Description of Work: We used Buchanan & Erb to put in a new hot water heater and an air conditioner.

Description of Work: Initially, I contacted Buchanan & Erb to have an Aprilaire air cleaner added to my HVAC system. I did my research and decided that I wanted Aprilaire, found out that this company was a distributer, and they were recommended by my neighbor since I am new to the area. The office people were very nice and got someone out to take a look and give an estimate within a couple days. When I agreed that I wanted the system installed, the office was able to get someone out to do the work in like 4 or 5 days, I think. Two guys, one named Jon, showed up on time, were very nice, and even put little booties over their boots so as not to track in dirt. Jon was very thorough. He checked out my HVAC system before doing anything, kindly answered all of my questions, and let me tell you, he knew what he was talking about. Jon and his assistant performed there work efficiently and without incident. Given that I had only been in my townhouse for a couple months, I asked him during the estimate visit about my sump pump. Because there was a hole in the basement floor with a cover, an electrical junction (but not an outlet), and pvc piping leading out to the back yard, I naively thought that there was a sump pump in there. Jon informed me that there was not, but it was nicely set up to easily drop one in and convert the electrical line to an out let. So after installing the Aprilaire system with a humidifier, they put in the sump pump and a plug to plug it in. I think the charge for the sump pump work was about $300.00. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure I had all of the necessary documents. Then before they left, I asked Jon 1 last question. I was concerned about my tankless hot water heater because it had gone off and had to be reset to get hot water. Without my asking, he took down the model and serial numbers and said that even though it wasn't the brand that they used, he would look into it. Long story short, he tolerated many annoying phone calls with the company, we got a new motherboard Fedexed to the house and he made another trip out and installed it after cleaning the water heater. I paid $185 for that and the hot water company paid him the rest. That's pretty much the whole story and I was pleased. I'm just glad I didn't have to tolerate those phone calls!

Description of Work: I have entered arbitrary dates and amounts in the fields above because they are required fields. I frankly do not recall exactly when I last used the services of this company, or the amount of the bill when I did. While I have not used this company's services recently, I have used them in the past for a variety of heating and air conditioning services and was always pleased with their responsiveness, competency, and courtesy. The last service they performed for me was the installation of a new air conditioner. Those I have dealt with in their office and at my home have always seemed to be honest, down to earth, hard working people who want to do a good job at a fair price. I would not hesitate to use them again and would not hesitate to recommend the company to a friend.
