no service was performed.
Description of Work: I responded to an $80 lawnmower Tune up at C& H Small engine repair and paid the fee via credit card. Do NOT accept this offer! They promptly called me back, no problem, however, the actual cost is 120.00! The owner demands an extra $40 dollars --non refundable deposit upfront before the lawnmower is even looked at!

I apologize if you felt you were somehow unaware of our basic terms of service miss. We contacted you the very same day via email, cell and home phone and informed you of our terms of service and we were nothing but professional, polite, and courteous to you on the phone after you called back with concerns. For the record for all to see, our angie's list business profile clearly states below is the link to our profile the 40.00/fee info is below our contact info in the upper left portion: http://www.angieslist.com/companylist/us/pa/mckeesport/c-and-h-small-engine-reviews-6301079.htm there is a mandatory upfront $40.00 deposit fee on ANY machine that we currently have in our shop when your machine is either dropped of by u the customer or picked up by us, it can either be paid to angies list by going to this below link: http://my.angieslist.com/thebigdeal/malloffer.aspx?itemid=298756&source=22 or it can be paid directly to us c&h small engine upfront when you drop off your equipment yourself. the reason we have this upfront fee is because over 95% of the equipment we service & repair here on a day to day basis have some type or kind of underlying issue(s) that can and do prevent us from doing routine maintenance on a customers machine, such as but not limited to hard starting, dying out, stalling, surging, starts then shuts off, will not drive, will not shut off, smoking issues, knocking drive unit will not move, etc. the mandatory upfront $40.00 deposit fee covers our thorough top/bottom eval. of the machine before any work is done so that we can address issues before any routine service is performed to keep the customer 100% satisfied that the job was done right the first time and they will not have to bring the machine back again or multiple times with more future issues.

Spoke to C & H Small Engine and found that it was too far to travel and the cost for them to pick it up was more than I wanted to spend. They were polite and professional about my decision.

Description of Work: I contacted them via email, then a message left on their voice-mail....He returned the call and was very brusque, non helpful, and in no uncertain terms was of the attitude take it or leave it and was not helpful in the least. I wont recommend him nor use him myself.

we always state the best way of contacting us is directly via phone never via email or text message (because we are working 9-5 and dont have time to check emails when working on clients machines the whole day), if you get our voicemail we always recommend calling back again in a few hours because we are very busy throughout the spring/summer/fall seasons and some calls simply go to voicemail when we have [Member Information Removed]-2 customers on the phone line at any given time some go to the voicemail because we can not answer every phone call that comes in at a given moment we apologize for this. also we never treat people rudely as this person described, this is the first i have ever heard of someone claiming we were rude to them over the phone, more than likely this reviewer wanted free tech support (which we do not offer) or wanted free estimates (which we do not offer) over the phone and did not get this because we do not offer this due to the fact that we can not and do not diagnose a machine over the phone. the machine must be examined to see what needs done to it and what the est. cost will be to repair it. lastly this person/reviewer should not be leaving a legit review since they apparently refused to even have the service we provide done by us here which null and voids this review/reviewer to start with.

They were friendly and attentive. They explained everything to me, they called me before they ordered any parts for repairs. They explained to me again when they delivered it. They showed me what work they had done. They even gave me the parts they replaced to show me how badly they were worn.

Description of Work: C & H Small Engine ordered a Carburetor for our John Deere Push Mower and installed it upon arrival. He was prompt, polite and knows a lot about mowers. So..... nice that he performs this service on site to say the hassle of having to load your mower to a truck or SUV. We were very happy with the work and cost. We will definitely use C&H again!

He was only giving prices for pick up and delivery, and he never mentioned how much the repair would cost.. He wanted cash, before he started.
Description of Work: He wanted $175.00 to pick up and return mu rider mower, because I was outside of the 10 mile range, by 2 miles, on Angies list.

SECONDLY THE ABOVE PERSON HAS GIVEN AN FALSE PRICE FOR OUR OPTIONAL PICK-UP/DELIVERY SERVICE, I QUOTED HIM ON THE PHONE $85.00 FOR THE PICK UP & RETURN DELIVERY (HE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE FLAT-RATE 10MI. RADIUS HE WAS ABOUT 13MI FROM US AND EST. TRAVEL TIME TO HIM WAS EST. AT ABOUT 30MIN ONE WAY, FROM US TO HIM. WHEN YOU ADD UP TOTAL TRAVEL TIME YOU GET ROUGHLY 2HRS OF TRAVEL TIME SINCE IT IS 30MIN TO HIM, 30MIN BACK TO THE SHOP AFTER PICKUP OF HIS STUFF, ANOTHER 30MIN BACK WITH THE TRACTOR'S WORK COMPLETED AND ANOTHER 30MIN ON THE RETURN TRIP BACK TO THE SHOP AS WELL.) I ALSO INFORMED THE ABOVE GENTLEMAN ON THE PHONE OF OUR UP-FRONT DEPOSIT FEE OF $40.00 WE CHARGE UPFRONT TO EXAM ANY EQUIPMENT AND GIVE THE CUSTOMER A WRITTEN OR VERBAL ESTIMATE. OUR PICKUP/DELIVERY AND THE ESTIMATE FEES ARE ALWAYS AN UPFRONT CHARGE WHEN WE PICK UP A JOB, THE POTENTIAL CUSTOMER IS "ALWAYS" NOTIFIED OF THIS BEFORE WE COME COLLECT THEIR EQUIPMENT FROM THEM. Just one person worked on it. It took him about a day or two. The lawn mower is running great now. Overall it was a good experience.

unit hadn't run in 3-4 years; wouldn't start. Dropped unit off 10/22, paid inspection fee. was told a couple of days to evaluate and their other particulars. was called 2days later with repair costs, authorized repairs, was early next week. called 10/26 AM to P U unit in perfect running condition!!
