Now good. On a Friday he set me up for install on that following Wed. He said I would receive a call me Mon or Tues. No call came so on Tuesday called sales rep and he said he forgot to put me on the schedule. I was upset so they finally did get the next day for me. I was told would be there at 8:30 didn't show up until 9:10. The workers were very nice and my basement is dry but the sump pump hasn't pumped water since it was installed a myth ago. I didn't need the system they sold me. Could've used something different and cheaper. Also had to fight to get the outside drain. To be extended be you my house like I was told. Sales rep very rude. Will never use them for anything again

It is true that your job moved. We are one the few companies that give exact dates. Most contractors say things like "next week" or other nebulous phrases. We try not to do that and give exact dates. We are certainly not perfect all the time. In your case we were not able to make the date and for that I apologize. In light of this we gave the outside drain at no cost as you mentioned above. In our defense there was no "fight." As shown above we will admit when we do wrong. As stated herein, we will also defend against what we feel is mischaracterization. As far as the inspector being rude, all I can say is this...he stated he was always civil with you. Moreover, he has never had such a complaint levied against him such as this.
Once again Keystone has come through for me. I had hired them last January and they did an excellent job so I hired them again for some additional work that I needed done. Different crew from the first time but the same outstanding results. On time, thorough, and proficient. Cleaned up after the job was finished so that you could hardly tell they had been there. Not the cheapest company out there but you get what you pay for and I would recommend them to anyone and I will hire them again if I need any additional work done. You can't go wrong with Keystone.

[Member Name Removed], thank you for the kind words and the thoughtful review. We work hard to deliver a great product and satisfaction to our clients. "Great Service" is a combination of well-skilled and thoughtful employees and quality materials. Both of these are not possible unless the company pays a higher wage to attract and keep people who care and pays a bit more for the good products rather than the cheap ones that break down. This makes our price a bit higher than some. In the end we are not the cheapest company because we don't want to manufacture inferiority. When in need of a specialized service we believe people are better off when they seek the "best value" for their money rather than "the cheapest." What good is the cheapest? Do we buy the cheapest car for our loved ones? Usually not, because we don't want them to be stranded on a dark road one night. Do we look for the cheapest doctor to help when we are in trouble? No, in fact we look for the best doctor and the cost is secondary. Now I completely admit the above analogies are not completely congruent, but they are not that far off either. For many people their home is their biggest asset and the equity in that home comprises of more than 50% of their wealth. When you consider the fact that foundation damage is only behind fire and flood damage, in terms of negative impact to the fair market value of your home, you begin to understand the essential need for quality foundation repairs. In 2013 we tracked how many of our installations where repairing past attempts to remedy a foundation issue. We also tracked how many situations the homeowner experienced catastrophic loss, which occurs when the repair costs exceed 50% or more of the value of the house. 32% of our installations were in situations where a prior attempt failed. Thus a "cheaper" or "incorrect" system was selected and the owner had to pay for the work twice and at much greater costs. 4% of the appointments we visited the repair cost exceeded 50% the value of the home and thus was not viable. In both examples the selection of a cheaper or incorrect solution cost the homeowner much more money in the long term. This is why we are bit more money. Thank you so very much for your business. Sincerely, Aaron Stull, President

I had Keystone install roughly 100 feet of French drain and a sump pump in my basement. Brian McWhirter was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions and concerns during my initial consultation/inspection. Jay's crew was friendly, timely, and extremely efficient in completing the job in under 2 days. And they took extreme care in keeping and leaving my house clean of dust and debris. The installed system has worked effectively in keeping water out of my basement thus far through some pretty heavy summer storms. I would definitely recommend Keystone for your waterproofing needs.

As a Realtor, I've met with and connected clients to Keystone Basement Systems on several occasions; their technicians were always great to deal with, honest and responsive. Our family recently purchased a home in desperate need of several internal french drain systems and sump pumps. This summer has been extremely rainy and we found ourselves squeegying water on a regular basis. One quick call to Keystone and within two weeks, we had three drains installed, a pump and a completed, dry basement ready for us to use and enjoy. Brian M. was our consultant and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with and extremely personable and proactive in getting his crew scheduled. Tony and his team of professional laborers were polite, clean and efficient when at our home. Barely any dust from the jackhammer and everything cleaned up prior to the job being completed. SUCH a huge relief knowing the basement is dry, our articles are protected and the value of our home secured and even increased because of the assurance their system and warranty provides. Thank you!

The team that was sent was quick and efficient. My kitchen floor was sloping right under the refrigerator. The Keystone inspector found that a joint in the basement was cracked and the post right under it needed replaced. They had it corrected in just about 2 days. I am very happy with the final result and how we were treated during the entire process.

GREAT! I was very nervous, but they were patient, professional and top notch. From the initial inspection by Dan to the completion of work by Tony and his crew, everything went well. Tony and his crew arrived on time, and left my (very old dirty) basement in better shape than when they arrived. I have some water issues and I would definitely hire them again to make repairs.
Description of Work: My house is 100+ and the floors were sagging. During the initial inspection we determined the problem was there wasn't a center beam only joists holding up the house and after 100+ years they were getting weak. Keystone installed three steel beams and 6 jack posts in my basement.

Nothing went according to plan. Even the day in which the work was completed. What was told would occur by inspector Brian changed when the foreman came to do the work. Very disappointing. Basement was never sprayed for black mold. (If it was, it certainly looked the same & didn't work) . Price was expensive for what was completed. Don't think my hot water tank was ever moved, however I was charged for it. Service was unknowledgable when it came to borough limits in respect to burying drainage system in yard. Overall would not recommend, buyer beware.

The project was led by Foreman, Tony and his crew of Charles and Mike. They were all very professional, hardworking and knowledgeable in their various parts of the project. They arrived both mornings on time as promised. Tony was very helpful in answering my many questions. They finished the project sooner than was quoted and did an excellent job. They cleaned up the area before leaving and I would definitely use this Company and especially this crew, if a need arises again.

I reached out to several companies for estimates. Keystone was the best in terms of price and getting the work done in a timely manor. Two representatives came to my house in the evening after work and wrote up an estimate for me. Victoria scheduled and organized the work and was great to deal with. Mark and Josh came by to do the work, they did a great job and were done within a few hours. I would 100% call Keystone again if I required these types of services in the future.

We attend the Nari Home Improvement Show. We set up two appointments with two different vendors. Keystone had someone call me the week of the appointment to confirm. They also had someone call me the day before the appointment to make sure nothing had changed. I appreciate communication so this was a plus for them. Mike came out and answered our questions. He presented us with a quote. He explained the how's and why's of what he proposed to do. We told him we had other companies coming out but would let him know. We had the second company come out and quote too. We told company 2 we wanted to think about our options. Both companies offered the carbon fiber straps. Both had similar ways to apply and anchor the straps. Both suggested the same number of straps. Both had similar time frames available. Both companies called back to ask if we had made a decision. I said no, we hadn't yet but we didn't feel we had to make a quick decision. Keystone called me two weeks later and asked if we were available to have a supervisor come out and re-evaluate the job and see if there is another option that might save us money. (I told them straight away that they were significantly higher than the other company.) At this point, I am thinking that they should have come in with their lowest bid right away. But, I figured I'd give them another chance since I checked them out with the BBB and online reviews. We met with Brian and he looked at the quote prepared by Mike. He spent time talking to us about the project and the extent of the work we wanted. Brian really stressed to us that customer service is first priority with Keystone. The company is trying to break into the Cleveland market. (They're from Pittsburgh.) Brian re-worked the quote and was able to shave off a few dollars. I think either company would have been fine for us to contract to do our job - if dollars were exactly the same. But, Keystone ties their fiber carbon straps (Rhino) into the sill plate of the house and anchors it with a 45 degree anchor into the footer, filling the anchor hole with epoxy. Company 2 drilled their carbon fiber straps into the floor joist...I don't remember how they anchored the bottom of the strap. It makes more sense with our house (and probably with others, too) to drill into the sill plate - not the floor joist. For this reason, we decided to go ahead with Keystone. Today the crew came out to install our Rhino straps. Mark and Josh arrived on time. They setup their work area (5' out from the wall) with clear poly sheeting to minimize the dust from grinding. They point filled all of the cracks. They were professional and friendly. They focused on their job without a lot of wasted time. But, I still felt that when we'd ask a question, they would take the time to answer the question completely. I did not feel as if I was 'bugging' them. They did a nice job without drama. I appreciate that. Keystone stands behind their work with a lifetime warranty against further inward deflection. (Company 2 had a 25 yr warranty.) Both offered warranty to be transferable when we sell our home. I am very please with the professionalism of employees of Keystone. I am so glad I had them back to re-evaluate the job. (In talking to both companies, we were better focused on exactly what we wanted done.) I believe that we made the correct decision in going with Keystone. And, just to make sure you didn't gloss over it - I will re-state that Mark and Josh did a great job getting the task done- quick and clean- and friendly while still being focused on the task at hand. I would highly recommend you request them for your job if you go with Keystone.
Description of Work: Our basement is not finished. Our house is approx. 20 yrs old. We had one wall in our basement with a horizontal crack going across the wall. The crack wasn't very wide - you could fit a piece of paper in it but not a dime. The wall had shifted in a slight bit - maybe about 1/8th inch from ceiling to floor. We needed to fortify the wall so that the outside ground pushing against the wall does not, eventually, cause the wall to collapse.

I had Keystone come out to give a quote in late Dec. Two gentlemen were sent out to assess the situation and draw up a bid. They had full access to my basement, and all the walls they needed to go through and pipes they would have to maneuver around. The guys were very nice, informative, and knowledgeable so that left me with a good feeling. Now, getting a comparable quote was difficult because of the extra tech that Keystone wanted to provide. I determined that having a sup pump with an app was not very critical to myself and the situation that we had. We reached an agreement on price, equipment, and a date after about a week or so. They came on time, set up a work area, and protected my belongs from the dust and debris that could occur from the work they were about to do…awesome! Now is where I am unhappy with the work provided. I come down to my basement to speak with the team and they told me that I wasn’t required to be there while they worked and that was a relief due to the tremendous noise of the jackhammer (that’s not the problem, I can’t blame them for a loud jackhammer!) they needed to use, so I left with my daughter while they worked. About an hour after I left I get a call saying there was a problem with how close my main stack and drain sat next to the wall and they would need to cut the pipes and move them to install the drain properly. This is AFTER the two employees came to my home, took measurements, took in consideration what needed to be done to complete the work….those pipes never came up. So, either the two guys that come out to give me a quote didn’t know what the work would entail OR I was being held hostage, so to speak, with a giant hole in my basement floor spanning the length of my house. The worker said that I’d have to call a plumber to do the work and it would cost around $1500 or he would gladly do it for me since he was there and just happened to have the necessary equipment and replacement pipes and he would do it for half of what the “other guys” would charge me. I felt at that point I had no choice but to allow him to complete the work now rather than wait for a plumber to come out, leave the trench in my basement for a period of time, and reschedule for the work to be completed at a later date. One of the reasons I chose Keystone was because they claimed that they follow the Army Corp of Engineers standards and procedures…I’m no expert but when I looked at the drain pipe they were installing, it did not follow a downward slope to the pump, it looked like a rollercoaster, going up down and side to side. At this point I was just ready to be done and not bring anything up in fear that I would be told I would need to pay extra to have the drain follow a downward slope. The guys worked hard, and later that day, and when it was all said and done I took at tour of the work and it looked fine to me until we get outside to go over the drain pipe coming from the pump to the exterior of my property. When I was with the two original guys drawing up a quote I was told that the drain would run underground and go past the front edge of my homes foundation. Well, when the work was complete that drain pipe came right out of the side of my house about 4 ft and would shoot water right at my neighbor’s house. It was about 8 at night so I wanted to let these guys get home to their families so I just left it be. I received a call a week later asking if I was pleased with the work completed, I brought up the additional costs that I had to pay (and was told initially there would be NOTHING additional), the drain pipes location not being what we discussed, and the fact that I was told there would be a mold remediation spray applied to my basement walls that wasn’t taken care of the day of the work. They sent someone out to spray the walls in my basement and to assess the drain pipe outside, as far as the additional money I had to fork over to their worker (who requested the check be made out to him, personally, and not Keystone) they said that it was an agreement between me and that worker which essentially was like saying “tough luck bud, we got you”. The person who came out to go over what they had missed with the drainpipe said they would come out, no problem, to dig a trench and do it the way we had agreed in the first place. Well, he left that day in January and I haven’t heard from them since. I understand that they couldn’t dig in January with the ground being frozen and all, hence why I’ve waited until April 22 to write this review. I have not heard from them since that day and it shouldn’t be on me, the customer, to pester them to do the job right. They should be ready and willing to do what they said they would do in the first place. It took everything I had to give them C’s and B’s and not F’s out of frustration. I’ve come to terms that I will have to fix the drain myself, they are probably glad to get rid of me and my expectations of them.

Member, Let me first state that the discharge line issue will be examined. I have Mel from my office calling you soon. With that said, I would like to address the issue of the extra charge. The issue was roots in your pipes and some other issues with the stack. There is no way to detect that on inspection. Nor is it an indictment of the inspectors skill. No one has X-ray vision. Keystone did not put the roots in the line nor is it possible to see pipes under the floor, let along to know if there are roots in the line. In closing, we will be calling you regarding the discharge line. Thank you. Sincerely, Aaron Stull

They're excellent. It's wonderful. The technology was top over the line. The owner of the company is an architectural engineer, so he really knows his stuff. They were here 3 whole days and there were four guys. I did get lower estimates, but I was so impressed with them I also got a lifetime warranty so if I sell the house it goes on to the new owner. It's for the life of the house.
Description of Work: They gave me an entire basement waterproof system with two sump pumps and french drains. They went under my foundation with pipes. It's a complete system that has sensors if anything walked and if the alarm goes off. It's the newest technology. They waterproofed the entire perimeter of the basement. It was extensive.

Member, I am very thankful for this review. I think it is important that the public see that we assess things honestly. If someone has an issue that we DO NOT fix, we are going to tell you...and offer suggestions. If you have an issue we do fix, we will also give you honest information so you can make an informed decision. I truly wish you the best of luck with your project. Sincerely, Aaron Stull, President

basement waterproofing, wells

I contracted with Keystone several years ago to waterproof my old basement. Aaron and his crew were absolutely topnotch! My home is 100+ years with a sandstone foundation. At the time, I had owned my home for well over 20 years and the small streams of water from the walls to the floor multiplied over time with each rainfall. I finally decided to bite the bullet and secure estimates for waterproofing. Aaron provided me with the best quote and my decision to move forward with the work has proven to be a blessing. I have had a dry basement for the past five years and was even able to place a large area rug on the floor. Although the floor is very uneven and the basement will never be livable space, I can enjoy the dry floor and white walls and not have to worry about moisture. During the work, the crew went above and beyond by removing an old sink and toilet, and laying concrete in an old storage closet that had a dirt floor. The sump pump did go off last year during an exceptionally heavy rainfall and I didn't know how to turn off the alarm. I called Keystone and a gentleman called me back right away to provide easy instructions. I'm now looking forward to hearing from my friends at Keystone, since the work comes with follow-up visits every five-years to flush out the system. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend Keystone to anyone in need of waterproofing.

Member, I absolutely remember your situation and I am so pleased to hear that things are going well. I also want to let you know that you are in the next quarterly batch of 5-year inspections. Our office will be calling in the next few weeks to set up a time to perform the service for you. When we come out we perform an inspection of the system and perform any maintenance that is needed at that time. Thank you again for your business! Sincerely, Aron Stull President

I was told that I would be contacted by a structural engineer to have my property looked at to make sure the project was done correctly. It has been over 94 days since they came to my house. I have yet to be contacted by one. Not only that but when I signed up for their credit they didn't charge the account in time so I had to go all back through the credit card process with them again. It is one headache after another. They were supposed to be a great reputable company but when I called and talked to them I got nothing but attitude when I talked to the agent the first time and when someone from service contacted me. I am very upset and disappointed in my experience I feel as though I was robbed for my money. If I am able to update my review if and when this ever gets resolved I will.
Description of Work: They came out to put Kevlar sheets up on my garage wall. To fix a cracking and buckling wall.

Let me first say that this review is correct. The engineer I hired is backed up and was not able to meet the agreed on 60-day window to come out. Our business grew 43% year-to-date and we did not have the ability to keep up with the demand. That is not an excuse, it is just an explanation of what happened...which I feel is deserved at this point. Going forward I am canceling this program as it is not scalable with our company growth. I will fulfill all outstanding obligations, as is my responsibility, but we will no longer offer this service as we have grown to large. I will also issue the $150 refund for the service to you. Please look for that in the mail in the next 30-days. You have my sincerest apology that this happened. Aaron Stull, President

From beginning to end I had a great experience with Keystone basements! Starting with the thorough inspection Brian assessed my foundation and gave me honest straight forward answers to what my issues were without trying to sell me Something that I didn't need. Within two days a small crew came and completed the work in one day. All of the guys in the crew were polite and courteous, they were happy to answer any questions that had and they left the jobsite neat and clean without making a mess. I was completely satisfied with the work that was done and the price that was fair and affordable made possible with their easy financing plan. I definitely will recommend them to anyone who is thinking about having some work done!!
Description of Work: They underpinned the foundation and stabilized it from cracking.

I THINK I have a system that works; I hope! $9,200 - WOW! Shortly after, I get a postcard in mail for discount on additional services - obviously they undersell so you need that! Also, installation includes a structural engineer inspection of their installed system. A few weeks later, a young lady (engineering student?) drove out from Ohio (Kent State Univ.) to look at my garage and basement. I explained my fears and she expressed concern over the system and said she saw a few things she hadn't seen before and wasn't sure about things and would include it in her report to Keystone. I never got a copy of said inspection nor would Keystone discuss it with me. No paperwork - all done online and I don't have a printer, so I couldn't print anything out. Another waterproofing company (they gave original estimate which WAS higher but included a 3-part system) came back out to talk me into something else; so I let him see Keystone's "solution". He said I was ripped off. Upset, I took pix and emailed them saying I believe that salesman played me because I was a woman. The owner sent an irate email back saying how dare I accuse him of that - well, dude, maybe not you personally, but your salesman and, guess what, YOUR EMPLOYEES REPRESENT YOU! He told me he would send the Service Dept. out to check my system and I was NEVER TO CONTACT HIM AGAIN. That was in early February, and I've never heard from Mr. Stull nor Keystone. Like somebody said in their Better Business Bureau complaint against them, "I get better customer service buying a $5 hamburger!" WHAT I LEARNED: If a salesman tries to tell you something that goes against what his contract says, throw him/her out immediately!! When I told Mr. Stull what the salesman said the system would do, his retort was, "Well, YOU should have read your contract; it doesn't do that!" Avoid this company at all costs unless you want to waste money and get a big headache!
Description of Work: Salesman (first week on the job) said internal sump pump would take care of water rivuleting down garage wall and front basement wall. No papers for me to look at; all on his iPad (said they just switched to electronic last week). I showed him on his screen where it said "cove" which included only 24" up for internal system and 3 times asked, "Are you sure this will fix it?" Three times he said, "Yes, absolutely!". Installation went well, but I swear I've never heard system come on and water still ran down walls. Called and owner came out and installed white baggy plastic on my garage walls free of charge so now I can't see the wall. I have yet to hear the pump come on or see evidence of evacuating water outside on sidewalk.

Member, I am sorry to read that you are dissatisfied. As stated above, I inspected the work at your home. Essentially your foundation (100+ years old) was very rare and unique. I am sure you would agree it is not a "standard" foundation. The end result is that you needed additional work...which we did at no cost for you. In the end, some waterproofing systems need additional items to make them work correctly when the inside of a foundation wall is unusual. Because we cannot see inside the foundation wall we sometimes have to come back to add additional protection. Rather than use this as a way to charge you money, we did the extra work for free. I thought we treated you fairly...this review takes me by surprise. Lastly, you received a mess mailer that we sent to all of our past customers explaining that we perform basement painting. Almost anyone would consider this normal. It says a lot that something this innocent was worthy of scorn on a public forum. I hope the reader gives this equal weight when considering this review.
