R.J Dalzell Painting & Contracting

When Ray Dalzell and his employee Jimmy Beltz came out on 12/07/12 I told them I had already purchased the paint.They looked at it and when they saw that it was exterior paint to cover metal, they said it was the perfect paint for the job. Ray then left and Jimmy started to paint the garage door and the columns. He was done in a very short time and said that it would just take a few hours for the paint to dry. Everything looked very nice when he was done and I had no reason to think that anything was wrong. However just a couple months later all the paint started to peel off the bottom of the columns and garage door. I kept trying to call Ray Dalzell but I just kept getting his voice mail and never got a call back. In all fairness, when he did call me back I told Ray that a deer had hit the garage door and he said that was why the paint was peeling. I told him that the deer didn't hit the columns. Then he told me I had gotten the wrong paint. I told him he said it was the "perfect paint for the job". I then told him that we had a contract and asked him what he was going to do to honor it. I also told him that it looks like Jimmy never sanded the old metal on the garage door or columns before he painted them and that's why they're peeling. Even I know that you have to sand the old paint before you paint over it. That's why he finished the job so fast. After a few more excuses why he shouldn't have to honor the contract he finally said he would fix the problem but I would have to buy the new paint even though I had already paid for the original paint. He said that was the only way he would do the repainting so I agreed. He said he would call me back to set up a date to do it and I never heard from him again. I called him a few more times that fall, but my father had terminal cancer and I was his primary caregiver so this took a backburner at that time. I called him again during the winter of 2013/2014 and got his voicemail. I left a not-so-friendly message, still no response. I gave him one more chance to respond and told him that if I didn't hear from him with 2-3 hours I would start filing complaints and court papers against him. Here we are 1 1/2 years later and my garage door and columns look awful and I have had to hire someone else to fix them.
