They were very good and professional in preforming the work. However about 3 years after they completed the work, I called them to come and see the that the restoration work they had done was also rotting. It took them 3 months before they made an attempt to meet me but did not contact me when they arrived at my house. I then tried for over a year to get them to come back and observe their work and the problems. I would call or email once a month to set up an appointment. They always said they were very busy and would stop by when they were in my area. That has been going on for over a year and the still have not stopped by. They stopped responding to my requests for an appointment.
Description of Work: They replaced 2 windows and repaired approximately 18 other window which were about 15 years old and rotting. They used cedar wood for the repairs, which they stated would be good for at least 20 years. They also replaced 2 small decks.

We did not end up hiring Restore 'N More.
Description of Work: I emailed Restore 'N More to inquire about renovation of a 19th century property my husband and I recently purchased in Gettysburg, PA. Although located about an hour away in Manheim, PA, Restore 'N More is known in the Gettysburg area, having done a good deal of work locally, including completing the historical restoration of the Daniel Lady farm (this stone farmhouse was used as a field hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg, and is now the headquarters of Gettysburg's historical battlefield society) Also, Restore 'N More has a fabulous website with a wealth of photos of former projects. I found a lot of great information about historical restoration on their beautiful website. Restore 'N More is one of the very few central Pennsylvania companies I could locate online that specializes in the restoration and renovation of early homes. Anyway, I received a very prompt and professional response to my email. They heartily congratulated me on the purchase of my historical property. They were interested, and wanted to know if I was ready with an architect or drawings to work from. They said they could certainly send someone to the property (for a fee) to assess the viability of the project I had in mind. It was a very nice email, entirely friendly and professional. Well, we had owned the property for just a very short time and were not nearly far enough into the process to have an architect or drawings in place, so I thanked the gentleman and said it looked like we had some work to do before pursuing their services. I have no criticism of Restore 'N More. They are clearly a top-notch company. I should say that I was really looking for folks who invited collaboration, who would help me explore the potential of my property and develop the project rather than ask for completed architectural drawings. Probably naive on my part. I decided I should try to find a company that was smaller and closer to Gettysburg. Soon after this, I found someone else to collaborate with me on the renovation of my property, a small Adams County contractor named Luke Miller, who has had a hand in the restoration of several early properties in historic East Berlin, Pennsylvania. I found Luke through a friend who shares my old house passion. As it turns out, word-of-mouth is still the BEST way to way to learn about high quality local contractors and tradesmen in rural areas that are not yet well represented on Angie's List. The good local craftsmen are well-known to the community and don't have to advertise. They tend to be too busy working to take time developing websites. Renovating or restoring early properties involves a lot of detective work, peeling away layers, finding out about the historical construction techniques in the vicinity. It takes curiosity, patience and flexibility. At best it is indeed a collaborative process.
