job. I would recommend him to anyone needing concrete work.

 + -1 moreI'm not sure what went wrong here, except to speculate that Don reconsidered the job and decided he did not want to do the project or could not fit it in his schedule. Either situation would be perfectly reasonable, except for the fact that he will not return the calls of a customer. To me, it's a huge red flag that a contractor would simply change his mind about a project without any communication to his customer. Not only is it unprofessional, but it's really bad business. I will never consider him again for any job, and I will share my experience with any friends and family that would ever be interested in concrete services.
Description of Work: I initially contacted Don on Sunday, March 30 and left a message regarding work I was interested in him doing. He promptly returned me back the next day and scheduled a time to visit my home to view the proposed work. He provided me a quote on-site, provided me some brochures regarding the stamping product he uses, and we discussed the process for confirming/scheduling the work. Several days later, on Sunday, April 6, I called Don and informed him that I would like to schedule the work with him. We agreed on a start date of April 28 and he told me he would prepare a contract spelling out the project, costs, start date, and several other pieces of information. That was the last I heard from him. After not receiving the contract or any other communication from Don, I called three times, several days apart, leaving polite messages that I was trying to confim our project start date and making sure that the contract was not lost in the mail. Don simply will not return the calls. During this time, Don apparently finds the time to post updates to his company's facebook account, as I've seen quite a few.

 + -1 moreContractor came out and discussed job and gave me price on the spot. He scheduled work for following week and showed up ready to go on day scheduled. Jack hammered out old concrete and processed area as discussed. Took out walk area and dug out under it as it had been poured over dirt. Added 4 inches of stone under it and formed. Proceeded to put in rebar ties from torn out area at garage door to existing garage floor concrete to avoid any freeze lift. Formed this area and was ready to pour by 2:00pm. Concrete truck showed up and areas were poured. By 6:00pm they had finished and put up barricades. Area was cleaned up and debris was removed all in one day. Fantastic job and I say that with some advanced knowledge as I am a retired contractor myself with over 40 years in the building industry. Into my 70s I did not want to do this myself so I hired Don Bridy owner of Express Concrete off Angies List because of the excellent reviews listed for him. He is the real deal and I would hire him again in a minute. His work ethic is first class and the finish product met my expectations.
Description of Work: Tear out section of old concrete in front of garage door area (5'x16') and also take out (4'x16') section of front walk area at driveway area.
