I would not recommend him.  He was awful.   My husband couldn’t believe I paid him.  I bought the paint for the deck.  I got the quote for painting the deck. I wanted to buy Benjamin Moore paint because it’s an oil-based paint so he had me buy the paint. I had to go and buy the paint and subtract it from what I owed him.  He said it was going to cost more because he couldn’t reuse his brushes.  The result was nasty; he did a nasty, nasty job.  He rolled part of it and he brushed part of it.  He was supposed to roll it and then go over it with a brush.  There are marks where his employee stopped with the roller. It’s uneven and it’s coming off and chipping.  He took off the drop clothes before it dried and it dripped on the concrete patio underneath the deck.  He didn’t have plastic under the container when he carried it into my three-season room and he spilled paint in there.  Now it has green spots on the floor. He said I was making him nervous.  On the house, he was supposed to do all the wood trim but he didn’t do the garage.  When I told him he didn’t paint the garage, he got argumentative.  He thought I wanted him to paint the brick; I wanted him to paint the wood around the brick.  He did come back to paint the garage trim but he got paint all over the grass.  He was supposed to fill some spots.  There were some spots with nails and he was supposed to scrap, fill and remove any nails or staples before painting.  He did no filling, no taping.  I have paint on windows and all over my brick.  They didn’t clean up.  I had to clean up all the paint on my deck.  They did do some minor scraping but nothing at the level of quality that I thought at all.  I personally could have done a better job. He was a really nice guy.  He had a notebook and showed me all the jobs he’d done.  I should have called some of those people.  I didn’t do my homework.  He didn’t return my calls.  He was supposed to show up within 30 days and he didn’t.  Finally I told him I had to have it painted because I had company coming.  He finally showed up.  After he got my money, he wasn’t available.   After he did the job, he’s never returned a call.  He’s a nice old man but don’t hire him, even if he’s cheaper.  I would never use him in the future nor would I recommend him.
