+ -1 moreWe got an Angie's list Big Deal for electrical work and called the Electric Man to come out and complete a variety of services. We scheduled a day about 2 weeks after the call. The repair woman came out on time and worked through the day. After reviewing the work we wanted, she made some recommendations for further work that were safety related. She was able to complete the work in one day, though there were other recommendations that we have put off for the future. The price was competitive to other estimates we had received. The repair woman cleaned thoroughly after she was done, leaving no debris behind. I would highly recommend this company to others as far as proficiency, punctuality, professionalism and quality of work.

+ -1 moreI bought a "big deal" that allowed me to get $200 worth of services for $100. We've been having a problem with our doorbell and I was told that it needed a transformer upgrade, so I figured $200 would cover it and bought the deal. My one disappointment was that $200 did not cover it - I ended up spending another almost $200, for a total of about $300, but at least our doorbell now works. The problem is that just the diagnostic service was almost $200, and even though I told them what I understood the problem to be, they had to do their own diagnostic to confirm that (and i understand that, for the most part, customers are not correct in their assessment). At any rate, once they confirmed the diagnosis I needed to pay for a new transformer and the labor of installing it, which is where the extra $200 came in. It seemed like a lot at first, but when there was a slight problem with installation and the technician assured me that, whatever it required, I would have a working doorbell by the time the service call was over, I understood why the prices are so high. In the future I will definitely consider obtaining a bid from Electric Man on any electric work, but in terms of repair work it will depend on how much of an emergency it is.

+ 0 moreI called on Monday morning, and the call was answered quickly and politely. I was offered an Appt for the next day. Ruth arrived, shoe booties in hand crisply on time. She looked at the job, and calculated the price from a price book this company uses. She was very nice, and thorough explain the quote and the scope of work. Without making me feel pressured, she offered several additional services which I elected not to utilize. I do like the flat rate pricing concepts vs time and materials. The price and scope are agreed to up front. I had bought an Angies LIst deal, so really this work what have cost $450 without it, which I think is a bit high. That said the quality and care of Ruth's work was stellar. Tarps used to cover furniture and floor, booties always worn on the carper, and immaculate clean up including removal of the old fan and the packing from the new one. I was left with a nice info book about the company and a detail receipt. Excellent experience from beginning to end. I do think the value I received was very good, and I still would have felt that way had I not had the discount. I will uses the Electric Man again (although in our gas it was a gal). el pressured,
Description of Work: We needed a ceiling fan replaced in our valuted ceiling bedroom and don't have a ladder tall enough. Also wanted control upgrade as well to a remote control. We supplied all parts.

It was reasonable so he went ahead and did the work at the same time which took about a half hour. I placed my estimate date requests online and had a response the next day, with a confirmation phone call on the evening prior to the appointment. The electrician Jed arrived at 8 AM sharp and was professional and courteous. On the day of service he again arrived promptly and performed all services requested . He was professional and left my home cleaner that he found it! . I was extremely satisfied with the work and will definitely use this company for all of my electrical needs.
Description of Work: Ceiling fans installed, grounded outlets installed which required re wiring through the ceiling, and outside lightng fixture replaced.

+ -1 moreI was extremely impressed with this provider. Starting with the dispatcher who was polite and flexible in attempting to find someone to respond the same day I called. It was great to get a human being on the phone and not a voicemail. The contractor, Ronald Merker was prompt, very professional and respectful (not only in general but of my home in that he donned booties and cleaned up after himself). the contractor made a point of explaining everything including pricing thoroughly and patiently fielded my many questions. I will definitely use this provider again in the future.
Description of Work: The outlet/ switch that controls my garbage disposal was not working after having a brand new disposal intstalled. I contracted this provider to figure out the source of the problem which ended up being a loose wire.

It was nice to see him care about our safety. He honored a deal that we got from Angie's List, he came promptly, we did not have to wait one minute for him. He did a great job and was a really nice guy. We are going to have him come back over the next few weeks to finish the list off that he created, he was amazing to work with. I can't say enough good things about him or the company.

Description of Work: Ron was great. He detected that the wire leading from inside the house to the outside deck was inappropriate. He replaced that wire with a proper coded outside wire. Additionally, he replaced deck stair led rope lights that were not working.

+ -1 moreElectric Man gave an estimate of $300 per light, i.e. $3600 for the whole project. Another contractor gave an estimate of $2100 for the same work. So we decided on the spot not to use Electric Man. Despite of the unsatisfying price, the electrician they sent to do the estimate was nice and professional, and the experience was good.
Description of Work: Got a quote to install recessed lights in 3 rooms (4 lights per room). There is attic above all rooms and a ceiling light in each room, so there's no much complicated wiring work.

The quote was extremely high, it was more than double the range of what was expected for the job. I was in a time crunch and was going to go ahead and allow them to do the job if they could do it within two weeks. They were not able to do the job in the time frame I needed either.
Description of Work: I contacted the Electrical Man for an electrical estimate but we did not use him for services.

Ron arrived exactly on time, wore protective shoe covers in my home, and filled me in on his and his company's credentials. He explained in detail how they price their work, and the services they provide. I was pleasantly surprised that he could do the work on the same visit, no need to schedule another appointment. Ron found the problem in a switch located in another room, and fixed it. Very pleasant experience...we are putting our house on the market shortly, so Ron gave me some advice on some things a home inspector would look for. I will have them back to do any of this needed work.

He gave me a firm quotation before starting the work which he completed in a professional manner. I was able to save $100 by using a coupon available on Angie's List. Before he left, the technician gave me a written estimate for some additional electrical work I will need to have done.
Description of Work: A home inspection revealed that I needed to replace two GFI outlets in the kitchen, plus some faulty wiring in the panel had to be corrected.

Ron was prompt, polite and considerate of my floors (he wore booties over his work boots). I had a few jobs that needed to be completed and a few future ?wish list? jobs I wanted to receive a quote on. Ron took the time to write up each item and explain what each job would cost. I needed a dimmer switch installed and a chandelier hung in my dining room. Halfway through the job, Ron had the foresight to realize he needed to call in help due to the weight of the chandelier. Another technician arrived within the hour. I did not mind the extra time, as my chandelier is a Schonbek valued over $5,000. After the chandelier was hung and the switch was completed, Ron cleaned the area. I have many more items on my list. I will be calling Electric Man and Ron again in the future. I would recommend them to anyone seeking electrical work done in their home.

+ -1 moreRuth was absolutely wonderful - She was polite, professional, dedicated to her work and making sure we were happy. She spent roughly 3 hours trying to find the problem, and when she couldn't, suggested a worthwhile alternative that wouldn't break the bank. Using a coupon from Angie's List - (get $200 worth of work for $99) my out of pocket cost at the end of Ruth's visit was 30 dollars, and that was for half of the jack cost. This was definitely money well spent, and Ruth will certainly be getting our business in the future. She explained everything she was doing while we were in the room, and we felt comfortable enough with her to leave her to it. At certain points during her troubleshooting she would come find us and explain what issues she was coming across, and what she was going to try next, always keeping us informed of her actions. I was really impressed with her dedication - this was not an easy job.
Description of Work: We have been having problems with our phone service cutting in and out - The house is roughly 25 years old, and has all original "fixings" from plumbing, to wiring to outlets. The main phoneline comes into the house through the basement, and from there spliced throughout the house - There are at least 3 junction boxes in the basement, and they are all relatively old. At the time of the appointment, we had one phone working - because I plugged a phone wire from the EMTA, directly into the back of the phone (giving us ample opportunity to trip over the cord, as the phone was a good twenty feet away). The kitchen phone, and the bedroom phones had stopped working months ago. Ruth, the technician arrived, immediately put on protective booties, and took stock of the situation. She spent about half an hour trying to diagnose the problem, after getting my go-ahead to do the diagnostics ($175.00 roughly), she spent, easily, an hour to an hour and a half trying to figure out exactly what was causing the issue. Because of the age of the house, and the original wiring, she kept hitting problem after problem. She gave us a couple options - we could pay to have someone re-wire the outlets (a pricey project, she informed us), or she could try and find a work around and get us one base phone, and suggested using cordless phones throughout the rest of the house. The main outlet we were using was corroded, and Ruth replaced it for an addition small fee, with no issues. She managed to get the kitchen phone line working again, so now we have two functional bases in the house. All told, for something that was a diagnosis and jack replacement, Ruth spent almost 3 hours trying to figure out exactly what was wrong, and when she couldn't determine just one root cause, suggested a satisfactory work around.

After having an inspection, We found out that we needed a few electrical outlets replaced and some electrical wires secured properly. I called Electric Man and they immediately came out (that day). Not only did Master Electrician Jed give me an estimate, he was prepared to fix the problems that night! He was very courteous and professional. He even put little protectors over his shoes so he would not track dirt into my home. He worked fast and was very efficient. He also explained everything that he had done. The price was right! There were no hidden fees and the price he quoted was spot on. This is an excellent company! Extremely professional! I definitely would recommend them because I will be calling them for any future repairs.

Description of Work: Electric Man installed 2 ceiling fans in our new home. Both fans were installed in ceilings that had little or no attic access. We were concerned that it would not be possible to install one of the two fans , since the ceiling was approximately 18-20 feet high. Not only did Ron, the electrician sent by Electric Man, install both fans, he was able to do so with only a couple of small holes in the ceiling. We still marvel at how he did the job!

+ -1 moreWhen I contacted them earlier this week, they were able to schedule the service within the same week (today). They called last night to confirm they would arrive between 8 and 8:30am today. Due to rain and traffic, they were going to arrive closer to 8:15am-- they called me right at 8am to let me know about the minor delay (which was still within the original time window they had committed to). Upon arrival, she explained everything she was going to do. She donned shoe protectors when entering our house. Everything was done professionally, using high quality parts, and efficiently. She let me know about other parts and services we might consider in the future but didn't oversell in any way. I will definitely use them again for future electrical needs!

Once I authorized the job she went about her business preofessionally and at the end she reviewed with me what had been done and if I was satisfied. The cost for this work would have been more but I had a Angies List deal which pre-bought work at half price.
Description of Work: Cut back exisitng wiring run to an electric dryer to a new location and terminated ina plug receptacle versus old hard wired connection. Also replaced bad light socket with pull chain.

+ -1 moreI had him come out earlier. I got in touch with him and he sent out the same person and cleared up the issue to my satisfaction. The responsiveness was the best. They are coming back this month on the 16th to do additional work. At the time they came I thought it was a little bit high but when he came back the second time I asked him to give me a bid. I told him that he was aware of what the job was and he has already seen it so he has a better idea. He knocked down the price for the subsequent work. He knew now what he was doing and it was not going to be time intensive to him. It also showed he had integrity apart from the responsiveness. They are coming back and they would come back a 3rd time. I am separating the work because it is just the way I like things to be done. I am getting the same person who came out the last time and that shows consistency. He has an excellent demeanor and he is obviously well equipped to do the job. It doesn’t feel like you are getting some guy off the street who knows electric stuff. They do a free assessment of your electrical work and I had some work done when I had my renovation done. They dug my box and said so and so was he said this inspection would be pretty tough and normally you want a home which is up to specs. It goes to integrating things. They have integrity. The owner of the business obviously goes through a bidding process to get the people to work for him. The fellow that I got had all the qualities I have been looking for.
