Well, there were even tons of prodding to get to this 'torn up' stage. Brian showed up very quickly for estimate, but once got deposit there had been no show and no call for delivering the work until we started prodding, then we got in this cycle -- he would say to call you a week later to let you know the starting date, but when a week passed, there was no call then we waited for a few days (give him the benefit of doubt) and called him. This cycle had been repeated 5-6 times until the end of Oct., we were really upset, then he finally showed up to mark the yard to start and said the excavator would come next day and also gave us the excavator's number. When the excavator did not show up the next day, we called him and he said he was not sure about taking on the job yet and he needed to come to estimate. Hello? don't you think things should be arranged between you two? After the estimate, the excavator said he'd give his price to Brian, if Brian agreed to pay, he'd come to do the dig. 2 days later, we confirmed with the excavator about the day for the dig. We had been doing this coordinating work, which should had been done by Brian. But when he came, he said if Brian did not pay him later, he'd bill us directly. We were shocked. When we complained it to Brian, he said the excavator should had done the dig because he bought all the framing supplies for starting next day, however, when 2 of his guys showed up 3 days later at 11:30 am of 11/3/2010 to start framing, they had to go to Homedepot to buy the supplies earlier. But at that time we were just glad work was started and finally felt relief, thought the work was going to be done after all, especially when we were told ours was pretty much last job of this year. (How wrong were we!) However, after 1/5 framing was done on 11/3, we have not seen any of them since. We've been complaining since Monday (11/8 ) because we could not bear to see these good weather days (straight 7-sunny-60-degree days) in Nov being wasted, which was our last chance to get it done and don't forget our work was their last job, how could they not show up? Where are they? We could not image they stay at home and do nothing as their work is done in no rainy & cold days. And today (11/13, Saturday) we feel extremely angry as Brian told us so sure that 3 of his guys would start & finish framing today and get it poured tomorrow. We got up earlier today and waited and waited, no body showed up and no phone returned, certainly no warning last night from him -- nothing!!! Now we have this torn up yard from the drive way all the way to backyard and the side yard killed by excavator's tractor. Our dog has to go to front yard to pee & poo and gets tangled with trees. Every time my car backs out garage, I'm afraid the wheels would fall into this 7 inches deep ditch, not mention the mud and dust... This whole ordeal with Brian is very frustrating and horrible, which I have not experienced with any other contractor. Prodding him has been our second job for last 2 1/2 months, yet no success. He just simply does NOT deliver the work, not mention returning the call on time, showing up on time, and calling to warn if not showing up -- just let you wait and guess...
Description of Work: Planned to get extended driveway, pathway and patio done, it was scheduled for the week of 8/23/2010, but as today (11/13/2010), we have torn-up yard with 1/5 of wood frame in.

Mike started Wednesday with the taping and came Thursday they removed the sink and taped the stove. He left on Tuesday due to his illness and said that Brian would come on Wednesday. I am in a kitchen without a stove or sink or any running water. Luckily I have water delievered so I do have that kind of water. It has not been a good process or a good relationship. I have tried calling Brian several times and he will not answer his phone calls. I called him 4 times this morning.
Description of Work: Brian (the owner) is who I have been in contact with. He sent a fellow named Mike to do the job for concrete countertops. Mike is very ill and has throat cancer. He ended up having to go to the hospital with pneumonia. Mike said he would have come back and finish the work, but there wasn't enough material. Brian said, and gave me his word, that he would come and finish the job.

From start to finish the job was handled in a profesional workman like manor . the crew or the guys were curtious and polite at all times. I delt with Brian alot and we were a little upset with the weather delays but that is to be expected this time of year . Brian did stay in contact with me the whole time untill the job was completed. His two guys Adam and gabe really did try to please us . They worked with us about the colors to choose and it all came together perfect.
Description of Work: We had our driveway resurfaced alomg with our side walk.

The contractor took direction and design of the overall look of the job by the customer very well. The problem was the pace of the work. If you were not dangling a payment in front of him he wouldn't or maybe couldn't schedule the work in. The project took over a year to complete after much prodding. The decorative overlay failed immediately. Cracks developed in the driveway because the 1/2 inch stress relief joints were cut, not the 1 1/2inch which is recommended for a 6 inch think concrete slab. Surprisingly the contractor came back and said he would repair the owrk...Provided me a signed proposal that he would schedule the repair in 2 months I have talked to him several times and now he isn't returning calls.
Description of Work: Poured exposed aggregate driveway, formed steps to porch and pathway. Poured decorative overlay on concrete porch

Under new ownership, Custom Concrete Technology Of Pittsburgh was true to its promise to fix the botched job of the previous owners. The artisan they sent, Mike Tunder, was immaculate in his work and craft and the countertops now look like granite. The job was completed in 5 days total and both Brian and Mike kept in touch with us on a regular basis. We are grateful for Brian's professionalism and dedication to the job at hand and to Mike for his impecable artistic design.
Description of Work: Resurfaced Formica countertops to look like granite/marble with a concrete process that includes skim coat of concrete and then polymers and sealants. Chris Cotugno of Custom Concrete Technology Of Pittsburgh was the owner of the company at the time and we contracted him and his brother Bob to do this job, which was a horrible substandard job. The previous owners were unreliable; their work was below acceptable standards and their business practices were not honorable. It took until the new owner, Brian, purchased the company in the Summer/Fall of 2010 to get an artisan back to our home to remediate the countertops. We commend Brian for his commitment to the company and to his business standard to stand by a job that was performed by the prior owner.

The job was completed recently so I cannot vouch for its quality and longevity. They did not come on the day they said they would come. It was an outdoor job and the weather conditions were not conducive as it was raining. So they were delayed. They responded well. They paid attention to detail. They did not tear up the yard. We were not inconvenienced in any way. They came, completed the job and left. I really appreciate the way they did the job. Further, the wife of the owner brought a friend who was an interior designer. She helped me to choose the colors which really enhanced the look of our house. I appreciate that they went that extra mile to help us. We have received compliments from a lot of people about how good the house looks now.
Description of Work: Our driveway was recently resurfaced by Custom concrete technology of Pittsburg.
