Very satisfied with the fabrication and how nice the countertop looks.

The sales presentation given by Heather was excellent. She expertly discussed the various types of countertops from formica to synthetic stone to natural stone. We settled on granite and were impressed with the wide selection of colors and patterns offered. We made our selection, paid the down payment and scheduled the laser templateer and installation. Todd arrived as agreed with his laser/digital equipment and completed the measurement within 30 minutes. A week later, on our schedule, the installers, Preston and Jeff, arrived to complete the project. Then along came Murphy's Law to complicate matters. Two of the major pieces needed to perfectly match up so the seam is almost invisible. Try as they will, Preston and Jeff could not make the pieces mate up. The problem was a defect in the stone that was not discovered, or could not be identified, until installation. Needless to say we were upset. They ordered a new piece, cleaned up and left. It was 2:00 PM on a Friday. By 4:00 PM Heather contacted us to say that the new countertop piece would be fabricated over the weekend and installed on Monday between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM. Preston and Jeff arrived to complete the job at 3:00 PM. Sometimes things go wrong. In this case the granite stone used for the first piece was too porous for the vacuum alignment machine to pull the stone together. To their credit, Preston and Jeff did not try to complete the job by using a quantity of filler and effort to polish out the defect. They called it right and fixed it properly. In our opinion the true measure of a company's integrity is not measured by a problem but rather how that problem is resolved. In this case Down East Fabricators showed excellence in their attention to detail.

The showroom staff were very helpful and the product selection was excellent. The templater showed up on time and was quick and efficient. But once the install took place the wheels fell off the operation. The plumber never showed up (I should mention that DE hired and communicated directly with the plumber). When he was an hour overdue we called DE and they said, "oh didn't anyone tell you? He can't come until later today!" DE rescheduled the appointment for two days later and said the plumber and the installation person would come at the same time to finish the rest of the job which, at that point, just involved installing the backsplash. The plumber showed up on time and called in advance to say he was on the way. But the DE person was a no show. Again, we had to call DE and they said, "oh, he can get there in an hour". Now perhaps in the fantasy land in which these people live, no one works and everyone can sit at home all day waiting for a workman to show up. But that's not how it works in my world. If you say you are coming between 7:30 and 8:30 that doesn't mean 10:00. At this point we've taken time off from work on 4 separate days just to get this tiny job handled. Meanwhile I've paid the bill in full and have yet to see a finished product. I am a repeat customer with DE. I used them for a much larger project three years ago and had no issues. Based on this experience I'll never use them again. It's just not worth the hassle.

From start to finish we found the staff at Down East to be helpful, professional and knowledgable. The process of selecting our countertops was a pleasure, the measurements and template done accurately, the installation well done, and our request for a small repair responded to promptly. The end result is beautiful. We did not shop around a great deal because I wanted the job done right, so I cannot comment about the pricing.

We are quite pleased with the quality of product and workmanship. The workmen were friendly and punctual. We felt it was a good price for the work.

I thought the estimate was a little bit high. However, they were a great company.

We were happy with the work they did. They were professional. We have been very thrilled with the result. We would definitely use Down East Fabrication Inc Company again in the future.

We went to Down East and other home improvement stores for estimates on our counters. We really thought that Down East would be out of our league, but surprisingly their quote was no more than $100 off of either of the other two. PLUS, the installation wait time was much less. I'm talking weeks less. I also liked the fact that they didn't try to up-sell us to granite. We realized that our countertop space was small and it too was an affordable option, but we just didn't want to invest the extra money in a starter home. Also, we preserved our old metal cabinets and were half afraid the granite would be too heavy. We got a deal that the sink was free. That's always nice.

Service was excellent. Sales showroom had hundreds of granite sheets to choose from. Also has more varieties available at providers showroom, but we didn't need to go any further. From the time we had measurements taken, ordered and installed, everything went smoothly and professionally. We love the countertops and highly recommend this company.
