My husband and I had a Stickley table that was showing signs of wear with light scratches and discolored wood. We also had 4 chairs purchased with the table. ... 2 years later, we purchased 2 additional chairs. The company had changed the stain color to a darker cherry so they didn't come close to matching. Grimes stripped the table and all six chairs, along with the 2 leaves for the table, and refinished everything in a beautiful satin-finish dark cherry. Now, all pieces are identical and we could not be happier with the results. Grimes may not be the least expensive option for refinishing but, they are the best and are very knowledgeable. The craftsmanship was perfection. We could not have purchased a new dining set of this quality for anywhere near what we paid for the work. We love it.

I have a vintage (circa 1940's) carved and stenciled table and buffet. Although the table isn't large it is solid oak and very heavy. It had been mended inexpertly before I got it, however, and the table top was never securely attached to the legs. It got worse over time and eventually the legs were only attached to the top at one place. Grimes did a great job of repairing the table, which was tricky because of how the table was constructed. It is now completely stable.

About a year ago I had Grimes refinish a small desk. Cost was about $1600. A lot of money but they did good work except they had my piece for over a year. When I got it home my cat jumped on it and scratched it. I took the door to Grimes to have them refinish it. They had the door with a smaller than 2 inch scratch for a whole year. Work was never done. I took it in August 2019. Called in October - they were busy. Called in December - same story. Called in March, June, July and August 2020. Now it was backed up because of Covid. But they had it 6 months before any lockdown. So very disappointed. Also never even uttered the words We’re sorry.

Fabulous! The staff were wonderful. I had a large selection of fabric to choose from, and the associate was very helpful in suggesting the proper fabric for this particular chair. When the chair was returned to be with the new fabric, I was amazed at how great the chair looked. It was recovered beautifully. I was extremely pleased with the final result. I highly recommend Grimes for anyone wanting to reupholster a piece or pieces of furniture.

Chair repair done very well, but was fairly expensive.

Unfortunately replacements parts are no longer manufactured . To construct a custom made part was too expensive. The representative from Grimes, Dwayne, was able to reverse the direction of the wooden piece so that the slider was functional. He also lubricated the drawer so that is would slide in and out more easily. He gave me directions on how to handle the drawer so that this fix would work. He was very courteous and professional.

The new cane work was perfectly done, the color is perfectly matched, the upholstery is beautiful. This was obviously done by craftsmen & artisans. I found the office staff to be efficient, communication was very good. Mr Grimes was prompt, professional & personable, patient & thorough in answering questions. Most of all, he is obviously highly enthused on his subject. I am very pleased & will use them again. This is the place to go with an antique or a valuable piece.

Dwayne was punctual, responsive and professional, but most of all the quality of the work was exceptional. I have already sent another chair for him to refinish.

Grimes Interiors did a wonderful job refinishing a 100+ year old family heirloom table. The price initially surprised me, however the end result is priceless and worth every penny. Their meticulous care and attention to detail is evident in their work. They even found and included a skeleton key to lock and unlock the drawers, which had been long missing. The table looks like a completely different/new piece of furniture which will continue to remain a beautiful antique for years to come.

This is my second (stellar!) review for Grimes Interiors. We had a round oak dining room pedestal table with ball-and-claw feet plus one leaf that was in really rough, raw shape - it had survived a couple of moves, water damage, being used as a "hold-everything" table in the garage and an amateur attempt at stripping & sanding. Our plan was to use this table in the dining room of a house we were in the midst of renovating so we took the table to Grimes in July or August, saying we'd be able to take it in about a month or two. As it turned out (as remodeling often does), we weren't ready for it until January! Dwayne was kind enough to hold it in storage for us when it was done in September. He and another gentleman delivered it the second week of January - I absolutely could not believe it was the same sorry bedraggled table that we had dropped off! I had requested a medium brown finish and was thrilled with the gorgeous walnut color that was applied - it works perfectly with my hardwood floors and chairs. The finish is as smooth as satin and the swatches of woodgrain detail practically pop off the top with rich, deep color that reminds me of tiger stripes. Looking beyond the eye-catching top to the pedestal base and leaf, every crevice of the egg-and-dart border to the tips of the ball-and-claw feet have been skillfully cleaned, sanded, stained and finished. It is now justifiably the heirloom centerpiece of our dining room. Along with true craftsmanship, it's obvious from first contact through delivery that everyone at Grimes takes pride in their work and doing an honest job. It's very refreshing these days to find a treasure such as Grimes Interiors - thank you so much!

This chair was about 40 years old and my favorite "easy chair'. It had been reupholstered twice previously. Grimes did a restoration on my piece -- it is better than I remember it when new! I had it done in leather, which is the reason for the relatively high cost. Also, the piece was unusual and required quite a bit of labor. I would recommend them highly, especially if you have a special piece that you wish a top flight restoration done on!! They put the previous upholstery shop to shame with this job!

Nice people. They are punctual and completed the job in the stated time frame. Both the table and the cedar chest look beautiful. I just think that the price was entirely too high.

Those chairs were 25 years and one 80 they came back like brand new, now way we could have replaced them for the price. Not a knick or drip. Came on time pick up on time. Dwayne knows his stuff. We have used them before, same experience.

Grimes did an excellent job for me. I had a sofa and chair made in the 1940's that I love. I bought them 43 years ago at an estate sale. They are well made and very heavy. I knew exactly what I wanted. Grimes came to my home with fabric samples. I chose the fabric I wanted and they took the furniture back to their shop the same day. Delivery was promised two and a half months later and it was delivered as promised. The pieces were beautiful! I was very pleased. This is not cheap. Unless you have expensive furniture it would be cheaper to buy new. However, if you have good pieces that you love reupholstering is the way to go. The sofa and chair cost $7,000 and I haven't seen anything in the stores that would be comparable. I plan on keeping this furniture for the rest of my life. I know that these pieces will look good for a very long time.

We had the service done during their peak time but it only took 5 weeks. Very happy with their service. Dwayne gave me an overview and what they did and what they discovered. They 100% stand by their work which is rare today.

1. I called about a small damaged piece of furniture. I was asked to come in 'the next day' and someone would look at it. 2. I brought in the item (a drive of over 30 minutes), and was told I would be called 'this afternoon'. No call was made from Grimes. 3. I called back 2 days later, left a message. No call back from Grimes. 4. Called 4 days later, and was told I would be called back. No call received from Grimes. 5. I picked up the piece because obviously the company was either too busy or not interested. That's fine, but then why was I asked to bring the piece in? I completely understand if a company does not want to do minor repairs or is too busy. In that case, the professional thing to do is to decline the work at the initial inquiry. Simply not calling when a promise is made to do so only frustrates the customer and gives the company a bad reputation.

we received our furniture in early December and Grimes did make it right and lived up to their quality guarantee. It took a long time but in the end we are happy with the final result.

Excellent work. Excellent service. Will use again if needed. Provided estimate on the spot when came to look at furniture. Was prepared with samples to chose from. Provided suggestions on what materials would look best on furniture. Provided approximate date of when the furniture would be done. Took furniture that day to service. Completed within timeframe. Delivered to new location without a problem. Price was high for job but worth it.

Provider was very knowledgeable, and did excellent work. Cost a bit more than I thought it would, but I knew that going in, as they gave me a price before doing the work. Very satisfied with results. Furniture looks good-as-new, and they reinforced the frame after they repaired it, so it is much stronger than it would have been if we'd have just bought a new sofa.

Repaired dining room table and now we can put the extensions in again. Very pleased with the repair.
