Unprofessional and unresponsive. We reached out to JL Electric for a variety of electrical projects we wanted done around our house. We booked an in-person estimate and took off work to be home for the appointment. JL called to reschedule the appointment the day before due to a fire/flood at another house which took priority (understandable). We took off work again to be at the rescheduled appointment-- but they did not show up. We called them several times and left a voicemail, and they returned our calls hours after our scheduled time saying they "completely forgot" about us, to reschedule for the next morning. We decided to see what their estimate would be based on the decent reviews, but we were already skeptical of their work based on this experience. When we finally received the estimate (approximately 3 days after our appointment), we tried to schedule a time to get the work done on 8/9. As of the time of this review, we have yet to hear from them about whether they even want to do the work, despite several emails on our part trying to reach out to them. Even so, we have lost confidence in them and will not be going with their services.

James is awesome! I called around for an estimate. Some contractors were not available for a while. Some wanted a hefty fee just to give a quote. Yet another quoted me a ridiculous price. James was extremely responsive, very fairly priced, and very professional. He was polite and completely the work with quality. I was on the phone when he finished. He was very considerate and did not want to interrupt me. He left quietly with the invoice on the table. He truly deserves the A rating. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great electrician!

Quick and professional. Installed new mini-breakers and EMP Shield. He even tightened all the screws in my 33 year old electrical box. Never a loose screw here!

Fantastic. Septic company left (and they didn't think it was the pump). I called James and he came right away. Checked all the circuits and decided that the electric line that was in the ground for 27 years, and under the stone home, was at fault and also sized too small. During the troubleshooting, the power in the line actually stopped working. He ran a temporary line from the panel to the pump (120 feet) and the next day with help ran a new line from the panel, through the basement ceiling, through the stone walls, and outside into a new trench to the septic well and pump. He upgraded the circuit breaker to the proper size, and also recommended replacing the alarm power line as well. A lot of difficult work, very professionally done. And while he was going through the house, fixed two other annoying electrical issues,

They have done small jobs, and some very large commercial jobs for us. We are more than satisfied and will remain loyal customers. I only have really good things to say.

I don't want to call them back because they may want to charge me to correct the wiring . Everything is in working order .

Horrible. He wired switches incorrectly, we had discrepancies in the way he was wiring things. He was dishonest about what he was supplying and cheated us out of refunds for products we never received.

James described when he would be available for this small job and actually called back to schedule when he said he would call back. He was prompt, personable, and answered my questions. The work was performed quickly and cleanly. I would hire James again.

They were way out of my budget. I didn't expect the price to be so high. I was just trying to get an idea on what it would cost. When I got that I just stopped getting estimates because it was way over what I could spend. He gave a pretty detailed email estimate. He didn't come here, were just spoke over the phone and email. I would probably call him back but I would get some other estimates because he's not very close. I spoke directly to the owner so I did like that I wasn't just talking to some technician.

We didn't have anything done by them. I would use them in the future.

Jamie was wonderful. Spent time walking through the job with me, offering ideas and explains our options. Suggested a couple of stores to visit for hardware. Very good experience.

Jamey does excellent work! He is extremely responsive and professional. We had a lamp post downed during a storm, he was able to disconnect the wiring and made recommendations on safe replacement. He also replaced 2 outdoor lighting fixtures which where were original to the home. He took the time to explain what he was doing and interjected safety information during the entire process. We did not hesitate to book him for additional projects. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, personable, professional, who is concerned about your safety and the quality of his trade look no further than Jamey. We do NOT have 1 negative about our experience.

I had reached out to another contractor and paid $40 for a ridiculously high estimate. Contacted JL and was told I would only pay for the time the job took and he gave me a very reasonable ball park estimate over the phone. They did a great job installing my ceiling fan and re-wiring the switch. They also fixed a few other minor things and gave me some tips to troubleshoot an issue I'm having with my pool light. Very reasonable prices, great work, and quick response time. I have found my contractor for any future electrical work.

I was very satisfied with this vendor. He is honest and trustworthy, did the project on schedule, was very professional with his work, and made the finished product attractive and tidy looking. Price was fair and reasonable. I will definitely look to him for any future electrical needs.

Wish I had found Jamie years ago. He squeezed in this job, allowing me to have the kitchen counters completed a bit earlier. He and his helper arrived on time, got right to work and installed very nice lighting under the cabs over our kitchen counter. I was looking for lights that wouldn't be visible and would give a medium white color. They look just great. He takes the time to explain everything he's doing. They worked straight through until the job was done. We will definitely use JL Electric for any future projects.

They were prompt, very knowledgeable and priced fairly. Couldn't ask for more.

Service was exceptional. I emailed for information on Sunday and had a call less than an hour later. James even came out that same day to give me an estimate. During the estimate he was very helpful in finalizing what I wanted done and how I wanted it done. He helped offer several suggestions to ensure I only need to do the work once and that it would be prepared for the future when I finish the basement further. This way I would not be wasting money on future renovations to change it again. When he performed the work, other than running a little late everything was perfect. The work was professional, done quickly, and turned out exactly how I hoped. James was personally professional and considerate of the home and ensured that he was being careful when entering and exiting so that nothing was damaged or tracked into the home, and no walls were marked up or hit. The cost was about what I would expect and did not think it was too cheap or too expensive. The quote and what I was charged in the end also matched and I feel I got my moneys worth. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the work and the speed that it was done in (I am not normally easily impressed). I won't hesitate to use James again in the future and I would highly recommend him to others.

Jamey was great to work with. He was punctual, took the time to answer my numerous emails, and explained exactly what I needed to purchase with the kitchen light, bathroom exhaust fan and timer. I am very satisfied with the results and highly recommend JL Electric.

We just moved into house a little over two weeks ago and discovered numerous electrical problems. I called him and explained our situation and he came out in two days and did all the work we needed done. He was very professional, and very knowledgeable. His cost was very reasonable and I would definitely highly recommend him to other customers. He will be our electrician for life.

Jamey and his two guys work tirelessly in the heat and humidity to get my gate installed in time for a wedding being held at my home. The gate was shipped with incorrect parts, but that didn't stop Jamey, he had me find the parts that were missing locally and still managed to get the gate installed. He spent hours on the phone with the tech support people to get accurate information from them to pull the whole project together correctly. Unfortunately, the tech support at the company where I bought the gate, were not as professional as Jamey. They didn't have the answers he needed for at least 2 of the components necessary to finish the job properly. He is out for a week with shoulder surgery but plans to return to finish the gate opener installation. Jamey took time to try to work out things to make them work, and he takes pride in his work. I'll be sure to report back once the completed project is in operation. I know it will go smoothly.

My son recently bought a house in the area. It was an older house with outdated electrical service. Being new in the area, I procured several quotes. JL Electric wasn't the cheapest, but I got the impression from the beginning that he was the right man for the job. He had a working knowledge of and relationship with the Power Co. (PPL) that made him the right choice. He pointed out things that were not to code (which we knew were not) and addressed them individually, answering a ton of questions. I never felt rushed by him and he was very thorough and patient. The old fuse box had been installed (over 50 years ago) right above the area where the well water came into to the house. So, we knew right off the bat that the new breaker box would need a new location. He helped me choose a location that wouldn't interfere with future renovations. Once the work started, he discovered that some circuits were "double tapped" ie: the dryer and AC were using the same fuse. James' crew re-wired that for us at no additional charge. He added a whole house surge protector/lightning arrestor. When the PPL rep came out, it was discovered that the service line coming from the street was too low as it crossed the driveway. It was only 6 inches, but code is code, I suppose. The PPL rep and James took considerable time to come up with a remedy. We opted to add a mast to the house (all to raise the cable up a whole 6 inches!). James found just the right mast over an hour away and promptly purchased it. It took about 3 additional hours but his crew never stopped working on what they could while he was gone. He did not charge me extra for the time or traveling (except for the materials of course). In short, my son and his family have a safe, updated to code home thanks to James Lake and his crew. I would recommend him for any job large or small. If we ever need work done in this area, I will be calling him!
