My basement wall had spalling paint and a garage workshop had a cracked foundation. I was concerned about what damage had been done and what work would be needed to correct it. The company rep examined the house and workshop and gave me assurance that everything would be fine, and that no work by them was actually needed. He explained how a simple rep[air to the window well would redirect water from condensed clothes drier steam and rainwater. He noted that we had already repaired the underlying cause of the foundation crack, and that there was no subsidence below the workshop. Best money I have spent in a long time - honest advice and reassurance! I will call them again if the problem returns or worsens.
Description of Work: The tech/engineer was to evaluate some problems and suggest treatment needed to correct them.

After a couple of start dates, the job was done quickly and efficiently. The crew was polite and told me exactly what they had done that day so I could tell my husband when he got out of work. The crew cleaned up after they completed the foundation. Overall we were completely satisfied with the work. Though it was a little expensive due to the fact they had to do all by hand and not use machinery due to the hillside.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced one and one half of the foundation.

Customer, I don't have to tell you that your foundation was in serious jeopardy. Not only was the scope of work massive at your home, the access was extremely difficult. Because we had to rebuild the entire foundation again, all while working 3 feet from the edge of a 200ft drop off, the work was slow and safety was a principal concern. Did this add to your price? Yes. With that said, the price was based on the extreme conditions of the project and not some arbitrary reason. Going forward, your foundation has been build on one of the biggest footers we have ever created. Moreover, the foundation is strong and secure. Your home is now safe and habitable again. Thank you.

The sales persone was very pleasant, extremely thorough and provided a great amount information on details of the work he recommended. He was quite pushy regarding making a decision and giving payment on the spot that day to make a decision. Because this was the first estiamte I had for installing a french drain I was not comfortable making a decision on the spot without having at least two other bids. He said I would only get the Angies List discount if I gave a deposit that moment, and that does not sit well with me. Again the presentation was thorough, the warranty sounds superb, but the aggressiveness in making an on the spot decision for something a bit out of my knowledge wheel house, was off putting. I have tabled the decision and will revisit it in the spring. He estimated $4,500 for a small interior french drain and sump pump.
Description of Work: It was just a consultation of my water problem. It is what most companies provide for free, so the fact I paid for it was disheartening.

Member, I am glad that you posted this response. I personally came out to your home so this gives me a good opportunity to dispel some false notions I have been hearing out in the marketplace. 1. The fee you paid was to Angie's List, not Keystone Basement Systems, for the "Big Deal" package they offer. Keystone does not receive any compensation for this. Angie's List approaches companies like ours and asks for an exceptional deal to market to their members. Angie's List gets the fee and our company gets an opportunity to earn the business of one of its members. 2. The service you selected was for an in-depth diagnostic. This service is usually $350 and requires an engineer be sent to your home to perform the inspection. You did not request the "free estimate" with one of our inspectors. This was the reason for the fee. 3. Our company policy is that ALL quotes are good for 30 days. The urgency you spoke of came from wanting to use a coupon which was about to expire. The full price quote, like all others, was good for the standard time. The coupon, however, had an end date as all coupons do. 4. We are more that a basic foundation company. We have very skilled engineers who perform many paid inspection services. Much like an architect or a lawyer, their time is always fee based. We also perform free estimates for clients as well, but this is a different service altogether than what you selected. In closing, I hope this helps to clarify some things to you and any person who may be reading this. Thank you.

Our problem was a front wall under the porch that was admitting water and silt during heavy rainstorms. Giulio, who has background in engineering, came out to do the assessment, and recommended an inside French drain with sump pump. Within 2 weeks, they were able to fit us in for the work. Tony and his crew arrived on time, helped us carry out lumber from the built-in shelves we demolished, and went promptly to work on the French drain. They used a dust-free vacuum system to contain the concrete dust, so there was no mess. They were polite, professional and efficient, and completed the job by mid-afternoon. They did a nice, neat job, showed us how to troubleshoot the system, and cleaned up after themselves. We'll see how well it works after our next storm, but all in all, we were very happy with Keystone Basement Systems.

Customer, I respectfully have to disagree with your comment. To think that you would receive the same level of service from watching our generalized web video verses having an engineer come out to your home and create a specific repair plan, all while taking into account the nature of your problem, the foundation type, exterior terrain conditions and many other factors makes no sense. Once again I think the Angie's List "Big Deal" concept was missed in this case. You did not request a "free estimate" from us. Rather you selected a full foundation diagnostic. I take full responsibility for that as it is my job to create verbiage that is clear and concise. With that said, after looking up your appointment, you were slated to have a civil engineer come out to your home for a few hours and diagnose the problem and create a specific repair plan for your home, in writing, for $49. There is no way a video or a "free estimate" would compare to this level of service.

We had some water leaking in our basement. I called Keystone Basement to come and check it out. They arrived on time and did a thorough examination of the basement (which is free). After assessing the problem, they told me that all I really needed to do was buy some simple caulking material (they even wrote down the product name for me) and do it myself. He told me point-blank that this is such an easy fix, that I'd be nuts to pay to have them do it (I'm paraphrasing a bit here). I really appreciated his honesty and candor....and it saved us money! I'd definitely use them again in the future (though hopefully I won't have to!)

This is my favorite type of review to have on Angie's List. In today's world, many people are skeptical of contractors...and for good reason. Honest contractors are hard to find. I am so pleased that we treated you fair and honestly. In a lot of cases we have to give people bad news. I think people are more apt to call a contractor like Keystone when they see examples of us telling people when they do NOT need service. It was my pleasiure to help you and I am pleased your problem was minor. Thank you.

I had an initial estimate and recommendation done on 11/05/2012. The inspector arrived on time and was friendly. He answered all my questions and eventually we agreed on a price for an interior french drain and sump pump installation. Tony's crew arrived on 11/21/2012 at the time they said they would. They were also very friendly and answered all of my questions. They were very professional and took time to prepare my basement before they began the work hanging plastic sheets and putting plastic over the carpet. They then began the job. They were here over 8 hours completing all of the work. Once completed Tony again offered to answer any questions that I had. I am very satisfied with the work that was performed and the price that was paid for it.

After the initial evaluation, I chose to engage the company to fix my basement problem. They gave me a price of $11,897; then, based on a date-check, dropped it to 10,649 if I would take the earlier date of October 2, which I did. They later called and told me that the rep had given me the wrong starting date, which was to be one day later. When the crew arrived, they took one look at the large cupboard that I had in the basement and said they couldn't dismantle it, even though it was part of the contract, so they couldn't start that day. The company engaged another group of workers to dismantle the cupboard, which they did Oct. 10. The actual basement work began October 15 and was completed by Oct. 18. They moved all the storage units away from the walls to do their work and built a plastic tent around them to prevent too much cement dust from landing.there, I had not thought to include painting the walls (which were still rough block) until after the floor was done. Some of their people do that sort of work on Saturdays on their own time. To paint the four walls with water-proof paint cost me an additional $900 for two men and their coordinator. When they were finished painting, they put the storage units back and swept the floor. Later when I checked all the work more closely, I discovered that even though the cement next to the walls was smooth, the area where the new and old cement merged was all rough and at different levels, and the painters had gotten white paint all over the edges of the floor. So I had to call the company to have them send a crew back to do a better job of finishing. By the time they could free a couple of workers to do the floor cleanup it was the third week of November, but they did a reasonably good job of smoothing it out. The workers and contact people were always polite and professional and easy to work with, and the end result seems to be well done.
Description of Work: The rep from Keystone came out and did a thorough evaluation for the $49; however, I noticed on their literature that they give free evaluations. The first crew to come out was a couple of carpenters who dismantled the 20+ foot wooden storage cupboard along the one wall. They hauled all of the materials away and swept the floor. The work crew moved all of the other storage units and furnishings to the center of the floor and cover the sides of it with a floor to ceiling plastic barrier to keep as much cement dust off as possible, then with a jackhammer dug up about 18 inches of cement flooring around the periphery of the basement floor, installed a water barrier shield and a sump pump, then re-cemented the floor. A crew of two painters painted the four walls with rubber based waterproof paint and moved the storage units back in place. Later, a crew of two returned to smooth out the area where the new and old cement merged.

I am pleased that you are impressed with the overall project. I did, however, want to comment on one point. We offer two diagnostic services: 1. Free Estimate - This is a FREE 20 minute visual observation of the problem area. The rough estimate is created later and emailed to you. 2. 13 Point Diagnostic - This is a $350 service where we spend 30m to 2 hours at your home, examine the inside and outside, have a question and answer session with you and create the proposal (should work be needed) at your home. The free estimate is the first step for those engaged in casual research or real estate situations. The 13 Point Diagnostic is for those who are in the later stages of wanting to correct their problem. An additional note, you purchased the $350 for $49 via an Angie's List "Big Deal"

The owner and a trainee came out to do the inspection, I will be contacting Keystone in the spring to do the job. cost wise, $49 was reasonable for the inspection, but it would be nice to have it applied to the balance when I have work done.
Description of Work: I have an unusual situation with water seeping into 2 storage areas under porches. it's not a typical french drain solution. I learned there are only two fixes....a temporary sealant that must be reapplied annually or a rubberized coating that is unattractive but permanent. no matter which I choose, both systems require warmer weather, so I will have to wait until next year to proceed.

When Keystone came to the house for the basement inspection, the person was very friendly and we believe he did a professional job of inspecting the basement. The sales pitch is where the problem came. Keystone's sales pitch was very high pressure and a little scary. The person presenting the options made us feel the house was in danger of collapsing if we didn't do something immediately. The price quoted was exorbitant, and we refused to sign a contract that night. The salesperson seemed to get angry and frustrated with us because we would not sign. For such a high estimate we felt we needed time to discuss the work and get other estimates. We felt discouraged and a little angry with the high pressure sale. The salesman seemed angry and frustrated when he left. Not very professional. We would not call Keystone again or recommend them to friends.
Description of Work: We used an Angie's List coupon to have Keystone come to our house for a basement evaluation. The person who came was initially very friendly, and we believe he did a professional job of inspecting the basement. He advised us that one corner of the basement wall was failing and work needed to be done. He then gave us the "sales pitch" which we were expecting. Keystone had advised that both homeowners had to present for the inspection. We know that this means a sales pitch will be given. Even though we had bought the coupon for an inspection only, the sales pitch was high pressure and even a little scary.

Member, Thank you for the kind words. We take great pride in our work and constantly try to improve customer experiance. 3 years ago we invested heavily in "Dustless" jackhammers. Keystone customers enjoy a truly dustless (85% airborne particulate) experience. Unfortunately, the industry has yet to produce a noiseless jackhammer...haha. That said, if they do, we will be first in line to get them. In closing, that you for placing your trust with Keystone. We used to an Angie's List deal to get an evaluation on waterproofing our basement. They showed up, and were there for about 3 hours looking at every little detail. After some consideration, we decided to do it. Our basement was a mess. It smelled very basement-y and often had a bout a 10' round standing pool of water... even if it hadn't rained for a few weeks. Keystone was great. Very professional, and as part of the work found that our downspouts had become clogged and a couple other minor pieces of work needed to be done. Not only did they do that work for free, but they STILL finished two days earlier than we'd been told. It's been 10 months, and there has not been a touch of water in the basement!

Member, I am pleased to know that the problem has been completely eliminated. Your problem in the basement was pretty bad. We also discovered the bad downspout as well. That said, we were able to adapt and overcome to the situation and do a great job for you. In closing, I will say this...we are not the cheapest company. Nor are we the most expensive. Rather we are the best value for your money. The most bang for your proverbial buck. Rarely in life is the "best" also the "cheapest." But when it comes to getting value for your money, we are the clear choice. Many people do not realize the amount of work we do for free once we are on a project. I am glad you saw what we did for you. This is one of the reasons why hiring a quality company is always the best choice. Thank you for your business. Oh, by the way, I have the crack monitor so that we can watch the crack on the front foundation wall. I will give you a call to set up a time to come over. Have a good day.
There was a high degree of professionallism and expertise that were evident. All that was being evaluated was thoroughly explained to me as well as the cost for repair.

We bought the big deal for a home inspection for water in the basement. From the moment the guy walked in the house he was selling us on his company's basement waterproofing. I felt like the $49 was wasted since it was a sales call and not truly an inspection. Of course, he recommended a $10,000 install due to water in our basement although we haven't had water only moisture on our blocks. We will now have to get other companies to come inspect and quote. Maybe the sales guy was correct, but the whole event seemed like a charade for us to pay $50 for for him to give us a $10,000 quote. I definitely want my $49 back. I don't feel like they "checked and advised" us on all of the 13 points mentioned in the Big Deal. He was just here to sell us on their system. This was not worth the $350 that they valued it at which is what was frustrating.

Customer, Thank you for the feedback. As a person who has performed over 3000 foundation diagnostic evaluations I can say this...most problems are pretty obvious to the trained eye. It is a truism that you must never assume and that you still need to perform your due diligence as an inspector, but there are some signs that we see that tell us exactly what is going on. I think your move to have other inspections performed is a good one. I think that you will find that our inspection and diagnosis is correct. If I can be so bold as to make one claim, it would be this; Keystone Basement Systems, Inc. gives the best foundation diagnostic in western PA. I put my guys through a lot before they are even allowed to go out in the field. For example, the newest recruit I am training at the moment has 9 weeks of training...and he is still not out in the field with observation let alone by himself. In closing, should you want, I would be more than happy to come out personally and perform a second diagnostic. The most important thing to me is that our inspection process be accurate and trustworthy.

We have a finished basement and were experiencing water seepage along one wall which fouled a patch of carpet in that area (since removed). Getting an appointment for an estimate took about 2 weeks as the online system was apparently not working properly and they have a limited number slots (only weekday evenings) for appointments. One very odd thing was that they insisted (over the phone multiple times and in their email follow-up) that all home owners be present for the evaluation. They were insistent to the point of making me suspicious. They claimed this was because they are very busy and don't want to waste their time with evaluations of houses where later the home owners disagree about the course of action. In dealing with numerous other companies for home repair, this has never been a condition of evaluation/estimate. I found this very strange. My wife's job does not always have a fixed ending time, so it was difficult to ensure that she could be home for the estimate. So this condition was somewhat difficult for us to meet. The estimator arrived on time and seemed to do a thorough inspection of the issue, including looking at areas around our trouble spot. However, he seemed only interested in selling us on an internal French drain system and continually pointed out how their competitors systems were deficient and how an external system would be very expensive and be un-maintainable. For our finished basement, the cosmetic options for sheeting over the internal wall were not terrific, but he kept pushing it. The final estimate came to $9000 for a system along one side of the house. When I asked about doing an external system instead, he at first said that he would generate an estimate on the spot, then he had to call his boss, then he said that he was unable to generate the estimate right now, but would send it to me later. Have not heard a peep from the company since. If you are looking to put in an internal French drain system, these guys seem perfectly happy to dig up your basement for you. But don't hold your breath if you are looking for any other solutions to your basement moisture problems, like *gasp* actually keeping the water out of your basement in the first place.
Description of Work: Contacted Keystone for an evaluation/estimate for basement waterproofing. No other services performed.

Member, After I received this Angie's List alert I knew exactly who you were. You have the San Fransisco cell phone number that would never connect. After getting this report I called the home number associated with your account and immediately got your wife. We talked and were able to see what went wrong. We had the last 4 digits transposed with your home number. Anyway, as I told your wife, due to this mix up I would to come out personally and explain our Exterior Systems. Kevin, your original inspector, is not qualified for this type of inspection. He gave me your phone number to call you and that is where the disconnect occurred. It would be my pleasure to meet with you. I gave you wife my direct cell phone number to give me a call so that we can clear this all up.

I made appointments with 6 basement waterproofing companies that I found on angies list, all with great reviews. All were great in educating me in the problem that I had with my basement. I have a damp basement, no pooling water visible, just sometimes I get some moisture on my cinder blocks after a lot of rain and that leads to a lot of humidity in my basement. Of course all of the contractors said I need the cement foundation broken up along the exterior walls in my basement and an internal drain installed with a sub pump to remedy the problem. My thoughts, amputating a limb because you have a scratch. Regardless, they all tried to scare me about mold and how horrible this problem is, as if it were life and death, for a space I do not use. Each appointment was between 1-2 hours as they explained the problems and the solution. All of the companies had the exact same system, and the exact same materials with various sub pumps which varies in prices within $500 of each other and ALL have a LIFETIME warranty on everything except the pump. Of course, ALL told me that theirs was the best and most effective and 3 of the companies, including Keystone claimed that they often are called in a few years later to fix other companies systems that had clogged or caused structural problems. This wis Keystones MAJOR selling point - bash the competition! The estimates were between $4500 - $9119 EXCEPT for Keystone who came in with $13,650.00 and stated that they are the best and their product comes with a lifetime guarantee with a service plan that is included in the price for them to flush the system every year! I understand their price is high, but I have a policy not to make a decision to sign contracts on the spot. Michael, the Keystone man, told me that if I signed right then and there he would take $2000.00 off the price. I told him that that isn't an option for me since I have a policy to sleep on all large purchases and not to sign contracts on the spot. He said that was too bad and that the $2000 discount leaves with him that day. I asked if I were prepared to sign the contract the next morning, could I get the discount? He said no. I asked why not. He said that it was a matter of driving around too much all over the area, giving estimates all day every day and he doesn't have time to double back to get contracts signed. I found that to be an odd response, so I offered that if I wanted to move forward and sign the contract the next day, I would be willing to drive to him, wherever he may be, (even if he is hours away). That I would meet him at a place of his choosing at the time of his choosing and we could spent less that 5 minutes to complete the deal and sign the contract, but I would need the $2000 discount. He said no. At that point I was irritated and told him that I believed he was playing games and that kind of unethical business made me question how well they would honor their warranty. I told him that he just waisted 2 hours of my time and if I was told when I called to make the appointment that I would have to make a decision on the spot, I would not have made the appointment, especially since I had to leave work for the appointment. I was fuming inside, but I kept my composure and kindly asked him to leave. DO NOT GET PRESSURED INTO SIGNING A CONTRACT WITH KEYSTONE ON THE SPOT! I believe they pray on people who don't do their homework and get swept up in the fear of mold and other bad contractors.
Description of Work: Met for estimate and the man, Michael, was very condesending and was obviously pulling a scam.

Member, As the owner of Keystone I make it a point to personally answer every report we receive on Angie’s List and other similar websites. Whether the report is positive or negative, I feel it is my responsibility to acknowledge the comments of those we have met and helped. In almost every case I am dealing with an “A” report…but not today. After reading your report I was very troubled that this was your opinion of my company. I started this company when I was 24 years old and have worked my entire adult life to build a company that does great work and is well respected. To do this a company has to work a lot harder than others. To be a great company your methods, materials and team members have to be a cut above the rest. You are judged on every customer interaction and project and that is the way it should be. In order to make sense of your report I took some time to research all the parts outlined. Although we did not perform work for you, we still met you for an estimate and this meeting is what you created the report about. As I understand it you had a problem with Michael himself, the price for outlined services and an issue with a discount. After looking into the matter 2 of the 3 areas easily explained. The third area is one that has been handled. Area 1 - $13,650 Estimate After a look into your file I stand firmly behind this price. If I am to understand the notes in your file your home has existing radon issues and the system had to compensate for that. Most basement waterproofing systems negate radon systems unless they are designed and sealed to work in concert with the radon system itself. Moreover, you have a large home and thus a large waterproofing system. In addition, 40’ of finished basement had to be dismantled and reassembled. It is unfortunate that your home has a radon issue and the basement is finished. Radon issues make internal basement waterproofing systems more expensive. But the reality is that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer and is #1 in non-smokers. Last year at the International Radon Symposium in Las Vegas the AARST outlined the protocol for safe installation of internal French drains when known problems of radon exist in residential dwellings. We follow this protocol to ensure safety. This adds about 10% to the cost of internal systems. That fact, coupled with the fact we were performing a good deal of work related to demo and reconstruction of the basement is the reason for the price. I do not and will not apologize for installing waterproofing systems the correct way. Area 2 - $2000 Discount/Scam I implore any reader of this post to easily verify what I am about to state as the facts are easily verified. Although I cannot be sure how Michael presented the available discount to you, I can say that we ran a 15% off coupon through Angie’s List during the time that you had a visit from our firm. As with any coupon, Angie’s List closely reviews and approves the content and fine print. The coupon ran for 12 weeks and was 15% off any new service. The expiration was written clearly, and in bold writing, on the website. As with any published coupon our company would honor it as outlined. Although I cannot be completely sure I think this may be the longest I have ever run any coupon through Angie’s List. Area 3 – Michael Nothing is more egregious in my eyes than making the company many have built look bad. I am not sure how a simple matter such as giving an estimate turned so bad from your perspective. With that said, I intend to find out. I have a meeting with Michael and he is suspended, without pay, until that meeting. I will be frank…I am not promising any action except the right action. If what you have outlined in regard to Michael’s behavior towards you is true, I will take swift and severe actions. But, with that said, I have explained the other two points in regard to price and the discount/scam. These matters are easily researched. I will not post the decision of this meeting with Michael on a public forum such as this as I feel it is inappropriate. With that said, in the event you (Naseem) would like to know the outcome I feel I am obligated to have the conversation with you, as you obviously feel wronged by your meeting with Mike. In closing, we are a good company. I truly believe it is not “If” you have a problem but “how” you handle your problems that define you as a good company or bad. I promise to be thorough, prudent and most of all fair in dealing with this matter. This I can assure you. But, and I wish to be definitive on this point, the first two areas of the complaint I resolutely stand by what has been written above. Thank you.

I bought a "deal" for Keystone Basement Systems from Angies List because I was concerned about the dampness in my 120-year-old basement. I didn't have bowed walls or standing water, but there was a damp smell. Foundations are important and really must be maintained. Michael was the field inspector that came to my home. He was very nice and very informative. He took lots of measurements and lots of time to inspect the basement, inside and out - which, unfortunately involved navigating around too much stuff. Afterwards, I knew more about basements than I ever thought I would know. I found the price to be reasonable, and so we scheduled a time for the install. Unfortunately, I had to change the date due to other commitments, but my new install date was only two weeks later than the first. Tony and his crew arrived on Monday morning and they had completed the job by Thursday afternoon. They were great guys, and they were extremely responsive to my fear of getting dust all through my house from the jackhammering. I still cannot believe that there was no dust from this job. Tony uses a dust-free system connected to the jackhammer, and it truly works. They were incredibly hard workers and professionals of the highest caliber. On a personal note, I had told Tony that I had a wine tasting to attend on Thursday night, and he was not sure that they would be able to finish by then. I was okay with that answer, after all, a wine tasting? Not exactly high priority stuff. But they stayed late on Wednesday night, so that they could finish by Thursday afternoon, and I got to attend that wine tasting. I don't remember the wines, but I sure remember the effort that Tony and his guys expended on my behalf. I highly recommend Keystone Basement. And I highly recommend Tony and his crew for your job.
Description of Work: A French drain was installed in the interior of my basement. A trench was dug all around the perimeter - which involved jackhammering out the concrete. Gravel was placed in the trench, plastic piping with a "sock" on it was placed in the trench and some sort of egg carton plastic was also placed against the wall and ending in the drain. A white plastic membrane was attached to all the walls from ceiling and into the trench. All of this was then re-concreted in place. Also, 2 sump pumps and 2 drain cleanouts were installed. The sump pumps were then connected to the outside drain through the foundation wall. Quite an undertaking.

Fine. No major problems. Mr and Mrs Oneil
Description of Work: We had our basement waterproofed since we had been getting leakage for some time. Keystone dug out a French drain, put in a sump pump, They then placed a thick vinyl coating on the walls and cememted the vinyl in place. For an additional charge they also painted the basement walls. We were very pleased with the workmanship shown by the staff and by Aaron. The men were as unobtrusive as was possible under the circumstances. They worked diligently and were professional at all times. To date we have had no water seepage and we are confident that the problem has been solved. We do not hesitate to recommend Keystone to other potential customers.

Member, I would like to start by saying that it was a pleasure to deal with you and your husband. With thatsaid, as you know you have one of the more difficult basements to waterproof. Your foundation is the height on "non-standard." With that said, when you create a sound repair plan and have quality workers, any basement can be waterproofed...even one that has leaked as long as yours. I always pride myself on creating quality solutions. I feel even better when I am able to create a custom repair plan on a complicated foundation without sacrificing a shred of quality. This was exactly what we did at your home. Congratulations...enjoy your basement!

One of the wall in our basement which is right behind the furnace had water seepage problem. The original surface over the sandstone wall was crumbling. Previous owner installed a 15' french drain system along that wall, but it was not working well. I had 5~6 companies came over to offer the solutions to our problem. Most of those companies were A-rated companies from Angie's list. Basically, each company offered a different solution and some of them were contradict to each other. In order to decide which one to follow, I did some research and asked a lot of questions during each visit from those companies and tried to see the pros and cons from their solutions (I myself have an advanced degree in chemical engineering). Eventually, I decided to go with the solution offered by Keystone Basement, which I thought made most sense to me overall. Initially, the solution offered by the field inspector from Keystone was too expensive to us, not due to the amount of work, but due to the requirement of installing battery backup pump system which itself cost at least $1300. In our situation, I think even our main pump will only be in use very sparsely because the amount of water seeped through was small and most of them will be absorbed into the soil around the french drain before even reach to the pit where the pump sits in. So I did not want to spend extra $1300 if I think we will probably never use the backup pump system. The president of the company contacted me later and came over to re-evaluate our situation. He offered a better solution and also allowing us replacing the old pump with a new one and not installing a battery backup pump system. I was happy with the solution and the cost was very reasonable for the amount of the work they would do. Overall, we had a very good experience with Keystone. The president of the company was a nice gentleman. He was knowledgeable, very easy to talk to and willing to work with customers with their individual situations and he could create a plan that is suitable to the situation and the budget without compromising the quality of the work. The crew who executed his plan were also professionals.
Description of Work: Re-Installed 15' of interior french drain along one of our basement wall. Wall membranes were constructed of cement rough casting. New pump was installed. Old dry wall was removed. Tony and his crew performed the task. It took them two full days to complete the work. Tony and his crew were all very courteous. They took a very good care of our carpet in the basement (we have a finished basement.) and on the first floor near the entrance. They kept the dust to the minimum and workplace was clean throughout their work. They worked very hard and we were very happy with the result. They cleaned up the place very well in the end.
