Hufnagel Electric

He was going to check on the replacement needed and call me back within a week or two. He called and said he is still looking for a replacement and will follow up once this has been found. He was very professional when he was here but has still not located the parts. Jason received the part, scheduled appt., and installed last week. The old fan was very old and the new fan would not fit exactly. So Jason and his father had to make some alterations to the housing to make it fit. Jason and his father work well as a team and are professional and friendly. Would highly recommend.

I could not be happier with Hufnagel Electric. Jason and his father arrived on time and were very knowledgeable. They fixed all the issues I had and their quality of work was superb. I have an older 1940s home and needed many outlets grounded and some older switches and outlets replaced. They were able to ground my outlets affordably and fix all my other issues. They also answered all questions I had and explained how things worked. I am very satisfied and will be using Hufnagel Electric in the future for all my electrical needs.

Went excellent from start to finish

Jason was quick to get back to me after I left a message. He understood that the work needed to be completed pretty quickly. He was able to fit me into his schedule. During the kitchen work, we were told by the kitchen installer that the microwave outlet was in the wrong place. Jason was able to come out the next day to move the outlet. This was very helpful because the rest of the kitchen remodel was able to stay on track. jason was very courteous and answered all my questions. He was prompt and was able to work when I needed him.

Jason and his Dad were pretty awesome. They were very punctual and polite and worked under frigid conditions to get my power on so i could get started on the rest of the work in the house. I am very pleased with their work and i think they gave me a very fair price. My only complaint is a little one that i overlooked on the paper work: they charge the 4% fee for card payments. That being said their workmanship was worth the extra 4% when it was all said and done. I would use them again in future but plan to pay cash and save the money.

As was the case during the first visit Dave and Jason made to my home for other work, the individuals arrived within the time window that was provided to me, and the service was performed expertly, and with the utmost in courtesy, graciousness, and professionalism. This work was expensive, but I understand that one must be prepared to pay top dollar for individuals that are the best in performing complex work such as this, work which they made look easy. I would call Hufnagel Electric first for future electrical needs and would highly recommend the company to anyone in need of electrical service. You will not be disappointed.

We found them to be very courteous and professional. He was punctual, showing up first thing in the morning when we called for the appointment the night before. He was knowledgeable and patient when explaining to me the issue and how he was going to fix it. Overall a very postitive experience. We will certainly call on them again for any electrical needs we have in the future.

This company was phenomenal to work with. They were extremely knowledgable and considerate while working. Being new to the area, we were looking for someone reliable and trustworthy to work on the house we had just bought. Hufnagel Electric was recommended to us and we are so happy we chose to work with them. A great experience!

Finding companies like this was the reason I joined Angie's List! Jason was extremely responsive, professional and efficient. Scheduling the appointment was really easy, and he arrived promptly. He was then able to quickly figure out the problem. He kept us informed about what he was doing to fix the issue and how much it was going to cost. The cost was less than we had anticipated, so we asked him if he'd be willing to replace a few other outdated outlets while he was here. He agreed, gave us the price, and did the additional work. We were so impressed with his service, we actually asked him for quotes on some bigger wiring projects we've been considering. We will definitely be working with him in the future. A+ experience!

I live in a 90 year old home. Typical Beechview house with 80-90 year old knob and tube wiring. I have been haunted for years about my old wiring catching fire so I finally decided to have a home electrical inspection. Wow, forget the crappy job the inspectors did when we bought the house 13 years ago... I can't believe they let my house pass inspection!! Anyway, Dave and Jason Hufnagel, a father and son team, gave me a fair and THROUGH estimate for the things in my house that needed corrected to make it safer. They worked tirelessly, basically gutting the crap in my basement ceiling rafters, then went room to room and checked every outlet and switch. They fixed outlets that hadn't worked for years and found a couple that should have burned my house down years ago. After two and 1/2 days of hard work, I have a house that I can feel safe living in. They are even submitting my breaker box to the city for inspection...a Pittsburgh requirement that I didn't even know about and that was not done when we purchased the house. A few questions for you. Do you feel safe living in your home? Do know know if any dangers lurk in your walls? Pittsburgh city homeowners, did you know that your breaker box has to be inspected in order for your home to be covered by your home owners insurance for fires caused by your faulty wiring? If you answered NO to any of these, hire this team! You will NOT regret it. Thanks again Dave and Jason :-). CORRECTION: In the section below where it asks for words of advice before hiring these contractors... I meant "LITTER" box, not little box.

It went great! I selected this contractor based upon its Angie's List ratings and I was not disappointed. The father and son technicians provided a same-day appointment, which I appreciated, particularly given my concern about the electrical problem that had recurred in the past day. In advance of their arrival, I received by e-mail a contract noting the service charge of $40 and $100 per hour fee. They arrived within the two-hour window that I was provided. I signed the contract upon the beginning of the visit. Dave and Jason could not have been more professional, friendly, courteous, and kind. I have every reason to believe that the problem was solved through the replacement of a bedroom electric outlet after a thorough, effective, and speedy analysis. I was kept apprised at every step of the work and given appropriate options with fees noted. I also believe I was dealt with honestly and fairly; there was no effort to sell me any service that I did not need or to pad the bill in any way. Few companies have been as forthcoming with me as Hufnagel Electric as to what to expect, including charges. Jason noted the time that the work was begun and wrote it on my copy of the contract. This reassures the customer as to the appropriateness of the fee. I am planning to have Hufnagel Electric perform additional, more extensive work in the days to come, and look forward to doing so with complete confidence.

I had a positive experience with Hufnagel. They came to hook up a new circuit, that I had installed, to the breaker box and to review my work for any problems. They did find an issue with my work and fixed it. When the electrical inspector reviewed their work and mine he requested changing the breaker to an arc fault breaker. Hufnagel returned to replace the breaker at no additional cost. They were on time to both of our meetings and went out of their way to work on Saturday to fit my schedule.

Great service! Jason quickly responded to my inquiry and came to get the work done the next day. He was very professional and pleasant to communicate with. Will definitely use their service again in the future.

He called 30 minutes beforehand to tell me he was coming. Overeall, my experience with him was excellent. No only does he possess excellent electrical skills but the same applies to his human relations ones. Color me one safisfied customer.

Hufnagel did not show up to perform the work we contracted for, and they did not call to inform me they were not coming or provide any explanation. I took a day off work for this work to be performed. While my previous review was positive, I can no longer endorse the company and I recommend against hiring. I would normally not leave a negative review of a company, but since I previously left a positive review, it is only fair to inform users of Angie's List that the provider is not necessarily trustworthy to perform work as agreed. That said, the work performed previously was well done.

It was a challenge to schedule given their workload and mine, but compared to other experiences I have had it was relatively easy. Jason and his father were both knowledgeable, diligent, patient, and friendly. They completed the work for the prices quoted even given extra time required for unexpected difficulties encountered from previous sub-standard work. They could not finish the outdoor work due to rain, so I can update my experience once that is complete.

I reached out to Hufnagel several weeks ago about adding a new electrical outlet in my bedroom. They were quick to respond and I was able to get something scheduled fairly quickly. They today within the time window they had given me, and were very quick and easy to deal with. They did an excellent job at the outlet, and were also able to fix some troublesome wiring in my attic while they were at it. They were very courteous, and took care to clean up after themselves. A great experience and I would highly recommend them!

We intended to replace the dining room chandelier ourselves, but when my husband and I loosened the old fixture there was a tangle of wires, and we immediately gave up on figuring it out. Unfortunately we couldn't get the old fixture back in place and since we couldn't leave it dangling by the wiring, my husband cut the wires - which meant we had to leave the breaker off and an entire section of the house was in the dark. I started calling electricians with lots of good reviews first thing Monday morning, intending to hire the electrician who could do the work Monday or Tuesday. Hufnagel Electric wasn't the first company I called, but they were the first company to answer the phone! Jason listened patiently to my story and told me they could do the work Tuesday evening. He reassured me of his professional expertise with his explanations of what they might find. I was also impressed by his professional courtesy as he explained what the charges would be depending on what they found, and when he said they would call 30 minutes before arriving. On Tuesday he called to say they would be maybe five minutes (!) later than what they promised, and I was pleasantly surprised that they considered it even necessary to call for such a short delay. When Jason and his dad arrived, they were perfectly professional and courteous and did exactly what was needed. I think it was less than 30 minutes later we had our lovely new dining room light installed. I couldn't be happier with my experience. We have an old house that needs its wiring completely updated, and I am sure we will be calling Hufnagel Electric again.

It took very little time to diagnose and fix the problem (about an hour, or less). Jason is very professional and knowledgeable about his trade. He was punctual, and he returned to my house an hour later to check on a small problem that occurred after he fixed the main issue. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the work performed. I'd gladly hire them again because I feel I can trust them. In fact, I intend to hire them again to replace a motion sensor light in my backyard.

This company was recommended not only by other Angie's List members, but by neighbors in our housing plan. I was very pleased with the work that they did. They arrived on time and completed the work nicely. Jason came out to do the quote and I felt that he was very knowledgeable and willing to explain things in a way that I could understand. My home is much more comfortable and brighter now and I don't feel uneasy about my electrical system anymore.

I started some geeky home hobby electronic projects in an home office on our 2nd floor. Interestingly enough, when I was busy burning my hands with my new soldering iron, our first floor hallway light and porch light stopped working. Looked up reviews on Angie's list, called Hufnagel. Jason Hufnagel came out, and on inspection said that I had a compact CFC bulb for indoors installed on my porch lamp. Here's the deal... He asked if I had another bulb (which I did) and that if I put it in the porch lamp and it works, no charge, he is on his way. That's rare now-a-days. I tried the new bulb, no dice. He inspected the basement box, it was not grounded!! He looked at our usage, looked at our 2nd floor and listend to my electrical needs from my new hobby. He was set to replace the switches on our first floor (turns out they were like 35 years old or something) and take off. BUT I asked for his opinion on our house electrical system. He said we should think about upping our amps from 150 to 200 and replace the old secondary box on the 2nd floor. He fixed the switches in our hallway and the lights were back on. I asked him for a quote for the 200 amp service, my wife and I discussed it and we had him back a week later. He did everything in one day (new boxes, 200 amp service, groded the new basement box) and was VERY good about explaining what he was doing and presented options based upon price and need. Totally let us decide, no push, no selling. It has been a number of months since the service, not one trip to the circuit breaker (which happend occasionally), everything fine. Forogt to mention that he also installed an outlet in our basedment for our treadmill. He was professional, efficient, and took things step by step. He gets my first call should I have an issue with anything electical again.

The job was done with expert precision and we are extremely satisfied with the work done. Original estimate of costs was accurate and work was done on time based on our needs. In addition they were extremely professional and friendly even taking time to chat with my children about what they were doing. I have and will continue to suggest Hufnagel Electric to any of our friends or neighbors.

I spoke to the electrician and within a few hours he was able to stop by to install the circuit. He was extremely professional -- explained the alternatives that were available and quoted an estimate over the phone. I would definitely hire this company again. The price was a little higher than I expected, but given the short turn around time, it was worth it.
