The Electric Man's technician, Jeroen Eijskoot, was right on time, diagnosed the problems, and was very proficient in solving some complicated issues. I was very pleased with their service. As far as price goes, I did not put this out for bid as I wanted to get the work done rather promptly. I was given a firm price before the work commenced and I considered it to be fair. I would use these folks again. They are very professional and neat.
Description of Work: After a home inspection, we needed to eliminate a double tapped circuit breaker and replace lines to our outdoor air conditioner compressers. Other miscellaneous work was done to get our home updated for sale.

 + -1 moreIt took him awhile to figure out the problem for my wall switch, I really thought a little to long, but eveything works well now. I thought I could get more work done for 2 hrs., but like I said it took quit a bit of time to fiqure out how the switch was wired.

Description of Work: Employee was late. I explained I wanted a new 3 light fixture over the stove installed and have the the 3 ceiling lights hooked up to 3 separate dimmer switches. He worked up 2 quotes for the job, one with a maintence agreement and one without. i said I wanted the one without themaintenance agreement. He measured the wall for the 3 switches. Then he said he could hook up the new fixture to the recessed light over the sink. I told him no, I wanted 3 lights on 3 separate switches. Then he said he would go get his tools to hook up the 2 lights ogether, again I said I did not want that. When he came backin he said I'll get to work on hooking up these 2 lights together. For a rthird time I said no. He laid his tools out to start the job and looked at me and said I'll get these 2 lights hooked up. I looked at him and said, "ABSOLUTE NOT, I don't want that, it would look too strange. !" Finally, he knew exactly what I wanted. When he finished he asked to pay the bill. l went into the kitchen where the new 3 light fixture and the recessed light wer turned on. I asked him where the new dimmer switch was for the new light fixture. He didn't say anything, he just pointed to the wall again! I was so upset, he knew this was exactly what I didn't want. I told him this looked more bizare that I had even imagined.. You were supposed to install 3 lights on 3 dimmer switches. I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS GOING TO FIX IT AND DO IT RIGHT!! Again, no comment. He wasn't going to do anything. I looked at the bill and asked him where he had gotten the prices from. He showed me the page where he had written up the 2 quotes only now there was a third amount that we had never discussed because he knew I did not want the lights installed that way. What a mess he left me with. I read the iINoice and in the bottom right hand corner it states, "CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OUT #1 FOCUS". I called and asked for the Customer Service Manager like it was stated on the invoice. I was told they don't have anyone like that. This is just another example of how dishonest teh Electric Mand company is! Someone did call me back. I explained that the job was done wrong, that I wanted 3 switches for 3 light fixtures. He said that there was a misunderstanding. When I trtied to tell him there wasn', he interuppted my explaination he said, "I let yolu talk, now it's my turn!". It was awful. He just kept telling me it was my faylt when it wasn'. When I wouldn't lie he got even nasterier. He would not listen to the facts agout what happened. Customer satisfaction Electric Man knows nothing about.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal through Angie's List which was for $99 for $200 worth of service. We had an issue with a motion sensor light. He arrived and showed me his identification to verify who he was before he came in to do the work. He fixed the issue with the light and fixed some wiring in our home. While he was there he also installed two ceiling fans for use. He said that he would come back to inspect our circuit breaker box when we wanted them to.

 + -1 moreWhen I called The Electric Man, my call was answered pleasantly and quite professionally by Amanda. She listened to what I wanted done and made my appointment immediately. She told me what time the electrician would arrive and also advised he would call prior to his arrival. The day of the appointment the electrician, Ron, called promptly at the given time and arrived right on time. Ron listened to what I wanted to have done (upgrading four outlets in my kitchen area) and what totally impressed me was he gave me a quote, not an estimate that might change as the work progressed, but an actual quote of what my final cost was going to be. I also liked that he explained his electrical education and how many years he has been an electrician. That meant a lot to me to know he was experienced and the work would be done correctly. He went about changing the outlets quickly and efficiently. After he was done, he totally cleaned up the areas where he had worked. He also took all the trash with him even though I said I would take care of it. I could not have asked for any better service and I would not hesitate to call upon this company again.
Description of Work: Upgrade four old electrical outlets in my kitchen area. I wanted the outlets that shut off when water hits them.

 + -1 morePleasant meeting, unfortunately unable to be agreeable to have the job done. Waiting now another week to have this done by Sears.
Description of Work: I was in need of a cooktop replacement (without a downdraft). I had the replacement cooktop ready to go. The team was on time, professional, polite, and clean. She was very considerate to not charge me the $19.95 dispatch fee because I received their contact through Angies List. However the cost to do the swap was shocking....$614.00. Sears was able to send a technician out to do the same job, with a 12 month warranty on installation for $150.00. We went with Sears.

He was very informative and just did his best to give us the service we needed as feasibly as possible so we will not have any problems when we sell the house and they were trying to just help us out. They took care of the problem and did not overcharge us. They were great.

 + -1 moreUnfortunately I did not get to use this "Deal." Prior to purchasing the deal I called Electric Man to ensure that they would honor my location and I was told that they would. When scheduling the appointment, I was told everything was fine. On the day of the appointment I was told that my location was too far away and that I could request a refund. I was able to receive a refund from Angie's list, but am less than pleased with the way this was handled by Electric Man. I would be very clear about your location and work needed before buying any big deals from this vendor.
Description of Work: No service was performed due to cancellation by Electric Man.

 + -1 moreThe technician did a great job and was flexible to my requests. There was an issue with the initial cord not being able to reach the tv, so he had to re-spackle his original whole and made sure the job got done right. I appreciated him ensuring i was 100% satisfied.

A recessed light in my master bathroom was not working, and after a bit of discussion and some initial analysis Jed agreed to venture into an extremely tight attic space in an attempt to identify the root cause of the problem. He was able to find a blown transformer which needed to be replaced (Again, I cannot stress enough how tight of a space this was that he had to crawl into...), ordered the new part, and had it installed and working perfectly in a few days. I used the Angies List coupon for "$99 for $200 Worth of Professional Electrical Service from Electric Man" so this ended up being a great all around deal (And I have a $40 credit). I would highly recommend Jed & Electric Man to anyone in need of a quality professional electrician.

 + -1 moreGreat! The group that performed the service was Pro-Energy Consultants which is a division of The Plumber Inc. The Plumber Inc and the Electric Man just merged. Because I was a former (and current!) client of The Electric Man they sent me a special coupon for an entire home energy audit for only $75!!! You can't beat that - it probably cost that much to fill their truck with gas! Ken was here a full 3 hours taking measurements, readings, scannings, photos, etc. From the top of the house to the bottom - he looked at everything. At the end we talked about what already looked good and what I could improve upon. He agreed to get me a written estimate that would cover the cost of correcting the deficiencies (if I wanted them to perform the work). As promised Ken got me the proposal and we spent about 15 minutes on the phone going over it. Normally the final consultation is longer but my house is only 7 years old and is pretty energy efficient as is. I'm sure an estimate for an older house would take longer. I thought the price for the estimate was a bit high but I really feel as though the $75 coupon was too cheap for the 3 hours of service they provided (so it probably evens out).
