A1 Sewer Cleaning Specialists

A-1 was fine. They did their job, and charged me the price quoted ($159). For about 20 minutes of work, it's expensive, but when you have water on your basement floor, you're not picking and choosing prices. I would use this company again.

Called the afternoon of Super Bowl Sunday, expecting to leave a message to set up an appointment for Monday. (Steelers won!) Surprised and grateful to speak directly with a person instead of voicemail. Representative very knowledgable on how to help me best describe the problem. Received a call at 8:15 the following day to schedule an appointment, and was told to expect someone to stop by between 10 and 11 AM. Crew arrived exactly as scheduled, was very patient in answering all of my questions, extremely swift and tidy in snaking out the line.

I call A-1 in the morning and told them what I thought I needed. They put a service call out and I got a response in about an hour. I was at work which is about thirty minutes from my house so they said call after they put me on one of their service van's routes, so they would give me enough time to make it home and meet them there. The guys on the job were professional, courteous and neat. They cleaned the drains and cleaned up after themselves. It was a very good experience.

Two downspout drains were clogged causing ice to flow across my driveway. A1 arrived promptly and attempted to open both drains. They reported that one seemed to be crushed. I already suspected this due to a driveway replacement a year earlier and my own unsuccessful efforts to open it. The second was cleared and now runs freely. An unexpected bonus was that the technician showed me how I could divert the flow from the clogged downspout to the open one without having to dig up a one year old concrete driveway. The fix was simple. I did it myself for under $50 in parts, and life is good again. Very helpful and professional.

They call you back right away. They give you a call and tell you when they will be here and are always prompt. The workers are always courteous and make sure they do not make a mess. If they do make a mess, they always clean up after themselves.

It was excellent. They came on time and were polite. They did what they said they were going to do and at the price they said they were going to charge.

Basement drain started to back up on a Sunday. Called our usual guy but his snake was broken. Checked Angie's List, found few options. Had to leave messages for 2 others, but at A-1 I called and got a person on the phone. She quoted me the price and let me know up front about the extra charge. They seemed pricey, but we wanted it fixed immediately. She said she'd have a field guy call me and tell me when he was going to be there. Calvin called about 30 minutes later to say he could be there within the hour. He showed up, got right to work and was done in about 30 minutes. He was friendly, not perturbed about working on a Sunday. Work is guaranteed for 60 days.

We were selling our former home, which had been vacant for about a year. A home inspection indicated that the four underground downspout drains were clogged. A plumbing company was called, and they tried unsuccessfully to clear the drains. They said that the drains couldn t be cleared and that they would have to be replaced. This would involve digging up all the drain lines out to the street, breaking up sections of sidewalk, laying new drain lines, and then patching sidewalks when finished. An estimate was given of more than $4,250.00. We then called A1 Sewer Cleaning Specialists and left a message with their answering service. The owner, Bill McGavern, called back within 15 minutes. Mr. McGavern was put in touch with our Realtor, and arrangements were made to have an A1 serviceman meet the Realtor at the home that same day. A1 cleared all four drains in an hour and 15 minutes. No digging. Total bill was $229.99. They saved us over $4,000 and we didn t have to dig up the entire property. They lived up to the advertising on their web site, which says something like "Call Before You Dig." We open your drain, not your wallet. Excellent company!

They were reliable and very good at what they did. Another plumbing company estimated 500 to do the same job that A1 did for $140.

My experience with this company was great. I already had backup into my basement when I called the company and their prompt response was more than appreciated. This is in sharp contrast to a plumber we used 2 months prior for the same problem who charged us more, told us we had no roots in the line, and obviously didn't do a thorough job.

It went great. They rescheduled for me, because of my schedule, though they would have sent someone same day without an extra charge. They are upfront about their prices, and honestly, it was excellent work. The guy they sent was knowledgeable, went over his findings, and also taught me how my basement drains are setup, and was very helpful in pointing out some "normal/best practices" used in the industry for future reference (clean outs near the exit train in my poured concrete basement). He looked at the downspouts, snaked them, and verified they were routed correctly and working. Just needed water and power for his machines. He was highly efficient, knowledgeable, and on took 45 min, so the charge was less than the actual hourly I was expecting. I recommend them whole heartedly, though they charge by the hour and are a bit expensive, they don't milk it. Also, the technician placed a tag on one of the water heaters with a drawing of the sewer system for future reference!!

After calling the company, I received a return call in about 15 minutes. After I explained the problem, Mark and Curtis came to my house within an hour. The cleared the drain and then explained some other problems that have to be addressed within the near future. Although they do not replace entire sewer lines, they patiently explained what the problems were and how they should be corrected. I was very impressed with the information they provided.

The company responded the same morning that I called them. First they tried a small snake which did not work. They had to remove the toilet and use a larger snake to remove the rag. They cleaned up afterwards.

They were thorough, neat and they did quality work. They arrived on time and did a very good job for a reasonable price. I really liked the fact that they left a sticker on the lines for future references, in case we have another problem.

My phone call was returned within an hour and the service crew was on site within four hours. Crew was polite and efficient. They completed the work quickly. The recent heavy rain has proven that they fixed the problem. The price was acceptable. We are pleased with A-1's work.

I called them, and they returned the call and made an appointment for the next day. The appointment was kept and they arrived on time. They investigated the problem, cleared the drains, and suggested a plumber to handle replacement of the broken trap. The shower and toilet drains are still running perfectly. Bill informed me up front that they charge by the hour, and do not estimate. I was completely satisfied with the work. I was also very happy with the workers who made a good effort to avoid damaging plants, etc, in the area. They did a good job on cleanup.

They came an hour after I called for service. They were professional and efficient. Our sewer line was unclogged in 45 minutes.

Our sewer backed up and flooded the cellar on a Sunday morning, after our daughter flushed hundreds of flushable baby wipes. A-1 responded promptly, and came out to clean the sewer first thing on Monday morning. I was very pleased with the service and quick response. The plumbers were very polite and careful not to dirty the floors of our house. They cleaned up after themselves (of course we had to clean the cellar and contents ourselves).

I have used them in the past & they are great. They had to come out a few times. They came within an hour or two of my call & took care of my problem.

Originally scheduled a very early Saturday appointment. Called an hour before to say that there were emergencies that had happened overnight. They asked me if I would mind moving the time a little later in the day. I agreed with no problem (figuring that if I had a sewage emergency that I would want them at my house ASAP). Had I not agreed, they would have been at my house at the previously assigned time. They arrived on time, were courteous, and efficient and offered advice on how to AVOID future problems with our sewer line. Will use again for any sewer needs.

Great! I found this company on Angie's List and my membership has paid for itself in one visit! I had two other plumbers assess the situation and both determined that I needed an expensive and hard-to-come-by hydro-jet at a minimum cost of $500 and a wait that was longer than I was willing to go with two kids and no functioning sewer drain. I called one plumber who determined (over the phone) that he would have to rip up my brick driveway! Another company promised to come back first thing in the morning and then delayed until after noon... but that's another story. These guys came out within a couple hours and had the problem solved within twenty minutes. They were wonderful, courteous, professional and honest. They did not have to hydro anything and they came in a cool $320 under the rest. I told them I found them on Angie's List and they said they hear that a lot. Thank you Angie's List! Thank you A1!

They arrived promptly 20 minutes after they called to tell me they'd be there. Very prompt, friendly, efficient, were actually shocked at how clean the line was, and admitted it rather than try to sell me something. Would recommend them, and will use for any future sewer needs.

I phoned them Sunday evening and got their answering service. 15 minutes later an employee returned my phone call and we set an appointment for the next morning between 8am - noon. Monday morning they phoned me and they specified 9:30am. They arrived at my house at 9:35am. It took them only 45 minutes to open the blockage. They had to temporarily move my upstairs toilet about 2 feet to open up a path for their electric eel. They fixed the problem, returned the upstairs toilet to its original position, cleaned up the bathroom, and used a plunger to open up the sink in the basement. They were punctual, worked fast, polite, did a good job of answering my questions, and did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. Only 1 small glitch: they didn't bring rags with them so I had to supply them with some rags to clean up the bathroom. But they (Monte and Chris) did a very good job and I recommend them to other home owners.

They were very prompt and courteous. They seemed very knowlegdable but didn't talk down to me. They were good at cleaning up whatever mess was made, and removing back any furniture they moved to get to the drains.
