Gave estimate and that was fine. We declined to have the service done. I get called on a bi-weekly basis asking if I would like the service performed. I have repeatedly asked them to stop calling me. They continue to call. Frustrating. I will not use their services in the future. ***I have amended my review based on the professionalism and concern displayed by the owner of the company Aaron Stull who personally called me and sent me a letter apologizing for the badgering. It went a long with me and while I am still not in need of their services I am confident that the issue has been addressed and would consider their services in the future.

Member, When we are in the wrong I will always own up to it. I have always said that no person or company is without fault. It is how you handle your problems that defines you as a good or bad company. After looking at your file in our CRM I can see that we did call you 5 times in a 2 month period. That is way too much and I understand your frustration. I will be calling you personally today and formally apologize for this. Additionally, I have updated the system and you will no longer receive calls from us until you reach back out to us. I apologize for this and for the frustration you have incurred. Thank you for bring this up so that we can find out what happened and become better as a company. Sincerely, Aaron Stull President Keystone Basement Systems, Inc.

Response from Keystone Basement Systems & Structural Repair Inc
Member, I have to say that your review is a little misleading. You stated a price for 66 feet...as if every 66ft is the same in every house for every problem and situation. Naturally we can all agree that every basement and every problem is unique. A finished basement is far different than an unfinished basement. Additionally, the services that we offered you far exceed the industry standard. For example: 1. The repair plan that you had quoted included periodic service and maintenance for life. This is a great feature as we come out and camera your lines and clean your pipes to ensure exceptional performance for the life of your waterproofing system. Certainly this is going to add to the project investment. 2. The repair plan that you had quoted included a primary pump as well as an auxiliary battery operated pump and powerhouse generator to protect your home in the event of a power outage or primary pump issue. This is also a popular feature that most companies do NOT provide. Certainly this will add to the project investment. These items, as well as some other minor items, were all part of your proposal. In the end, our company is not for everyone. Our target customer understand quality. Our target customer understands that paying a little more for quality in the beginning, saves a lot of money on the back end. I have stated many times before that our target customer is the person who wants quality at the best price...not the cheapest price. We will never be the cheapest because we refuse to be anything but the best.

Clarence McGhee was the Sr Field Inspector, he was on time and dressed in com pant attire. He presented his ID which I appreciated. He did a thorough inspection of internal and External Walls. He examined for cracks in the foundation and any joint problems. He looked for mold, acid decay, mold and pests. He also inspected the gutter and downspout conditions as well as Exterior grade conditions. Since I am going to sell my house it was good to know the condition of the basement area and what work that needed to be done. Mr McGhee did a very professional job. I would highly recommend their services.

I lucked out big time!!! I got Tony's crew and they are the best crew I have ever used-ever. They are professional to the highest degree. They were on time, polite and did top notch work. They were respectful and listened to and responded to every concern I had. They did everything perfectly. The French Drain was perfect. The concrete work was gorgeous. Tony even built up the concrete under the wooden stairs which had been somewhat damaged to the point where they were level and sturdy. They had bounced up and down previously and that was quite a treat to have that fixed even though I had not expected it. I had no idea that he was essentially fixing the stairs by doing such a great job with the concrete work. Everything they touched was cleaner afterwards!! I have never had workers clean so well after finishing. They installed steel beams in the garage. They mortared behind them to make sure there was even contact along the whole beam and the mortar and concrete work were perfect. It was amazing. Again, they even swept out the garage! They removed a piece of wood that seemed to be serving no purpose as well upon my request. They also installed steel beams under an unusual tiny room under the limestone sidewalk. It came out perfect! The owner, who is a very nice and very knowledgable man came out to go over the project. He wanted to make sure it was 100 percent perfect and opted for a more expensive system at no additional cost!!! The concrete and mortar work is impeccable. It looks so different. The amazing part was there is an old grate in the sidewalk that was leaking water into this room but was really nice. I wanted to keep the grate and asked if I could without comprising the waterproofing. I had thought it was impossible. Tony's answer was yes, I could keep the grate. He went far out of his way to install rebar supports and create a concrete disc that he set the grate into while the concrete was wet. The result is the limestone sidewalk and grate look exactly the same and there is no water leaking anymore!! I feel so confident in their work and am very pleased that a great engineer assessed the site. Wes and Charles were wonderful and did beautiful work with a smile. If you saw how many buckets of rocks and dirt they hauled, you would be amazed. I literally could not be happier with the crew and their work!!

Member, Thank you so much for your response. I greatly appreciate it. I am so pleased that we were able to handle your problem in the most professional manner. With that said we are not, nor will we ever be, the cheapest price. When you provide a service, and service, to people you need to employ the best people, give them the best training, use the best materials and provide the best back end service if you want to be considered "The Best." Actually, most people are not even looking for the cheapest price. What they are looking for is the best product for the cheapest price. Once they find the level of quality they want they want to get that level for the best price they can. This is the definition of "value" and that is what Keystone is...the best value.

The job could not have gone any better. The crew was very efficient. They managed to preserve a large part of our studded dry walled walls (which saved us a ton of money). They were very clean and left my basement spotless when they were done. There was no dust through the rest of my house. Marcia, our project manager kept in close contact during the project and answered all of our questions in an exceptionally timely manner. They started on time and finished on time. They also called two days prior to make sure the scheduled date still worked for us. This company is very professional and nothing beats their warranty (which is transferable with the sale of our house and a huge selling point). The product they sell is top of the line. The smart pump even calls you on the phone if it ever malfunctions. Other companies wanted to rip out my entire finished basement. You can't go wrong with Keystone and Marcia!

After contacting their office, I received written confirmation for the date, time, and field inspectors name. The inspector arrived on the right day and time but it was not the individual we were told would be coming. No big deal for me but a quick call from them would have been nice. The inspector, Giulio, seemed very knowledgeable and thorough. He provided some suggestions and indicated that he would be providing a written proposal within approximately one week. The following day, I received a call from their office(Katie)- calling to arrange a meeting to perform the inspection along with a meeting with myself and my wife. I explained that the inspection had just been completed the day prior and I was awaiting the written proposal. She asked if my wife had been present and I responded that she was not present due to caring for a family member on the other side of town (my wife is a nurse). At that point I was frustrated, having already taken time off from my work for the inspection the previous day. I told Katie that I did not intend to repeat the meeting and that it appears they have a communication issue. She apologized and indicated that I would be receiving the estimate- that was 3 1/2 weeks ago and I have yet to see the proposal. The inspector, Guilio, was the only bright light, otherwise this company would have been a straight F.

Member, I am sorry that this happened. After looking back at your account I can see that we did mess up. Your original inspector changed because the one we had allocated for you originally was ill that day. Normally we would have sent an update email stating that someone different was coming out but we did not in this case. This was our mistake and we take full responsibility. In regard to the proposal, I do have it being sent, via email, to you the very next day by Giulio. We did not get a bounce back either. With that said we would love to resend it via email or regular mail. Please give us a call and we will send it by whatever method you desire.

I had sump pumps put into my basement. They ran an extention cord diagonally across my tandam garage, plugged into a two pronged plug with an adapter, next to a faucet. They ruined one of my exterior walls. They said they were going to put an electrical outlet in my garage that had a GFI. When the person first came he gave me a bid and told he me that he could put in the electrical outlet. I told him the bid was too high. Immediately he came down $1500. Then once on the job they said they never do that. They said they would put the wood back, my basement is finished with pine. They hammered a board back in, no stain, no finish. When I turned my washer on after they left and it made water squirt 3 feet high out of a pipe in my bathroom. I had also given them a toilet and when they took it they didn't cap it. They left cement dust everywhere and said they would clean it up. They were trying to set a drain into a hill that was not up to code. In order to set the drain, it had to go out to the street. They put a hole in my garage wall, this hole was leaking water, they had inproperly sealed it. I had to educate them on regulations. By this time they are telling me I am just giving them grief. They also put in one of the pipes I own that I use to drain a particular area in the winter. My pvc pipe, they didn't even bring their own. They didn't connect my washer and dryer, and they had many problems even with this, I had to do laundry outside of the house for days. This was a mess. The owner said he would make it right. They reinbursed me for an electrician who I had install my GFI outlet. They did compensate me for everything but what I had to go through, I would not wish it on any other member.

We reviewed the information with the serviceman when he arrived. Then he did a thorough assessment and wrote up a proposal of the work to be done. Solution was to let the water to continue to come thru the wall put in a pump to drain it. A dehumidifier would likely work but was not even suggested. I feel that it was a worthless service ... charging for an estimate that is normally free.

Member, I am sorry that you feel that you did not get the level of service you deserved. I will, however, love to elaborate on what you said about a dehumidifier. You see, whenever you are solving any problem..whether it be a medical issue or water problems in a basement, you want to correct the underlying cause and NOT treat the symptoms. Running a dehumidifier will certainly dry up water that penetrates the foundation walls and collects on the floor...BUT WHY IS WATER PENETRATING YOUR FOUNDATION AND COLLECTING ON YOUR FLOOR? After looking at your file I have a tremendous amount of information about your basement. Not only do I have 16 pictures, but I have field notes as well as the inspectors comments about your home. I have the corrective measure he suggests and why he feels it is appropriate. Moreover, I can see from the pictures that the solution he is proposing makes sense based on the damage pattern. The drainage system we suggested collects the water from under your home so that it does not raise up against the walls and floor and create more damage. This approach of relieving water pressure and thus preventing damage is the correct way to go. In the end, some problems are very obvious and do not require grandiose explanations. Furthermore, we are not going to come to your home with a theatrical flair and tell you your home is going to collapse tomorrow. You have a very obvious and typical water problem.

The installation went great however we had to wait almost 2 months to get in the schedule, then another week due to broken equipment and they were even late the day of due to a blown out tire on the truck. Member, You certainly have a right to be upset at the blown tire. We were driving to your home when that happened and that was an unexpected delay. With that said, in regard to waiting 2 months to schedule, you contracted with our company in the middle of all of the summer storms we had. during that time 2 months was not even close to our longest backlogged installation. We had some people wait almost 4 months during that time. Essentially, as the business owner, I am faced with a decision. I can hire poorly trained people to "help" with the backlog of work and let the quality of my system suffer, or I can do my best with my well-trained crews and ensure quality work for my customers. It takes almost 2 years to develop a superb foreman so that is not a short-term solution. Given that choice I will always chose giving my customers a quality installation with a little wait time rather than quickly installing poor quality work.

Clarence McGhee, Senior Field Inspector, of Keystone Basement Systems arrived promptly at the time of the appoinment, introduced himself and proceeded to acqaint himself with my concerns. Clarence was friendly, courteous, professional and showed an interest in hearing my concerns. After the discussion, we toured the basement area during which he took measurements and viewed that area, following which we determined that the area did not require any treatment at this time. He was honest and clearly explained his conclusions. Therefore, we did not proceed to developing a cost estimate. Based on our meeting, if the situation would change, I definitely would call him again.

We selected Keystone to fix our basement water problem. The field Engineer, Seth, gave a very detailed, sensible presentation and then gave a bottom-line price. The lifetime warranty was a factor in our decision. We also read various on-line reviews that helped us decide that Keystone was the way to go. The work was performed on 9/26 and 9/27/2013 and considted of installing french drains at the base of two entire basement walls and a small portion of a third wall. A sump pump was installed at one corner of the basement at the end of the french drains. Also, three carbon fiber bands were installed on the wall thought to have developed a small amount of movement due to long term water damage. A portion of two of the walls had paneling mounted on furring strips (no insulation) and the paneling also had to be removed due to water damage. Originally the quote was for two walls only, but in clearing out a 35 year accumulation of stored goods we found water damage on a short section of a third wall which looked suspect to us. We called Seth, who came out again and after examining it agreed that it should be repaired also. He included the exta work at no additional charge, which we were quite pleased with. Tony and his crew performed the work and we were very impressed with them. When they arrived Tony answered all our questions and throughout the job he was glad to answer additional questions. He also took time during the job to show us exactly what they were doing and why. They were very neat and clean. The concrete dust was virtually no problem due to the vacuum system they used as they worked the jackhammer. All members of the crew were very hard working, friendly and polite. The cleanup after the job both indoors and out was also excellent. It's never easy when someone comes to your house to do a big repair job, but Tony and his crew were a pleasure to have here. You can have complete confidence in them. The only disappointment was the wall work and treatment. The warped paneling was removed and discarded, as originally agreed upon with Seth, but Tony said that the removal of the furring strips wasn't part of the job. I assumed demo of wall paneling would include furring strips, expecially since many of them had rotted areas. Actually, they did end up removing a number of them in the course of their work, but 8 or 9 were left that I had to pry off the wall myself the next day. The Jomax wall wash was sprayed on (and that's all that was done) over old masonry paint that was still intact in many areas but had quite a bit of loose, cracked areas that would fall off the wall with a light touch of a finger. We feel that the wall should have been wire brushed or lightly scraped before applying the Jomax, because why apply something over loose paint? It sure wouldn't have taken much time to do this to the flaking areas. Also, where the paint is still intact the walls now look pretty much identical to how they looked before the job started. Maybe the Jomax kills mold and mildew but right now you still see a blackish, moldy looking wall. Unless we're missing something about the use of the product, we think the walls should have been scraped of loose paint and then scrubbed with a strong bleach or cleaner to really treat them properly. Also, crack pointing was done on the block but some spots were missed. One suggestion for Keystone: You should employ or have on call a handyman skilled in minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical who could go to jobs on an "as-needed" basis for additional cost to handle minor issues that come up during the job outside of Keystone's realm of work. For example, in our case an electrical outlet box behind the paneling was found to actually be rusted out and wasn't safe to reinstall on the wall. Right now the wire it's attached to is coiled up and the rusted out box with live plug is hanging on a nail on the wall until I can get my electrician to come and replace it. There must be similar incidents that come up in the course of your jobs. If someone was available to address these incidents while the other work was being done it would save time for the homeowner. Right now I need to wait for my electrician to come and fix this before we can proceed to start putting our room back together. The wall isues I mentioned aren't major and we're still glad that we hired Keystone. The drainage work appears to be top quality and we would definitely recommend the comapny to others.

Member, Thank you for the candid review. This will really help other members who are looking for similar services. With regard to the anti-microbial JOMAX spray...this is a topical spray to kill microbial growth on the surface of the wall. It will only kill carbon based (living) organisms such as mold and mildew. This application, in conjunction with waterproofing, denies future water and thus prevents future growth. With that said, this is NOT a bleaching or paint agent. It will not remove calcium, efflorescence or other inorganic salts. Additionally, this is not a primer for painting. Painting can certainly occur after the JOMAX application but one would want to wait 28 days before doing so. If you elect to pain the walls should certainly be prepared in a manner for paint adherence. This is why it is not done with the JOMAX application as it is not appropriate at that time. I hope this information helps. have a great day!

I was not impressed. They came and just did a cursory look at the basement and came up with a really high estimate compared to previous estimates that I had obtained. Further more, in their website, they advertised the exact same job they did for free...

Explained how and why water was coming in. The issue at the moment was not that serious, but could be an issue down the road if left to itself. Offered to put in a French drain system for roughly $3500. Price was more than reasonable, and if we do choose to do it we will go with Keystone.
Description of Work: Inspected are of basement where it appeared water was coming in.
