It went very well. A1 called to set up the appointment and then called again to let us know when they would be arriving. Josh and Adam were very professional; it was obvious they knew what they were doing. They were in and out in about 30 minutes. From the time I called in until they were finished was about 3 hours. Called for info/estimate. They called back in less that an hour. I agreed to service. Tech was there in less than an hour. Job done in 90 minutes. Tech as friendly, efficient and professional. He was considerate of my home. Cleaned everything up when done.

Being outside of their standard service area, I was afraid that I wouldn?t hear back from them but they responded to my initial call promptly and scheduled the work within the week ? my location wasn?t an issue at all. Josh and Adam were the servicemen. They were prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, neat and efficient. I was perfectly pleased with their service and their knowledge. I?ll be contacting A1 annually for routine preventive maintenance.

They returned my call the same day and scheduled the work that week. When they came by, they discussed the problem with me (the drain had been nonfunctional for a long time) and my options. I asked about a camera, but they told me I probably didn't need it. They quickly cleared the drain and gave me advice on how to keep it clear. Here and gone in 15 minutes!

Service was provided as requested. Serviceman was knowledgeable friendly clean and fast. Great company to work with, would work with again.

We were having waste back up into our basement floor drain (old terra-cotta). Had a basic plumber snake it out, and they could not solve the problem. A1 came out, and ran a high powered snake from the clean out at the end of the yard back towards the house, and then from the basement floor drain out. This cleared out the blockage (rocks possibly from outside downspout drains). Then they ran a camera from the house out and identified our main issue. Previous home owner made an improper connection causing a partial pipe obstruction. Only have to dig up a 3 foot section in our basement and not our back yard.

I made the mistake of calling one of the bigger guys first, when they left I was happy to wave back as they waved at me from the back door of the van... They told me I was going to need to have my yard dug up because we had roots in our line, and they would be happy to dig our yard up for us. I called A1 for a second opinion, after far more diligent work they had our line open, it was just a clogged trap. After pushing through the blockage he pushed another 50 feet just to make sure it was all open, said he never felt anything that felt like roots. We called at 1:30pm on a Sunday, we opted for the emergency service so we knew we were going to be paying more. They arrived in a couple of hours and got right to work.

The gusy that came were AMAZING! They had everything they needed to clear out a very long--odd "Y" shaped drain line running from my downspouts to the alley. The did such a great job-it is the first time in YEARS that my basement has no water in it. It has been quite a few months and things are still great. They were also very professional. We would call them in a minute anytime we need this again. They were here about an hour and only charged the $120--exactly what they quoted on the phone. (Don't be fooled by companies that say they need to dig up your yard or do extensive drain work.)

I live in an older home (built in the 50s) and our sewer system backs up every few years or so because of roots invading the lines and other debris getting caught up in it. The folks at A1 are "A1" ALL of the time. Friendly, courteous, professional, punctual. When the problem occurred again, I said it's "Time to call A1!" The technician, Curtis, was tremendous. Did a great job quickly and efficiently. There is no better company to call in this situation than A1!

I have been using Angie's list for several years now and have had nothing but great results from all of the contractors I have contacted and had do work at my house. I am in need of having a toilet/sewer unclogged so I searched the list. After reading nothing but stellar reviews of A-1 service, I called them......and that's when the trouble started. I called A-1 and was told by an operator for their answering service that work could be performed the same day. Great, I thought to myself, my clogged toilet problems will soon be a thing of the past. Ha, ha, ha, the joke was soon to be on me and as P.T. Barnum said, "there's a sucker born every minute". A wise saying I often have to be reminded, again and again. I operator told me that the charge for service call would be $150.00, regardless if any work would be done or not. (this means that just for A-1 to appear at my door, without doing any work I would have to pay them $150.00). RED FLAGG, RED FLAGG ALERT!! This alone should have set the warning bells in my head off but I am in a tough situation because I needed somebody to unclog my pipes. But wait, it gets better. The A-1 operator told me that I should have my drains snaked with a camera. When I inquired about the cost, I was told that it would be an additional $150.00, bringing my bill up to $300.00 regardless of whether any work would be performed. However, if work was performed and the problem reoccurred within 60 days, there would be no charge to come out an re-do the work. I declined the use of the camera but agreed for the service call. Oh, did I mention that the $150.00 charge was for the first 1-hour of service and that any additional hours would cost me $80.00 per/hr!! In all of the years of using Angie's List, I have never been told by any contractor/service provider that I would have to pay an up-front fee for services, even if services were not rendered or for any service provider to come to my home, just to investigate a problem. In the Commonwealth Courts in our great state of Pennsylvania, this is referred to as FRAUD. I have had plumbing companies, electrical contractors, heating and cooling companies come to my house to see if work needed to be done and on occasion, I was told by those contractors that I did not need the work and there was going to be......NO CHARGE!!! On rare occasions, small repairs were done with little to no charge at all. Now I'm not looking to have work done for free but in some situations, the contractors wanted me to use them for future work and/or refer them to others for work. Basically nice people, who knew how to get business, treat customers and get the job done. But, ignoring all of my gut instincts and that little nagging feeling that comes from years of relying on my gut instinct to avoid problematic situations, I stupidly agreed to have A-1 come and do the work. I decided this on the basis of all the great work I have had done in my home, from the companies listed, here on Angies list, it should be no problem. Right? After agreeing to the service call, the operator told me that I would be getting a call back from an A-1 contractor to schedule an appointment time. After hanging up, I waited about 30 minutes and got a call from a person who asked me what the problem was. I asked them if they could come out "today" and was told no. So much for "same day service". However, if I did want them to come out after 4pm, I would be charged something like $185.00/hr. No thank you, I said and was told that they could come out the following day, between the hours of 9:30 am and 12pm. After hanging up the phone, I began rearranging my schedule for the following day so I could be home to meet the A-1 technician. (this means taking time off of my job to be home) Not a true hardship but mildly inconvenient. Lucky for me, i have a job where I can do this. So here's where my problem with A-1 really comes into play. This morning, about 8:30, I got a call from a person from A-1 telling me that they were going to be able to come to my house between 11am and 3pm. I told the gentleman that I was told the day before that A-1 was going to show up at my house between 9am-12pm. Then I was told in a very rude and mean tone that that was "NOT GOING TO HAPPEN". No apology for mis-communicating the time, or "I'm sorry for the mix up sir, we're busier than usual this morning"....nothing, no common courtesy, absolutely no regard for customer service whatsoever. I was really shocked by the attitude of the guy on the other line. Seeing as how I rearranged my day as to be home between those hours and had to be back at work by 1:30 at the latest, I told the guy on the phone that I would have to cancel their service call. His response was.....and I'm not kidding......"whatever" and then hung up on me. LOL. No, I'm sorry or what can we do to remedy this situation, nothing about rescheduling, just a "whatever" and click. WOW!! Now I know what you are thinking about me..... this guy is just being overly sensitive, no contractor, listed via Angie's List would ever be as callous or foolish on the telephone to a customer, right? Well, I'm here to tell you that it's true. I have worked in the public eye for many years. As a waiter/bartender all thought college and grad school, so I'm used to quality of care and customer service and I know how people like to be treated. I work in a professional field nowadays and customer service and working with the public is a big part of what I do in my career. This experience with A-1 really shocked me. I am still unsure of how they received so many positive reviews?? In my opinion I would strongly advise anybody from using the services of A-1 sewer cleaner. They must have so much business that they don't know what to do with themselves. I saved myself a lot of money and hassle by not having these clowns come to my home. If you're in business to do business, then act like a professional. I can only speculate that any work A-1 would have done would have been of poor quality I hope that this review of A-1 service's, lack of professionalism will benefit all of my fellow Angie's List subscribers make the right decision and NOT do business with A-1. Fabulous. I called just after 12 Noon and a rep got back to me within 1/2 hour and stated the cost and that a technician would be at my home before 4 PM. The technician showed about 2:30 PM and was gone by 3 PM. He cleared the drain and was very helpful with the questions I had about roof drains. He was courteous, quick and efficient. I will definitely use this company again:)

Noticed basement drain backup on Sunday. Called Mr. Rooter at 412-423-8979. Their technician Erik came afternoon. Unfortunately, he was not able to open the drain. He told me that the house trap is broken and needs to be replaced. The estimate was $4,800. Paid $95 just for an attempt to open the drain. To get second opinion, called A-1 Sewer on Monday. They came same day and finished the work in 10 minutes. They told me that everything is fine. Paid $150. These guys are real professionals. They do only drain cleaning and are very good at that. Their worker told me in advance that they do not charge if they are not able to open the drain.

We had a recurring sewer backup in our basement. We had a different plumber come to "fix" the problem a few months prior, but when it recurred, we called A-1 Sewer. They came the next day for service. The first team that was here encountered a problem with their equipment, but they were able to call out another team and still perform the service the same day. They were able to successfully clear the line all the way to the mainline on the back of our property, cutting through tree roots along the way. They were polite and explained the services performed in detail. I like that sewer cleaning is the only job - I felt a lot moreconfident that they weren't going to try to sell me on replacing lines or other extensive work. They also offered a 30 day guarantee, which we thankfully have not had to use. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with sewer problems.

Within one hour of calling and requesting service I received a call. The guys came explained the process and cost they where professional, cleaned up the area. I would definitely use this company again!

We thought that this was a recurrence of a problem that has been going on for years, it was not. We have used this company more times than I would like through no fault of theirs (our system) and they have always been there,promptly,professional,courteous and very reasonably priced. I would and have recommended them to friends and family.

A in every category, with one exception....very quick response in returning phone call, but if your plumbing concern is NOT an emergency your appointment gets moved around a bit. It's happened twice, the first time I called for scheduled maintenance ....the second time (year or so later) my toilets were gurgling overnight and I was concerned there was a clog but nothing of an emergency. my appointment was moved around again, so much so that I used a local plumber my friend recommended who came the next day! When scheduling be firm with day and time, and that would keep them an A+ provider in my book!

Great!! The men were right on time, very clean and professional, and they came the same day I called.

I called early in the morning and they were there within 2 hours. A Plumber the night before could not get the clog open and suggested I call A-1. They were there less than an hour and opened the clog. I have already recommended them to several people.

These folks at A1 were amazing. We developed a problem and called a local company that was highly recommended to fix it. The local guys came in, did not even try to fix the problem, charged $269 for using a camera when we didn't ask them to, and then wanted $2,500 to dig up the basement. Their story didn't make sense, so we turned to Angie's List for a second opinion. We spoke with Monte, an employee who told us if another company could get a camera to the city sewer line, he was pretty sure he could get his equipment into the same area. He gave us a firm hourly rate to come in and try to clear up the problem--and he even had to drive to get there. He showed up on time, was neat, courteous and offered to use a trap door to bring his equipment in, and he figured out what to do on his own. He was polite and knew his stuff. He had the problem cleared up in less than an hour, and he said his work is guaranteed for two months. Everything A1 says on its web site is true. I would use them again and recommend them in a heartbeat. They won us over and saved us thousands of dollars.

They came out the same day I called and it was after hours. I had a clogged sewer line that one plumber was able to come and take care of that for me. It took him about 15 minutes. I liked that they were responsive and picked up my call. I was satisfied with their service.

They were professional, solved the problem. They were a little expensive, but not too bad.

They were able to get it opened but had to call them back a few weeks later to do again. They gave us a 60 day warranty so we didn't have to pay for it.

The 'problem' was quite a ways in, but they kept adding extenders until they ran into some tree roots 100 feet or more down the line. The drilled it out, water was flowing, and the drain was clear. They retrieved all the extensions, cleaned up and were on their way. The cost was reasonable and fair, I thought. And they told me that any problems with the drain within 30 days (I think that was it) would be covered for no extra charge.

The drains backed up into the basement due to a blockage in the sewer line. I was going to use my home warranty, but they couldn't come out until thursday. The receptionist that answered the phone was pleasant and courteous. She answered all of my questions. Marc and Dale ended up arriving a couple hours later than expected due to a job taking longer than expected, but the same day service was all that i required. They were very courteous and quick with the job. They were in and out in less than a half an hour. Even gave me some tips on maintenance and keeping the sewer clear. If my drains ever back up again, they will be my first call. Dealing with specialists that only clear drains, I didn't have to worry about someone coming in and gouging me with unnecessary repair.
